Man! Wow! Today had to be one of the best days of my life! I went to visit some of the people who use to help my great grandparents with getting water when I was a kid. They had no running water, but the house stayed clean. When my great grandfather got sick and couldn't drive anymore , some of the neighbors would visited regularly, started bringing jugs of water. I know because from a baby to age 13, I spent a lot of time with them in the rural part of GA, which I called the country. I went to see if the neighbors were there and asked if I could help with anything. Well, most of the couples had passed, but one man was there. His wife had passed, but he remembered me. We talked for hours sharing memories of the country and my great grandparents. He is 79 now and in great health. I started talking about how I was happy to drive up those roads now, and how I always wanted to drive my grandaddy's baby blue Ford fairlane when I was a kid. When I was a small kid, about 8, he put me on one knee and let me steer and I thought I was really doing something. After he passed away, I wondered what happened to the car. Today, at age 48, the man I visited asked me if I wanted that car. "Yes! Yes!", and then he said it was in his back yard and had been since 1986. He said he knew they would want me to have it. I believe that too. I still have keys to it. I cried like a baby. I miss them so much and it is going to be great to see this car. It had gotten dark when he told me, but I am going back to look at it this weekend. We are in GA and I may need some help cleaning it up and getting it refurbished. That made my entire life!
@@joedq the 69 trans am (firebird) is a clone. California car so really solid. 350 Pontiac auto. Planning on doing a manual swap to it and just driving it as is
I just started detailing 2 years ago! I would of loved to take a crack at that Fairlane. Then bought it from you. I love old Fords! This Ford is one of my favorites. Compact but powerful.
@classicmustangs429 I can't tell you how much it means to see the younger generation show so much interest in classic car revival and restoration......especially fords....😊. As you can see by my profile picture I am a bit of a "blue oval guy". That 51 was our most recent project. I tried giving the 51 mercury lead sled treatment to a 51 shoebox. After 5 years and more money than I care to recall....lol we finished it. There is no substitution for the sense of joy someone gets from getting to roll down the road in a classic ford especially when you know you did the work yourself and put in the time and effort. Seeing your video series on this car has motivated me to want to start work on our 64 Galaxie 500 we have had sitting in the back of the shop for far too long! I hope to get the chance to meet you on the next power tour with junkyard, thunderhead, and vice grip. We missed you last year....😧. I wish you the best my friend and keep up the great videos!

I am almost 16 and I have three old Ford's that I work on. 63.5 Galaxie 500 XL 77 4X4 F-150 And a 57 Custom 300 It just feels great to see and work on old cars.
I love your 64', I know it will be awesome when she's finished. I had a 68' fairlane 2 door coupe w/ a 289 four barrel, C4, and 9'' rear. I had a lot of fun with that car, if I still had it I would have done a power disc brake setup.
My first car was one of these 64 Fairlane 500 2 door. I would love to find one in as good of shape as this one. These are getting more scarce by the day

Floors got wet at some point... started eating from the inside out due to the carpet holding the moisture. Underneath is clean though... might bed liner the spots that really don't need replacing on the inside. Two layers should do the trick👌
SWEET.. Ever think of getting a 2 door 66 Galaxie and fitting it up with a 427 side oiler? :-)) Love the stacked headlight look of those Fairlanes and Galaxy's. Very tough looking cars [have to update or fab up some control arms... some coil overs... update the axles and suspension in the rear as well]. Gotta love welding [I know I do] :-) As a fellow Canuck you do us proud young man! Keep up the great work!
Yeah, I've been looking at their site. There are a few companies that list floor pans for the "64 fairlane" yet look nothing like the 64 pans in my car (Probably just a generic patch).
I can't believe what a pretty blue that car is you should definitely take the car in worse condition to start with restoring that way the next will be easier haha
I know I mentioned taking the Comet on the last video, but either one would be awesome. I guess which ever is easiest to be ready by Power Tour. It's coming up fast. I live in Indianapolis. So, maybe I can get to see you guys here.
That thing is in very good shape for its age if that's all the rust it has then that wont be a bad project but yeah patch it up and take it to power tour. I'm going to try to go next year I just bought a 79 pinto and going to put a 347 stroker in it and going to try and get the factory air going in it just incase it gets hot and I hope that I can find u up there when I go

Just amazing to see the insane risk people take especially in these times getting into a filthy vehicle no gloves or respiratory protection ( till afterwards) and put the whole thing on video for the world to see.
Makes about as much sense as people wearing a big sweater then shorts and flip flops in the dead of winter. Lol in all fairness tho sometimes gloves get in the way of things but they do have their uses
Yeah, gloves probably would've been a good idea. But hands got a good cleaning/scrubbing afterwards. Not a big fan of glove as Acefearkiller mentioned they are sometimes annoying for feel/handling things. Located in Toronto ON.

seats are worth their weight in gold. window regulator nylon bushings are shot. undercoating gets a bad rap these days but years ago they did'nt pour it on like now in fact used to just sand the icy roads
I noticed in one of the previous videos that the Fairlane is a K-code! That Holley is probably original, even if it is shot now. That'd be my Power Tour pick just for that.

I did the exact same thing with my '65 Studebaker.With the headliner however,I would have kept the bows in,so as not to get them confused.Or at least mark them with masking tape A,B,etc. Your floors aren't too bad looking IMO. Get this one running nice and save the 'pretty' stuff for later!

that fairlane is pretty dam good..it really doent have alot of rot....does it have a motor?...i see it has a tbird steering wheel....this car has a boat load of potential ...i really like the color of the comet too...[ aqua marine ] ..cool cars man ..if it was me,..i would sell the trans am there to fund some of those fords..

I had an Electrolux vacuum cleaner when I moved in here over twenty years ago, it worked, and the power switch went so I brought a switch and wired it up.. in the end something fell on it, and cracked the plastic handle but it still worked even covered with tape.

I've had two of these 64 fairlanes, one a "sportscoupe" nice car, the other one was a 2dr bucket seat, console car, both sweet drivers!!!
