I think 2024 runs a lot better. I have a 7800x3d, 4090 with 64gbs of ram with gb internet. I'm glad I added an extra 32gbs of ram with the ram and vram issues. In dense areas like Los Angeles, I use about 50% of my gpu and around 32gbs of ram, peaking to 34 to 37gb peaks. I'm still getting 50 to 90 fps in LA area. LA area for some reason seems to be a problem spot even in 2020. In rural areas I'm easily getting over 100fps without any type of stuttering. Graphics are phenomenal. For me, 2024 has been very stable. The sim will even look better once the SamScene mods are available. I haven't tried career mode, because that's not the reason I use flight sims. I might try it later, but I've seen too many people complaining about the bugs on Reddit. What impressed me the most is the scenery and the night lighting. Even though I use Steam, if others on PC are on the fence, they should try it for a month with game pass. I don't have game pass, but they are trying to get me to join with a free month. If they have a free month, they should use it and try 2024.
You didn't even mention how you specifically use the sim in this region. What aircraft do you fly there? What mods do you specifically use? Do you fly online? What graphics settings do you have?
Yes, the night flying is incredible. This was the biggest weakness in 2020, and now I find myself flying as much at night as during the day. Also, when you throw in the amazing cloud graphics, flying IFR at night is pretty immersive. It is stunning visually. Still a lot of bugs, but it is now stable, and fairly smooth.
I see a wide range of comments here and elsewhere from "It's working fine for me, with just a few issues I'm sure they'll fix soon" to "It crashes every time I start it, I've never been able to fly" and everywhere in between. If I wanted to pay a big chunk of money to find out if I'm one of the lucky ones, I'd buy a stack of lottery tickets, not a flight sim. I'll stick with 2020 until the volume of complaining comments gets down to a trickle. I tested software for a living for thirty years before I retired. I'm not going pay to do it now.
@@sivoltage- I have Game Pass on Xbox, but 2024 is not included at my level, so I'd have to buy the sim or upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate for $20/month just to try it out.
Even at $20 it's a great way to try it out. There are a tonne of other amazing games on the service you can play for the remainder of the month if it doesn't work out
I could be wrong, but my theory is that all the ones who are loving it have great internet speed and good PCs, and all the ones moaning and saying it's rubbish have slow internet and consoles or old PCs. Internet speed is going to make or break the experience just as much as your hardware when everything is being streamed.
I have a good PC, and although I don't have issues with loading or crashing, I still can't set up my peripherals, and most of the bindings don't work. If they are going to cater to the gamers and make it available on Xbox, they still have to make it work properly. They are trying to please everybody and so far, they haven't pleased too many people. They have to decide what they are, a sim or a game, and focus on that. It's all about money, isn't it?
Buying the Xbox series X version was a BIG WASTE of $140. ( for the Premium Deluxe version ). I’m not gonna wait four years for it to all get straighten out ! Glad I kept the 2020 !
I'm on series X. Performance is improved, but the mouse is uncontrollably sensitive, no matter what settings are changed. I bought a new V1 stick for this, so I'm pretty annoyed that this long after launch, something that feels as fundamental as mouse controls are virtually nonfunctional, at least for me and many others from what I can tell on forums.
We were strung along just long enough to get past the 14 day no return policy. Nothing has been fixed on Xbox that is noticeable. No mouse fix, spawning everywhere but in the pilot’s seat, controls constantly needing to be reconfigured, crashing. If you only want to fly the Cessna 172 great, works pretty good. But that’s it. If you haven’t tried 2024,I would recommend you don’t. Because the scenery is much better in 2024, You’ll only be disappointed when you eventually go back to 2020.
"Because the scenery is much better in 2024, You’ll only be disappointed when you eventually go back to 2020." This is what happened to me. After a month of struggling with controls and performance and crashes I gave up and asked for a refund. Which was granted. But now my flight in FS2020 are spoiled because I know what is possible.
@@peterrowney5180 Put in a request yesterday explaining in detail why I didn’t request a refund early and. They denied it within an hour. I guess Bill Gates is a little tight on cash these days. I was just going to take the money and buy a few planes for 2020. Which I’ve been playing for the last few weeks. Really shows how much they care about their customers.
If you are a gamer, it's ok. If you are a pro simer who uses komplex airkraft, komplex procedures from big airport to big Airport, it's unstable and unflyable!
The aircraft used and where you fly have nothing to do with performance - just read the pinned comment. I've tried complex airliners from major airport to major airport and the sim ran fine - as it does for many people. The performance issues are determined by a lot of factors - your PC hardware, your internet speed, how busy the sim is when you log on, and that's just 3 factors. Your comment is completely valid, I'm not disputing you're having issues. But the way you've worded it like you're talking for all of us is very disingenuous.
You don't need to defend an alpha. Only defend it when it's ready for release. I believe you that you mostly have no problems, but I doubt that you use a lot of mods, fly with VATSIM and all that with study level aircraft and with 3rd party live air traffic, because many mods don't work properly and the many bugs cause instability.
@@GBTC2011Yeah that was the board room move that hurts every genre. Instead of going flat-out 100% toward their core enthusiasts/fanbase, they try to spread it out to appeal to as broad as an audience as possible, even to the point of emulating other franchise art/design choices (GTA). I’m at least hoping that for the future, they can say “Ok, the gamers have their flying game. Little Timmy has his airplane game, now let’s get back to type 1 and type 3 users”. (pilots/industry workers/enthusiasts/virtual world tourists). We can completely do away with generic elements, “adaptive liveries” and all the other uber-casual elements.
