    I wonder why you used the Redline Euro spec oil and not the OEM Professional grade or the high-performance grade. The Euro-spec oils are low to mid SAPS with significantly lower levels of zinc and phosphorous to extend the lives of emission control devices on European cars. On a highly loaded bearing, such as what you have here, the hydrodynamic film lubrication breaks down and the boundary layer lubrication, as provided by the zinc, becomes necessary to prevent metal to metal wear. The use of low to mid SAPS Euro spec oils sacrifices boundary condition wear protection for extended catalytic converter life, and so I'm not surprised that the Redline lubricated bearing showed more wear. The ACEA C3 spec calls for higher hot kinematic viscosity and greater high temperature high shear film strength for better hydrodynamic lubrication in higher-powered engines. This higher viscosity would contribute to greater fluid drag during the test, hence the higher load on the motor with a higher current draw. The Euro-spec oil has a significantly higher viscosity at 40 deg C(warm room temp) as compared to the Professional grade oil and so I would expect the Euro-spec oil to pour more slowly than the Professional grade near room temp.
    Amsoil makes a Euro-spec oil that has similar characteristics to the Redline oil that you used and so I think it would have been a better apples to apples comparison if you had used either both Euro-spec oils in the test or had used both non Euro-spec oils. For users in North America, I think the non Euro-spec oil comparison would have been the better test to make.

      The results are fishy !
      By his results the wear would be 15 or 14 times greater then the amsoil and that is clearly not the case at the end with the pic.
      Also you see 16.30 on scale but were does 16.29 come from ?
      Those wear scars look identical and one is not 15 times bigger then the other !

    Your bearing weights make no sense. The scars are virtually identical, but one lost "0.15" grams and the other lost "0.01" grams... Unless you're using previously damaged bearings, there just isn't any way that is accurate.

    • @grominwithrob1339
      @grominwithrob1339 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Look at the numbers and do the math. Also the redline was larger, it would not show as much side to side, because it's a cylinder resulting in a larger mass of material coming from the center of the wear mark. The depth of the wear mark would be optically more revealing although the weight measurement doesn't rely on an optical perspective.

    This test may not be as important as the fact that the 0w oils slide off parts much more than 5w or 10w oils. Gets there faster? After slaming dry? Modern cars are being destroyed and burning 0il because of green mandates to destroy petrol transportation!?! Smart old mechanics are going to higher viscocity to avoid 0il burning!!!

    That’s an incorrect comparison. You should’ve compared the Redline OE (professional series) line with Amsoil OE.
    But instead you compared Redline performance oil with Amsoil OE. The fair comparison would be using Amsoil Signature Series vs Redline Performance Oil.

    • @BigBear--
      @BigBear-- 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m generally a fan of AMSOIL as an oil for some applications. And Redline for others. There’s a lot more to oil than the tests he purports to show here. We have no idea what the temperatures of the oils are, and as a general comment proper flow tests are performed differently than what he shows here, and under varying temperatures.
      Btw the wear scars look identical, so I don’t know where he’s getting the weight differences from, it’s the same sized bearings, if it took out more material the scar should’ve been twice the size.
      I use AMSOIL in one of my cars and Redline in another, AMSOIL signature 5w30 in my family SUV, and Redline 0w20 in my performance daily driver. I do love AMSOIL oil filters and use them in both applications.

    I do not know why one would consider these "tests" useful in predicting oil performance inside an engine.
    Viscosity number should correspond to flow rate, if two oils with same rating are compared, and one flows faster then it has lower viscosity at given temperature so it is out of spec, it is too thin, is not better.
    Oil rated at 5 should be 5 and not 4 or 3 or 0. This will not make it better, it will make it different grade of oil.
    Wear test is altogether odd, it just likes thinner oils. The thinner the oil - the better results it will produce not to mention inconsistency in the way that test is designed.
    This "testing" wants to look like it is scientific but it is not, this is a show.

    I think they are both really great oil. I have used Amsoil in all my vehicles before I owned my Ram. The 5.7 Hemi with the MDS loves moly though and the Redline has way more moly in it than the Amsoil. So at least while I own my hemi I will be using Redline. All other vehicles I would use the Amsoil.

    I think something is fishy or mistake in video.
    1. In video you say Redline bearing weighs 16.30 grams after test . WERE DOES 16.30 EVEN COME FROM ?
    2. If your calculations are correct the Redline bearing wear scar should be 15 times the size of the wear scar of the Amsoil wear scar and by looking at bearing picture at the end THAT IS CLEARLY NOT THE CASE as the wear scars look NEARLY IF NOT IDENTICAL !
    Are you an amsoil dealer ?
    I MEAN WERE DOES 16.30 EVEN COME FROM ?
    Think about it wear scars clearly look identical and in vid you reference 16.30 verbally and 16.29 visually on vid for Redline which would make same wear scar for Amsoil and Redline.

      I dont understand oil was being tested the same way over ten years ago on TH-cam also go back to the tournament meaning the very first video he declared to be a tournament video look at the date then look at my first video that i declared a tournament video mine was first its ok with me. But i dont consider a video of mine or his the start of the tournament if i made a old video then later started a tournament and there after counted the video from the past as part of it because that means you didn't figure out the tournament idea until you first mentioned in your video and then made the video but its important people know i made the tournament from my own idea because college basketball is big where i live.

      Street Racing Therapy there are many oil tests that are similar, and Nate does a good job of comparison. He’s not ripping off anyone else’s videos.

    These tests are meaningless. There is a good chance that bottom shelf Kmart brand synthetic could surpass these oils using the tests put forth. Real world pumpability, wear and add pack retention are real tests along with oil analysis after use. I don't understand all these videos with the same meaningless tests.
