It's ironic that fighting games get the same treatment. People see them as "full out brawl between 2 players" but when in reality, movement is key. Like in Tekken with side steps and Korean backdash, or Melee with wavedash, players will use every bug, exploit, and movement opportunity to their advantage, mastering every part of the character, and by that logic, Doomfist is a perfect fighting game character.
I don't play Doom, but I think he's one of the coolest characters in the game. His interactions with other characters are awesome. I especially like his interaction with Hanzo. He's all like "pain...and a sleeping dragon. Wake him up" that shit hits.
I had tried Doomfist lately, but sometimes I feel like an easier target than a Reinhardt standing still without his shield. Now about Titanfall 2, I'm sure it's going to be an epic video! Doom is easy, you just need decent mechanical skill, and apply pressure in the right places. If you mess up, you die though. Especially when your supports don't know how to play with/don't want to play with a Doomfist. Which is 90% of your games. People see non-Doom players suck at him, and assume he's a throw pick
I actually feel you, I mainly play fighting games over fps, and I wanted that in doom, then I stopped playing ow1 right after doom dropped and didn't play ow2 until just recently, and I was hoping to play what I heard was "punchy man but actually viable" and then I got this, which I have fun with every once and a while, but it's just not the doom I was hoping for

Power, thats the most recognisable thing about doomfist, fast strong motion, the feeling of charging a punch 10 meters away from a guy and just hitting him with so much power that he flies and hits a wall breaking the wall and all the bones of his body . Also i like the feeling of being a boss figth like orisa but in a different way , because of the insane mobility doomfist can be anywere on the map, there is no escape from his wrath...
I honestly agree with much of what you said here, the design, personality, abilities a character is given is what initially draws me to a character. I became a fan of OW1 Doom upon hearing about him and hoping he would be a brawler/combo character and a unique addition to the game, I have nothing against the fact that people fell in love with his mobility potential, but couldn’t help but think his changes into OW2 leave something to be desired as I hoped they would lean more into his brawler potential. It doesn’t necessarily feel true to what the character’s background and initial design was. I share the same sentiment with McCree/Cassidy, he’s always been a favorite of mine because he’s a smooth cowboy holding his own against future tech using old fashioned methods, which is why I hate the mag grenade he has now, it doesn’t feel like it’s something he’d actually use. Redesigns of various characters leading into OW2 have that problem for me of not staying true to who they were before, but I guess one could also argue it represents growth/change of mindset for those characters although I don’t believe that was ever Blizzards intention. Don't worry! They changed Cass's mag grenade into a long range homing bomb that shuts off movement abilities and essentially hacks Doomfist and Ball on cooldown!
I think the thing that's lacking the most in Doomfist right now is that his primary damage is the hand cannons, not the fist. It's like if Reinhardt had his hammer on a cooldown and fire strike was his primary damage. Honestly I think this could be resolved by changing his ult so he just starts brawling. Give him extra health like Primal Rage and turn his kit back to OW1, maybe change seismic slam to a different move during the ultimate so he can't escape easily and it's more like a commitment. Nobody REALLY likes meteor strike anyway.
I’ll admit that conceptually, I actually love Meteor Strike. The concept of a powerful dude leaping into the air and coming back down smashing anyone or anything in his way is awesome. Unfortunately it was changed in a way that makes only viable as an escape/reset like you said. Your idea of his kit becoming OW1 Doom’s kit I think is a cool idea, in my mind it’s almost like him going “Guess I have to get serious with this enemy” which allows him to retain his lore reputation as being a serious threat capable of crazy strength while also being balanced for gameplay purposes.
I can understand your perspective but I find that current doom feels closer to lore doom than in Overwatch 1. Even when he is played optimally I would argue that his movement is more of a complement that allows him to brawl better, so to speak, which feels closer to how I felt doom should be. I sort of toggle between “dive and get quick picks” and “punch the entire enemy team into a wall, instantly dealing 120 damage to all of them” depending on the situation. That kind of playstyle forced me to think a lot more about my positioning and decision making compared to certain other tanks just because I have so many options. That kind of tactical thinking that you use to position yourself so as to exert maximum pressure feels very doom befitting. I also feel like a skyscraper toppler whenever I play well on him because of the aoe punch and because I can chunk a Reinhardt to half health whenever I emp punch one. It feels damn good.
The problem comes to his 4 shotgun shots that do barely any damage unless you get a close headshot after a punch to the wall and also requires a low ping so you can actually punch and the immediately shoot
( I commented before watching the video )His movement is really good for flanking and getting health packs. I don't know how often it happens but some doom players forget you can charge his punch like a dash. His slam is also like a high jump.
Finally! A Giovanni video on my favorite character! I never played doom during ow1 when I did play and I kinda regret it cause tank doom has easily swept my off my feet with how fun it is to fly around the map and surprise people. I agree with everything you said about him, though I can't really comment about how you feel he's worse than ow1 doom. Really loved the videos and I'm not really picky about the black bars around the video thing, still eye candy either way! Looking forward to the Titanfall 2 video, I've never played it but your Hi-Fi RUSH and Dishonored videos were also very entertaining despite also being games I haven't played. I love both play styles of doom. Doom being that tanky brawler he was always meant to be is really fun. Old doom is also really fun. Having these set ups to pounce on enemies like a lion and the feel of using your abilities like a combo in a fighting game just feels so cool. I love both dooms but I wish we could play the old one still in custom games. Ik someone made a workshop for him but it’s quite buggy.

