CRAZY Plane Spotting in ST. MAARTEN! Princess Juliana International Airport (4K)

- Princess Juliana International Airport (TNCM/SXM) on the Dutch side of the island of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten is arguably one of the most famous airports in the world.
Maho Beach, situated very close to the runway 10 threshold, is an iconic location for plane spotting, with low landings, waving pilots, and of course some jet and prop blast if you're brave enough to stand right behind planes as they take off.
I spent a week there in February 2023, and filmed this hour-long video from various points on Maho Beach, with a few other clips from a 10th floor, "Signature Island View" room at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort.
Enjoy!

That A340 was absolutely STUNNING! Nice catch
QATAR A340 is an excellent catch! Hope you're doing good Alex!
I wonder what It was doing at the airport at this time...
Members of the royal family on vacation perhaps...
I thought it got discontinued
@3B-bughini the A340 is used by the Qatari government. No longer a commercial aircraft.
more a QATAR Rocket...
The Qatar A340 is the absolute rarest plane you can ever hope for in sint marteen
What’s even rarer about it is that its the -500. Only 36 A340-500’s were built and only 7 remain active. Of those 7, this one with Qatar Amiri is only 1 of 2 still in a passenger configuration. 1 of them is being used by Sands Aviation for private charter and is the other in passenger configuration and 4 of them are being used by state governments.
In summation, the remaining A340-500’s are as follows
1 for Sands Aviation in the US
1 for Qatar Amiri
1 by the Turkish Government
1 for the Royal Thai Airforce
2 for Kuwait
3 were not built(2 for France and 1 for Kingfisher Airlines)
8 are stored
9 scrapped
10 are parked on various stands across the globe
The -500 truly is a rare bird.
@@jazzstar145 I know! It's crazy. Amazing plane.
A trislander! Nice catch!
That is the most bizarre looking plane I've ever seen.
12:23 My lord that sound solid of the P&W engines on the NEO
Finally the St. Maarten video!! :) thank you, Alex!
What an amazing collection, nice to see the KLM machine disappearing into the twilight. I don't envy people often,
but good grief, a whole week at St Maarten, that is a tripple WOW.
Thanks Alex,
Bas YVR
Been waiting all week for this video
GREAT work Alex! Seeing that A345 Amiri flight depart was sensational. - Bob (Toronto)
That Fokker 70 is a ex KLM Cityhopper 😍😍 i believe it was PH-KZD, what a beautiful catch 😁
Awesome video as always
The different angles by which you filmed this Outstanding Video, just Magnificent! Thank you very much,
Mr. Praglowski ❣ Roland Singh, Canada 🇨🇦
The best plane-spotting video I have seen! Brilliant videography, Alex! Splendid use of low angle of light at sunset, and appealing angles of view. Fabulous!
36:13 rb211s with the 757 my ears will experience heaven
You out did yourself, fantastic footage with the cherry on the cake saved for last, awesome!
Man I love the ATR42/74 engine sound when taxiing
Your videos are truly enjoyable to watch. No filler, all concentrated goodness. 😊
😊I'm watching this Planespotting Video in St.Maarten that Alex Posted I hope he'll Visit Other Caribbean Destinations next like Puerto Rico,Nassau even The Aruba,Curaçao and Bonaire. Just too name a few also I Heard that London City Airport even Heathrow and Gatwick Airports is the busy too Awesome Video Alex Praglowski keep going Man nuff Respect to all your Videos on Aviation and Travel!!!!
Aaaaaaahhhhhh, happy days, fantastic to see that
A340.last time we were there was the when the KLM jumbo used to come in.
Great videography.👍
I was waiting for this one
37:47 that 757F had a very close tail strike upon rotation and that A340 departure was spectacular
i think it’s more the curvature of the runway
My favourite was the Trislander for sure, along with the Otters and ATRs. Ta!
THANKS MY NAME IS ICKFORD WARNER FROM ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA I LOVE IT🎉🎉❤
If you want another angle there’s a new patio bar at El Zafiro you can walk to from Maho. You can also walk from there to Simpson Bay which is literally right beside the runway for additional views.
Great camera work! Beautiful place to spot.
8:13 ❤trislander it is super catch!!
Next time you go there Alex, take the Winair flight to Saba, the shortest runway in the world and I can recommend a hotel on Saba too. I was there for work a few times. I look forward to it.
brings back cool memories Qatar A345 magnificent
Thank you for sharing a great scene there in paradise!!😊😊😊
I love seeing the private business jets land and taking off!! They are so beautiful. I miss seeing a few private business aircraft in Los Angeles- LAX when we would land there.😊 The Gulfstream and Bombardier are just a few beautiful aircraft that I love seeing.😊
That was nice the JetBlue First Officer is waving at everyone!!!😊😊😊 Timing at 19:00. Nice!!😊😊
😂 Hahaha!! It is hard leaving a vacation paradise on the aircraft taking you home.😊 You always want to come back soon. Hahaha😊!! I feel that way about Hawaii!!😊😊
This was a real beauty. Great video quality, outstanding spotting location, nice selection of jets and turbos. Good catch on the BN Islander. This has to be one of your best presentations.
