I'm actually REALLY glad they put up that extra barrier wall. It was getting way to dangerous for folks. Seeing all that sand whipping up into people's faces and even pushing folks into the water. Just not fun considering the sound alone can damage your ear drums. It's one thing to plane watch/spot but another altogether when it gets dangerous and this was getting that way.
Beautiful catches I’ve visited this place 3 times and every time I go I always wonder why Air France always takes off towards the beach but KLM always takes off towards the mountain!
Airlines consider single engine obstacle clearance based off of their usual loads departing SXM toward the hill. Since air france departs for a direct long range flight, its considered safer for them to depart toward the sea in the event of engine failure at a high relative TOW.
Went here for our honeymoon before the big hurricane. Had a great time. Took pics of the landing. I tried this on MS flight sim also lol. Oh also the locals said don't stand at that fence, you can get really jacked up and I believe one person had died the same year we went. We went in 2017.
Great video! For 5 years in the early 2000s I worked on the ramp for Comair(OH) at CVG, but never understood the point of standing behind a jet engine like these folks.
45:54 I spent several seconds trying to figure out what Flamenco Cargo Shorts were and how they were related to this aircraft. Flamenco Cargo. Shorts 360. I got there eventually.
I went to St Maarten on a cruise but my family didnt want taxi down to Maho beach and I was SO close, kinda sad I didn't get to see this despite being like max 20 min away :(
I checked this off my bucket list in June of 2022, and we're taking my in-laws on an Eastern Caribbean cruise next February (2025) with a stop in Sint Maarten. We've already told them we're taking them to Maho Beach! White sand, turquoise water, a beach bar just a few steps away, and a steady stream of aircraft right over your head....that's close to a perfect day for me!
I'm loving your new spotting location! Probably the best location I've seen thus far from St Maarten for plane spotting! Also, is it just me or are many if these larger jets landing kind of late, farther down the runway compared to what I remember in the past videos from there? That runways is already a short one to begin with? I hope they have installed the newest runway overrun area at the end? I cam see a plane, especially at night in poor weather getting very close to over running? Thanks for the great videos my friend! 😊❤
@Calsaviation yes that's correct! I've seen the older KLM 747-400 landings there before and it's truly amazing they can do that there hahaha 😆 Thanks for your quick reply! Keep up the great work young man!
Superb footage and captures! Amazing compilation!
I Thought The Plane Was Gonna Crash Land At First: 27:06 Nice Tease. That Pilot Got Me Worried For a Second.
St. Maarten to the world.
Awesome video Cal, we miss SXM so much, thanks for upload it.

You should watch my Skiathos video in Greece to see another airport where people do the same thing!
The sound isn’t that bad when you’re behind jet engines though
Looks like that’s still happening.
Awesome catches all traffic landing take off at St Marteen Princess Juliana International Airport, i really enjoy it ❤❤❤

I recon it could be due to the KLM going on a shorter flight to another island. Maybe lower thrust setting for the beach compared to the Air France

Our cruise ship docked here 13th Jan . We spent the day at this beach its was fantastic .

Amazing video man, I hope to visit there soon

It’s fairly short but still long enough to land a B747 so usually plenty of room for an A330

13:40 I saw this same exact plane in LAX!
There is Sprit leading the way!!!!
Great video, new sub from indonesia
Ooo nice
That fence should have been there long ago lol
Nice princess Juliana princess jawahrat gold diamond airport beauty
Hi Cal, did you had to stay at The Morgan to use this spot?
Yes
This airport is so cool!! Do they have a good spotting area?
Well, you can't beat the beach for arrivals... (or departures like Air France,)
There is a bar along the side of the runway where you can spot from aswell
I will be posting video number 2 from this area tomorrow
0:11 Spirit A320 The Banana Plane
Quie hermoso aeropuerto si
livestream would be nice....721spotter is off
Why does AF take off in the reverse direction?
Seems as though they don’t want full thrust against the beach on the long haul flights. The KLM doesn’t go far
Imagine if Airbus A-380 landing there.
😉
Seria curioso.
runway way too short and narrow
Tienen videos más actuales
Ya que este es de noviembre del 2023!!!
I have a full time job and a backlog of videos to post.
Meu aeroporto ❤😂😂😂😂😂😂
Too many commercials
This island is making more money from this suicidal airport than beaches. 😂