Xbox Series X user here... Love this video, really useful for anyone on the fence about getting the new sim. I absolutely love it and would recommend to anyone to get it. I agree with you that the best way is to try it using Gamepass, we are so lucky to have that option. I have it that way but would be more than happy with it if I had outright bought it as well. I have very few of the issues some others Xbox users have had and can confidently jump on and be flying around very quickly, especially since the last update which speeded up the loading process significantly. Graphically I find it great, buildings can at times seem a bit muddy looking and the occasional bit of pop-in of buildings in densely populated areas with the horizon also flickering at times but overall I love it and have no complaints at all. The sim is stable and runs very smoothly for me, no stuttering or poor frame rates at all. Stunning performance for Xbox so I'm very surprised to see some negative comments about it on this platform. Maybe more to do with Internet connection than anything else as that's the only thing that could be different on a closed system. I'm only on a connection of about 250 atm and wireless. I can have a wired connection but have to reroute my wired connection due to the wire being run to my previous router in a different part of the room. I'll get to that at some point. Mouse look needs sorting but I can use my mouse fine for everything else.
@@sorrowinchrist3387 The AI was always a bit dumb, but the career mode is very buggy I agree. To the point where I've had to stop playing that mode until it's been fixed.
I'm fuming that the Multiplayer is as abysmal and vacuously SHIT in MSFS2024... literally you're just aimlessly flying around with no Shared Cockpit, no ability to see your friends for the most part, nothing. It's dumb. It's pathetic. I hate it... ... unless I'm doing something wrong?
Check out twotonemurphy and his first 2024 group flight stream. In the beginning of the video he goes through multiplayer settings. No shared cockpit though.
@acurisur they need to put it in ASAP. It needs to be a thing and it baffles me to think they didn't make this when implementing the multiplayer mode in the first place. Private servers too, so we can fly with just our friends etc. Loads of potential
Ive put around 50 hours into it. Mostly in the career mode flying the C172. Biggest issues ive experienced is giant trenches in the middle of the airport making missions impossible and hold shorts that are impossible to make without leaving the runway and getting docked.
I hope you do a follow on when the Xbox issues are mostly fixed. I love your videos and have learned a great deal from them. A new computer just isn’t my future for now, so I’m enjoying on my Xbox X.
Thank you for another great video Huddison, I really enjoy the style and honesty of your content, please keep up the good work! I'm on the fence about 2024 at the moment, I fully intended to upgrade over the Christmas break but I keep hearing too much negative feedback, sticking with 2020 and XP12 for now until I'm convinced, mainly fly airliners over longer distances and would get very frustrated if a CTD occurred half way through a flight...
Hi Huddison! Great video again. The biggest winners are the X-Box users on the point-of-hardware-view. My last one was X-Plane 8, so I cannot compare theese really. But I like the MSFS 2024, looks great, got no performance issuses. I'm doing it w/o any addons. Hardware: AMD 7950X3D, X670 board, 64GB DDR5-6000 Ram, MSI RTX 3090 (the 4080 Super is on the way), Thrustmaster A-10 HOTAS, TM Pedals, Honeycomb Yoke. I know that some thing are unfinished, but I'm sure they will be fixed. Enjoy it!
On Series X, I find that the POI (cities and towns ID) don't populate, yet every ship at sea including the Great Lakes has an ID. Many of the trees resemble large black boxes. Anxious for the marketplace to open.
After that last update (20122024) Some of the functions are starting to work.. Still too many aircraft are buggy, either electronics or avionics . I.E. what’s with the doughnut in the c172 g1000?
Disagree with The Graphical experience in my time playing The Areas I regularly fly in Such as Dublin Looked noticeably better in 2020 on Series X Also Several Areas have been Downgraded Graphically on Series X since Launch so I've gone back to 2020 I'll return to 2024 in 2026 Hopefully its fixed then
It seems like Series X version is pretty much on pair with Series S. At the moment and with around 500 hours of flight time on 2020, i can't recommend to anyone playing the sim on Series X. It's poorly optimized, full of bugs, issues of any kind and graphic wise a downgrade from 2020.
Could have been so much better a launch for Asobo if they had just arranged with Microsoft to open a preview version of 2024 like the beta stream for 2020, then we had 6 months of testing before MSFS *2025* launched proper next summer. I can't escape the feeling that MS, with one eye always on the GP subscriber numbers, had promised investors it would launch in 'holiday' (🎅) season 2024 and would add x% to GPU subs. I could imagine it is not a pleasant working environment at Asobo just now, I'm not sure the internet shitting all over them really is helpful. p.s. not saying you are doing that Huddison! your views are pretty balanced and you call out the good parts and the shit parts in MSFS. Merry Christmas! 🎅
On Xbox Series X I now have pretty good graphics, the game is truly beautiful in many areas. I quit and relaunch the game if it was still active after quick resume, and I purge the rolling cache after each patch. It has improved a lot the graphics doing that.
PC user. As we fulltime travel in the RV across the US we use starlink. Have had no issues. Download is about 130. Only issues I’ve had are ATC related and the odd spawning of the plane on a building. But am pretty happy and lucky. Cheers and Merry Christmas to you
I am using 2024 and not going back to 2020, for multiple reasons but one *big* one. I like to fly out to remote airstrips in the middle of nowhere, which I could do in 2020, but once there I couldn’t do much other than fly back home, or exit the sim. In 2024, though, I can *get out of my plane and walk around*, and the natural world is vastly improved from 2020. It also helps that two of the least problematic planes in the whole sim (Draco and Norden) are perfect for this, and that the performance issues at big airports in big cities don’t impact tiny dirt airstrips in the forest. If I were into study-level airliners, or career mode, I would probably have a different experience. What you like to do makes a huge difference in whether 2024 is right for you now.
