    At the moment, my go to’s are:
    - onion powder in my pree poos mixed down with babassu oil
    - avocado seed tea with aloe Vera
    - henna in deep conditioners, usually 1-2 tablespoons
    - after suffering from hygral fatigue because of over using them, I’ve recently started using sea moss and slippery elm gel again, tentatively. Might use them as leave ins after some time. The last time the sea moss gave me crazy growth, but I lost most of it because of the over hydration damage (which I’d never experienced before)
    Love this video. Very informative and I look forward to purchasing your recipe book 💜⚡️

    Sis! I need this. My scalp hasn't been happy with me for awhile. I don't think it likes oil.

    • @EfikZara
      @EfikZara  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Some people have that issue! This is why I made this video. I LOVE oil but my scalp doesn’t produce a lot of sebum on its own, and it’s more prone to dryness so oil helps me a ton.
      Some people are sensitive to oils because they produce a lot of sebum, or their scalps can’t tolerate products at all (dermatitis +). Try omitting oils but also try to incorporate serums that will help balance your scalp environment, and maybe try a mild chemical exfoliant. You can even nix the serums and just exfoliate. Some people can’t use them them either.

    I tend to cut my hair once every two years when it grows past my shoulders but now I'm serious about growing my hair. I use a sweet smelling moisturiser I miraculously found and after I apply it, it melts so nice in my hair overnight and lasts days on my hair. I always keep my hair twists but I really want to practice other protective styles so I don't suffer breakage again. Would you be willing to show a tutorial on your protective hair styles or is that too much? If so, no worries 😊 I already love your stuff by the end of the day.

I haven’t noticed whether it works for me it or not still because my hair still gets itchy so idk what to do.. & I’ve tried hair serums with grease and still.. itchy! & then one was frustrated with washing my hair cus he said I had alot of oil in it and said he used a clarifying shampoo twice lol With all the oil and grease you put in your hair how do you ensure all of it gets out on wash day? What shampoo and conditioner do you use ?

    How do you prevent your hair from smelling when using onion juice on your scalp? I tried it once and my hair grew like crazy like legit 1" in 1 month but my hair literally smelled like onions for MONTHS. I loved the benefits but now I have PTSD.
    Also at this point ima need you to start your own hair line. Your sulfur 8 recipe is the only thing that helps my dandruff.

    • @os4305
      @os4305 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I’ve used onion juice on my scalp. First, I use it once or twice a month because I am protein sensitive - I’m also low porosity. You should use the onion juice rinse BEFORE you wash your hair and scalp. Additionally, you should add essential oils to it such as peppermint and tea tree oil to mask some of the smell.

    • @jk9084
      @jk9084 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@os4305 Yes I use it in my prepoo concoction too with (essential) oils ginger and garlic. Then idd a shampoo, conditioner and leave in that smell nice.

    • @os4305
      @os4305 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jk9084 🥰love that you added ginger, absolutely great! The freshly squeezed aloe Vera juice, tea tree oil, and Luke warm water help to keep my scalp and protective style moisturized. But that onion juice rinse has thickened up my new growth. The onion smell doesn’t turn me off from using it because I know the benefits.

    • @jk9084
      @jk9084 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@os4305 Yes it also has a more pleasant smell haha! For moisturizing my protective style I use a herbal ayurvedic tea with aloe juice and my shea butter mix or DIY oil to seal.

    • @os4305
      @os4305 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jk9084 I’m making her growth oil today! I’m going to infuse it for six to eight weeks. I’m going to use it on my scalp only. Until then, I’m going to be using a growth serum by the brand KCurlsys. It’s a brand by another long natural haired TH-camr: Augenia Kelcy. The growth serum is in place of the growth oil just until I get the infusion done! I can use both interchangeably but only use those on my scalp only.
      I use the spritz, the growth serum or the growth oil on my scalp only, seal off the scalp with the SS8 Concoction that Efik Zara created (I’m making it tomorrow, I’m using regular Vaseline at the moment). I seal off the ends of my hair in my protective style with regular grease (Vaseline) as I save the potent stuff for my scalp. Then I seal off the shaft of my hair and edges with JBC Oil.

    Last time i went to indian store ask for Henna powder and told its changing hair color... is it true?
    Coz i don't wanna change my hair color and i want the henna so bad

    • @Legacy_125
      @Legacy_125 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Henna is a plant and will deposit a tint of color onto the hair strands. Henna comes in several colors and is sometimes used for grey hair coverage. If you have brown hair then you will use brown henna etc

    • @sds1011974
      @sds1011974 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will color your hair. But you can use cassia as it gives the strengthening properties of henna without coloring your hair. I like what henna does to my hair because I have gray hairs. It turns those a bright golden red and orange. I like the “sparks” of color. My hair that isn’t gray has a reddish brown color now.

    • @EfikZara
      @EfikZara  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s no such thing as “brown henna” and it only comes in shades of red-red orange.

    • @EfikZara
      @EfikZara  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It will tint dark hair, and color light hair. If your hair is black (1-1b), it will likely appear darker, but in the sun have a burgundy to auburn sheen (depending on the type of henna you use). Henna only comes in shades of “red” to red-orange. Henna from different regions, and henna harvested at certain times, exhibit varying hues.
      If you want to alter or mask this color, you can put indigo over top (this will result in black hair), or you can mix indigo with henna after the lawsone has released. This will give you off-black, and dark-brown (color 1b) up to chestnut (depending on the concentration).
      But again, henna tones are not as prominent on very dark hair.

    I'm so confused 🤔 I thought hair grease aided in growing our hair

      It does! I’m making this vid for people who don’t want to, our can’t use those kinds of products.

      Wow; any dermatologist will tell you that grease is noncomedogenic and does not clog pores (because the primary components, petrolatum and mineral oil are not pore clogging) and it does create an occlusive barrier when used over-top of an effective moisturizer. In 2022, if you’re educated, you should be aware that grease/oil don’t moisturize, they merely help to keep moisture in LONGER. Yes water evaporates but not quickly if OCCLUDED.
      It’s so unfortunate that you all listen to uneducated hairstylists when the science says otherwise. Genetics plays a role, but not the role that people always try to force it into because there are many whose hair refused to grow prior to introducing external aids, (I.e. potent oil infusions, scalp massages, moisture retention WITH grease and oils, etc).
      Let people use these products to help themselves, in peace, while you use mousse, in peace.
      Hair (and skin) is largely comprised of lipids so to insist that oils are harmful (when oils are actually present in the moisturizers and other products people that don’t use them raw, peddle) is really toxic.
      Please seek to educate yourselves on how to properly use oils, and how oils and petrolatum can actually help those more prone to dryness (from the perspective of DOCTORS… not estheticians and hairstylists who have no medical background). There are many who testify of its goodness; they can’t all be wrong.
      You all are really trying to force this community to be a monolith and it’s sad. I won’t tolerate this harmful and dramatically misinformed rhetoric on my channel. Please read about petrolatum and proper use of oils, as well as penetrative vs coating oils, and the comedogenic scale.

      @@BZ1610 You have no idea what you're talking about. Genetics have to do with texture, curl pattern, baldness, straight, kinky, etc. My friend never had hair past her ears. After youtube and taking care of it. Her hair is almost to her waist.

      It definitely has aided in my hair retention. I do grease my scalp, but mainly use it to moisturize my ends, it defines my curls great too
