The decade my grandparents met and got married! He was an English soldier and she was an innocent Italian girl from a strict Roman Catholic family. She gave up everything to move to the UK with him in '47, so romantic. They had their marriage strife but were together for 61 years in the end, real til death do us part stuff. Thought you may find story interesting, now I watch another lovely video 😊

My Great Nan was 18-28 during the 1940s (Born in December 1921). She talks about that time alot since she had a stroke. Her memory has cast itself back to her youth. Always love hearing what it was like.
She turns 103 this year and is still alive.

Yes, but those are really expensive. The cheapest I see are around $130!

@JeannieBASMR $130?!! That's insane 😭 I managed to see one on Amazon for £27 (About $35) for the 1930s. But since I'm from the UK I'm not sure if it's available there :( The 1920s ones are extremely expensive, must be rarer to find.

The Womens Land Army, that's what that show was about they'd actually do all sorts of farming related jobs over here during the war, we also had a similar initiative to the victory gardens too, Dig for victory was the slogan, if anyone is interested in learning about the war itself I suggest the WW2 in real time channel, and thank you for doing these Jeannie, as someone who loves history particularly the US in the 20th century these are really interesting, I actually put these on in the day because they're so interesting I don't fall asleep

Not so fun fact: The overuse of Antibiotics has/is producing a really big problem being that some bacteria are evolving to be resistant to Antibiotics (Some strains of E.coli are already Antibiotic resistant)

I just found 1900-1919 all American ads (but pricey $$), 20s, 30s on Amazon & EBay. =) They seems to be paperback.
I found the 90s book on sale on Amazon, and just bought it. I can’t wait to look through it since that’s the time I grew up in. Nostalgic =)

In 1975 i had a friend that had a hope chest. We were ten at time. Her parents helped her to fill it.
I went home and tried to start one but lol i had too many brothers and sisters and therefore our family could not afford to start them. But thanks for the memory...i had almost forgot about hope chests.

My daughter and granddaughter live in the Woodlands and though I grew up in Texas -- north Texas. I find the Houston area humidity hard to take!! But worth it to see my granddaughter. 😊Hurricane Harvey gave me a lot of comfort because The Woodlands was planned so that the golf courses take on the excess water.

I was born in the 80s, but my family is very traditional, I had a very close relationship with my grandparents, so I actually had a "hope chest" and am familiar with a lot of things in this book. 😄 As for Rinso with Solium, I believe the "Solium" is sodium silicate, which buffered the water and was a smaller particle than other rinse aids in detergents at the time. So, it would rinse more cleanly/completely leaving cleaner looking clothes. I guess it worked pretty well because Rinso dominated the market until Tide came along.
Thank you for doing these flip throughs! It's so cool to see things from the past, especially realizing how much of my life has been influenced by these things directly because of my family culture. And thank you for keeping it light. There's a time and place for heavy historical content, but it's nice to just enjoy some content that isn't contributing to the catastrophic thinking our society seems to be stuck in today. ❤

My husband and I had to cut short a holiday in Jamaica before Beryl hit .. we were lucky to get back to the UK ahead of the devastation. I was sorry to see that one person lost their life on the island, on top of all the power cuts, property damage and travel disruption. Climate change is causing true havoc this year - as predicted a while ago.

When I was in law school I drank so so so much coffee that I could drink it before bed to warm and relax me. I got to the point where it would do for me what I wanted it to do: give me pep or put me down. So strange for that works.

Hi jeannie would you consider making a video explaining how your pregnancy went and how you learned to raise your newborn and any tips for breastfeeding and any other tips like changing their diapers , sleeping, feeding basically how your whole experience was. Id find it very comforting.

I live In Whittier CA and right now Is the hottest time of year with the temperature In the triple digits and we don't have AC only fans and open windows it's miserable I cannot stand summer or the hot weather and can hardly wait for fall and winter