Honestly I do play doom as a brawler and that's what I wish he was your not alone in this You can kinda do it with his block and punch which I thought was a great step forward And you can sit on a choke punch them back and keep them back with empowered punches to launch a team back but he's still more mobility focused so he doesn't really end up being able to sustain this for too long
I remember playing him before the buff he got(that only lasted for a short amount of time) and learning him was difficult but fun. It felt like you needed to be careful when you play as Doomfist. Although once he got the buff, in just a short amount of time. You could just go all out and brawl enemies with him which was fun af xD
As a DoomFist main I agree with the majority of what you said. DoomFist In the beta of overwatch 2 in my opinion was awesome. Current doom is super weak and requires too many resources to be viable. I don’t think he will be back to where he was until there’s a lot more characters to counter him. People hate losing to DoomFist. It’s because he takes advantage of the enemies poor positioning etc. then the salt 🧂

Doomfist is one of those characters that I’d love to play and a backstory/place in the lore that I really like but I never play him and have never learned to.
When my Ana stands alone on the most exposed balcony, in front of attacker's spawn, and from in there I hear a chocolatey voice going "K! O! K! O! Fine! Hot Cocoa!" You better believe it's gonna be a rough time.
I didn't really touch doomfist back in overwatch 1, straight up because I agree with you: I felt like he was supposed to be balls to the walls, brawler, big punch guy thats supposed to not give a shit about taking damage. If you played him like that in ow1, you'd likely be throwing. I also hated how a random doomfist could fly one me from nowhere just cuz he was abusing a broken system in the game, 100-0 me and then get away with it. His voicelines, his personality, his appearence doesn't scream :''One kill then scramble or die, its worth anyways''. In ow2 I was instantly attracted to tankfist:decent movement, decent tankiness but, for the most part, not enough damage imo. I started playing him just AFTER his big nerfs in s2, and I had fun while it lasted, but everything became so...generic, making me feel like a punchbot even when I was doing my best to make smart moves, get kills and live. Doomfist is THE tank of his team, and he cant directly protect his team, so his best option is to create chaos on the opposing team's end, but if he does such little damage (that sometimes fails to appear, because of course doomfist is still the most bugges hero in the entire game) then he's not a treath, he's not a tank...he's just there. I quit ow2 like 1-2 weeks ago because I don't find it fun anymore. I hate the monetization, I despise how slow they are with balancing and how questionable their decisions are, but what made me truly leave, is the fact I felt they didnt give a shit about doom. Maybe I am just too bad to make doom work, but most everybody that actually plays a lot of doom I know have said that doomfist is very weak unless you're a master at him. Honestly my first experience with doom before I mained him was trying to be him. I overestimated how spongey he would be. In OW2 I started maining him because I finally noticed his skill ceiling and accepted him for what he was. Hes one of the most rewarding heroes in the game.
the 70+ techs were his skill ceiling they are mostly all gone and he feels miserable to play because of it. instead of getting rid of his techs that only 1% of doomfist players used they should of fixed the many bugs he has on going since the beta