23:00 you can see the fo waving to presumably the camera
Such a beautiful airport! If you ever get the chance, you should plane spot at Santos Dumont in Rio. It’s my favorite airport in the world and makes for amazing scenic takeoff and landings!🇧🇷
Superb video. Couldnt ask for more
Very beautiful airport and some great captures
Love this - WOW!
Good loverayanair
hey Alex, great video! I just have one request: Is it possible for you to add in the flight times? I'm just curious about how long the planes took from their original destination. all in all can't wait for the next plane spotting video!!
That would be nice, too, and I believe you can also track those flights on flightradar24's channel. Of course, you'd have to know on which dates each of these shots were filmed, since there may have been more than one. I don't think it'll be that easy.
So nice! Best wishes from Munich, Germany!!!
Nice work man! Love the content please keep it coming🙌
Love it!
A340-500 is crazy
amazing! nice airport too
Good job
Great video, love to see the air traffic in the Caribbean always..
🔝 Top spotting video! 👍👍👍👍
The A340-500 is gorgeous, and catching one in St Maarten isn't likely easy. Great work, and probably fantastic luck.
Cool!
A345, head-on shot of the Trislander, shots from the Sunset Bar. What a video. Thanks
Wow!
Hey Alex! 👋 it's nice being able to live through you vicaresly hahaha 😆 however, have you ever seen a Boeing 777 land there? I'm assuming since 747's used to fly there with KLM, then certainly a 777 should be able to get in and out of this absolutely gorgeous tiny airport 😄 hahaha
Thanks Alex and stay safe always! Your friend a retired police officer from the US but now living full time in the Philippines 🇵🇭 since 2018! See ya later alligator after a while crocodile 🐊 😉 😜
Loved seeing the TriLander
Love it
That was totally epic! 🤩🤩🤩
TOO SHORT!! When I saw “1 :04” I thought way too long, I’ll break it up into 15 or 20 minute chunks over a few days. Hah! I was soon disabused of that idea. Your already superb photography just gets better and better. And do you have some deal with God for the great lighting? Now I’m sure I’ll have to get back to SXM again. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Awesome 👌
Thanks for sharing
Loved the big wave from the Delta 757 first officer on-the flight to Atlanta. Qatar 340 very rare in Saint Martin
What camera are you using ? The zoom and stabilisation are amazing
33:52 - Was that a little wave from the Air France captain? 🤗
Was hoping you’d show the beach when the 340 took off!!!
have you ever flown into YYG? Great video!!!!
Those 757 takeoffs are insane. 37:45 are you kidding me?? Insane plane
Yeah, almost a tail strike
@@Nobody_01012 i think it’s more the curvature of the runway
Im off there next yr to get married. I didn't realise there was an awesome spotting location at the airport.......imagine that 😂😂😂😂
I flew on the jetair Fokker back when they had the PJ-JAB in use last summer. Also CUR-SXM-CUR! Awesome little aircraft!
Wow! that must be a little tight for the A330’s and 340’s. Especially for the A340. They must have to keep it pretty light as that’s only a 7500 foot runway.
KLM 747 used to land there back in the days 😊
I know!
Good morning aw are you
Hi alex
hi
Fly across Eurasia in trijets next
Fantastic videos alex❤😊
That A-340 you caught is a private charter/Government Aircraft!!
32:50 that American 738 sounding like a fighter jet once it rotated
738?
@@jackgutzman1186 short designation for a 737-800
@@brandoncollins20 oh gotcha, I’ve seen that before and was always confused thinking maybe they mistyped or something. Thanks
40:22 Fokker 70 ex KLM city hopper..now stored
You don't get to see a Qatar A345 in SXM that often, what a catch !!
Royal family vacation on st Barts! Plane parked on st marteen
27:07 death stare😮
❤❤❤❤❤
Mr. Praglowski sure knows how to entertain us avgeeks. Huge congrats on 100K, Alex!
After a long time u upload video
I flew on UA N16713 from SQR-IAD A few months back, pretty cool to see the exact same plane from this point of view
48:57 did anyone else notice the heat “wave” behind this MAX?
Alex I think I've answered my earlier question regarding the Boeing 777 flying there, I see the Qatar Airways A340-500 there and if that beast can go there, then the Boeing 777 moat certainly can do it! Hahaha 😁
That Caribbean 737 Max came in hot
Alex videos are great man u should come to Nassau in the Bahamas to plane spot next
Love this video, Alex. But someone please tell me, isn't the runway small for some of the larger planes?
Wow only 10 minutes old!
Good to see your getting away from Canada...
I just about fell over when I saw the Trilander! Back in 1975 I flew on one in Fiji from Nausori (Suva) to Savusavu on a neighbouring island. Britten-Norman BN-2A Mk.III-2 Trislander, C/N 1004, Tail Number DQ-FCE.
What airline
@@matiasjacobsen2647 Air Pacific
I almost choked when i saw the thumbnail
So nice to see an A340 with "full-sized" engines. Lol
So you whent to St-marteen !!
omg A340-500 is quite rare tbh plus tha fact that the plane flew to ST maarten
8th comment btw cool video =]
What was the Qatar A340 doing there?
What camera were you using to film this video?
5000 ft runway! Longer?
Stoping 'First'
Great vid can u possibly catch the caribbean airlines ATR 72 -600 that comes every friday i think?
Great that a lot of the FOs wave to you, they know they are on camera for TH-cam!
