Please be mindful of your wording. CHANEL and L’Oréal did NOT buy The Row. CHANEL owners and a L’Oréal heiress purchased MINORITY stakes in the company which is still owned by MK&A.
The *suluxy* are really good these days. Especially LV. To be honest, a birkin or a Kelly at the end of the day, is really just a simple bag to make.. so it’s not that hard to make it perfectly like the authentic. I say it’s a win. I own a couple and I’m not ashamed. I’ll save the 20,000 plus per bag and use it for my children and trips instead.
It’s crazy that Mary Kate and Ashley dabbled in all levels of the fashion market and never failed. They had that glittery pre-teen line that was in Wal-mart decades ago, followed by Elizabeth and James and now the Row, all hits. Never studied design formally, completely different approaches and targets to each line. Who would have thought little Michelle Tanner could make it so far!
Longtime subscriber here! 🤚🏾 I must say, Cassie, in a world where so many content creators are getting into luxury fashion, it is absolutely refreshing to listen to you teach us and update us on luxury fashion. It’s clear that you do a lot of research and really know what you’re talking about. As a fellow maximalist myself, I’m also not a Row customer, but one things for sure, I always know I’m going to feel more knowledgeable and confident after watching any of your videos. Keep going ❤
I can definitely see The Row coming out with a fragrance line like Tom Ford. Also see them coming out with sunglasses and costume/fine jewelry line. These are huge money makers and the investors would like this. Also see the money helping with opening more stores around the globe.
Im sure the quality is brilliant. But I tend to agree with something you said in previous video before. They're really like an upscale uniqlo😅 I get that they do classics and minimalist and quiet luxury. But too QUIET for me for that price range. 😂
I bought the Lalage Beaumont Fontyn in medium tan last week at *suluxy* and since receiving it I have been using it and neglecting my designer collection (honeymoon period maybe) , but I was really impressed with the quality and timing, right down to how they used it. Will wear it. I wish they would make this bag in a variety of pinks (i.e. sakura pink). There are actually many options to choose from
I purchased a Margaux bad this spring and just received a 90's bag. I have collected LV, Chanel, Prada, YSL, Gucci and Fendi for years. I still love all of these luxury brands, but there is something magical and special about the beautiful and quiet quality/luxury of The Row bags. I have to admit that I am hooked.
Ok heard its an investment and not a purchase. The Olson twins still own majority ownership and will continue to make decisions. Im sure this is for them to expand. As others stated fragrance or makeup
They did not buy The Row….they all invested in The Row and have a minority stake in the company. I can see the interest these established investors would have in a newer up and coming brand.
So interesting- never considered the Row- like you, I prefer some drama in my wardrobe- but sitting here listening to you- I took a look at the website and purchased a white t-shirt- 😂 I have to see what this about- I am guilty of spending stupid money on t- shirts🤣- if this plain white $320 shirt is amazing- I will keep in rotation alongside my Target Jockey t- shirts🤣🤣🤣
It’s official… I also need to buy this cardigan! 😍 With the red, the white couch and the green bag it’s giving me a whole Hungarian flag vibe 😂 Have a lovely day🎉
Loved this video! Industry news and developments are always interesting to me! Enjoyed hearing your take on it and I do hope you make a video about how you see the tides turning!
It was so nice to see you at the Barenia event! Can’t believe I met you - even lovelier in person! And you guessed it, watched this while I was getting ready and the baby was sleeping 😝 - thanks for keeping me entertained during early mommyhood!
Don't forget the twins have prior background in commercial fashion. They sold childrens fashion, "Mary Kate & Ashley" then they were very young so they know branding very well.
I’m so proud of The Row and how far it’s come! I was a huge Mary Kate and Ashley fan as a kid and that followed when I got into designer brands. I will miss being able to purchase The Row pieces and bags for less than $1k at the resale market tho😂😅 I’m just glad I have all the pieces i have now🥲 Some may find The Row “boring” but a lot of their pieces are timeless and I’ve gotten nothing but compliments for the past few years!
Something that really interests me is who these clothes are for. I am so exhausted with seeing waif-thin models swimming in these giant "architectural" cuts. I am between a US size 6 and 8 and 5'1", which I think is normal, and pretty much all of these looks would look awful on me. Where is the size inclusivity, never mind the ridiculous price? Thanks for another lovely video, Cass!xxxx
Cassie! I am loving you in the red!!! Love the name "The Row" would definitely love a Margaux bag but they can keep the rest of those vagabond clothes!
Thanks for your thoughts on this and giving us knowledge 😍👌🏾 had some concerns until you informed that they will continue to have the controlling factor… now all I have say is well done ladies‼️
The Row isn’t for me but your video was excellent and informative. What I like about you Cassie is that you respect your viewer’s intelligence enough not to have some BS click bait titles with dumbed down content to match. I shall not name names. Also, I appreciate the product recommendations you give because it’s already been sourced by you and thank you for providing links. Oh and of course your winning personality!
The association with Chanel being ubiquitous with low quality and issues for such a storied brand is a shame. They really dropped the ball on that PR and customer relations front.
When I first heard about the news regarding Chanel and their new involvement with The Row, I was shocked! 😮 By the way, great video as always, Cassie! 💖 I LOVE your Vivienne Westwood cardigan paired with those fabulous hoops! 🥰😍🫶🏻 Lots of love from Rome🇮🇹💕