This is 100% accurate. As a Doom main from OW 1 I can NOT for the LIFE OF ME play doom like the Doom mains in OW2. It's insane what Doom mains in the new game can do. They're so Oppressive when they're good. But in OW 1 I was capable of doing that without worrying about anyone throwing bullets into my face because by the time they put bullets on me I uppercut them into the air and they're getting launched into a wall afterwards
Nah fr having to relearn my main was such a L and all the slam and uppercut techs I learned are now useless lmao. I'm good with him in Ow2 again but it just sucks knowing how fun and dynamic he was in Ow1. I miss the combos, the rollouts the bouncing off walls and coming from unexpected angles and actually having a use for meteor striking people.
I play doom not cause the big fist is cool I play doom cause the disrespect when I kill people with the small fist instead of the big fist Also I probably like doom so much cause I did play I tiny tiny tiny bit of overwatch one however I never played doomfist when I played new doomfist it wasn’t a big change since it didn’t play the old one which made me love doom so much Finally I love movement I can’t play a slow character I can’t play sigma , I can’t play bastion , I can’t play zarya (zen and ana are exceptions) but I do see your point doom is see as a man who can destroy anything yet his pucnh use to do less damage then the small punch but movement is key for me (don’t trust me I am bad at overwatch I just love playing doom)
Was waiting for doomfist for a while. He is a very fun character but the switch between combos and brawling to extreme single target focus because of his lack of damage is a bit weird. He now probably the most mobile hero to play, the new seismic slam really helps with his kit. I think a good change were to be adding his uppercut back and binding it to the reload button (because he doesn’t need to reload). It would be a nice mix between his brawly combos I ow1 and high mobility ow2. Also, PLS PLS PLS release that titanfall 2 video as soon as possible, it is my favourite game of all time and pls make a review of it. See you on the frontier pilot.
towards the end of my ow1 career all i was doing was playing Doomfist on FFA. honestly thought he was one of the coolest FPS characters alongside Genji. had a huge blast and so far i haven’t had nearly the same amount of fun on tank Doomfist.

He has power, but only if you, the player, put it to use. I don't know how to put it to use, because that's not what I do, but when I see good Doom players play they dominate the battlefield. His abilities are not very good alone, but you can combine them and cancel them a lot more than any other hero. When you kill someone as Doom, you have earned it. You became, even so slightly, a strong and intelligent tactician, just like him. You have the power to win every game, but only if you put it to use. That, for me, is the Doomfist fantasy. Knocking back the hole team alone, predicting someone with his ult, appear from nowhere and just burst someone not because your fist oneshoots, but because you punch someone against a wall so you can quickly two tap them in the head. That's what a "strong and intelligent tactician" should look like in my eyes, not just pure force but a carefully constructed plan crafted in the moment of action, using your little abilities to make a HUGE impact._

As a 400 hour doomfist in just overwatch 2 so far, he is leagues above what he used to be. Doom is the premiere when it comes to being a scary tank. Imagine making a character who can counter every ability save for sleep, nade or suzu. His level of disruption is unmatched. I was a hanzo and zarya player in ow1. I cannot get enough of the faculty oozing from doom at all times. As a crackedfist, nobody can counter you. Nobody. Sadly people play him like his older counterpart or a Winston. Unrealized potential is the saddest of mans vicissitude.

All well and good but it was obvious doom was lackluster as dps in OW and they couldnt remove him from the catalog so they revamped his realized potential. Tank makes much more sense and his mobility is far better now. Old doom was just not as fun. This is a fact.

I like the topic you brought up about characters playing like how they should be played instead of the way they are actually played. Brig is the #1 character for this issue. She looks, feels, and has the kit to be played like mini rein but a support character. Instead of playing her like a close quarters support by being with her tank like lucio that’s not the viable way to play her. The viable way to play her is like a back line support with a shield. Even tho I’ve come to actually like this sort of playstyle as it’s a nice comfort pick for when you’re playing poorly on Ana or zen. I still can’t help but hurt that she’s being played the wrong way. I hope we get a support character that keeps the essence of how to actually play brig while also getting a rework for brig that encapsulates how she should be played.

