Getting to interview the legendary ARR face-to-face is a huge achievement..... this just shows how far the OSR boys have come. With regrads to ARR, I havent seen many of his interviews but in this video you can honestly sense his humbleness.... he gives of this calm persona which is genuine and the man definitely knows his stuff about music without coming of prententious. I think the word "Legend" is often overused, but for me ARR is a true legend, not just for his vast body of work but also for his clear passion and humility.

This was a pretty mediocre PR interview. ARR's interview with Yashraj Mukhate was more comfortable, any interview about Firdaus Orchestra is more heartfelt and animated. There didn't seem to be much of a connection between rick/korbin and ARR and nothing new was discussed. They've done pretty great interviews in the past, Kaushiki for example, even their interview with Anurag Kashyap was more insightful than this (even though it's a bit hard to enjoy an interview with an accused r@ pist lol oops!).
OSR can do better that's why everyone loves their interviews, they are usually more in depth and interesting, this was like reading ARR's wiki page

This is the third time I have seen him so comfortable. The first one was with Arijit Singh. The second was him interviewing different artists from Manipur, Sikkim, Kerala for the Amazon prime Harmony. In those interviews and interactions, he seemed very comfortable and open like never before. He often showed childlike excitement about the musical instruments, singing styles and musical ideas. He seemed so excited about trying Harpeji, keyboard and drum boards with these musical discoveries. He did his best to make the regional artistes at home in his rehearsal place. It is always the musical ideas, musical instruments and musical people that helps him open up. Even in the superawkward Kapil Sharma show, he seemed to open up to Ali Asgar only when (s)he brings a cart full of musical instruments.
Also the questions asked here are not the typcial stale ones. These guys seem genuinely curious and present questions about of his work history, style, musical experiences and routine in a way he relates to and actually enjoys! 🙏🏽👍

There's too many things about ARR that I envy. The genius-of-a-composer keeps reiterating and noting that everything he received in life is a "blessing", how he still feels unworthy at times and how the knowledge out there is huge, with him still learning many things till date. Beyond humble and grateful he is. No wonder he manifests everything that he wants in life. ♥️ Too much to learn from the man 🙏 Great interviews guys! Loved every bit of it. We're blessed to be a part of the generation to witness this genius do his stuff. If he were born in the 1950's or 60's, the technology back then wasn't good enough to fully express himself. If he was a part of the millenial generation, we would have done a massive disservice to his craft because of our attention spans. We're lucky Rahman was born in that technological transition that we're fully able to witness the metamorphosis of this genius and how he's been able to constantly update and renew himself time and time again. Above all that, he's a wonderful human being. Anyone who has ever worked with or even interacted with him over the last 3 decades hadn't had a single bad word to say about him. What an absolute pleasure Rahman sir. Keep doing your thing and we Rahmaniacs are always behind you. Massive respect to OSR for making this happen and allowing us a tiny sneak peak into this astounding specimen of a human being.
