This video shows me having a second go at fitting towbar electrics to my 2012 Citroen C3 Picasso. My first attempt was to just tap into the car loom and go straight out to the towbar socket. This, my second attempt was using a bypass relay and it worked perfectly.
In the video i give all the colour codes and cable locations required to complete the job.
You can watch my previous video to see me fail.
Enjoy.
According to the handbook fuses FH36, FH37 and FH40 in the dashboard fusebox are intended for trailer relay unit / trailer accessories socket supply. However the exact location of those fuses is not shown. I used to have a Peugeot 306 which had a fuse for a "towing accessory" which emerged as a blanked off (heavy gauge) wire in the boot compartment. Was wondering if there was something similar on these to save running the wire in like you did on this vid?
@@jimjam8179 Thanks for the comment!
That’s good to know and will potentially help out others looking into taking on this job 😎
I’ll pin this comment so others maybe helped by it 👍
Sandy.
I had a closer look today, and for the life of me couldn't find fuses FH36, FH37 or FH40 on or around the dashboard fusebox. I went to a Citroen main dealer service centre to ask them - and they didn't have a clue about it. When I mentioned the blanked off wire in my old Peugeot they said that Citroens were never fitted with anything like that. I've not found anything like that in the wiring at the rear on the left hand side. Will have a look when I take the right hand panel off tomorrow. Looks like I'm doing a similar install to on this vid after all!
@@jimjam8179 Keep us posted 👍
Having removed the RH boot side panel today there were definitely no heavy gauge wires there to feed a trailer accessory. Goodness only knows what the manual was on about concerning these seemingly phantom "FH" fuses. Ended up running a feed from the dash fusebox down the left side of the vehicle like in this video. On the 2009 model that I'm working on the feed for the RH tail light seems to run up the right hand side of the vehicle (unlike on this video where both tail light wires can be intercepted on the left hand side). As tempting as it was to control both channels on the relay bypass box using the left hand tail light wire, I did the correct thing and ran a wire round from the right hand side (next to a wire for the RH indicator) as otherwise there would be a single point of failure - which is no good on safety grounds. Ran out of daylight before I could test it all. First job for tomorrow morning...
@@jimjam8179 Nice to see you’ve progressed with the install and got to the bottom of the supply cable 👏
I hope this vid helped out with the job 👍
Sandy.
Thanks for that - I'm thinking of fitting a towbar to my C3 Picasso and it's really helpful to watch you going through it.
Not a problem 👍
I have another video showing the towbar installation as well 😉
Have a go, it’s an ok job that can be done at home 👍
Here’s the towbar i fitted… www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280745827605?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=8tXJPXQ-SEa&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=LRS3OLTrS6i&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
There are flange type and swan neck types you can buy.
Well done.. Great Vid!🔧

Hello. I have a C3 Picasso from 2016 which has driven 130.00. Now it says that it must have been serviced and I intend to do it myself. Do you know what it must have done for this service. Regards, Martin
@@martinjensen257 Hello.
Yes, it will need the engine oil and filter, the fuel filter, air filter and pollen filter - and just a general look around the rest of the car.
If you click on my channel there is a (Citroen C3 Picasso How To Videos) playlist.
All the vids you need are in that playlist 👍
Regards Sandy.

Just thought with that mileage, maybe the gearbox oil aswell. (That’s in my C3 playlist)
I have a 12v socket in the boot of my 3008 could i take the power supply off that?
@@Baphomet_biker Nice and convenient 😎 Can’t see why not 🤷♂️
Hi, do you hear your relay when using the left or right indicators? Thank you.
@@diogovivas97 Hello, mine doesn’t make a noise when the trailer is unplugged. There’s only a bleeping when there’s something plugged in.
Hope this helps 👍
