- It's been a while since we had a self contained and canon Star Wars game. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order gives us that and so much more. The main draw is the customization for your lightsaber, because who never wanted to create their own? With Respawn at the helm, they nailed it. Using force powers in combat feels so natural and the planets you explore are so rich in their environments it's fun to find secrets. But of course with all the characters introduced in the game from Cal to the Inquisitors the best one stands out on top: BD1!

What is your favorite Star Wars game?
Empire at War: Forces of Corruption
It's between Force Unleashed 1 and this game.
Force Unleashed 1 was one of the first Star Wars games that I can remember that truly showed just how ridiculous the Force could get if the user wasn't holding back like the traditional Jedi, but you can tell it's an older game because the controls are a tad bit clunky nowadays.
Fallen Order took care of that issue and made the controls, movements, and combat silky smooth and difficult, but easy to pick up. The collectibles and map completions are a nightmare, but it's making me want to go through and explore every single nook and cranny as a result, even if I have gotten every single chest and 100% every planet's map and still be missing a few scan-ables.

I thought the game was the antithesis of fun.
Combat was unresponsive, unsatisfying and really quite bad.
The force powers were underwhelming and never made you feel powerful.
The gameplay overall was a huge disappointment for me especially considering the pedigree of the devs.
Thankfully the story was enjoyable and managed to somewhat redeem the game.
jorssu13 woosh. The point of the game is that you are a former padawan who had to go into hiding early due to order 66 so why would you be powerful? He hasnt used the force in 5 years and literally had to relearn everything through the game so yes you shouldnt be powerful
jorssu13 the maps were way too big and felt empty. It was basically ‘kill enemy’ ‘run against a wall’ collect sense’
@@bickle8931 Actually the point of every game is to be fun to play and Fallen order just isn't. But yea, the game still has an upgrade tree so you are supposed to feel stronger as you progress through the game, yet you don't. That is what i meant. I get your point tho and agree that in the beginning he should feel like a little bitch (and he does) but he should also be getting significantly stronger by the end as he reconnects with the force.
@@jorssu13 You do feel stronger by the end of the game...until Vader turns up and he makes you look small, as it should be. Everyone seems to think that every Jedi is some all powerful unstoppable force but some just weren't or aren't. Obi Wan wasn't exactly strong with force sensitivity but he made up for it with his fighting style which he became THE master of. I had no issues with the combat in this game no matter the difficulty. Remember you aren't a fully fledged and capable Jedi Knight, you're a padawan who didn't get anywhere close to finishing his training to the point that he barely grasped the basics.

Lol. I only had the first two games when they came out. The Complete Saga was only for 360/Ps3/Wii and I only had a Ps2.
Know it's basically the same, having the first two, but I still missed out on new missions.

Actually Dathomir was attacked by general Grievous in the clone wars and almost all the Nightsisters were killed
When Merrin tells you that her planet was attacked by someone with a lightsaber my first thought was that it was General Grievous
@@paullucas7504 She specifically says that an *armored* warrior wielding a lightsaber killed the Nightsisters. That line was absolutely referring to Grievous.
In the clone wars, yes, but apparenlty the empire has no business there.
Dathomir was attacked by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, not the Empire. At that point, the Empire didn't exist yet as it was still the Republic. General Grievous slaughtered almost all of the Nightsisters.

However the way the game presented it, "armored warrior wielding *a lightsaber* ", made it seem like it was possibly Vader. In my opinion it also made Merrin seem very stupid. "Oh that person had a lightsaber so all people who have lightsabers must be his friends."= Merrin's train of thought.

@@derekhofstetler3998 Jedi went to meditate there? I thought Cal and Cordova were the only two known Jedi to be in the Zeffo tombs. Cordova even said that the council met his discoveries with indifference. Plus, Elraim's tomb might be strong with the light side, but Miktrull was vain and selfish, and Kujet was just plain evil.

Just so you know, Battlefront 2 has changed completely, no loot boxes, more content, no pay to win, etc. Dice has really made a comeback and is 100% worth it.

Cal killed 443 Imperial personnel. Cal killed 13 bounty hunters. Cal killed 51 Dathomirians. I paused and recorded each kill on my second playthrough.

It's true for me. I have bloodborn for some years now and played it only couple of hours. Though this would be the same but it's so much more fun from start tu finish even tho I'm not star wars fan. I liked it cuz it's really good game

K X not really if you look at it from a lore perspective. His main goal even 5 years later is still to kill the last hiding Jedi knowing some would’ve escaped. So that also means force sensitive children are on his list as well.
@@maverickay5807 It makes more sense for him to appear than not. Vader and the inquisitors are at the height of their power, with several Jedi still alive, including Vaders main focus. The Empire has also sought out force sensitive children to kill and turn before. And lastly, Vader was ordered to govern the Inquisitors and has been foreshadowed earlier in the story. It would be worse if he didn't show up.

