Funmi when you’re in shock you will act bizarrely. Some 30yrs ago, I was a university student in Nigeria and the bus conveying us from Lagos to Ife was shot at by armed robbers and attacked. I was acting most bizarrely, even confronting two of the robbers. I wasn’t even aware I was injured in the leg by a stray bullet. Though my leg was bleeding , I felt no pain until much much later. Shock causes adrenaline to course through your system and you’re fearless. It was afterwards, the fear came, the pain came and the wonder at how I confronted two armed men.
Sorry to hear about this happening to you 😢. I agree shock will have you acting strangely. It's the human fight, flight, freeze response. During an earthquake one friend of mine was unable to run out of the building. She insisted on wanting to hide under a table. She could not see this table (it was right there in front of her. It was a one room student housing residency!! ) She had to be physically dragged out. To this day she does not remember any of it happening.
The secret service has a lot to answer if you dig into this. The director Cheetle said having a sloppy roof makes it difficult to station a secret service agent...yet the snipers opposite the guy that shit were on a more sloppy roof with three times the gradient. There is a lot to answer...too many questions .....

I am a Registered Nurse and you would not believe what people say or do after experiencing trauma. God designed us to protect ourselves this way. The odd behavior temporarily removes your mind from what is happening, allowing you to cope. Under the circumstance, asking for his shoe was actually normal and expected.

Fumi…. I watched the news special alert about it. I am an online English tutor and a few of my adult students have asked about it. Some of their news outlets are saying it was an assassination attempt. Have my own opinion about Trump, but his reaction and the way the secret service move seemed a bit off, almost as if it was staged. During the alert, the reporter interviewed a man and his mother about what they experienced and repeatedly said people were reporting the shooter before hand. Both have said the police did nothing. If it wasn’t a staged incident to gain sympathy, then I don’t know what else to say. There are so many people who are thinking about or have created a contingency plan to leave if he returns to office.