I, too, generally think it's ok to "jump in", although I would recommend just waist-level ( Game Pass like some, or the Standard Version) especially IF you aren't into all the various, what I call distractions, I.E. Photo, Career, Challenge, etc. modes. I think from what I've read elsewhere- those are a mess. Sure there are definitely some bugs, particularly in specific aircraft that I won't go into here. Personally, I wish they had just concentrated on the "Free Flight" mode - upgrading all the things from FS2020, accordingly. Too much of a bite, this, the leap from FS2020 to the present version of FS2024, in my opinion.
Took a flight on the west coast of the US with my Series X yesterday, and MSFS24 has improved again. Landscape ist less often popping up in sight and the weather (clouds, mist, haze) was looking very natural now. Live flight data was not available this time. Are there any recommended items from the MSFS2020 premium deluxe edition to switch on in 2024 standard edition?
I have a max 38mbps Internet link, so until performance is substantially improved at the MS server end, or they provide the option(s) to download content, I'll be sticking with 2020. And, I'm not convinced about some aspects of the lighting - shadows underneath aircraft on the ground, especially airliners, is way off, they are just not dark enough. You'd think this would be fairly easy to fix, but it's just another reason for me to hold off.
Hudds ... More excellent videos showcasing FS2024. A few questions you might help with before I decide. Have an Xbox X and just wondering can you have both 2020 and 2024 on the Xbox. Also will my Through Hotas work seamlessly with FS2024. Any advice would be most appreciated. Will I or wont I. Happy Christmas 🎄
You can keep both sims installed & play them both independently. You may need to do a bit of setup with your Hotas; check my FS2024 setup video for it.
After the update they had today, my turtle beach yoke does not work, well some buttons such as the brake button I assigned it for. I kinda get tired of it
I bought it day one, and have been very frustrated. Got my FFB yoke and rudders working. My Logitech panels are working as long as I use the little hack where you have to run a command line every time. The actual performance of the sim has not been bad at all. I didn't realize how much I used Flow Pro until I lost it. Can't wait for the update from //42. I used the hack to make the Tobii eye tracker (sort of) work., but am eagerly awaiting the formal update. I'm not a fan of the Controls setup, but figure I will get used to it. I had the Aircraft Manager and Location Manager by SonicViz and loved it, but 2024 has disabled it. I wish there was a complete summary of all of the plugins, and whether they work with 2024, and HOW you make them wor all in one place.. Is the multiplayer still not working well? My setup is an Intel I7, nVidia 4080 Super, 32 gigs of RAM, GB intenet.
I really mis Flow Pro too - it's almost use-able in FS2020 (just need to find a way past the Help Meuu/Tab key). Simhanger did a successful multiplayer/Group flight last weekend; didn't you join that one?
I think I feel good about my decision to wait, and although getting MSFS 2024 from Santa may land me in a performance bottleneck with a LOT of other Xmas gift recipients, I'm optimistic about how this will function when Santa's been.
It’s been working fine for me on Xbox S (US) …..if you covered this already I missed it but I’ve already followed your binding video for the V1 flightstick and it worked great but my one issue is it’s not saving the 6/7 axis settings for the cockpit?? Is this me or an issue with the sim?
I was really enjoying the career mode for a while but it only held my interest briefly and the novelty soon wore off. Way too easy and arcade like. I'm running both 2020 and 2024 for just flying around and enjoy them equally. I think all MS and Asobo needed to do was to add the new 'tricks' from 24 into 2020 and we would now have one hell of a sim. I'm not uninstalling 2020 anytime soon.
I can’t fly on Xbox SX at all because of a stupid mouse problem so I haven’t even flown anything. I don’t think it’s going to get fixed anytime soon because it’s Xbox.
On series x crazy dust when planes are on some runways which looks as if the engines are on fire. Have you tried all inibuilds planes on xbox. Why they can't allow us to upload a flight plan from the world map or Ms online flight planner, rather than relying on Simbrief or manual 8s beyond me. Inibuilds planes are a nightmare as they often don't follow the flightplan (737 max 8) or you can't input the ils frequency in Airbus 320 v2. Also, when exiting the flight in airbus a310 300, the sim freezes and has to be started from scratch. And the Airbus A320 (v2) accelerates when you enter cursor mode.
I'll give FS2024 one thing, for a "flight simulator", it sure does an awesome job of simulating giraffes and deer. The truth is MSFS2024 is an utter bug-ridden disgrace. From the disastrous launch, when they should have known about server loads, to the hundreds and hundreds of bugs in the program. Airports missing terminals, entire airports missing, airborne jetways, aircraft with wings missing, avatars hanging upside down out of flying aircraft, blurry terrain, CTDs etc etc. It's utterly pathetic. They rushed it out and they knew it wasn't ready. It's going to take at least a full year before it's even close to fixed, if ever. If you're wondering who the beta testers are, it's the people who bought this joke of a program. I got a refund as I won't reward their incompetence and I won't pay for the privilege of being a beta-tester. Probably good for kids and gamers, but if you want a "flight-simulator" then don't buy it.
@@Huddison Thanks. Going to try that out later. I finally found elephants in Africa, but they kept glitching and popping in and out. I photographed many of them but the star wouldn't unlock, despite me doing everything it said. It actually unlocked 3 Zebra stars, and then I took more photos and it dropped down to 2. lol
Im on an Xbox X. I’m really liking flying the a2a Comanche and the stock twin otter. I’m very interested in the a400m, so I started with some a320neo tutorials to get me started. Lots of freezes, and I’m pretty sure the descent stage doesn’t work correctly. I’ve not been able to do any approaches on AP. But, it looks so good, the mountains in my hometown look exactly right. I think the night lighting is pretty bad still on Xbox too.
I still have 2020 installed but haven’t flown in it for a couple of weeks. I’m enjoying 2024 despite its bugs and flaws. It’s beautiful and smooth, even on my midrange 4 year old pc. I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I’m enjoying career mode. I’m only level 8 so just getting started, but it’s quite fun and I don’t mind the gamey aspect of it. Maybe I’m a weirdo but I find flying thru the boxes strangely fun, and don’t plan to turn them off. Some of the bugs are very frustrating but it’s still amazing and only getting better.
