😊I would love a time machine too,I lived on Pontefract road in the 50s/60s my playground was the marketplace walking down the gas nook to get there. Then worked at Leslie Frances. What memories.

I'd give my right arm to go back and take some photos (or videos) - Leslie Frances was my sisters favourite place to have her hair done..

Another nice selection Stuart. These videos may be only 6 minutes long but I pause so much it generally takes me half-an-hour to watch them. I think the photograph of the Town Hall and Technical College must be later than the 30s judging by the dirt on the Portland Stone of the Town Hall. Do you know when it was first cleaned up?. As for the football match, judging by the size of the crowd, I think it is more likely to be the FA Cup match against Preston played on 25 January 1947 before a crowd of 39,800. Unfortunately, Barnsley lost 6-0 against a team probably featuring the great Tom Finney. If I may make a suggestion for future videos I think it might be better when showing views of the same site as here with the Penistone Viaduct and Market Street to display them back to back in date order so that one may see the changing times more easily. Just a thought.

It could be my colouring John that make the stone look a bit worn - oops

@@oldbarnsleyincolour OK Stuart, no worries. Your work is always much appreciated by me and, being a Roystoner l particularly liked the views of the village on your latest post.