I want a character that FEELS powerful and satisfying while being able to flow super good with badass looks and a badass voice... I hoped doom would be that guy, i play doom because i still love him but if i want the tingly feel of badassery and power i play heroes like ramattra... doom looks like he could solo a skyscraper where all he needs is one punch, but He Feels like a bullet train that hits like a wet d¡ldo with the voice of a diabolic angel I want to immerse myself in the world and characters....
im trying to learn doom rn and i learned how toxic people can be. it was a unranked match and my mei kept telling me to switch. i was on a 14 kill streak and just died. they were 6-12.
Doomfist was my second most played character in ow1. He was my favorite character to play by far because of everything u said, but the ow2 doom feels too weak, so I literally haven't touched him since. I get that his new movement is cool and fun but I lowkey miss the punchy character that would one tap half the game

Dude should not take 4years just to punch someone. He should be able to dive in and protect himself like dva or Winton. His block is too weak that's where I think he gets punished so much. Nah glass cannon doom was the best cause comboing two or the squishies from a rollout was like crack to me. They did him dirty in Ow2 and I hate that his combos are Epunch them into a wall and shoot them in the head. Lowkey boring compared to ow1 doom
Doom was never tanky enough to be a brawler. The movement techs added speed and suprise to the glass canon. This made him far more survivable and versatile but he ended up being a cc assasin.
Personally to me, the border thing around the video kinda confused me, and looks a bit odd, even though it's the same video, it looks like a video on top of another video, if that makes any sense.
While I’ve found equal success with doom in comparison to his old moveset after PvE was cancelled the only thing that could bring me back is if they brought back OG Doom
Never played OW1 so OW2 doom is the only one I know season 1 even tho he was weak I loved him so much and getting value was pain but when it happened it was so satisfying season 2 buffs happy then nerfs but even then I still enjoyed him I got to plat with him to get his gold fist (although now I kinda wanna get Reinhardts hammer pls help me) but doom is so satisfying even when orisa tells me I’m not allowed to have fun
My problem with new doom is how much it's based on the shotgun shots, and way less about the punch.... When you play new doom you want to punch, slam, punch , and punch some more... But if you do that you don't kill a fly, you have to hit shotgun headshots and little winy small hand punch (melee) to kill anything
I do think it was quite clever of blizzard to give him a shotgun, cause that means he has the potential to kill faster with extra damage by hitting headshots rather than just a fixed amount of damage with the same time-to-kill, like all melee attacks do. But I do wish he didn't have to rely on hitting every single shot almost perfectly to get good results.
I absolutely wanted a doomfist where I could feel tanky A doomfist who could still consistently throw out massive amount of damage One that felt like the monstrous villain that were told he is I love brawly hard hitting characters and always wanted something that could feel like a more Mobile Reinhardt and I wanted that when I heard he was gonna he changed into a tank How he is now isn’t quite what I wanted I need time to warmup and get myself into a certain mindset just to perform alright with him Unlike Reinhardt who at times I can just let my most primal of instincts control I’ve been able to play doom in a somewhat brawly fashion, I’ve been able to play doom at a functional level But in the process I’ve had to relook at how I perceive him and I don’t know how to feel about it

Getting a single kill matters a lot more now and nee doom is built around getting picks rather than all out tanking and brawling. He's a tank but a different kind of tank to the rest, a new style, kinda like balk where you go in, displace the enemy or get pick then head out, then redo
3:03 No, Current Tank Doom isn't better than Dps Doom( Only good thing tank doom has is super slam for that mobility but everything else is garbage ). Hell, Beta 1 Tank Doom is the superior version of tank doom, you had the techs and dmg. OW2 S1 Tank Doom is even better than the current Tank Doom. Don't get me wrong, he is a blast to play when everything aligns and works. But he is easily countered by anyone and anything + other tanks are just better than doom atm. Might change the title to "Why Doomfist has the most potential as a Tank in OW2" cause he sure as hell ain't dominant especially after the devs nerfed him without reverts/compensation and then buff the other tanks but Doom

I share the same sentiment with McCree/Cassidy, he’s always been a favorite of mine because he’s a smooth cowboy holding his own against future tech using old fashioned methods, which is why I hate the mag grenade he has now, it doesn’t feel like it’s something he’d actually use. Redesigns of various characters leading into OW2 have that problem for me of not staying true to who they were before, but I guess one could also argue it represents growth/change of mindset for those characters although I don’t believe that was ever Blizzards intention. Don't worry! They changed Cass's mag grenade into a long range homing bomb that shuts off movement abilities and essentially hacks Doomfist and Ball on cooldown!

