      Well done, Kevin More than “ok” - they are sensational : ) Very similar to my own style, in fact - right down to the oval moulds, which I’ve been using for many years - albeit they weren’t available as soap moulds then
      NB: ‘mould’ is the correct spelling,in case you are wondering, albeit I know American ‘English’ is different ;);) Mold, to us, is the growing stuff - either good or bad depending : ))
      I love the many facets of Kevin Devine.

    Thanks for another fun video Kevin. I too, just discovered some Aloe powder I had purchased several months ago and forgot about!
    I would love to hear about the soap after it cures...maybe a note at the bottom of your info above? Can you feel a difference using the soap with Aloe powder in it? How did the Dead Sea Salts do - any changes to them? (I have used DS salt at 5% in my PH salt bars and they left white spots throughout the soap, as they just don't saponify....I know that is not on issue on top, but you mentioned them collecting moisture, so I wonder if they were weepy....)
    Thank you again for the wonderful video!
    Sly

    • @ozymndius
      @ozymndius  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That initial mositure seems to be it as far as the salt goes, they are curing in my kitchen and I've seen no additional moisture. Because I'm impatient I do have one in the shower...I used it this morning in fact. I feels slightly more silkier than my other soaps...although I will say that could be completely my own perception and I am biased since I know the aloe powder is in there. :) But those dead sea salts sure do look pretty on top of the soap :)

    • @soapsblyslyo1379
      @soapsblyslyo1379 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm sure they are gorgeous! I dusted some PH salt with snowflake sparkle mica last summer and they were quite lovely - the pink really shined through too.
      Thanks for the update!

    @lynnkeiter1855 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok thanks for your patience ....watched again and saw that ! Just finished but wasn’t able to keep the colors from running into each other haha...still pretty after the swirl . One other question about the TD w/ water ...how much water to TD and does it need to be fresh every time you go to use it? Or can you leave it sit for some days and still use it?Ive tried that and it’s hard on the bottom and speckles...🙁

    • @ozymndius
      @ozymndius  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lynn Keiter I leave my TD pre mixed and have never really had an issue, I can’t give you exact amounts...I usually fill the bottle 3/4 with powder then add enough weather so it’s thin but not too thin. I added a couple of quarters to my bottle so they help break up the TD when it clumps.

  • @nowexit
    @nowexit 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The 200:1 aloe powder negates the need for aloe gel/liquid. I use the powder, your liquid weight divided by 199 gives you your aloe powder weight. Personally I find aloe powder better than gel/liquid, there's a much more noticeable silky feeling after bathing or showering and when added to lotions and moisturisers it helps inhibit greasiness providing a more powdery finish instead.

    • @ozymndius
      @ozymndius  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't use aloe vera gel, it's aloe vera liquid from Bramble Berry...which probably was overkill with the powder, but my "norm" is to add the aloe vera liquid and sodium lactate...but I definitely could have omitted the liquid. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Kevin how much water to TD do you use in a squirt bottle?

    • @ozymndius
      @ozymndius  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't give you an exact answer. I normally fill the bottle up about 3/4 with powder (not tightly packed) and then fill it up with water.

    For people not familiar with soap making, please watch a different video to learn the basics. The soap doesn't need to sit to thicken, he should have just stick blended longer to get a former trace. Also don't put you fragrance in before you lye solution. This can cause all kinds of issues especially when soaping with liquids above room temp as if it's too hot you run the risk of burning the fragrance off. It's best to add most additives like these after the lye and oils have been emulsified (usually at a light trace) then once added bring the soap batter to the level of trace you want for pouring

    • @ozymndius
      @ozymndius  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For people not familiar with soap making I have lots and lots of videos for you to watch and learn from...or ask one of my 22,000+ subscribers how much they have learned from my videos...then go see how many soap videos Brooke Flinn has made and see who you'd rather listen to. I let the soap sit to thicken because I was cleaning up, I certainly could have continued to stick blend it but there was no need to stand there for minutes with my stick blender running when I could just let the soap sit while I did other things. Your comment about fragrance "burning" if added to oils before the lye is totally wrong. The lye is present in the soap mixture while the soaponification process progresses which takes 24-48 hours to complete, so your understanding of the actual chemistry is incorrect. I have made thousands of bars of soap over many years, I am 100% confident that this video represents an excellent quality soap making process.
