Awesome tutorial, only minor thing i would have done differently is putting a sleeve of heatshrink below the zip ties so it doesn't damage the wiring with time
Cheers mate, thanks for your time and effort in the making of this highly informative and quality video! Great work! I myself will be using the information within this video to more confidently rewire a vintage motorcycle, Cheers! Well done!
Not bad. I assemble and train people to assemble custom cable and wire harness assemblies for a living. As far as reworking an old assembly my only thought would be to check for stiffness in the wires to assure none were degraded and also I’d extract all terminals and re strip/ re crimp them.
Good tutorial. On mine i went with the plastic loom stuff anywhere that will get splashed with mud water oil or dirt and the wire lume up high and in the engine bay. I found the old school plastic loom still deals with mud better, it splashes off while the wire mesh seams to oil dirt.
Excellent info, as usual ! Thank you for a great video ! I will attempt to rewire my BJ73 soon, and this has been most helpful. Greetings from Romania.
Great vid dude, youve given me some confidence to go rip out my hj75 ute harness and give it a tidy up, someone had butchered mine a fair bit in its previous life
This was great ive gone all the wiring in my ute and have made sure its all neat and tidy. But still learned some neat tips from you. Cheers mate. Love the channel
hey man, I love your videos they have really got me thinking of doing my own build on my 75 series ute, I was wondering where you got those electric window winders, I am having a bit of trouble finding them, cheers in advance.
Hey mate awesome video, I will never re-store a wiring harness but loved the video. To see it start from something pretty crusty to the final result was kind of cathartic.
So, question I have like a small insertion where I can visibly see inside of the wire from my vehicle distributor connector. Would that stop current from flowing to the distributor, from just that little slit?
I personally haven't found TESA tape to be THAT good, I've had a couple situations where it started to come undone vs my electrical tape that stayed on for years. Although I'll admit it was where I used a small strip, where I used long strips that I wound over a long stretch of wire it seemed to hold every time. Little strips with just a small section won't always hold
I saw that you used black for Reverse for your trailer harness, as per AS-2513. Good lad. Pin-2 is not for “auxiliary power” in Australia. You didn’t run a cable for your electric brakes though. You know what you are doing so when it comes to installing an electric brake controller, I assume you will fix it then. Maybe RedArc can donate a TowPro Elite for the Troopy project and you can revisit this video.
Hey mate, would the steering wheel you've put on your cruiser would it fit my 2002 model hilux? or would you know of one that would fit the hilux spline?
On my Intrepid....starting/stalling problem....a local dealer said fix is a engine wiring harness....I cannot find one....can mine be repaired/restored?....
Hi, i have just bought an Aixam Mega Van and the wiring loom to the rear of the can has been cut at the plug connector. I need to find out the wires for the indicators, lights etc: can anyone advise
I’d like to know why manufacturers left a little exposed wires near the connections plug or to the connections. Is it safe to tape this so that those wires will not greatly exposed to heat of the engine and also to prevent deterioration?
Hey mate, most of the time its because the wiring is redundant and was meant to be used for another model (Deluxe model etc) This is most cases i've seen. In these cases i just cut the wire and heat shrink it shut, you can also use tape just not as secure. Hope this helps
Great video! It's pretty difficult to find good 4x4 related electronics tips/guides online. Is there any specific reason why you choose cloth tape over normal insolation tape? Also, in what circumstances would you recommend using the interlocking braid protection? Is that mostly for sections of the loom that would be exposed to the elements? Thanks for the epic content, subscribed!
at the beginning when you solder that wire why didn't you get rid of the entire wire and just pinned the ends of a new tire and introduced that to the connector?
I’m restoring an old car that a mouse got to the wires. And I was just curious if I need to get a special wire type Since the wires are in the engine bay
Thats interior cloth tape, it will soak up mud and oil and go to shit. Theres engine bay cloth tape to use for that, it dosnt look as fury and is oil resistant. Also that braid hold mud and oil and also goes filthy in a 4wd engine bay or underside.
solder?!? noooo. i will not even use the connectors with the low temp solder. soldering makes a great connection, however, it does not allow the wires to flex with the constant vibration a vehicle puts out. a correctly crimped connector will make just as good of a connection as a soldered joint. using good quality heat shrink will provide the needed stress relief. doubt me? where are the soldered connections in a factory wiring harness? if soldering was superior, then every connector would be done with solder. leave the soldering to the computer geeks
Fucking yikes, carole baskin sounding ass ahaha. Nah but legit for your first build series this shit is put together really well and looks high quality. Really looking forward to the coil conversion!
Why would you care to replace the crimps by a solder? Remove the god damn wire altogether and replace it with a new one. If the wiring is old and dried out, there's no point salvaging it with a cheap reparation, replace the wire and it's good to go for another thirty years. Rewiring is tedious as hell, and if you found the courage to rewire the whole thing just don't go cheap on it because it's not something you can easily have access to, so do it right while you're at it. I think the proper way to do it, but also quite possibly the most tedious one, is to unwrap the old wiring harness, buy new connectors, slightly larger gauges wires, and use the old harness as a live diagram to do a fresh one out of nothing. In short, creating a wiring harness from scratch using thicker gauges wires so you have a fresh and more secure harness.
Please notice that puting two wires into one cavity is not proper to this deutsch connector. This is not designed for that. Also You did not use the blind plugs which protects free cavities. Please research the Tyco website.

