Maybe you could you use obliteration wand to get big shocks from monster HP with shaper of storms to prolif through packs of monsters and then you could recasting conduit?
The shock has to be reapplied. It's why necro would have to recast new corpses to trigger a new conduit cast. so the skitterbots would have to leave their range then come back to the same target to reapply it. Which is bad cuz you can't control them
I think going for classic storm brand setup in body and 6l Lightning Conduit in Annihilating light could be good for both clearing and bossing. LC cast time and Brand trigger rate line up nicely.
I had some ideas and, yep, Storm Brand seemed the most convenient for shocking as an Elementalist. You can also take Runesmith for "Enemies take 5% per brand attached to them" or something like that and Runebinder to bring that up to 10%. I didn't PoB it, but seems decent as you can use Storm Brand - Chain/Elemental Proliferation (not sure which would be better) - Onslaught (- Overshock/Faster Casting) with exposure gloves. Or, well, use the 12 (?) radius from the tree. I had also considered Orb of Storms and Ball Lightning, but imo Storm Brand is too convenient. And, while leveling, Skitterbots - Unbound Ailments should be enough for most intents and purposes until normal lab. BL/Storm Brand/Arc - Elemental Proliferation (- Overshock/Faster Casting) should be enough if Skitterbots isn't.
@@hamzahussain7794 Do not underestimate that you need Overcharge support then. You loose the min 15% damage taken from Shaper of Storms you can scale from with non damaging ailments. You need insane damage on bosses to get your shocks because you have no min shock effect. Even with the gem I am not sure if you can even reach the shock effect you want.
That doesn't seem like it's going to be a good idea. You need to scale shock effect to make the skill it's strongest and for ignite you need to scale damage over time heavily. You will end up being really starved for points. You would have to find a way to both get really high fire DoT value AND shock effect value.
I have been theorycrafting this. Here are my two cents: - The issue I see is that the on cast proc of Orb of Storms may hit before Lightning Conduit removes the shock. In that case, you would have to wait for a new application of the shock. You mentioned Storm Brand or other ways of shocking, which would work, but would add an inherent cooldown to the skill. This would make PoB DPS unreliable. - I would run Frostblink with Elemental Proliferation (more radius than the upcoming mastery) and Increase Area of Effect support. This would be a good source of chills withouit needing to take the ascendancy node and would make mapping much smoother. I imagine blinking into a pack to shock all nearby enemies, and then casting Conduit to kill them. I also plan to run Hydrosphere instead of Orb of Storms and "activate" it with Frostblink. - Pinacle bosses require absurd amounts of lightning damage to get to high percentages. I believe it's better to rely on the base 15% from the ascendency and rely on as much shock effect as possible. - Given that there's going to be a new lightning damage + crit cluster where Arcing blows used to be, I would argue that it's better to go crit instead of Elemental Overload. The mastery that gives 50% increased ailment effect on crit would be great in that case. - The new mastery for maximum shock effect (+15%) is a direct buff. If you wanted very strong shocks, you might want to run that with an Arcanist Brand/Shock Nova setup since Shock Nova is getting +10%. I don't see anyone getting 75% on bosses though. Edit: - Base maximum shock is 50%, not 55%.
Interesting takes. Ive read through them twice. I have several questions and fyi I am in no way aware of complicated stuff in this game. 1.) Why would a second hit of OOS remove the shock? 2.) What do you mean with inherent cooldown for the brand skill? 3.) Blinking into enemies to afflict ailments sounds suicidal? 4.) Against pinacle bosses you have overcharge? 5.) Investing into crit would cut even more defenses, which makes 3.) even worse TBH i am certain, that you have very solid answers and hope you can enlighten me and others.
@@ForeverToTheTop Thanks, hopefully I can be of some help. 1) A second hit of OoS would fail to reapply a shock if it hits before Lightning Conduit. Ideally, you would want OoS to apply the first shock, then cast Lightning Conduit to remove it, and have this cast of LC trigger OoS so that it applies a second shock right after. But if you cast LC, OoS hits and then LC removes the shock, you would have to wait for a timed hit from OoS to be able to cast LC again. Of course, this is assuming that you need to have a valid target in order to cast LC and trigger a beam from OoS. 2) With the assumption that you cannot cast LC without a shocked target within radius, there would be intermittent pauses between the removal of shock and the next hit from Storm Brand where you can't cast LC again. Once again, this is based on my assumption of having a valid target. 