ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: oxford-union.org/supportus
I remember, he said “All my life I have had a choice of hate and love. I chose love and I am here.” ❤

He still looks young
I am a great fan of his 90s songs, speeches, and interviews. His speeches and activities motivate me. For me, he is a great motivator.🙏
Music creation, Leadership and Teamwork with love and respect. 🙏
0:58 that ‘Aahh’ was also musical😊
He is not just genius musician more than humble human being i really wanted to meet him.

Good observation.. I respect to your thought
19:05.. AR Rahman always respects his Gurus and Seniors.. Loyal son of India..
Very proud to be your fan..
We should encourage more of such simple interactions in India also … celebrities taking questions in a simple way without much fanfare
Thank you Oxford union ❤
Naushad, khayam, Ar rehman, pancham, Laxmikath pyarelal, illaya Raja,,,,,,, are the master of musics and the bestest musicians alltime
Great wisdom from a great man. Just his vibe is so peaceful apart from the humility. Just wish the host was a little interested in the interview too.
Arr ❤🎉🎉
#ARRahuman ❤❤❤

A. R Rahman, Illyaraja and R. D Burman are the best composers from India.
Totally agree 👍
what u think of Anirudh? very popular last decade and now doing Hindi.
@@jponline79wasted
U haven't listened to other composers ..
@@nature5002 so just say no . only asking opinions. People said same on Rahman in 90s
As always a treat to watch his interviews 😊
Thankyou soo much Sir ! Thankyou soo much! 🙌🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕💕💕
Proud of you sir ❤
Beautiful session to know about ARR
Music runs in his genes. Rahman did not randomly pick music as a career. His father, RK Shekhar, also had a keen interest in music and even composed songs in Tamil and Malayalam.
Mani Ratnam was the first person to spot the talent in Rahman and got him to compose the music for his Tamil film Roja in 1992. He got a sum of Rs 25,000 for the project, and he became the recipient of the National Film Award along with huge success, popularity and admiration.
Rahman is the first Asian to have won 2 Oscars in the same year for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri recipient has also won 4 National Awards....
Thank you Sir... Your words 🤝 👏👏👏
I like all his answers! So thoughtful and deep. My favourite song is yet to come! This is powerful.
Thamizhanin perumaii rahman anna ❤
Great conversation 🎉
Great Man in India
So humble
His signature is .In most of his songs Mr AR has the first to words repeated ....like ...anbae anbe...Dil... urvashi..

