    KOTOR is arguably the most famous, and universally fan-approved Star Wars game. I grew up with it and many believe this Bioware game to be the grandfather of larger-than-life RPG titles of Jade Empire, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect. The graphics may not have aged well but Knights of the Old Republic makes up for it with amazing narrative depth.

      Wow irony. Ya. The episode 3 game is also good *not as good as kotor) its literally just *the* star wars fighting game. Its got its usual going through levels of the movie part. But the main part is its "multiplayer" (can be played against bots) part thats just an literally fighting game like street fighter but for jedi.

      SuriiK seeing how EA has a stranglehold on the Star Wars IP, that'll never happen. If it did happen, then expect loads of microtransactions and other crap. They'd probably give you only green sabers for Jedi and red for Sith and then make you have to pay for loot boxes for a chance to get the other colors

      There's quite a lot, and they're quite varied. Heck, some mods like The Brotherhood of Shadow (which is huge btw) and The Restored Content have become so popular that some consider them essential.
      I usually stick to the Restored Contents mods and a few cosmetic changes, but there are others you can that really change and/or improve the experience.

    • @schribbler1592
      @schribbler1592 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's been patched since the buggy release...yes. But that isn't what Nirvashv7 is talking about. The restored content mod is unofficial and separate from the Steam release. The mod is available on Steam though. In the workshop. And it does add a bit of extra to the game. Aside that is the planet M4-78, which was also cut from the game and adding in via modding.
      That said, beware of planet M4-78. It was also meant to be in the game, and if added will be tied into the story. Personally, I could have done without it, and thought it could have been better optimized and a bit less tedious than it turned out to be. Still awesome that they put all the work in that they did to put it back in the game. I just think they could have done better with some major parts of it.

    Knights of the Old Republic II is arguably better... IF you install the Content Restoration mod (which also fixes gazillions of bugs as well). Fortunately the Steam release of KotOR 2 has been updated more rigorously than KotOR 1's Steam version, and has not only Steam Workshop support, but also support for modern gamepads. This last is actually really good to have, as the KotOR games were previously console exclusive and were noooooooot designed with keyboard and mouse in mind. PC control is a bit awkward.
    But in spite of how rushed the original release was, Obsidian is better at writing and designing WRPGs than BioWare is, and that really, really shows in KotOR II.

      KotOR 3 will never happen, mainly because they've already moved past that era in the series. Revan, Bastilla, Meetra, and Carth are long dead, by this point (Ok, so Revan's not *exactly* dead, but that's getting into spoiler territory for the MMO) The closest you'll ever come to a true KotOR 3 experience is the Jedi Knight storyline in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Which is a damned good story, too, and *does* tie into the previous two games. Actually, *all* of the class stories in SWTOR are pretty great, albeit some moreso than others, but it's subjective and really about the kind of person *you* are. I do know people who preferred the Jedi Consular story over all others, but I personally found it a bit boring, at times. The "at times" part is a very important distinction because I *am* glad I played through it, and I *did* have a lot of fun as a Consular, as well. Just not as much as a Knight or Smuggler, which fit my personality (in gaming) as both a man of action and a sarcastic jackass, respectively. Actually, ironically, considering my own dislike of ranged characters, I probably had more fun as the Smuggler than as anyone else. Anyways, point is, SWTOR is great, it's F2P, go play it right now.

    This is definitely one of my favourite games ever. I remember playing it for the first time when I was around 15 in high school and being sick for a few days but managed to convince my mother to take me to choices (they were a smaller UK blockbusters rival company at the time, now gone) and I chose this to rent for 2 days. Oh man what a perfect choice I made! I was hooked from the start, I got as far as Dantooine and have nice memories of that murder side quest and just watching that giant manta ray fly around the sky. I remember being scared shitless of the Manaan planet (ocean world with the sharks and giant fish) when I was younger and on repeat play throughs id stop when I reached there.
    I may be wrong but I believe I went back and rented it once more before purchasing or my parents got me it. What an amazing and wonderful game. The soundtrack is phenomenal too and I always go back and listen to it. I would have never played it if I wasn’t away from school sick too! Anyone who hasn’t played this game should do so, Star Wars fan or not.
    Oh I miss old bioware. I love mass effect 1 and 2 and dragon age but new bioware is so bad... such a shame...

    Also, the second one is a lot better, you should give it a go, it is much more in-depth, there's a full on crafting system they introduce, more feats, more force powers, more companions, cooler and better items and more in-depth light/dark options that aren't comically over the edge like in the first game. Plus, while playing the game, interacting with characters and gaining influence by sympathizing with their ideals and appealing to their personality traits is super beneficial, not to mention they begin to stray towards whatever your alignment is as a little bonus. Having conversations and learning object lessons from them will grant your character bonus powers that can make a world of difference. For instance, completing the Handmaiden will grant you access to a power that lets you add your wisdom bonus to your defense, which is fantastic for characters, typically consulars, that have inherently high wisdom scores.

    • @sunnyh3arts
      @sunnyh3arts 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrKosobi Um...KOTOR 1 is pretty much the same. Kotor 2 is still good, it is much more fleshed out in terms of roleplaying, mechanics and how you interact with characters. Plus all the dialogue options and character dialogue is great. Is it unpolished here and there? Sure. But it doesnt detract from the experience.

