I Made a Full Sized CHESS SET for the Maker's Challenge! My longest Project Ever!

- In this one, we tackle my longest project ever! For this year's Maker's Challenge, I made a chess set! This is a project I have wanted to do for as long as I've been making things, so it feels so good to have accomplished this huge goal, and it came out SO much better than I could've ever hoped for! This project was the culmination of literally HUNDREDS of hours of work, and I am SO excited to share it with you all! That was absolutely freaking amazing! You have to be so proud of yourself to have completed that and on time! It looked phenomenal and I just am in awe of your talent! You are amazing! Nancy and I play backgammon almost every day. I've been thinking about making checkers for our game. I have not considered making the board. Now I feel like a real slacker that I haven't done this yet. You've inspired me to get going on that. Maybe I'll be done by next year's Makers Challenge!

That is awesome man! Turned out great! This is actually an idea I’ve had for a long time as well. I know it will take ages but what I want to do is make a Agate vs Jasper chess set. I have already hand-carved one pawn and it took ridiculously long haha. I used a diamond rotary bit like you did but now I need to figure out the most efficient way to polish it. Any ideas on how to get into the nook and crannies? That will probably be a big obstacle with the knight. I never expected to see someone else do this but it’s nice being able to learn from other’s tips and mistakes and stuff. I’ll probably need to get a lathe if I’m ever going to finish this project lol and even then it’s going to be a challenge.

I was given a soap stone chess set when I was a kid. All the pieces and the board are made out of stone. Awesome project. Well done.