I am loving the graphics in 2024. The big patch fixed the stablity, and while it still has a few stutters, it is mostly smooth, and in fact, while I was epecting fewer FPS, in pratice, the reality is that in some cases it runs faster. There are still lots of bugs around the EFB and in plane avionics (they never seem to agree, even when you use the options in the EFB to upload or download to avionics. Also, aircraft handling on runways is too touchy.
It’s still too broken for me to do what I want to do. Wasn’t expecting to pay for a game in 2024 and not be able to play it until sometime in 2025. Cheeky bar stewards. Back to 2020 for now.
Not for me, maybe in a few months maybe longer, hand on heart I haven't seen anything that has excited me to change over, not at all interested in the career mode.
Wasn’t happy with the performance on my Xbox x so ordered a new pc from Awd-it with similar specs as the one you ordered I was pleased with the help I got from them as we where able to keep the build near to my limited budget if I get the same performance like you get I’ll be happy can you let me know if you change any settings in your nvidia 3d panel
Have they finally fixed the issues with the Thrustmaster Velocity One Flight Deck not acting weird and not having a pre-built profile? I thought with FS2024 we were supposed to finally have native support for adding visual armaments on our airframes but either it's coming later or I can't figure out how to get it to work with the F-22. As far as performance, it's been fine for me so far. 7900x, evga 3080 ftw3 ultra, 32gigs of ddr5-6000. I am gonna be upgrading to a 5080, 64 gigs of ram, and either a 9950 or 9950x3d. Just hoping the 9950x3d is a lot better than the 7950x3d because that cpu was a massive disappointment.
@Huddison I hear ya. It's just time for my gpu upgrade cycle and figured I'd do a cpu upgrade as well. Gonna put my 3080 on display because RIP EVGA lol
I wish I held off. But at the same time am glad I didn't. It's a strange feeling. Things are broken which I'm sure have ruined the experience for me, but most of all BT have let me down where they were supposed to install Full Fibre and never showed up, so I'm playing it on slow internet and it sucks sometimes. But I'm still having fun as a noobie to flight sims. Learning a lot, but it is frustrating at times when it breaks
@@Huddison Yes. I'm down in the dumps right now because Open Reach were supposed to install FTTP yesterday. Waited all day and they never showed up. Now have to wait 11 days to reschedule. Sick of seeing "Couldn't load live air traffic" and buildings taking ages to load in. I've had to limit myself to just nature flights in the mean time.
What’s going on ? It’s working ha ha .. using Xbox x with 96 mbps internet speed , flying a 330-200 RR engines, starting flight from EDDK ( larger airport usually ctd ) I’m thoroughly enjoying it very smooth, very clear and sharp wow
Huddison if this the case it must depend what region you are ! Even though I re-install various times My career mode in Xbox platform still broken very much so ! And I'm not the only one!
Looks great but due to the fact I've got 100mbit bandwidth, which is all I need, I'll be sticking with FS2020. Perhaps later, if Microsoft give us the option to download airports and aircraft to ease the bandwidth like 2020, not to mention having all my addons compatible I'll go for 2024.
Is flight sim the only bandwidth demanding thing you do on your internet? Just curious i’m a network engineer myself and like to help educate folks as more bandwidth will always lead to a better experience with everything you do.
Too me it's buggy; The cj4 has flickering textures, I can't control the cockpit views in the vision jet. I am sticking with 2020 until those are fixed.
It took me a while to set up and get used to new bindings and fiddle with graphics settings but now I’m very happy. For me, it runs very smooth and with higher fps than 2020 on my modest PC (5700x, 4070, 32gb, 1440p) and mostly looks great. I have 300mb broadband but I do get an occasional stutter when landing in a new airport. I only fly GA so don’t know how things perform with big airliners. I haven’t uninstalled 2020 yet but I haven’t used that since getting 2024 a month ago. My main disappointment is that my favourite plane from 2020 - the M20r Mooney - doesn’t run well and for me there isn’t a comparable plane in 2024 at the mo. I would say yes, give 2024 a go. I used MS reward points to buy a month’s PC game pass and try it before purchasing the premium-deluxe version with the 10% game-pass discount (saved £13).
I haven't been on much since the last update and loading seems to take a bit longer but it's still quick compared to 2020. If i have 30mins spare at the end of the day, I can now do a quick free flight but with 2020, half that time would be loading to the runway. My internet cost is also increasing in March and I think I can upgrade for that same price, so I may as well, even though it means some engineer hassle on my end and the need to get a ethernet hub.
Hello huddison Love the channel. 2024 msfs is a NO from me I'm on series s managed a flight on 2024 but i was underwhelmed the graphics were under par, but I've sorted 2020 by turning off quick resume mfsf2020 is doing what it should I'm loving msfs2020 like never before!
I think you are missing a qualifier in your advice, especially for pc gamers... you are going to need a very, very expensive system to have any chance of a good experience.
It should never have been released. I run minimum pc with medium settings and graphics are great until I fly some planes and find on the Beechcraft the pilots head is through the roof and passengers are upside down under the plane GREAT. Others will not fly and some controls will not work on others no matter how you bind them. The Cessna Skyhawk is the most stable in Career mode providing I don't free fly it first then it is unflyable. The AI voices are pathetic and there are no commas or full stops used in sentences. Plus when ATC talk the passengers talk over them. I do like the sim and when I am lucky enough to get all working it is great. Pity bindings keep resetting at odd times. Fingers crossed they get all this sorted.
