I’ve read a few adaptations that explain Hook and Peter’s relationship, and you’re theory isn’t far from the mark that often appears. Peter initially wanted to “play” with Hook and the pirates, so he stole their treasure. When Hook and his pirates came after him (as per Peter’s story of being surrounded by pirates), Peter managed to cut off Hook’s hand in the fight and threw it to the crocodile. He then later threw a hook down to Hook, telling him that he should use that in place of his missing hand since it would be suitable due to his name.

With Tinker Bell (who he's already met and not on good terms with) known to be out on her own with only a group of small boys in his way, one might assume that Hook sought to capture Tink and use her for his pirating purposes. Suppose he actually got her and was making off with his prize, only to be stopped in the harbor by a flying twelve-year-old with a habit of slashing the Jolly Roger's sails. Hook fights to be rid of Peter, and fails as usual, but snatches Tink in his left hand as she makes a break for freedom. Peter slashes his hand off, frees his friend (mother figure?) Hook is angry, Peter inflates his ego, Tinker Bell owes the kid her life, and a few years later down the line the Darling children stumble into this mess. Dramatic, no?
Being honest I don’t like Peter Pan. I love hook though. Peter Pan doesn’t seem like a nice person because he has done things in the movie that seem very wrong to do. Peter Pan is suppose to be good not bad. I liked a video I saw on TH-cam asking why does hook hate Peter Pan? That’s a good question. That caught my eye a lot. Peter Pan seems like a kid who thinks he can do whatever he wants and don’t have to listen to anyone.

So in defense he grabbed Hook's sword and swung. The episode is call "First Encounter" if you would like to watch. It's on TH-cam :) This adaption is honestly my second favorite Peter Pan adaption besides the Disney one.

I have a suggestion for a theory and it is about Tinkerbell. We know how twins exist. But, fairies are not familiar with twins, only siblings. But, how would a sibling exist. Like, would human siblings create fairy siblings. Can you try and find out how siblings work, not twins. I am VERY confused.
No, periwinkle and tink are technically the only pixie fairies that are sisters. If you've seen the entire movie Secret of the Wings, it states that they were created by the same laugh. The laugh split in two, one landing in the winter season and the other in the summer season. They have identical wings as well, so I think that classifies as twins...? But the baby that laughed in the original tinker bell laughed by herself, so peri and tink being sisters because the baby laughed with a sibling kinda goes against this.
Fairy twins or triplets are caused by the the laugh splitting and creating multiple fairies. In the books, there are fire talent triplets, and in the movies we have Tinkerbell and Periwinkle. Siblings can have different talents, but I think that's sort of rare.
I feel like you need to read all of JM Barrie Peter Pan novels. There’s more than one. Try The little white bird first. It has Peter pans origin story and than there’s Peter Pan, Peter Pan and Wendy. Plus you should read comments made by JM Barrie. His father is Blackbeard. And captain John silver is afraid of Captain Hook.
I would agree with the whole theory's end result, although come on man Peter isn't going to think with that kind of deliberation. He may have even just thought Hook's quest would be impossible for a one handed pirate. Hook's hook still needed to be fashioned to fit on his arm right where his hand used to be after all, & faries can fly

The reason why it happened because Hook lied to Pan and the lost boys, but Peter is the unknown antagonist because if nobody believed in fairies, they would get tortured by him. Captain Hook was also a good guy and that is why he wanted to become rich and live his life as a pirate.

Taking into consideration that in the sequel, hook could have (despite the war as well keeping that in mind happening around the time) done exactly that, unless i'm mistaken, given the fact that his ship was still capable of flying as those of us who watched the film saw- but he doesn't, no. Instead, he kidnaps who he believes to be wendy, apparently having forgotten what she looks like as well as the concept of time being an actual thing... not to mention, how did he know where she lived? ...stalker much? idk. anyways, he didn't plunder and pillage the world while they were to busy with their war to stop the pirate, instead he kidnaps Wendy's daughter and brings her BACK with them to neverland to torment peter in someway.
Legend has it that as Hook's hand was being thrown to the crocodile, right when it was in the middle of its jaws, the hand paused for a brief moment, and gave Hook the middle finger by itself, and then got eaten by the crocodile.