    • @MrKosobi
      @MrKosobi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Spookerd00dle Gaming Yes, some characters were great, some not really. Mechanics themselves were indeed polished. They way you interacted with characters as well as interactions between themselves were incredibly well executed. Dialogues were great, for the most part. I don't disagree with any of these points.
      However planets' design was beyond awful. Kotor 1 had enjoyable planets all the way, Kotor 2 had incredibly boring Peragus, then Telos which was the most dull experience ever (both in terms of claustrophobical interiors as in terms of hyper-dull environmental plot), Korriban robbed of its content, Malachor V is hack'n'slash, Nar Shaddaa on which you just roamed around without a goal, Mandalorian moon with hedious textures taken straight out of Duke Nukem 3d...
      Furthermore, quests themselves were very boring and had 0 epicness of the quests from the first game. Just compare the swoop racing: in first kotor you had very elaborate questlines, with various characters, both good and evil, participating in them. In second kotors they aren't even a third of what they were in the first game.
      Each planet had something interesting going on, taking you on a trip to explore the planets' secrets. Kotor 2 has boring, dull plots on every planet.

      It was not bad, it was good, you just need to read about stuff not mentioned in the movie. I shall defend arguably the most criticized scene in the movie, the opening. To address the "Where are the y wings?" complaint, the y wing is a 60+ year old design in universe, created durring the clone wars, it's a obsolete design by now. At the time of the battle of yavin, they were only 30 years old, and even then they were having major matinence problems, so many in fact that the rebel removed most of the armor to make repairs easier. And before you try to dismiss my claims by saying that all the x wings are working, the original trilogy x wing was the t-65, the new trilogy x wing was the t 70 (notice the engine shape). The resistance appears to have planned the assault on the first order dreadnought out, indicated by the fact that Poe's x wing was equipped with a special booster that was perfect for the job. They needed a LOT of ordinance which is why they used those bombers. Each of those resistance bombers carrys 1000 proton bombs (more powerful than proton torpedoes), the y wing only carrys 20. to equal the payload of ONE bomber, you would need 50 y wings, and I doubt you could find 50 working y wings. The reason they waited so long to drop the bombs is that they were targeting the dreadnought's reactor (that's what the circle was). As for the reason the bombs fell when there was no gravity, (1) the data books state that the bombs are propelled out of the bomb bays using magnets (they could also have be carried down iinitially the bombers artificial gravity) with their momentum carrying them towards the target, and (2) despite what you might think, there is gravity in space. Everything has its own gravitational pull, it's just usually to small to be noticeable. An object as massive as that dreadnought (7.5 km long) would likely have a noticable pull. Also, orbital mechanics are not what most think, getting into orbit isn't a matter of getting high up, it's a matter of going fast. The ISS and the astronauts aboard it are going so fast around the Earth that the centrifugal force equals the pull of gravity. SIDE NOTE: don't correct me claiming "Its centripidal! Not centrifugal!" You are wrong if you think this, both are real, they refer to different forces, LOOK IT UP.
      Back to the subject,if the bombers were not moving sideways but instead using the Star Wars universe's anti gravity tech to keep it from falling, when the bombs were released, the bombs would fall as they are no longer being supported by the anti gravity generator or whatever it's called in Star Wars.
      While I can't find a way to defend the Leia flying scene, I can explain why Vice Admeral Holdo waited until after a bunch of shuttles got blown up to hyperdrive through the big ship (it's called the Supremacy), I acnt go Into all the deatails because this has gone on long enough (look up "Interdictor" on Wookiepedia for details, it will also show you how to prevent hyperspace ramming), the gist of it is that she had to do some fiddling with the hyperdrive to keep it from deactivating when it got to close to the supremacy.

My friend in college was the one with the Xbox and the game, and he allowed me to stay in his dorm room and play through on the condition that I go down the dark side and be evil -- something I had never done in a game before. He wanted to play as the light side, and in the interest of fully experiencing the game together, enlisted me to explore the darkness. It was a blast watching each other play through our respective paths, my yin to his yang, seeing how differently things had unraveled for us, including the endings, which were such a satisfying conclusion to the whole experiment.

      nooo thanks. microtransactions and half assed releases are not welcome in my favorite game.

      Dan Potato nope. They need a fuckton of fans to do a remake. If a company does a remake, it will probably be a super shitty cash grab. Like TOR. But, if fans do it, they have a better chance of getting it right.

    Ok so I'm watching this a bit late but PLEASE do kotor 2 (with the restoration mod) if not for it being an amazing story that honestly improves on kotor 1, then for more HK47 dialogue

    Have no idea the LOVE I have for this game. By far my favorite top 3 games of all time. The story, the progression, the combat. Something they definitely need to go back to. The story of Darth Revan is barely talked about, and he is one of the most interesting sith in star wars.

    Am I the only one who thinks having Rey’s parents be no one important was way more interesting?

      Vito makes a good point on it. It’s far more interesting for Rey to just come from a normal family and not some special force lineage... and then TROS came along

      Plus it really honed in on the message that was “anyone can be strong with the force, they just have to be open to it” but no, instead we got “nah, it’s all about bloodlines”