There are just too many things that just don't work. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a third party or Asobo/Microsoft aircraft, almost every single one of them has something wrong with it if it shows up in your library or Change Aircraft list at all. Right now I'm missing five aircraft that I know of. One of them, the Huey, UH-1H, I was flying just two days ago, has disappeared and because it is streamed there is NOTHING I can do about it. My Learjet 35A, never arrived in the first place. The H125 won't start at all. The P-51 Mustang they give you, only the left flap works. The Blackbird Simulations FG-1D, you open the canopy and suddenly the flight controls don't work. The OV-10 Bronco didn't show up at all. Several aircraft have displays that either don't work or are so dim you can't read them. All of the HUDs are far too dim to use when you have it set with the sun anywhere above the horizon. I frequently see rocks and trees, well modelled, floating twenty feet off the ground. And in places some of the trees look really, really bad. On and on and on and on and on...glitches and malfunctions. I've spent far more time troubleshooting problems with aircraft than I have flying. I've spent more time rebooting and restarting the sim than flying. It's not about the performance or crashes, I've got a damn good computer with a good internet connection and a great graphics card, it's about the glitches and bugs and things that just don't show up that should, or things (mostly aircraft) that work perfectly in MSFS 2020 that don't work or even show up in 2024. That said, when you do manage to find an aircraft that ACTUALLY WORKS CORRECTLY, and manage to get it up into the air, it does perform better. It's smooth. You can, however, if flying low and fast, "outfly" the speed of the details downloading. Honestly, at this point, if I could get a refund from Steam for it, I would take it.
Good for you enjoying it.Having got 2020 running well at 35fps(why anything more?)I'm not bothering to go for 2024.One reason is my internet speed at only 35mps and no sign of anything better. And far too many unfavourable reports.
Does anyone have a listing of all the supposed 'upgraded' airports in the various versions of MSFS2024 ? I have all the available aircraft but not the new handcrafted airports.
Great video. For me though it is a bit of a mixed bag still. When flying in career mode in smaller aircrafts like the Cessna 172 everything mostly works, the scenery including most smaller towns and cities look great. On the other hand when flying to larger airports like Copenhagen, things start to fall apart literally. Airplanes are not visible at the gates from the runways or taxiways but then suddenly an A330 spawns right in front of you, initially with extremely low texture quality and without landing gear. I have tried flying around Paris and most of the buildings looks like are somehow melted and with extremely poor textures. This last problems happens with some (but not all) larger cities- and sometimes I even experience that roughly half of a city Paris looks fantastic while the other part looks awful. I experienced the same problem with broken photo geometry in 2020, so it is not exclusively a 2024 problem. I am very disappointed that freelook with mouse on Xbox is still uncontrollable even after todays upgrade- that makes most complex planes unusable. Have you found a way to get around the mouse problem? Best regards Jan
The graphics are excellent in 2024 but as far as the aircraft go there are too many bugs to make flying enjoyable. I have purchased several study level GA aircraft in 2020 but these are not available in 2024. Most of the GA aircraft have bugs like the inability to set frequencies or ATC talking hectopascals and aircraft in inches with settings unable to correctly set this. I'm not interested in airliners but it seems all the effort has been biased toward getting airliners working OK leaving all aircraft below that level with bugs and features unavailable. I'm sure it will get sorted but a dishonest way of doing business.
I'm watching this, while in flight on Duke over beautiful New-Zealand, making a flight for a VA on Vatsim, and genuinely enjoying 4k landscapes in ...MSFS 2020... And frankly can't see soo much difference, but probably I'll give a try, but only bu 2week/1EUR subsciption and only because I have 2 weeks ahead.. but if it dissapoints me, then I'll give it a year.
I like 2024, for me it is stable and great fun. But i think, they have to do much on the download side. Right now i am waiting for 10 minutes that the flight starts. My previous flight loaded after 12 minutes, but in the cockpit there were no readable instruments. I tested the connection on my side, al is fine, my mmo and other online games, i can play without any problems. So, let us wait until they hopefully fix it, and when my 2024 does not load, i fly 2020 with great fun. Happy christmas to all of you
I dip in it every nowand then but i stick with 2020 and xp12. No headaches and no worries. Everytime i go on 24 my controls settings keep losing until a restart the sim after first go. Photogrammetry looks like rocks etc. FOR NOW ILL STICK TO THE FORMER, THANK YOU
I'm wondering if the main issue is broadband bandwidth. Of course we will all be seeing through the lens of our own set-up so I could be very wrong. I specifically planned and used my retirement funds to buy a high spec PC, because through all the years of using FS, I had never had a PC capable of Real Time frame rates (which I would see as 25Hz+). So now I have a 4090 with i9 13900K 24-Core CPU and 64GB RAM. Also, lots of drive space, so I set the rolling cache (temporarily) to 500GB, in the hope that it might compensate to some degree for my narrow broadband (10 mbps). The result was still unusable. Ridiculous loading times, and incompletely loaded scenery - and - aircraft. So I upgraded my broadband and now get circa 300 mbps. It seems to have fixed the problem completely, though I haven't had the free time to really explore the sim yet, so that may be a premature assessment. I'm also trying to learn Blender with a view to having a bash at aircraft construction (having all but given up hope of seeing certain aircraft built by 3rd parties), but that may well prove to be beyond me. I'm still intending to remove and reinstall the sim as I'm not quite certain I'm getting a full 100% quality rendering on some of the aircraft and scenery. I still see the sim in terms of what it will be once the main bugs have been fixed. I think it will be worth the wait. The sim has a wonderful design spec, and I still think most of the problems arise from its far greater dependency on networking with the cloud. That was a - huge - move, about which I was initially sceptical; but now I understand it was necessary. I saw a video not long after the launch entitled "glimpses of greatness". I hope that more and more of us are getting more than a glimpse now, but I still see/expect greatness.
