Praise God!! I had a similar testimony. I wanted to recieve the gift of speaking in tongues so I seeked God for it and I was also shy to completely surrender to him for the gift . But one night in prayer God blessed me with the gift after I gave him heart. Hallelujah! Great Testimony!
Amen brother beautiful testimony, FAITH IS THE MAJOR KEY in believing we can speak in tongues!!! Wow thank you Lord, thank you for this encouragement and wisdom!!! We must have FAITH, TRUST, BELIEVE, and be OBEDIENT
Great testimony brother Terrence ! When I recieved the Holy Spirit I didn't even know the difference between recieving the Holy Spirit and the Spirit baptism having never gone to church growing up. All I knew, after a friend invited me to his church, that I wanted this wonderful presence, I felt around me, in me. That next night ,when the altar call was given, I went up and when I was asked what I wanted from the Lord, I said that I wanted this wonderful presence I was feeling inside of me. A couple of the brothers took me to the prayer room and told me to ask the Lord for what I wanted from him. I closed my eyes and knelt, lifted my hands and started asking Him. I heard the pastors voice beside me saying, brother Bob, stand up, lift your hands and receive the Holy Ghost. I stood up, with my eyes still closed and lifted up my hands and immediately saw a window appear to my upper right. It had what looked like shutters on the outside of it and they were wide open. I looked in the window and saw the most beautiful blue sky I had ever seen. Then a bright light appeared coming into view from the left side, inside the window, moving across my field of vision. When it reached the center point, it stopped and shined on me. Immediately I felt a warmth moving up my body from my feet upward. I felt as if I was being filled up with a warm liquid. As it was rising up my body I was shouting and thanking the Lord because I knew that He was answering my prayer. As the filling approached my head I heard the pastor telling me to surrender my tongue to the Holy Spirit. I stopped praising and relaxed my tongue. After a few seconds I felt control of my tongue seized and my tongue just took off and I was fluently speaking in this language I didn't even know was called speaking in tongues until someone told me afterwards. I'd never felt such pure joy in my life. I felt beside myself I was so happy.
Great testimony ! I hadn't been raised in a church so I had no preconceived ideas of what being saved was all about. I was invited to a Bible study by a friend at a Pentecostal church. Before the study I saw people going into a side room. My friend saw me watching them and asked me if I knew where they were going and I said no. He then told me they were going to pray and if I wanted ymto I could too. So I did. It's as a carpeted room with benches scattered around. I found one by myself and knelt and closed my eyes and listened because I didn' t even know how to pray and listening to others and trying to get some idea how to do it. After a few minutes I heard a girl come back there. At first she was praying and praising God in English. Suddenly she switched and started speaking in this stuttery language I had never heard before. I remember thinking " That's interesting". As soon as I had thought that I felt this powerful presence come near me. I could feel the power shining on me but I wasn't afraid because I also felt love. I remember thinking " That must be God". After the study my friend asked me if I had enjoyed the study and I said yes. He said if I wanted he would call a friend and have him pick me up the next night and retake me to a church like his that was closer to where I lived .I said okay. That next night his friend took me to this church and the minute I stepped in there I could feel this wonderful presence again. The people were nice and greeted me and I sat down. As the service was in progress I saw these same people shouing, dancing and running the aisles. I remember thinking that I had just talked to these people a little while ago and they struck me as solid , sane people. I watched them and came to the conclusion that they must be experiencing something so wonderful that they were " beside themselves " they were so happy. I decided that what I was feeling on the outside of me they must have on the inside of them and more than anything else I wanted that too. When the altar call was given and I told the altar workers that I wanted what I was feeling on the outside of me in me. They said something to the pastor and ended up taking me to this dimly lit hallway. They told me to kneel and asked the Lord for what I wanted. I closed my eyes and knelt. As I was asking the Lord for His presence to be in me. The men were laying hands on me and praying with me and for me. After a few minutes I heard footsteps and the pastors voice saying," Brother Bob, stand up lift your hands and recieve the Holy Ghost". I stood up, with my eyes still closed, and lifted my hands. I immediately saw a window appear to my upper right side. It had what looked to be those old fashioned shutters on the outside ends of the window and they were wide open. After a few seconds I felt control of my tongue seized and I started fluently speaking in this strange language I had never learned. The feeling was so wonderful that now I was so happy I was " beside myself" . Those praying for me were happy for me too and were praising God. I led the way out of the prayer room and stopped and faced the church people. Suddenly I felt so much love for these people like you would feel when you look at family members you love and I didn't really know any of them. I felt like I had a bright light in my head and I could feel it's rays shining from around my head and face.