From a gameplay perspective it was kind of a waste. You only get in a few hits before you're forced to run away. I get it that Vader is that powerful and you cant beat him but itd be nice to be able to get more than 2 hits in before the game ends

Except Cal wasn't really a great Jedi. He bumbles through all but pretty much the actual boss fights that he wins and everything else major he has to have help getting through or out of. Not to say Luke was perfect either. He is a great character though, although there are general things I don't like about him.
Really hope we cross paths with Ahsoka in the sequel. She’s at her best in Rebels.
My brother and I have actually been speculating that the Mantis crew are going to run into the crew for the Ghost in the sequel, which would be awesome!
Dragonborn Express Ezra wouldn’t be in the Ghost Crew at this point (he’s only 5), but I could easily see Hera, Kanan, and Chopper for sure.

@HicksZ34 I watch every Completionist video the day it comes out, or the day after at the latest. I have for probably 3 years now. It's only over the last couple days that old Completionist vids that I've already seen are flooding my recommended videos all of the sudden. TH-cam has done that before with other channels. I'm not sure what causes it.
@HicksZ34 well it isnt really google or youtube or anyones choice to show you exactly those videos, its rather just the algorithm that somehow tries to make sense of what you might like to watch right now, and right now it determined exactly those videos are probably most interesting to you

I feel like this is more accurately comparable to Sekiro than Dark Souls.
*Dark Souls* for the checkpoints
*Bloodborne* for some of the movement
*Sekiro* for basically all the base combat and a few other things
*Ratchet & Clank* for that jumping side dodge thing
*Uncharted* for the climbing and set pieces

@@Shadowfire204 Sekiro has the checkpoint so you can basically just lump Dark Souls in with Sekiro and, what are you talking about with Bloodborne movement, that game has hardly any, Fallen Order is Sekiro movement - the grappling hook

That's how I am feeling about it. I decided to finally play the game after I had completed Sekiro, and that was a very good decision to make. It's got all the fast combat and mobility that Sekiro has. However, I do keep finding myself pressing buttons by accident because I think I'm still playing a SoulsBorne/Sekiro game!
Feels more like tomb raider remakes then uncharted. The movement feels identical at times.

Kenneth Nutter the bd-1 scans are many and there is no marker for them. You just have to find them. They don’t count towards planet completion but they do have an achievement
Kenneth Nutter as someone who just finished it its very tedious, you need every chest, 75 echos, every capacity upgrade, all the cordova logs, all the enemy scans, explore every little place in the game, beat all secret bosses, defeat every bounty type, get every upgrade

I had to go easy mode. Couldn't even hack it in normal mode. It got fun after that though.
Easy mode was actually the selling point for me for this game when I picked It up. I wanted to play it so bad but all I kept hearing is its like dark souls. Games I hate with a passion, so much so that I refuse to buy any games that people say are souls like.
But I played fallen order as a whole on easy and enjoyed the game as a tomb raider/uncharted like instead of a souls like which was a lot more fun for me.

When Darth was revealed at the end I got chills. Such an amazing and simple entrance yet so powerful. Can’t wait for Jedi Fallen Order 2!

Dathomir had a slide with one sharp turn that’s the only tine I ever had trouble with the slides don’t even understand why people think they are clunky

You kinda answered your own question. I only had trouble with one slide, too, but it was one of the numerous ones in the Zeffo underground. I liked them for the most part but they expected you to turn on a dime on too many of them without giving you the ability to actually do so.
I can say one thing after playing this game, NEVER going back to Dathomir

When peoplw said it's has Uncharted platforming, the thing I was seeing was God Of War: Ghost of Sparta. both games had legdes hang on, walls the climb (exactly same) and sliding.

Dark Souls is the Ninja Gaiden of 3D games
BD-1 is easily my second favorite character in the game. Cal is first of course. But oh my god, hes the most adorable thing in the fucking galaxy, maybe even the universe. Oh, and my third favorite character is the ships resident Bogling.

More helpful? Hell no, there literally would not be a Star Wars saga without R2D2 fixing the Naboo ship in phantom menace. But I understand he's probably just exaggerating or hyped after the game.
Well we don't see R2 throwing out healing stims, hacking enemy droids to our side, or search chests for useful stuff now do we?

