Thanks, yes. I did the shocks again with Monroe ones, as the initial replacement were cheapo ones and I hadn't really noticed the clunking before. We checked the axle bushings, brake calipers, exhaust, bearings etc. There were three of us, two mechanics and myself. I've also been spannering for over 50 years, so I have experience. We just couldn't find it, and I'm suspecting the bushes too, although no play seen with a tyre leaver and note only 20k miles. It's a very deep knocking sound and definitely coming from that area on rough surfaces. There's no towbar fitted. I did find an article about certain years of c3 rear axles having a problem at manufacture, leaving a chunk of metal in them. This is too much like play in a joint, shock mounts, and the like. And yes as you say that axle setup is simple. I haven't been in another one to compare, hence my question.

@@paulheard7309 Thanks for the weight loss comment, myself and the Mrs have been on diets since may of last year… I’ve lost 6 stone and she’s lost 8 😱 Yep, definitely a shame about the driveshaft 🙄 cost me £20 in oil 😂 I did this job the day before he crashed the car and on the day he crashed, i did the glow plugs in the morning and it was upside down in a field that evening 🤷🏻‍♂️ We are just glad he’s ok! 👌 Next weeks video is the glow plugs and the last in the playlist 🥲

@@PocketRocketGarage There’s two opinions on this subject. 1. Give it a flush to clear out all the old sludge/bits. 2. Just change the oil and filter. I have always gone with option 2. If the engines working fine and you change the oil and filter regularly, i would just leave it alone. My dad used to say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” I’ve only ever put an engine flush in, when i’ve had a head gasket go, and the oil was emulsified. Just had a look at your channel. I’m on holiday next week, i’ll have a binge watch from beside the pool 👍 Personally i wouldn’t flush the engine unless you’ve got other problems/symptoms. Hope this helps. Sandy.

@gilberesrepairs I did turn the steering after disconnect the tie rod from hub but still bolt head hit the cv boot. After install the new lower arm put the bolt from below and 30mm nut at top

@gilberesrepairs Hi, yes it does. I believe there might be some procedure to follow to put it in some kind of maintenance mode but I can't find a source that's reliable.

@@taurusv29 Yes, I’m unsure of the procedure to safely keep the handbrake off 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’ve not touched my son’s rear brakes yet, therefore don’t know myself. Sorry i’m unable to help and good luck! Sandy.

I’ve had this problem before 🤬 I kept trying the central locking and manually operating the internal handle and button repeatedly. I ended up wacking the door in frustration whilst unlocking on the key and it unlocked 🎉 I didn’t lock the car after that until my secondhand new lock turned up. So, in short i managed to fluke unlocking it, whilst beating it 😂😂 Sorry i haven’t got a technical answer for you 😂 Let me know how you get on beating it 🙄 Sandy.

@@afterburner94 Definitely renew the oil. Manufacturers (not just Citroen) advertise long servicing schedules, so they can say they are cheap to maintain, but it costs the car owner more in the long run because of premature wear etc… For the cost of the gear oil and a day playing with the car, it’s a no brainer 😉 Definitely a job to plan in this year when the weather gets warmer 👍 Sandy.

@gilberesrepairs Thank you, I appreciate your effort. In my C3 it's 37.5cm so about the same, but I do remember it was higher before, maybe 39 or more and the suspension was softer. So it appears my mechanic put the correct type of suspension but it's not like the original one.
