Just great. Thanks Stuart. The snaps of Summer Lane and Town End must mean you're getting closer to my old stamping ground of Rock Street, Kier Street School and Sackville Street. Keep 'um comin lad!.
Thank you so much for all these great images of Barnsley from years gone by. Quite surprising how many amazing buildings we have lost over years. Personal highlights from what you shown to date has been from the railways especially oaks viaduct which is/was just across the road from me, Monk Bretton station was interesting as never seen that before and Royston station and sheds from where my grandad was based when he worked on the railway. Also been really good showing my mum these from Royston Monk Bretton and the town itself as memory is not very good these days so they have been good for her picking certain things out. Thank you and look forward to more.
Like your photo of the Corner Pin pub and Chennells to the right of the photo . Used to be my old drinking hole in the 60's . The view of ST georges church and Holyrood took me back a few years , i see that my old school ,Barnsley Central School ( mark street ) is now a parking lot . Now living in qld , Aus . Well done with the photos .