As much as I loved the game, I didn't feel compelled to 100% it due to the items you find only being cosmetic
After beating the story I really haven’t felt like picking the game at all. The lack of fast travel, and cosmetic pieces are not worth hours of running in circles

Totally agree, fast travel would have been a huge plus as an unlock.especially considering how even one circle can take an hour to get through. Granted the map system does show you what you missed in an area, which he forgot to mention, so you know where to head to if you missed something but if it's in a temple have fun back tracking.

I felt like the lightsaber parts could've been used as upgrades to make switching modes faster, make the saber more powerful, etc. I also wasn't thrilled with the ponchos considering it's like the same model and they could've just let you choose the color scheme from the outset but I think I would've just liked to see more Jedi-like outfits instead heh. I haven't played it but I've watched several walkthroughs and it looks like it's a blast to play and there's more to like than to dislike but I really would've liked to see an actual Jedi leap and not just a double-jump lol

@@SA80TAGE Sure it did, but bonfires as save points, all the enemies respawning bar the minibosses and the dot reticule the you use to target enemies were all features found in soulsgames
And even if all those features have been collated together in a game before, fallen order came out after dark souls its fair to call it a soulslike
I think the main issue with it is that it’s like minion memes, just completely beating a horse that’s been dead for 30 years.
Samur/Aye maybe they did but not quite like this and besides, this is just what the genre is called new. Third person melee combat genre doesn’t roll off the tongue like souls-like.

Can I say I was kinda.. sad that after Merrin joins you... Everyone on Dathomir still tries to kill you... thought she'd get word out like "yo he is my friend now plz don't kill him"
Also.. wish force echos and BD scans contributed to exploration of a planet (albeit most times the missing like 5% i have is usually a tiny nook WITH one of those two things)
And wish i could put my own waypoints or something on the map so then if i wanna go somewhere the map can help guide me being like "oh hey this path is shortest" or.. "hey dead end"
The skill tree i wish was more... actual skill tree-ish...by end of game i had all but one skill.. and i didn't grind i just sorta went back on most planets and got some of the stuff (still only have 70% on Zeffo....gonna have fun doing that... but like 85-90% on everywhere else so pretty much if i been diligent and went back to everywhere i would of had every skill long before final area)
Yes I wish some of the cosmetics had some kind of effect on gameplay (ie wish the camo ponchos made it easier to sneak around on Kashyyk's wooden exterior or something)
Yeah it is a downer that Dathomir is still a big threat after all that. And I wish the different parts of the lightsaber could do some effects too

I usually dont buy full price games, its just too much money for me. But in this case I had to reward EA for making a Star Wars game everyone wanted with no micro transactions or pay2win stuff. Just a story game with a lot of quality.
Sure the game could have less bugs and less performance problems but I have to say: The money was still worth it.
The only other full price game I bought was Red Dead Redemption 2 because I was so hyped. But honestly the game disappointed me for that price. Much to discover but story was too boring until last quarter of the game.
So props to EA for doing stuff right after so long. Would always buy this game again.
BD-1 was a great droid. definatly in the running for a favorite in the Starwars universe. So, whats your favorite bd1 skin? I used the "joker" color skin for most of the game.
I wish the light saber parts had some effect on gameplay on a stats level or something. Maybe even a parts set bonus dependent on the kind of person the lightsaber parts belonged to where. Also the leveling up system could have been bigger considering it looked like those trees where all gonna explode into huge branches with those circle things at the end of them though I guess it was the right size for the content provided.

Love the video, but it's clear you haven't played Battlefront II since launch! It's an entirely different game that's based on progression, and microtransactions are limited to cosmetics. I highly recommend giving it another look.

I like the combat, but it doesn’t feel like I’m cutting things down with a lightsaber, it feels more like I’m swinging a glowing bat around

It’s a good game and it’s hard for a new player but once I got good it was easy even on grandmaster honestly. Hopefully they will have some optional way to scale the difficulty higher in the next one.
Cool Light-side Force Power from Jedi Academy that could've been here: Persuasion. In Jedi Academy it made hostile enemies friendly for a good amount of time lol
There’s an upgrade for bd later in the game that lets you hack protocol and security droids and they’ll attack enemies
These are not the droids.. seems very handy, but I'm guessing being able to bypass enemies, or make them fight didn't fit into the gameplay plan. Could have been cool though.

When you said, "and if that sounds a bit heavy for a star war." I was thinking that star wars is a heavy series.
I mean first was the clone wars, where we see a whole bunch of death, and sadness, even some characters like 99 when he died, or maybe revenge of the sith when we see betrayal, then rebels (as controversial as it is) I would say the one thing it does do good is show the effect after the clone wars, and how the rebellion starts. Basically star wars is pretty heavy at its core if you really watch the shows and movies.
