I Finally Visited St. Maarten!

- The Caribbean island of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten is an iconic vacation destination and home to just over 70,000 people.
It's also a bucket list destination for aviation enthusiasts, made famous for the low landings over Maho Beach at the end of the runway at Princess Juliana International Airport.
After saving up for a while, an opportunity came up to go and I booked a vacation there for February last year.
So, join me, as I spend a week in paradise and see what this amazing island has to offer!

My dad’s a pilot for Air Canada and a few years ago my family was able to watch on a livestream as he landed at St. Maarten
Man, didn't every avgeek see those 480p videos back in the day... what a memorable trip!
In my case, even at 244p resolution, as strange as it may seem.
I really appreciate the little island tour you gave despite being an aviation channel, it's great to learn what a place like St. Maarten really has to offer! You should keep up on those tours wherever your travels may take you :) Congrats on your well deserved 100K, Alex!

That’s awesome Alex! Shame KLM doesn’t send their B747’s there anymore, I was there when I was young and I still remember the massive B747 flying right above my head.
Yeah, me too.
The economy is on the down side, not enough passengers to fill the massive KLM bird.

Glad you got to make this trip. I really enjoyed my stay there many years ago. We rented a car and hit every beach there during one week.
The jet blast at that beach is no joke, saw a few people who were standing at the fence get blasted onto the road. I think that's why they put that mini fence in front of it now.

The wife and I vacy in St Maarten last July 2023. What a great time! Definitely going back.
It's great for sure, went several times as a kid, however the last time I went was back in 2019, it'd been a decade since, we always would connect to st barths

Congratulations on 100,000 subs! I love watching your videos. I just got back from a trip from Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I stayed at an all inclusive as well, and it was awesome. Our approach into Montego Bay airport was one of the coolest in my life. Caribbean airports are awesome. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations on 100,000 subscribers Alex! Very well deserved. The trip to Sint Maarten would be the perfect avgeek holiday. I visited the island in 2013 on a Caribbean cruise and would love to return. We had a great tour guide that day, who took us to Maho Beach among many other places. I was one of the few people on the tour who knew about it as I had been watching the KLM 747s coming and going on TH-cam.

One of the best trip reviews I've seen from St. Maarten. You really did it justice, I went back in 2022 and it was one of the most amazing places I've ever visited. When the Air France A330 departs west it's hilariously loud and I got a kick out of hearing all the car alarms going off!

Thanks for uploading. I did a eerily similar trip the following november. Stayed in the same hotel, visited all the same places, I saw TNCM hundreds of times as a child too. 2008 era. It was so nice to see all of this again because it was incredibly sad to leave. Next time you go, hike up the main mountain Peak Paradise. One of my favorite pictures looking down at the french side.

ST Maarten is definitely one of the places on my bucket list to go visit
Make sure you bring a "bucket" of cash with you. It looks like a little island. While it is not a typical tax heaven, it still offers lots of tax advantages for certain industries. The number of private planes you have seen belong to people who come to the island "for business purposes" and they do have the money to stay in Hotels that exceed what ordinary people can afford. Same with Restaurants. You can find reasonable prices but you have to be careful where you sit down.