On my gosh, this is a good video and I like it. I am a writing a fun Disney Peter Pan prequel/ Tinker Bell series finale story and this answers some of my questions what may have with Peter's battle with Captain Hook. To be honest, I don't think Peter Pan is that malevolent to cut people's limbs off (JM Barrie's version yes). I think like you said, it was to stop Captain Hook and his evil plans. I believe Peter Pan cut off Hook's hand because Hook was super close to kill someone (e.g. Tinker Bell or the Lost Boys). Like an instinct and a quick reflex without thinking, he bolted without thinking. It's like, he's not trying but he did all the same.
3:54 In an episode of Jake and the Neverland pirates, we learn that Peter is a protector or something of the sort and that's how he can fly with out pixie dust. So back to what you were saying, he probably cut off hooks hand when he was protecting Pixie Hallow.(just some food for thought)
I really enjoyed this video - however, I think the book Peter And Wendy gives us the REAL answer : in the author's mind, it is absolutely mandatory for children to seek fun and be cruel, while completely dismissing the severity and consequences of their actions. Also, Peter tries to kill a friend, because he thinks he killed Wendy (who he just met only a few hours ago) and his friend accepted his fate (he only survived because a very much alive Wendy grabbed Peter's hand every time he tried to strike his friend down). Growing up is against the rules (most certainly Peter's rules), so Peter 'takes care' of his friends, once they get old (although not outright stated, it is heavily implied that he kills them, there and then - perhaps to prevent them to become pirates like many adults ... or, more likely, just because he's cruel and tyrannical). Once you know how much the original author insists on the cruelty and tyranny of children, it becomes quite clear that Peter (who is not really known for making plans, anyway) acted mostly out of cruelty. Another possibility is that he wanted to take Hook's place, all along. This is hinted at, when Peter takes over Hook's ship and makes a hook figure with the fingers of his right hand (yes, in the original book, it's the right hand - not the left), while wearing Hook's coat, as the children travel back to England, at the end of the story. Then again, Disney's Peter Pan is not the same as the original, so your explanations are very good, too. Great video. Keep making them so good - they're nice to watch.

I always thought Hook's hand being cut off was the result of Peter Pan's pranking nature. That's the reason in J.M. Barrie's novel. I just assumed Disney left it in because it was important to Hook's design, but omitted the reasoning to make Peter more likable.

Ever try watching FOX's Peter Pan and the Pirates? I know it's different from Disney but there was some very good motivation in that one where Peter tells the Back Story of how he'd met Hook & Cut off his hand the episode is called "First Encounter".

Sorry for commenting like this so late, but I'm not sure if anyone has every really talked about this. The point of the book is that you need to grow up. Peter is not supposed to be a hero. He's an immature brat that borders on being a sociopath because since he's forever a child he never developed empathy. We like to imagine children as clean slates that need to be taught evil, but they are really often selfish and impulsive that do whatever they please without thought about how it affects others, which is what most people would consider evil. But since it's Disney and the 1950's all that moral ambiguity that was a core theme of the book is tossed aside.

He won't grow up to learn and be trapped by society- he does not care. All he wants is to be better than it. Theatre Geek I know there are for Tinkerbell and friends. There's a whole prequel series about tink, her friends from the movie franchise, and new faries altogether, like never before seen. And in one of these books from the series it tells the story of how tink met Pan. Its actually pretty good.
I actually have two theory ideas: 1. Why could Tinker Bell fly after being in the water in Peter Pan 2 when it was already established that a fairy cannot fly with wet wings? 2. Why is the Octopus obsessed with Captain Hook?

Tink is definitely NOT Peter's mother figure. I would say she is more of a guardian / guide / playmate. She is just as childish and immature as Peter.

I have a suggestion for a theory and it is about Tinkerbell. We know how twins exist. But, fairies are not familiar with twins, only siblings. But, how would a sibling exist. Like, would human siblings create fairy siblings. Can you try and find out how siblings work, not twins. I am VERY confused.

No, periwinkle and tink are technically the only pixie fairies that are sisters. If you've seen the entire movie Secret of the Wings, it states that they were created by the same laugh. The laugh split in two, one landing in the winter season and the other in the summer season. They have identical wings as well, so I think that classifies as twins...? But the baby that laughed in the original tinker bell laughed by herself, so peri and tink being sisters because the baby laughed with a sibling kinda goes against this.
Fairy twins or triplets are caused by the the laugh splitting and creating multiple fairies. In the books, there are fire talent triplets, and in the movies we have Tinkerbell and Periwinkle. Siblings can have different talents, but I think that's sort of rare.

I feel like you need to read all of JM Barrie Peter Pan novels. There’s more than one. Try The little white bird first. It has Peter pans origin story and than there’s Peter Pan, Peter Pan and Wendy. Plus you should read comments made by JM Barrie. His father is Blackbeard. And captain John silver is afraid of Captain Hook.