Related to AI - Creators will still exists in fact more creators will come. May be in the area of instrument players, they may find it difficult.
Arr❤
Nice interview... wonderful personality...
All great musicians have bought technology into music...there is no point in continuing with your Illayaraja Bashing...focus on music...not creating news...
A hit is long due from you...
Ilayaraja ❤️🔥 and ar Rahman saying ❤ guru
💐💐💐🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I wasn't expecting such a behaviour of the students... So pale... Even Mr Rahman could possibly gauge this about them. They are so undeserving of this great man who is known but not limited to his passion... Much much more to him...
❤
😮
When was this recorded?
Please cut the speech about suicide thinking as shorts .👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
33:02 Adopt. Answer for conflicts.
Conflicts exist in everything whether god made or man made. like day and night, cool and hot. without conflict only empty can exist. when in conflict adopting brings peace, happiness, life.
Actually it is dichotomy and it will always be there
very good,, but ur audio level is too low.. plzz increase ur audio work,
Why are the questions from this bunch of audience so lame?
இசைக்கு மொழி கிடையாது எல்லையும் கிடையாது என்பதை நிரூபித்து விட்டார் ஏ ஆர் ரகுமான்
the anchor is in deep sleep mood😂
Feeling Bad for the Yollow hoody guy at right !😢
hi agiiii
Music created by human has Soul in it whereas not in music created by AI
What's happening with Host...
Yea.. I too noticed it.. she is sitting there as the most disinterested person ever..😕
A. R. Rahman
or
A R Rahman,
but not
A.R Rahman
I wish he comes out and opens up about the sounds that he’s adopted from other musicians. Pat Metheny, Mr. Mr. Snoop. There’s so many similarities and yet unique with his sounds and style.
Blood shed and drugs mafia movies no need best music only noisy and danga daga music is enough
Deepan say this to aniruth
No straight questions, no straight answers.
Metaphor. When I first started listening to A R R's interviews, I noticed this about him. He is now direct in his speech and transparent. If you want to learn more about his sentiments and thoughts, investigate. His interviews are high intellectual. Peace
What is his breakfast ? 26:36
It's Oxford and I see only Indians or NRIs ?
எதைக் கொடுத்தாலும் மக்கள் ரசிக்க வேண்டும் என்னும் தான்தோன்றித்தனம் ரகுமானுக்குள்வந்துள்ளதுதெரிகிறது.
Anchor is in a hurry!😄
Feels like she need to go to toilet, totally not interested
Seems like Kids not knowing his discography and reporttaire are in the audience, generation change obvious here
Very suppressed and nervous ambience in this room. Uncomfortable silence.
Why all violins gitars play same note not different not
Why fear ai music
Need not reley on vairamuthu alone and iyers in chennai for words
J'ai....
My heart says ARR is the best
My mind says ILLAYARAJA sir is the best
🤍✨
Great interview, but i cant help staring at that ugly stage, Gosh, how old is that? is that's the Oxford's standard these days? when they are charging quite high tuition fees in comparison to other institutions?
Unpopular Opinion: Honestly, Rahman’s output has really dipped so much in quality in the last 10 years that I secretly think he has outsourced his music to AI already.
You are so wrong my friend, checkout so many of his tamil movie releases in the last year 10 years you won't say that
U must not be listening properly then. He’s in the business for 30+ years now. If you are judging him with his 90’s music and latest, he is evolving every day and some people are still stuck in the 90’s .
@@arunbakt I’m from Tamil Nadu only. I grew up listening to Rahman. I collected all his CDs when I was young and was his biggest fan.
Not anymore. The last great Rahman album was Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya in 2010. After that I’m not even able to remember a single tune.
He has been surpassed in the South by Anirudh a long time ago, and his Hindi music doesn’t even sell films like they used to.
Anyway, that’s my personal opinion. There was a time when I used to watch a movie only because it had a Rahman score. Those days are long gone.
@@mohamedfaizan9844un mela paridhabam dhan pada mudiyum.... soooo sorry
True....his music is not popular any more.
The Host was so disinterested in the conversation or maybe I felt it that way.
Past 10 years no award.because........
Talk about the target, not his hobbies.
23:24 very disrespectful to put the legs crossed like that in front of him
the anchor looks so dead.. like she is forced to do the interview.🙂
Dilip is his nama

@@noorayanshaikh he should quit music as singing is haram in Islam.
The woman in the chair with ARR seems to be totally lost and out of place. 😄
Three monkeys policy is to avoid conflicts, one monkey dont see anything, another, dont say anything another one dont hear anything
Why do these kids seated here look like they are forced to sit through this? Are they brought in to fill the seats? If they are, it is embarrassing. Just look at the few seated on the right of this screen. They look disinterested.
True.
Even the interviewer seems disinterested. So annoying..
" come out of this bubble you live in"....
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, me and everyone else are living in that bubble buddy ..
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
just a bunch of kids who r attention deficit and cant listen without scrolling thru the phone every few seconds
Boring questions
What I find a bit 'strange' in these videos is, being an 'Indian' to the core, Mr. ARR is 'reachable face-to-face' and can be 'connected' in every other foreign countries.. but not in his own 'native' land..
Am I supposed to know him? 🤷♂️
For good yes
yeah but whites being ignorant is nothing new.
Come out of this bubble you live in, Tommy.
Yes, if you love music.
@@gantamk this indian guy is music now?
The body language of the interviewer is so annoying. Looks as if she was forced to sit there.
Host is treating him very badly , this is not the kind of gestures in front of an Oscar Winner , no eye contact , no concentration, completely lost
I dont like him
You are wrong sir, ai will replace actors, cameramans, content creators, lyricists, music directors..... This field is becoming "FREE". Its time to leave 😭 earth for creators.....
You dont know the power of ai.. its learning faster ×100 . 2 yrs from now . .... Sorry for negative comments, bit it is the reality.
I doubt that not in music yet, He mentioned the perfect example on feeding the commands to CX5 how hard it is
Personally I don't love his songs for last 10 years. Rahman's songs of 90s and 2000s had an identity. Now in the name creating something new, his songs are ordinary. In 90s when other composers were doing similiar repetitive type of songs, he used to use raags along with technology and excellent musical arrangements used to create a new sound. Now that uniqueness is lost.
The Greatest Indian musician, a self obsessed interviewer and a lame audience.