Experience at its best he has his own wiring repair area that'll save him tons of money down the road great job.
Awesome tutorial, only minor thing i would have done differently is putting a sleeve of heatshrink below the zip ties so it doesn't damage the wiring with time
Unreal legend. Thank you for taking the time to show us your work. Very impressive, keep em coming 👌
Cheers mate, thanks for your time and effort in the making of this highly informative and quality video! Great work! I myself will be using the information within this video to more confidently rewire a vintage motorcycle, Cheers! Well done!
Great looking Cruiser mate. About to tackle a full harness restoration on my project FJ45. Gotta love 40+ year old wiring.
Not bad. I assemble and train people to assemble custom cable and wire harness assemblies for a living. As far as reworking an old assembly my only thought would be to check for stiffness in the wires to assure none were degraded and also I’d extract all terminals and re strip/ re crimp them.
Excellent tutorial. Easy to follow, and the results are gorgeous. Thank you!
Sir, you're an artist. Inspired me. I'm going to restore my harness instead of spending $4500 on harnesses 😊
Great video. Nice to see a BJ70. Your video will help me to renew my Brazilian BJ40
Good tutorial. On mine i went with the plastic loom stuff anywhere that will get splashed with mud water oil or dirt and the wire lume up high and in the engine bay. I found the old school plastic loom still deals with mud better, it splashes off while the wire mesh seams to oil dirt.

Greetings from Romania.
my kind of wiring job. I'll follow your example, very nice vid
That expandable sheathing is the business, makes the finished product looking very professional.
You did such a good job, I wish you lived closer, I get yo to do mine ☺️
Great vid dude, youve given me some confidence to go rip out my hj75 ute harness and give it a tidy up, someone had butchered mine a fair bit in its previous life
Great video, real attention to detail.
🔥💯 Neat as! keen to see the next Episode 🙏🏾
Awesome video mate wat type of parts cleaner did you use? On electric connectors
Thomas Sullivan just parts cleaner mate, anything that evaporates quickly will be the job 👍
The force is strong with this one.
Hi Can you advice on where to get the wiring diagram or the link for the Hj75 1987?
Thanks
Awesome vid thanks 🙏 one of the previous owners butchered the taillight wiring harness on my 87 Supra and I want to tidy up the catastrophe.
Hey mate, great video. Really helpful as I'm about to tackle 56 year old looms
This was great ive gone all the wiring in my ute and have made sure its all neat and tidy. But still learned some neat tips from you. Cheers mate.
Love the channel
Great video!! I’m wondering where can I get the wiring diagram for do my kzj77 wiring?
Great video, really clear and easy to follow mate! Thank you 👍👍👍
Thanks mate! Glad you got something out of it 🤙
i'm glad you've got a soldering iron and not one of those funky soddering irons
Hi, thank you for this video. I want to ask you about the braided sleeve that you used, where can I find it on amazon do you have a link? thank you.
Absolute banga that video mate, appreciate it.
Top notch vid mate
Very professional, well done ✅
hey man, I love your videos they have really got me thinking of doing my
own build on my 75 series ute, I was wondering where you got those

cheers in advance.
hi, good video, what kind of tape you use for the wires at the end? brand?
Hey mate awesome video, I will never re-store a wiring harness but loved the video. To see it start from something pretty crusty to the final result was kind of cathartic.

And, how do mechanics just pull that harness out like that🤔
Great video. Gonna be doing this on my DR-Z400S

About to do the same job, thanks for the tips m8!
learned a lot. thanks for sharing.

Wade Thomas pretty sure all Toyota splines are the same
Hello 🌞Advice, You need to put dw40 in all the car's electrical harnesses to avoid problems in the future 👌🏻 once a year for ever pro

Great Video! Seems daunting to me still but I'm not very familiar with 12V yet
He mate if you mind me asking what’s your background with cars. You seem to be pretty knowledgeable.
On my Intrepid....starting/stalling problem....a local dealer said fix is a engine wiring harness....I cannot find one....can mine be repaired/restored?....
What size you use braided sleeve?
Cool channel brother! Any chance on getting those diagrams? Doing the same build 🤙🏽

Super pro job
Just a heads up your deutsch plugs are not water proof if you don’t put the white plank pins in the unused holes.
That's true, blind seals are needed.
Bloody nice 👍

I would be curious about the cloth tape too
Is it the same as hockey tape?
normal inso tape holds moisture and isnt as sticky. whereas tesa tape is sticky and can be wet but then dry out
@@tomsbahr Thanks for the response! Makes sense.
at the beginning when you solder that wire why didn't you get rid of the entire wire and just pinned the ends of a new tire and introduced that to the connector?
Hey all you cool cats.. ahahahaha golden
can you please share the schematics of the harness
good job .. thanks
Please how can I set Nissan armeda mouth turtle wire
Neat! Keep em coming
Good job......
I’m restoring an old car that a mouse got to the wires. And I was just curious if I need to get a special wire type Since the wires are in the engine bay
Just match the wires to the original mate
Very useful
Well done mate you must be an auto electrician ?
if you're not you should be
When are more episodes coming out bro are you still alive
God bless!
I need to locate a wire that is causing my 98 Suburban to cut out an shut down do to something shorting out

Why do you have gloves on.
Because your mother dropped you on your head witch was on his fist ✊ did want to leave a print
Hahhahaha legend
I wish I had more knowledge. This video is not for the average joe.😢.
a messy loom def makes the engine bay look dirty, cheap way to really tidy things up
Soon as I saw that soldering iron I knew you didn't have a clue about modern automotive practices
hey man, I love your videos they have really got me thinking of doing my