3) In juiced maps, it is. For general mapping, you have a slight window after blinking into the pack where most normal and magic monsters are stunned from the initial impact. With high crit builds, you are most likely going to freeze them and spread this freeze. This is not recommended for hardcore, but in SC it's easy to pull off, especially when you have a skill wth a base cast time of 0.5 seconds like LC. 4) To apply a 50% shock on Sirius (non-Uber) without any shock effect or shenanigans, you need a 25 million hit. Provided the "25% less damage" from Overcharge does not affect damage for the sake of ailment calculations, which is a big if, you would need a hit of around 4 million damage. Having 100% shock effect would lower this to 2 million damage. That is a lot to ask from a 4 link Orb of Storms. 5) Yes and no. You can drop cast speed and raw elemental damage nodes and get better damage return from crit ones without touching a single passive devoted to defences. Plus, crit on Frostblink means freezing enemies, like I mentioned before. I hope this sheds some lights into my line of thought. Of course, I might be horribly wrong, but I'll get to know once the skill becomes available. Anyways, I love these kinds of discussions.
@@ForeverToTheTop BTW, regarding point 3, you don't need to blink directly into the pack, you can do so on the edges and still proc the freeze and the shock with proliferation.
@@S3frog Amazing stuff! Knowing you love discussions like this I will continue with my speculations and add fuel to this conversation. Btw I have learned alot and will apply much of what your suggestions. 1.) Why bother about a "waiting time" before you can use LC on shocked enemies, when Stormbrand, with like 100-200% CastSpeed, has an insane activation frequency, such that the player is actually unable to LC inbetween - LC CD. 2.) Would you take further AoE increasement passives to further improve the ailments spread by Frostblink? Smart Frostblinks should be viable in HC too, because Freeze and Chill are pseudo defensive layers in a way. 3.) Do you mind sharing your PoB with your take on all of this? I think many would appreciate it
@Adem Akboga Please do, this is helpful to me as well. 1) You are right about this. Storm Brand is so fast it probably won't matter at all. 2) I think that the 60% AoE bonus when Convergence is not active is enough, but I would have to try it. As far as I know, Elemental Proliferation Support is superior to other forms of proliferation like Berek's Respite or the glove implicit from eldritch crafting because these other forms do not scale out of increased AoE. 3) This is my poor man's plan for week 1 SSF: pastebin.com/iZ24eu3H. The three missing points would go into the new critical + lightning cluster. At some point I would probably get Berek's Respite or a temple amulet to leech life out of lightning damage. I would also try to make a pseudo 5-link setup on the helmet for Galvanic Field using Essences of Horror. It's very nice to be able to discuss PoE with someone as keen and respectful as you. Please, let me know any suggestions or ideas you might have. Have a nice day!
skitter bots don't reapply shock unless you go out of range and go back in range, if you can oneshot everything with lightning conduit then it'd be fine, if you can't then it's meh
Cant you use Skitterbots with Infernal Legion, Unbound Aliments and Overcharge to shock ? The shock effect should be weaker, but you could spam Lightning Conduit
Overcharge supports any skill that "hits" enemies, so Skitters are out. Also, just fidding around in PoB - with a lvl 30 Skitterbots gem linked to 21/20 unbound ailments and 50% increased aura effect we still only reach a 31% shock effect from the skitterbots. Not ideal for single target damage but could of course make for a smoother mapping setup if you chose to build that way. Also keep in mind that Skitterbots as a source of your shock for this build in particular is simply not worth it when paired against a 2 button build where both skills have a .50 cast time; with a reasonable amount of cast speed scaling the cast times become damn near instant and quickly bridges the gap on QoL the skitterbots give.
Am i wrong, does the DAMAGE orb of storms does actually modify the value of the shock, since its being applied via minimum with ascendancy? it will never do enough for orb of storm to reach past the minimum via dmg on hit right?
The shock is being applied from OOS damage, not the elementalist ascendancy, as you can get much higher shock values with OOS damage And yes OOS does more than enough damage with overcharge support. You can max shock pinnacle bosses with it.
This doesn't sound right. If you get 15% shock then modified by shock effect passive or effects, then increasing the shock "as if doing xxx more damage" will not effect it. Only other increases to AILMENT or Shock effect directly will modify it higher, unless it's damage is truly high enough to shock (which it isnt)
@@rossgraham7179 You are right. This version scales the minimum shock basically always. With the right amount of shock effect you'll get a 65% shock on bosses regardless of how much damage your skills are doing.