I think the thing that's lacking the most in Doomfist right now is that his primary damage is the hand cannons, not the fist. It's like if Reinhardt had his hammer on a cooldown and fire strike was his primary damage.
Honestly I think this could be resolved by changing his ult so he just starts brawling. Give him extra health like Primal Rage and turn his kit back to OW1, maybe change seismic slam to a different move during the ultimate so he can't escape easily and it's more like a commitment.

I’ll admit that conceptually, I actually love Meteor Strike. The concept of a powerful dude leaping into the air and coming back down smashing anyone or anything in his way is awesome. Unfortunately it was changed in a way that makes only viable as an escape/reset like you said. Your idea of his kit becoming OW1 Doom’s kit I think is a cool idea, in my mind it’s almost like him going “Guess I have to get serious with this enemy” which allows him to retain his lore reputation as being a serious threat capable of crazy strength while also being balanced for gameplay purposes.

I can understand your perspective but I find that current doom feels closer to lore doom than in Overwatch 1. Even when he is played optimally I would argue that his movement is more of a complement that allows him to brawl better, so to speak, which feels closer to how I felt doom should be. I sort of toggle between “dive and get quick picks” and “punch the entire enemy team into a wall, instantly dealing 120 damage to all of them” depending on the situation. That kind of playstyle forced me to think a lot more about my positioning and decision making compared to certain other tanks just because I have so many options. That kind of tactical thinking that you use to position yourself so as to exert maximum pressure feels very doom befitting.
I also feel like a skyscraper toppler whenever I play well on him because of the aoe punch and because I can chunk a Reinhardt to half health whenever I emp punch one. It feels damn good.
You can be great with any tank, But slamming the whole enemy team as DoomFist is the most satisfying feeling in Overwatch.
The problem comes to his 4 shotgun shots that do barely any damage unless you get a close headshot after a punch to the wall and also requires a low ping so you can actually punch and the immediately shoot

Finally! A Giovanni video on my favorite character! I never played doom during ow1 when I did play and I kinda regret it cause tank doom has easily swept my off my feet with how fun it is to fly around the map and surprise people. I agree with everything you said about him, though I can't really comment about how you feel he's worse than ow1 doom. Really loved the videos and I'm not really picky about the black bars around the video thing, still eye candy either way! Looking forward to the Titanfall 2 video, I've never played it but your Hi-Fi RUSH and Dishonored videos were also very entertaining despite also being games I haven't played. I love both play styles of doom. Doom being that tanky brawler he was always meant to be is really fun. Old doom is also really fun. Having these set ups to pounce on enemies like a lion and the feel of using your abilities like a combo in a fighting game just feels so cool. I love both dooms but I wish we could play the old one still in custom games. Ik someone made a workshop for him but it’s quite buggy.

I remember playing him before the buff he got(that only lasted for a short amount of time) and learning him was difficult but fun. It felt like you needed to be careful when you play as Doomfist. Although once he got the buff, in just a short amount of time. You could just go all out and brawl enemies with him which was fun af xD

As a DoomFist main I agree with the majority of what you said. DoomFist In the beta of overwatch 2 in my opinion was awesome. Current doom is super weak and requires too many resources to be viable. I don’t think he will be back to where he was until there’s a lot more characters to counter him. People hate losing to DoomFist. It’s because he takes advantage of the enemies poor positioning etc. then the salt 🧂

