    17:44 - CAT6 you want to push it in as far as possible. You really want to maintain the twist all the way to the connection point. When I terminate cat6 the casing is basically all the way up to the pins.

    Why did you not use a weather tight connection to the outdoor camera? It creates a water tight seal and prevents corrosion. The camera mount has openings which expose the connection to the elements. Doing this will drastically extend the life of the cameras.

    Hi, at around 18:20 mark you didn’t put the weathershield ring before you terminate it so when you connect them together you can lock them? I also tape it after with self amalgamating rubber tape for extra seal likewise I go round once or twice on the junction box seal too. And I also seal the hole inside the junction with silicone sealant where the cable pass through once I get the correct length I needed inside the junction box.

    As I see this is about a year old, have you been faced with lightening nearby causing the system to crash and reboot. I am near the capital of lightening here in the US and experienced originally lightening knocking out the cameras so that they needed to be replaced. I replaced the electrical box with a plastic one and that eliminated that issue. Now I have a 16 unit NVR that lightening knocking the whole unit even though it's on UPS. boxes for this are connected to metal eve's and I think this is providing a ground that may be feeding back through the system to have it trip.

    After some checking, I'm sold. One question for your comment on the new upgraded unit to avoid false alerts. I contacted Reolink and I am still trying to get a solid answer. I am comparing both units you mention in the video; the RLK16-800D8 & the RLK16-820D8-A. Reolink is telling me only that the cheaper model (but with more hard drive) has the person vehicle detection but will not confirm if its as good or has the same software as the 820D model you mention in the video.
    Can you provide backup or explain, confirm the 820D is better? Regarding facial recognition to avoid false alerts.

      @Sergio Nunez You must have one RJ45 cable routed from each camera to the NVR so an audio/video feed is supplied. An alternative with ReoLink is to use wireless cameras for locations you don't want to run ethernet cable.

    Great video! Thanks.
    Question: 1. The cable for each camera have to be connected with the NVR box?
    2. Or the the cable of each camera can be connected to the internet port in each room?

    • @carsonmtech
      @carsonmtech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can connect the cable from the ethernet port in the room to the NVR, you can use that! But yes, each camera must be plugged into the NVR individually.

      Gather a group of cameras into a PoE switch and then one cable from poe switch to NVR, can it?

    • @kookiedabear
      @kookiedabear 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@winters4960 No, as it wouldn't be able to display all of those cameras on one port. One camera per port on the ReoLink NVR.

    Any difference between the two style cameras other than how they look? How easy are the dome to aim?
    I would suggest some silicone caulking around the box at the wall.

      Specs on bullet and dome cameras are the same, it's a matter of preference. Silicone is not necessary, but the included weather-tight connectors should be installed before crimping on the RJ45 connector to ensure the connection is as sealed as the camera.

    If I have POE over my router and my own hard drive do I need to use the NVR for anything other than setup?

    What if there is a preexisting jb. How do you fit a reolink onto a non reolink jb?

    Did your kit come with the RJ45 connectors in the box? Mine didn’t.

    thank you for the discount code. almost covered the taxes. I didn't go with this model but 8 camera system 4k. Just wondering if you can change the resolution to get higher FPS? I would love to hit 60fps but 30 would be fine too. 4k at 20fps really doesn't look great to me.

    • @carsonmtech
      @carsonmtech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, that’s unfortunately not possible. I thought that 20fps was crazy as a video creator myself until you realize how much more data a 30fps stream over a 1 hour timeframe at 4K resolution can add to the hard drive. I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the 20fps. I wasn’t! I’m still not. It gives you enough that you can surely capture a frame of a license plate or a person’s face when necessary.

    Hi I'm installing this on my house does the NVR need to be on the network in other to see the cameras ? or i can just plug them in rights out of the box to the NVR to see them/. Thanks you!!!

    • @leolockman2356
      @leolockman2356 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the NVR does not have to be connected to your network router to test the cameras. The NVR is Power Over Ethernet abled out of the box; so plugging them into the NVR without the network connection will produce a display.