On Series S although the performance is generally OK visual artifacts completely ruin the immersion for me. Your experience is obviously better than mine but even on your video you can see scintilating white pixels running along the flaps. I get that on the edges of instruments in the cockpit, trees in the landscape, particularly distant bodies of water etc. The result is it makes me perceive it as a graphic (which of course it is) rather thatn being able to 'suspend disbelief' and imagine it as reality, which I was more able to do in 2020. I'd be interested to hear from other people experiencing this scintilllating artifacts effect - it's a bit like looking at the world through frosted glass .
I waited 2 weeks after launch to purchase. Sure, there are some bugs and issues, but it mostly works great for me (PC user). The career mode needs a lot of work. It doesn't break my experience, but it's a nice addition if you're into that kind of thing. I wish they would fix the insurance and passive income piece. Some say it's working for them, but I've tried everything to get the passive income to work to no avail. Anyway, I'm enjoying the sim and appreciate your videos. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
MS/Asobo really should of taken the Grolsch approach. Only released when ready. 2d it sort of works but VR is just a bugged mess. I have a 70mbs connection and it loads in without much hassle but I still get a lot of terrain pop. On the odd occasion it worked in vr, bush flying was great with the extra detail but most of the time a lod issue makes the ground look suitable but when you land at around 10-20ft in front of me all the rocks pop up and I crash. Nice concept but fails too often. Using a 13900 and a 4090 with 64GB so the pc is no slow coach. For now I stick with fs20, also most of my go to aircraft don't work properly in 24 yet. I'm more interested in compatibility than a full upgrade with walk around stuff. I mean you don't pay £130 for a meal and expect a few packets of seeds with the excuse of 'give us some time it will be a great meal' . 😄
I've lost interest in 2024 because of the trash performance on series X. Even x-plane 11 looks better!! So is it time to jump in? Not for another 12 months i reckon 😕.
I should have said in my last comment that I’d given up on 2024 and gone back to 2020 so I’d left it for a few days then I thought I’d try it and that’s where I found that it was working really well
@@HuddisonIt is for you and also for me. Flying a C172, graphics look nice, better than 2020. But have you tried other planes? In free flight maybe? The 737 max is a joke, not even close to PMDG, performance is horrible, couldn't have a smooth landing yet, start with 50 FPS, and EVEY TIME I'm on final landing in any airport, the FPS drops to 20 and it's impossible to land! With a Cessna or X Cub maybe it's nice to enjoy the trees and the rocks, but for the airliners it's a big disappointment.
Very useful discussion. Thank-you. I'm currently on the Xbox S platform, and have moved over to MSFS 2024. Still learning the various key bindings(!), but I see significant avionics and scenery improvements. I do prefer some of the '2020' user interface (UI). I'm cautiously optimistic we will see significant upgrades in the new year, when the marketplace is operational and third party developers can update their products. When I see those upgrades, I plan to upgrade to an Xbox X, or perhaps a mid-range PC. Best regards...
I’m also on Series S 1tb, but I have to admit even with only msfs 2020 and 2024 installed, 1gb download speed internet , it’s still awful unless you fly smaller planes or career mode. I had an update today and it’s killed my avionics screens. They’re super bright or pure white in colour depending on the plane. I’m yet to fly an a320/21/30 a400 b737/47 etc. the sim just isn’t ready for us yet
I would grade the game 4/10 & FS2020 8/10. The current state of the sim can only be on a personal basis, so stating it's stable is only from your perspective so be mindful of what you say in these reviews. Last patch for me the game crashes every other load which it did not before. Career is still botched beyond belief. Take the F18 from your airport of choice fly at 500 knots at low level and within a few minutes you will see how bad the streaming is.
Still glad I got my full refund for standard version that I purchased, in full, on Xbox (X)!! So want to get it by the look of what I have seen but appears to be TH-cam content providers or they just have the time, patience and interest to stick with it. When you pays your dosh and never get it loaded to the menu, it really makes you nervous about trying again, even considering GPU, not a big gamer and the ones I do dabble are bought out right anyway. If this was an indie team, you would think a scam probably and look at the stick No Man’s Sky got, which I bought and love. Maybe Asobo needed some cash input so ‘let’s launch FS2024 instead of updates for FS2020, £69, min, times X million folks …’. I still have huge fault lines in FS2020 on PC in North Yorkshire as I fly north bound out of Leeds Bradford going north-south and east-west!! I may wait for MSFS2028 as I am a “Tourist Simmer”. Yep, still not convinced it is a ‘ready’ product for the standard price and feel sorry for the purchases of the big buck versions. 🤷♂️
I have fast Internet and play on xbox x....Extremely long loading time, rendering totally kills the emersion, stutters bugs etc....2020 on the other hand has never been better, probably due to more people playing 2024. Its going to take a long time for 24 to improve in many ways
Runs OK to quite good on my series X. I have over 800mb download speed (wired) yet, loading the game, then loading a free flight are SO SLOW. If I use any smaller play right up to the Citation longitude the frame rate is...acceptable, however, the days of flying the BIG jets (which are my favourite) is over, for now. Tried flying 737 Max, frame rate was around 10 FPS.
I find that true as well. Unsure why? My A321 is perfect in msfs2020 and almost unplayable msfs2024. Maybe in msfs2020 the entire cabin isn't modeled in 3d? I know many commercial planes in msfs2020 didn't have entire full 3d rendered cabin. Maybe that plays a role here
I'll have the best of a laptop, but I'm not sure about the bandwidth with of a solid 100 mbps? MSI Raider GE68HX 16"120Hz Gaming Laptop-Intel Core i9- 14900HX with 64GB Memory(Ram)- Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090-16GB 2TB SSD M.2 SSD Model# RaiderGE6814285. Nice Viedo Huddison!
@@HuddisonThey should perhaps be a bit more honest and call it positively a common adventure for developers and users .... which is absolutely neccessary to get such a complex system working .