I didn't really touch doomfist back in overwatch 1, straight up because I agree with you: I felt like he was supposed to be balls to the walls, brawler, big punch guy thats supposed to not give a shit about taking damage. If you played him like that in ow1, you'd likely be throwing. I also hated how a random doomfist could fly one me from nowhere just cuz he was abusing a broken system in the game, 100-0 me and then get away with it. His voicelines, his personality, his appearence doesn't scream :''One kill then scramble or die, its worth anyways''.
In ow2 I was instantly attracted to tankfist:decent movement, decent tankiness but, for the most part, not enough damage imo. I started playing him just AFTER his big nerfs in s2, and I had fun while it lasted, but everything became so...generic, making me feel like a punchbot even when I was doing my best to make smart moves, get kills and live. Doomfist is THE tank of his team, and he cant directly protect his team, so his best option is to create chaos on the opposing team's end, but if he does such little damage (that sometimes fails to appear, because of course doomfist is still the most bugges hero in the entire game) then he's not a treath, he's not a tank...he's just there.
I quit ow2 like 1-2 weeks ago because I don't find it fun anymore. I hate the monetization, I despise how slow they are with balancing and how questionable their decisions are, but what made me truly leave, is the fact I felt they didnt give a shit about doom. Maybe I am just too bad to make doom work, but most everybody that actually plays a lot of doom I know have said that doomfist is very weak unless you're a master at him.

not really but yeah I've been starting to realize ow2 isn't great at all and I only enjoyed it at first cause it was new, it's just worse ow1 now :( less personality (people have said there's less aids, like no double shield and stuns, there's other kinds of aids now, one shots being rampant cause of less shields, widow, and there are still lots of stuns AND DAMAGE for the SINGULAR tank to eat up all on their own now lol)

Honestly my first experience with doom before I mained him was trying to be him.
I overestimated how spongey he would be. In OW2 I started maining him because I finally noticed his skill ceiling and accepted him for what he was. Hes one of the most rewarding heroes in the game.
Unfortunately with his tech consistently being patched out his skill ceiling is the lowest it’s ever been

the 70+ techs were his skill ceiling they are mostly all gone and he feels miserable to play because of it. instead of getting rid of his techs that only 1% of doomfist players used they should of fixed the many bugs he has on going since the beta

This is 100% accurate. As a Doom main from OW 1 I can NOT for the LIFE OF ME play doom like the Doom mains in OW2. It's insane what Doom mains in the new game can do. They're so Oppressive when they're good. But in OW 1 I was capable of doing that without worrying about anyone throwing bullets into my face because by the time they put bullets on me I uppercut them into the air and they're getting launched into a wall afterwards
Nah fr having to relearn my main was such a L and all the slam and uppercut techs I learned are now useless lmao. I'm good with him in Ow2 again but it just sucks knowing how fun and dynamic he was in Ow1. I miss the combos, the rollouts the bouncing off walls and coming from unexpected angles and actually having a use for meteor striking people.

Finally I love movement I can’t play a slow character I can’t play sigma , I can’t play bastion , I can’t play zarya (zen and ana are exceptions) but I do see your point doom is see as a man who can destroy anything yet his pucnh use to do less damage then the small punch but movement is key for me (don’t trust me I am bad at overwatch I just love playing doom)
Small fist is really important for Doomfist, surprisingly. Not even for the shotgun, just punching with it.
Was waiting for doomfist for a while. He is a very fun character but the switch between combos and brawling to extreme single target focus because of his lack of damage is a bit weird. He now probably the most mobile hero to play, the new seismic slam really helps with his kit. I think a good change were to be adding his uppercut back and binding it to the reload button (because he doesn’t need to reload). It would be a nice mix between his brawly combos I ow1 and high mobility ow2.
Also, PLS PLS PLS release that titanfall 2 video as soon as possible, it is my favourite game of all time and pls make a review of it.

towards the end of my ow1 career all i was doing was playing Doomfist on FFA. honestly thought he was one of the coolest FPS characters alongside Genji. had a huge blast and so far i haven’t had nearly the same amount of fun on tank Doomfist.
_I really really really like seeing people who are good at doomfist play doomfist. I never experiencie Doomfist ow1, but I LOVE doom from ow2. He has power, but only if you, the player, put it to use. I don't know how to put it to use, because that's not what I do, but when I see good Doom players play they dominate the battlefield. His abilities are not very good alone, but you can combine them and cancel them a lot more than any other hero. When you kill someone as Doom, you have earned it. You became, even so slightly, a strong and intelligent tactician, just like him. You have the power to win every game, but only if you put it to use. That, for me, is the Doomfist fantasy. Knocking back the hole team alone, predicting someone with his ult, appear from nowhere and just burst someone not because your fist oneshoots, but because you punch someone against a wall so you can quickly two tap them in the head. That's what a "strong and intelligent tactician" should look like in my eyes, not just pure force but a carefully constructed plan crafted in the moment of action, using your little abilities to make a HUGE impact._

