Rahman joins Score: The Podcast all the way from Chennai, India to share his story of teaching himself how to use his late father’s musical equipment, making the decision to work at a young age to help support his family in lieu of school, passing on a scholarship to Berklee to score his first film, connecting with director Danny Boyle for the smash hits Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours and starting his own music school in India.

Listen to mind blowing songs of Dil se (1998) ,listen it to multiple times, don't give a shit to language. You will know why AR rahman is a genius after listening to this wonderful album.

The young guy doesn't know A R Rahman is a God given gift. Rockstars are by the dozens but there is only one A R Rahman. Roja, Dil Se, Bombay, Saathiya, Rangeela, Rang De Basanti and it goes on, Jai Ho was not even close to his best, not even his top 100th best.

As someone who grew up listening to AR and a hobbyist musician, I find this interview extremely refreshing! It’s wonderful to see how AR thinks about technology and dive deep into some of the technical details!
He is wonderful man down to earth what he was talking is true because I have see him with my eyes we where childhood friends he is a music computer he work is highly sounds perfects

Great discussion but don't agree with the title at all, Rahman himself has admitted having several mentors and muses...he's not entirely self taught but a prodigal musician