Loro Piana popped off when the quiet luxury trend got going, so I don't think greater publicity will hurt The Row. They don't have any real scandals attached to them. I wonder if they'll extend their online presence since some of the investors are linked to digital retailers
The *suluxy* are really good these days. Especially LV. Agree with everything you said. I was hoping that the Olsens were going to be the new artistic directors of Chanel, but no, it is a collab. Very interesting. A BIG move.
Thoroughly distracted by your cardigan. Had to rewatch the video. Such a good purchase 😍 But also very interesting take on the Row. Not much of their stuff here in Asia, definitely.
obsessed with the row. visit them here in la almost weekly. they already have fragrances. i wonder if they will expand into fine jewelry. they almost always have a new collection of jewels when i go!
I'm not the Row customer either. Their stores look like a barren architecture office. No thanks. Their clothes are stupid expensive and ill fitting. Its completely not a look I'm into. BTW Viv's red is fire on you.
No matter if it's the *amzrepe* or any other, my steadfast belief stands that only practitioners can perceive dissimilarities in the sack looks or the metal constituents
Hi cass! They already have a perfume range that is how you described. Hahaha. Very in the know, very rich sounding, sourced from the young tree barks of this and oud from this particular partnof whatever. Hahaha. Xox
Just finished watching and its a relief the Olsens maintain their control on the brand. I’ve been following The Row since their outrageous aligator backpack from back in 2012!
One day, we walked into a store in the mall and my friend was looking for a new small backpack/wallet. We pointed to one on the wall and the salesperson said it was $22 and my friend said "that's a bargain". When I realized it was $2200, I considered buying the *xbagy* here
The Row holds no appeal for me. It seems like Eileen Fisher but with a bigger price tag. E.F. is quality. It's also boxy and boring. Life is too short. Love you and the content! 🇬🇧☕🇺🇸💕
They did do Elizabeth and James. I think named after siblings? They had an excellent vanilla bourbon fragrance. Do you think this will drive their prices up higher?
The families behind Chanel and L'Oréal didn't buy the Row they purchased a stake in it. A stake is the same as shares. So you are providing incorrect information that Chanel purchased the Row for content which is something we don't need another influencer to do.

As a stylist and fashion maverick- I’ve loved the row for 15 plus years and I’m in no way a minimalist. They make phenomenal pieces. My best layering pieces are from the row. The best cashmere, standout- throw on top of other pieces.. correct it doesn’t need to scream a label. Some seasons are better than others. Also, Chanel purchased a stake in them they did not purchase the entirety of the row. MK and A have slayed with this and their bridge line Elizabeth and James, which is the far more affordable Priceline of their other brand/ company.
Please be mindful of your wording. CHANEL and L’Oréal did NOT buy The Row. CHANEL owners and a L’Oréal heiress purchased MINORITY stakes in the company which is still owned by MK&A.

Bye bye the row quality control but happy for Mary and Kate. What a great business move.
No need to worry about quality control (I go through this in the video)
@@CassieThorpeI just started, my bad. Chanel and I are lifelong frenemies. Just the title had me 😟

no gurl they did not "bought the row! " they "invested" on the row...along with four other entities! the Olsens still running the whole show!
The way you showcase the interior compartments is fantastic, cicishops! It helps me visualize how I would use the bag in daily life.

SUNGLASSES!! How did I forget SUNGLASSES!!!
I can see that too! Considering how successful their Elizabeth and James line did, back in the day.
You're right! Fragrance and sunglasses are the cash cows that usually propel the big brands. Can also see a line of $500-$2000 candles for them
@@sparklefarterI loved their Elizabeth and James fragrances for Sephora. I may still have one of their travel sizes.

well that explains Chanel's interest. Extortionate pricing, poor size inclusion and foolish fits.