As a 400 hour doomfist in just overwatch 2 so far, he is leagues above what he used to be. Doom is the premiere when it comes to being a scary tank. Imagine making a character who can counter every ability save for sleep, nade or suzu. His level of disruption is unmatched. I was a hanzo and zarya player in ow1. I cannot get enough of the faculty oozing from doom at all times. As a crackedfist, nobody can counter you. Nobody. Sadly people play him like his older counterpart or a Winston. Unrealized potential is the saddest of mans vicissitude.

All well and good but it was obvious doom was lackluster as dps in OW and they couldnt remove him from the catalog so they revamped his realized potential. Tank makes much more sense and his mobility is far better now. Old doom was just not as fun. This is a fact.

I like the topic you brought up about characters playing like how they should be played instead of the way they are actually played. Brig is the #1 character for this issue. She looks, feels, and has the kit to be played like mini rein but a support character. Instead of playing her like a close quarters support by being with her tank like lucio that’s not the viable way to play her. The viable way to play her is like a back line support with a shield. Even tho I’ve come to actually like this sort of playstyle as it’s a nice comfort pick for when you’re playing poorly on Ana or zen. I still can’t help but hurt that she’s being played the wrong way. I hope we get a support character that keeps the essence of how to actually play brig while also getting a rework for brig that encapsulates how she should be played.

Doomfist was my second most played character in ow1. He was my favorite character to play by far because of everything u said, but the ow2 doom feels too weak, so I literally haven't touched him since. I get that his new movement is cool and fun but I lowkey miss the punchy character that would one tap half the game

i totally agree with your take, its sad seeing the love letter to the fighting game genre that doomfist was, the first and only melee brawler fighting character into a fps getting turned into a mobility character. the combo character that literally has no combos, he isnt the doom i fell in love with long long time ago. i hate it that blizzard changed his identity into a mobility based character and surely he isnt what he is/was supposed to be. With all that being said i dont hate current doom, infact i find him pretty cool and fun, but he is literally a different character with another's gimmick and personally slapped on him

Bro's editing is built different
Doom was never tanky enough to be a brawler. The movement techs added speed and suprise to the glass canon. This made him far more survivable and versatile but he ended up being a cc assasin.
Personally to me, the border thing around the video kinda confused me, and looks a bit odd, even though it's the same video, it looks like a video on top of another video, if that makes any sense.

Never played OW1 so OW2 doom is the only one I know season 1 even tho he was weak I loved him so much and getting value was pain but when it happened it was so satisfying season 2 buffs happy then nerfs but even then I still enjoyed him I got to plat with him to get his gold fist (although now I kinda wanna get Reinhardts hammer pls help me) but doom is so satisfying even when orisa tells me I’m not allowed to have fun

doomfist is so fun to play because i love obliterating the healers and the 225 or 250.
My problem with new doom is how much it's based on the shotgun shots, and way less about the punch....
When you play new doom you want to punch, slam, punch , and punch some more... But if you do that you don't kill a fly, you have to hit shotgun headshots and little winy small hand punch (melee) to kill anything

I do think it was quite clever of blizzard to give him a shotgun, cause that means he has the potential to kill faster with extra damage by hitting headshots rather than just a fixed amount of damage with the same time-to-kill, like all melee attacks do. But I do wish he didn't have to rely on hitting every single shot almost perfectly to get good results.

Getting a single kill matters a lot more now and nee doom is built around getting picks rather than all out tanking and brawling. No, Current Tank Doom isn't better than Dps Doom( Only good thing tank doom has is super slam for that mobility but everything else is garbage ). Hell, Beta 1 Tank Doom is the superior version of tank doom, you had the techs and dmg. OW2 S1 Tank Doom is even better than the current Tank Doom.
Don't get me wrong, he is a blast to play when everything aligns and works. But he is easily countered by anyone and anything + other tanks are just better than doom atm.
Might change the title to "Why Doomfist has the most potential as a Tank in OW2" cause he sure as hell ain't dominant especially after the devs nerfed him without reverts/compensation and then buff the other tanks but Doom