Don't agree with you, Huddison. Last time I tried was two days ago and had 55 minute wait to load it up, stuck at 68% my MSFS 2020 loads quick no more than 10 minutes. I have 1Gb full fibre and a high-end PC with 64Gb memory.
Sorry H but for me no it isn’t. So many things still wrong. Every cockpit looks like something from a cartoon. Graphics are still nowhere near up to standard. So many Streamers defending this abomination hoping no doubt that they get invited on the next launch event. Keep honest please cos you are one of the few who we can still trust. 👍
Early Pin; I just had to ;)
You didn't even mention how you specifically use the sim in this region.
Game pass £1 for 14 days. So no loss really. So far so good. Bugs obviously. Still a work in progress but the potential is huge.
@@sivoltage- I have Game Pass on Xbox, but 2024 is not included at my level, so I'd have to buy the sim or upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate for $20/month just to try it out.
How is your internet speed? Bandwidth? Other users in your home? All that plays a big role in 2024.
Even at $20 it's a great way to try it out. There are a tonne of other amazing games on the service you can play for the remainder of the month if it doesn't work out
This has been the worst experience with a program ever. I still can't bind my peripherals and half of the planes I purchased in MSFS2020 are missing.
That damn mouse issue on Xbox! This should've been addressed with that last patch.
Yeah the Xbox series X version is still one big turd !
All these trusted streamers especially the ones sent out to Grand Canyon have been shamefull since release.
Much work still to do.
"Because the scenery is much better in 2024, You’ll only be disappointed when you eventually go back to 2020."
This is what happened to me.
Very well stated.
I agree, they're trying to tap into the gamer market and it's a disaster for everyone.
Fantastic - thanks for your input :)
My advice is not to bother yet, yhere's too much wrong with it inspite of an update today....................................
What are some of the problems you're experiencing?
@@tubeloobs The AI is horrible the career is broken.
It's a mind-bend eh
@Huddison yeah it's wild that this isn't fundamental to the game. It's so sad. It would have made the game so damn popular.
@@mattygaga2013 Shard cockpit is on the roadmap, but it was never in 2020 either.
I certainly will be doing. It seems for everyone one person who is having a good time on their Xbox with FS2024; another isn't - saddens my heart.
Thanks for your honest feedback; FS2024 will be there waiting for you when ready :)
Enjoy it!
Think I'll wait until the new year.
On Series X, I find that the POI (cities and towns ID) don't populate, yet every ship at sea including the Great Lakes has an ID. Many of the trees resemble large black boxes. Anxious for the marketplace to open.
Some work needed for Xbox Pilots for sure.
Ships ? Not seen any ships on my series X with 1gb download speed, just bugs and crashes, reinstalled many times so far
After that last update (20122024) Some of the functions are starting to work.. Still too many aircraft are buggy, either electronics or avionics . I.E. what’s with the doughnut in the c172 g1000?
Disagree with The Graphical experience in my time playing The Areas I regularly fly in Such as Dublin Looked noticeably better in 2020 on Series X
Also Several Areas have been Downgraded Graphically on Series X since Launch so I've gone back to 2020 I'll return to 2024 in 2026 Hopefully its fixed then
Come back soon Marin; I'm loving FS2024 atm

I'm gutted as I was looking forward to this it runs so bad and I've 145mbps Internet so that's not the issue
It seems like Series X version is pretty much on pair with Series S. At the moment and with around 500 hours of flight time on 2020, i can't recommend to anyone playing the sim on Series X. It's poorly optimized, full of bugs, issues of any kind and graphic wise a downgrade from 2020.
@@martinpatterson9015when was the last time you loaded up 2024?
I’m waiting in the wings, ready to buy as soon as it’s sorted.
You have raised valid point there; it seems damaging somewhat to their product.
Merry Christmas my friend 🎄
On Xbox Series X I now have pretty good graphics, the game is truly beautiful in many areas. I quit and relaunch the game if it was still active after quick resume, and I purge the rolling cache after each patch. It has improved a lot the graphics doing that.
PC user. As we fulltime travel in the RV across the US we use starlink. Have had no issues. Download is about 130. Only issues I’ve had are ATC related and the odd spawning of the plane on a building. But am pretty happy and lucky. Cheers and Merry Christmas to you
Wonderful feedback - Merry Christmas to you my friend 🎄
I will wait with 2024 some time, still problems on Xbox
Let's hope it's flyable for you sooner rather than later.
Unusable on Xbox, not bothered, 2020 still WAY better, so I’m happy with 2020
Career mode Xbox still broken
Very nicely commented.
I love it, smooth and great
Great to hear.
Good feedback.
If Fenix considers it to be Experimental, at this stage, I think it is not ready
Fair play my friend.
Happy

You can keep both sims installed & play them both independently.
You may need to do a bit of setup with your Hotas; check my FS2024 setup video for it.
After the update they had today, my turtle beach yoke does not work, well some buttons such as the brake button I assigned it for. I kinda get tired of it
Have you ensured that your created profile for the yoke is selected in Settings/Controls?
@@Huddisonyes, for example in my free flight, i am able to turn on and off the brake button not in my career. It’s weird.
Do let us know (providing you've been good ;)
It’s been working fine for me on Xbox S (US) …..if you covered this already I missed it but I’ve already followed your binding video for the V1 flightstick and it worked great but my one issue is it’s not saving the 6/7 axis settings for the cockpit?? Is this me or an issue with the sim?
I'm having my typical brain fart - what do you mean by 6/7 axis settings?
@ that annoying cockpit thing where the view drifts it’s an easy fix but it’s not saving for me no matter what I seem to do? I’m using Xbox
They had their reasons for creating the new Sim, but I agree to the extent that they could've incorporated a lot of the FS2024 into FS2020.