I would agree with the whole theory's end result, although come on man Peter isn't going to think with that kind of deliberation. He may have even just thought Hook's quest would be impossible for a one handed pirate. Hook's hook still needed to be fashioned to fit on his arm right where his hand used to be after all, & faries can fly

The reason why it happened because Hook lied to Pan and the lost boys, but Peter is the unknown antagonist because if nobody believed in fairies, they would get tortured by him. Captain Hook was also a good guy and that is why he wanted to become rich and live his life as a pirate.
I like your idea and think it's what happened, it fits with the books, movies, and plays.

Taking into consideration that in the sequel, hook could have (despite the war as well keeping that in mind happening around the time) done exactly that, unless i'm mistaken, given the fact that his ship was still capable of flying as those of us who watched the film saw- but he doesn't, no. Instead, he kidnaps who he believes to be wendy, apparently having forgotten what she looks like as well as the concept of time being an actual thing... not to mention, how did he know where she lived? ...stalker much? idk. anyways, he didn't plunder and pillage the world while they were to busy with their war to stop the pirate, instead he kidnaps Wendy's daughter and brings her BACK with them to neverland to torment peter in someway.

I found this funny how this was recommended to me exactly two years later. I was cast in Tinker Bell, a play version of the original novel as well, which is ironic. Great theory videos by the way!

On my gosh, this is a good video and I like it. I am a writing a fun Disney Peter Pan prequel/ Tinker Bell series finale story and this answers some of my questions what may have with Peter's battle with Captain Hook. To be honest, I don't think Peter Pan is that malevolent to cut people's limbs off (JM Barrie's version yes). I think like you said, it was to stop Captain Hook and his evil plans. I believe Peter Pan cut off Hook's hand because Hook was super close to kill someone (e.g. Tinker Bell or the Lost Boys). Like an instinct and a quick reflex without thinking, he bolted without thinking. It's like, he's not trying but he did all the same.
3:54 In an episode of Jake and the Neverland pirates, we learn that Peter is a protector or something of the sort and that's how he can fly with out pixie dust. So back to what you were saying, he probably cut off hooks hand when he was protecting Pixie Hallow.(just some food for thought)
I really enjoyed this video - however, I think the book Peter And Wendy gives us the REAL answer : in the author's mind, it is absolutely mandatory for children to seek fun and be cruel, while completely dismissing the severity and consequences of their actions. Also, Peter tries to kill a friend, because he thinks he killed Wendy (who he just met only a few hours ago) and his friend accepted his fate (he only survived because a very much alive Wendy grabbed Peter's hand every time he tried to strike his friend down). Growing up is against the rules (most certainly Peter's rules), so Peter 'takes care' of his friends, once they get old (although not outright stated, it is heavily implied that he kills them, there and then - perhaps to prevent them to become pirates like many adults ... or, more likely, just because he's cruel and tyrannical). Once you know how much the original author insists on the cruelty and tyranny of children, it becomes quite clear that Peter (who is not really known for making plans, anyway) acted mostly out of cruelty.
Another possibility is that he wanted to take Hook's place, all along. This is hinted at, when Peter takes over Hook's ship and makes a hook figure with the fingers of his right hand (yes, in the original book, it's the right hand - not the left), while wearing Hook's coat, as the children travel back to England, at the end of the story. Then again, Disney's Peter Pan is not the same as the original, so your explanations are very good, too. Great video. Keep making them so good - they're nice to watch.

I always thought Hook's hand being cut off was the result of Peter Pan's pranking nature. That's the reason in J.M. Barrie's novel. I just assumed Disney left it in because it was important to Hook's design, but omitted the reasoning to make Peter more likable.

Ever try watching FOX's Peter Pan and the Pirates? I know it's different from Disney but there was some very good motivation in that one where Peter tells the Back Story of how he'd met Hook & Cut off his hand the episode is called "First Encounter".

Personally I always felt that for James Hook, Tiktok represents time creeping up on him. That he'll be old and (by his own measure) a failure, and worse, a joke. Something he cannot abide. Sorry for commenting like this so late, but I'm not sure if anyone has every really talked about this. The point of the book is that you need to grow up. Peter is not supposed to be a hero. He's an immature brat that borders on being a sociopath because since he's forever a child he never developed empathy. We like to imagine children as clean slates that need to be taught evil, but they are really often selfish and impulsive that do whatever they please without thought about how it affects others, which is what most people would consider evil. But since it's Disney and the 1950's all that moral ambiguity that was a core theme of the book is tossed aside.

He won't grow up to learn and be trapped by society- he does not care. All he wants is to be better than it. Theatre Geek I know there are for Tinkerbell and friends. There's a whole prequel series about tink, her friends from the movie franchise, and new faries altogether, like never before seen. And in one of these books from the series it tells the story of how tink met Pan. Its actually pretty good.