Thanks for sharing your testimony! The church I currently attend has good preaching; but, doesn’t teach the baptism in the Holy Ghost. It’s great to hear from others who have the baptism and who speak in tongues!

Your struggle is similar to mine and encourages me to continue in faith to believe that God will fulfill His promise of this❤ The struggles people share are so helpful to encourage me to continue seeking and I kinda wonder if the struggle is more with just being able to “relax” in faith that we WILL receive from the Father His promised Spirit and the gifts that follow. So like you I’m asking even for that simple faith to receive. Faith definitely comes and increases as I hear not only Gods Word but also through the testimonies of Jesus as you have shared yours! Thank you brother for sharing your own testimony. Yes it is so wonderful and powerful to speak in tongues, to have your own heavenly language. Glory to God.
Congratulations on your baptism of The Spirit brother! You are now a true born again christian and a part of Gods family. Holy Spirit filled people undeniably make it to heaven someday. How can that person not. God bless you Terry.

hey, uhh, not to sound condescending but 7:30-7:34, you said the baptism of the holy spirit is detrimental to a Christian's walk I believe you meant something else because when something is detrimental, it means its bad.
Dear Brother, l enjoyed your testimony. However, we need to understand that every born again person already has the Holy Spirit at the time of conversion but can be later baptised and filled with the Holy Spirit by Christ with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Born of the Spirit and filled with the Spirit(two separate , distinct, works of the Holy Spirit. Be blessed and thanks for sharing.
Brother Harrison, I read your post and would like to comment. We know that we have to rely on scriptural evidence as to what's involved in recieving the Holy Spirit. The only scriptural evidence we have of people actually Recieving the Holy Spirit is in the book of Acts ch. 2,10. and 19. Not once do we see scriptural evidence of someone Recieving the Holy Spirit and then later Recieving the Holy Spirit baptism because they were one and the same event. In Acts ch.19 Paul comes upon some disciples that already believed in the gospel and yet Paul asked them, " Have you recieved the Holy Spirit since you believed?" If they had recieved the Holy Spirit then Paul was incorrect in asking them this question. They were converted but still hadn't recieved . In the O.T. the prophets had the Holy Spirit come upon them In them and fill them but He then withdrew. The reason the Spirit didn't remain upon them and in them is that being born of the Spirit or Recieving the Holy Spirit wasn't available to man yet. They didn't have " The anointing that abideth." When the Holy Spirit fell upon the apostles in ch. 2. They recieved the Holy Spirit and the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the same time. As did Cornileus and his guests did in Acts 10 and the disciples in Acts 19. It is the Holy Spirit baptism, which the O.T. prophets didn't have ,that enabled them to recieve the the Holy Spirit or be " born of the Spirit". Lastly, the confusion in many churches is a result of them not realizing that ,in Pauls' writings to the Corinthians , he was talking to believers who were already born again believers who had recieved the Holy Spirit as a result of the Spirit baptism.
@@robertnieten7259 My dear brother, thank you for your kind spirit I felt in your comments. We must understand that it is the Holy Spirit that baptizes us into the body of CHRIST and at that moment, we receive the indwelling Spirit(Roman 8:9). However, one is not filled with the Spirit at that time. You can not be a sinner and receive the Holy Spirit. You must be born of the Spirit first before you can be filled with the Spirit. In Acts 19: 2 , they were already saved when they met Paul so all they needed was to be filled with the Holy Ghost. Are you oneness ?
@@worldoutreachministries2644 Thanks for your comment Edward. However, when a person recieves the spoken Word of God and makes a decision to turn from their sinful past and yield their life to the Lord they are not saved yet. They must complete the salvation process in order to be saved because salvation is about being born again which, like physical birth, is a process. Repentance must then be completed by obeying the gospel and being water baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. This is being " born of the water in John ch.3. Water baptism is then completed by Holy Spirit baptism. There is " One Lord, one faith, and one baptism." These are two parts of one baptism. In the O.T., prophets had the Holy Spirit come upon them and fill them but then depart for a time. This was because being "born again" wasn't available to man yet to where the Holy Spirit would remain permanently in the believer until the apostles recieved the Holy Spirit in Acts ch.2. The Holy Spirit is recieved as a result of the Holy Spirit baptism. We must be filled to overflowing for the Holy Spirit to remain within us. The Word " recieve", in the original Greek , that the N.T. was written in, means " to take hold of". So we must pray for the Holy Spirit in filling until the Lord fills us with the Holy Spirit. We don't decide when the Lord gives us the Spirit, He does. Once He answers our prayers and fills us with the Holy Spirit, we must then yield our tongue, the body's " most unruly member" to the Spirit until He takes control of it and enables us to speak in " tongues" which is one spiritual language". Once the Lord does so, that initiates the baptismal overflow which is being " born of the Spirit" Jesus referred to in John ch.3. Now a believer is saved/ born again.