@@Huddison We are enjoying it anyway. It will only get better.
I can’t fly on Xbox SX at all because of a stupid mouse problem so I haven’t even flown anything. I don’t think it’s going to get fixed anytime soon because it’s Xbox.
The damn mouse issue has to be addressed on Xbox @Asobo
Two 'F's in off bro.
Game is a complete clusterfk...career is a joke😅
Thanks Hudds. Nollaig Shona Duit as we say in Ireland
Can I ask where you are flying? I'd like to go there myself, it looks gorgeous
In the first part of the video? It's one of the Discovery missions under 'Shades of Seasons'; 'Bled Lake'.

Wonderful - brings music to my soul.
Career mode can teach some good habits - content for a future video perhaps? ;)
I think aircraft handling on taking off etc is greatly improved - feels more gritty and realistic now imo.
BTW: you need very fast internet to get a very good experience on any XBOX!
100%
Must be all my missions lagged
Doesn't improve it much. I'm on 250 fiber and still looks like Minecraft.
It’s still too broken for me to do what I want to do. Wasn’t expecting to pay for a game in 2024 and not be able to play it until sometime in 2025.
Cheeky bar stewards.
Back to 2020 for now.
Fair enough - thanks for the feedback.
Those kind of PC specs are way beyond mine atm.
Keep at it, it will improve over this coming year.
It’s working ha ha .. using Xbox x with 96 mbps internet speed , flying a 330-200 RR engines, starting flight from EDDK ( larger airport usually ctd )
I’m thoroughly enjoying it very smooth, very clear and sharp wow
Huddison if this the case it must depend what region you are !
Even though I re-install various times
My career mode in Xbox platform still broken very much so !
And I'm not the only one!
IT'S ABSOLUTELY NO TIME
for Simers who are serious about this!
For VR pilots, NO it is not time.
I agree.
Use DLSS swapper and Auto FPS, then it runs fine in VR
Yes agreed 👍
I can run fine in VR, but not the career mode. The mouse controls and views are a mess
For anyone, it's not time.
Too me it's buggy; The cj4 has flickering textures, I can't control the cockpit views in the vision jet. I am sticking with 2020 until those are fixed.
Thanks for your feedback.
A shining comment in the sea of moans 😆👍
I haven't been on much since the last update and loading seems to take a bit longer but it's still quick compared to 2020. If i have 30mins spare at the end of the day, I can now do a quick free flight but with 2020, half that time would be loading to the runway.
My internet cost is also increasing in March and I think I can upgrade for that same price, so I may as well, even though it means some engineer hassle on my end and the need to get a ethernet hub.
Hello huddison
Love the channel.
2024 msfs is a NO from me
I'm on series s managed a flight on 2024 but i was underwhelmed the graphics were under par, but I've sorted 2020 by turning off quick resume
mfsf2020 is doing what it should
I'm loving msfs2020 like never before!
Thanks for reporting and the support ;)
@@Huddison no worries love what you do keep up the good work!
PS. Is that a vic 20 or a 64 in your start up?
Still having issues with audio and comms.
I agree that they should've delayed - I'll start a new vote in my discord about this.
Honestly, at this point, if I could get a refund from Steam for it, I would take it.
it was released without any beta period, hopefully by next xmas it may be useable for simmers, gamers are ok now though
Good for you enjoying it.Having got 2020 running well at 35fps(why anything more?)I'm not bothering to go for 2024.One reason is my internet speed at only 35mps and no sign of anything better. And far too many unfavourable reports.
I can understand that.
Does anyone have a listing of all the supposed 'upgraded' airports in the various versions of MSFS2024 ? I have all the available aircraft but not the new handcrafted airports.
Game is still a complete mess. Should be called Microsoft Load Simulator, takes for ever for the game to load. Game crashes every 30 minutes to.
I don't own a console but the AA and Draw Distance looks horrible on the console
I have 2024 but not going to use it and redo all my settings from 2020.
I tried 2024, I'm back to flying 2020! 😱
Some good points there.
I understand: FS2020 has provided me many of my most memorable moments; FS2024 somewhat enhances that.
@@Huddison ... it's especially the fear of being dissapointed from something you really love.. but downloading :) thanks!
HAPPY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Christmas Mike🎄
Now why can't I pin two (or more) comments.. 😉
Merry Christmas Joey.
There’s not a single time my game will not crash on any flights. So no, wait til maybe half a year from now or so to jump in.
😄
It should've been held back to fully ready.
I think you mean "Have you been holding OFF" in the title.
🤔
I've lost interest in 2024 because of the trash performance on series X. Even x-plane 11 looks better!! So is it time to jump in? Not for another 12 months i reckon 😕.
Nope not making the switch any time soon….
Im staying with 2020 because 2024 is a car crash that im not buying in. Stream a game that dont work,no thanks
I should have said in my last comment that I’d given up on 2024 and gone back to 2020 so I’d left it for a few days then I thought I’d try it and that’s where I found that it was working really well
FS2024 is working well for you?
Yes , last night two flights , then this morning another full flight , the a330-200 used to just crash straight away and add that with a large airport
I don't see how you can say it's stable
It is for me - I see it's still not for some others.
Wonderful feedback; thanks.
My S series is working pretty good. Lacking alot of extras on airport locations with planes and no ground crews. No issues with sceenery at all.
Thanks for the feedback.
I find even 2020 can have issues at times , still
I have fast Internet and play on xbox x....Extremely long loading time, rendering totally kills the emersion, stutters bugs etc....2020 on the other hand has never been better, probably due to more people playing 2024.
Maybe that plays a role here
That has to be improved for sure!
@@Mikinct Could be. Hopefully these issues get ironed out

Not in VR I got a refund.
You definitely need a high end system like a 4090 and probably the next generation of cards the 500 series.