spell mastery that grants " Spells cause you to gain Mana equal to their Upfront Cost every fifth time you Pay it " this works with the eldritch battery?
Where in the world are you getting 480 es skill cost from? The actual damage skills cost 30-40 mana (es in this case). The only thing that would cost more than that is the Wrath activation, from the Blessing link, which you are obviously not spamming. Also, she has fairly decent es recovery, es leech, and es gained on spell suppression.
I'm quite interessed in it, but i'm a little afraid about the cast speed of Orb of storms. Casting orb of storms at each monster pack appear to me quite slow
Holy fuck this gem is a juicer if you can scale some shock effect :') Though I wonder, this is probably increased "more damage" isn't it? Like every stack adds to the multiplier turning 10 stacks to 100% more, and not a seperate 10% multiplier turning 10 stacks to 159% more?
@@Ajsm351 It's up for interpretation, but the exact wording is "Lightning strikes all shocked enemies around a targeted location, THEN removes shock from those enemies", which hints that shock removal happens after the damage is calculated.

The point of OoS is to automate it. Once the orb is down each time you cast LC it'll do it's damage and have OoS trigger and and shock them again so you can effectively just spam LC for the entire duration of the orb. If you use arc you have to alternate between arc and LC effectively halving your DPS.

With unbound on your OoS you already have 65% which is the cap in your build. No reason to add any other links especially not ones that rely on damage which will get cut down badly against bosses.

Question, wouldnt ball lightning be better for clearing maps and orb of storms for bosses? Ball lightning can hit lots of targets fast, just like orb of storms but, wouldn't it reach further away faster than orb of storms? Orb of storms for bosses since it triggers when you cast a lightning skill, you cast lightning conduit, consumes the lightning but orb of storms will rehit immediately so you can keep on spaming conduit?

Swap out orb of storms with galvanic?
cant you use Skitterbots for shock application? Just permanent uptime that way right?
The shock has to be reapplied. It's why necro would have to recast new corpses to trigger a new conduit cast. so the skitterbots would have to leave their range then come back to the same target to reapply it. Which is bad cuz you can't control them
2 things Lily,
1. how about trickster for that tanky stuff
2. seen the buff? (ofc you did)
look good do you have a sc version?
I'm also thinking LC. Flipping between arc and storm brand to apply my shocks atm.
Same storm brand seems most comfy to use
I think going for classic storm brand setup in body and 6l Lightning Conduit in Annihilating light could be good for both clearing and bossing. LC cast time and Brand trigger rate line up nicely.
I am thinking about going in this direction as well. Storm brand inquistor seems good enough for this
I had some ideas and, yep, Storm Brand seemed the most convenient for shocking as an Elementalist.
I'm thinking of playing this skill but adding ignite to it, like those built arc ignite. I don't know if it will work or not.
That doesn't seem like it's going to be a good idea. You need to scale shock effect to make the skill it's strongest and for ignite you need to scale damage over time heavily. You will end up being really starved for points. You would have to find a way to both get really high fire DoT value AND shock effect value.
The scaling specifies "damage with hits", so probably not.
I have been theorycrafting this. Here are my two cents:
- The issue I see is that the on cast proc of Orb of Storms may hit before Lightning Conduit removes the shock.
Edit:
- Base maximum shock is 50%, not 55%.
5.) Investing into crit would cut even more defenses, which makes 3.) even worse
TBH i am certain, that you have very solid answers and hope you can enlighten me and others.

Cant you use Skitterbots with Infernal Legion, Unbound Aliments and Overcharge to shock ? The shock effect should be weaker, but you could spam Lightning Conduit
you can spam lightning conduit with orb of storms too
Overcharge supports any skill that "hits" enemies, so Skitters are out.
@@fussybirdtv9643 I thought, I can 'hit' enemies with Infernal Legion and shock with the elementalist.

@@lukasausar2916 Unfortunately infernal legion only allows your minions to apply a burn, it does not "hit" either.
Am i wrong, does the DAMAGE orb of storms does actually modify the value of the shock, since its being applied via minimum with ascendancy? it will never do enough for orb of storm to reach past the minimum via dmg on hit right?
The shock is being applied from OOS damage, not the elementalist ascendancy, as you can get much higher shock values with OOS damage
And yes OOS does more than enough damage with overcharge support. You can max shock pinnacle bosses with it.
@@MyNameIsSalo I didn't know this about orb of storms
This doesn't sound right. If you get 15% shock then modified by shock effect passive or effects, then increasing the shock "as if doing xxx more damage" will not effect it. Only other increases to AILMENT or Shock effect directly will modify it higher, unless it's damage is truly high enough to shock (which it isnt)
@@rossgraham7179 You are right. This version scales the minimum shock basically always. With the right amount of shock effect you'll get a 65% shock on bosses regardless of how much damage your skills are doing.