@@robertnieten7259 No, my brother ! Water baptism does not complete the salvation process. That process is all done by grace through faith alone by the Holy Ghost. We disagree ! You are teaching that oneness doctrine. That is totally incorrect. By grace alone are we saved not of works(water baptism). Sorry, I tried to help you but you rejected. I will pray for your enlightenment.
@@worldoutreachministries2644 Thanks for your response brother. There is a big difference between performing " works" in order to some how earn salvation and obeying the gospel plan of salvation in order to recieve the free gift. When the Protestant reformation took place it's purpose was to separate believers from the Roman Catholic church that was teaching a salvation by works. Unfortunately, they went too far the other way to where obeying the clearly set forth plan of salvation, repentance, and water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ were considered " works". But that's what the apostles, including Paul taught. So instead of going to the birth of the church in the book of Acts for the plan of salvation they pointing to Romans not realizing that Paul who wrote it believed that repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and recieving the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues was absolutely essential to salvation as evidenced in Acts ch.19.
"I'm tired of not knowing if I'm yours or not Lord.." Just by you saying Lord showed you already believed in Him. No one who seeks for the baptism of the Holy Spirit isn't already saved. Literally BELIEF from your heart and confession by your mouth you are saved, there is no "plus the baptism" or anything. Even Paul encountered believers in Christ who didnt get baptized in the Holy Spirit, but according to Jesus, you have the Holy Spirit the SECOND you believe in His name. That simple my friend
There is a belief that leads to obedience which leads to salvation. There is no salvation in disobedience. Those who are truly in Christ are free indeed from their sin. Do not lean to your own understanding or man's. Turn from your sin and cry out to Jesus. He will show you His way which is the truth. John 14:15-17,21,23-24 NKJV "If you love Me, keep My commandments. [16] And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- [17] the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. [21] He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." [23] Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. [24] He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.
Yes but you need to have the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to do God's will and become a disciple. Otherwise, you are working under your own power. You always must keep the Holy Spirit stirred up.
@@cricket34 Again, no where in scripture does it mention that you need the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to be SAVED. You recieve the spirit the SECOND you believe from your heart. The empowering comes after salvation and you CAN stunt your growth in Christ and backslide. Does not mean you are headed to hell or going to suffer the judgement of God. God PAID FOR your judgement under Christ. We are now judged by Christ, not the law.
@@Stayoffhereable New wine cannot go into an old wineskin, lest the new wine cause the old wineskin to burst and both will perish. The holy Spirit will not come into an old unrepentant heart.
Seek after god about speaking in tongues for holy spirit.
Speaking in tongues happens as a result of the Holy Spirit baptism. The Holy Spirit baptism is how we receive the Holy Spirit.
"I'm tired of not knowing if I'm yours or not Lord.."
Just by you saying Lord showed you already believed in Him.
John 14:15-17,21,23-24 NKJV
"If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Repentance cleanses and renews the heart for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. If any man is in Christ he is a new creature, OLD THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY. Those that are lead by the Spirit are the sons of God.
@@terrencelong9661 Why do you and so many Lordship Salvationsists take verses out of context? There is ADDICTIONS AND BONDAGES that dont go away immediately after salvation. You are freed from DEATH that sin causes, NOT your temple of death. please stop twisting the scriptures lest you be like satan my friend. To say that the struggle doesnt exist after you get saved or that you're somehow miraculously programmed to obey Gods will 100% without the flesh getting in the way is to be a liar. For no one IN THE FLESH can please God (You are not IN the flesh after salvation, you are IN the spirit after belief in Him.) Why do you think paul wanted corinth to GROW in Christ? They were STILL going back to their old ways but he NEVER said they were not saved. Listen, if you want to reply back, feel free, but you're wasting my time with your sinless perfection nonsense. We obey christ out of LOVE for Him, not to escape hell. Please get your context before you teach, you will judged more severe for spreading misinformation.
I recieved tongues in bedroom.
Messaged you on facebook brother
