Great review, thank you, Optimus! A2+ definitely sounds like it has a wider range with clearer vocals and wider soundstage. But both options are sexy desktop solutions

Thank you, and that's it exactly! They're definitely both winners, but I think for me and the kind of music I listen to, the Kantos win most of the time.

Very true, but kanto's seems to have a more kind of natural presentation of the sound. It's like the A2+ has some dbs up at the top end, it sounds a little artificial to me.

The A2+'s sound wider, but to my ears less natural, a bit like when a 'spatial audio' or an 'enhanced audio' setting is activated. It sounds a bit hollow. The Kantos are more neutral and a bit more organic sounding, a bit coloured in the bass though, it has a nice round 'analogue' belly.

The sound sounds like it's being influenced by speaker placement relative to the mic.
The audio engines are both positioned closer to the mic so it's easier for the mic to pick up on the treble sounds while the kantos will get drowned out by comparison since they're conically farther, thus giving a clear "blanketed" sound on the kantos when listening to this video.
Might have been better if the speakers were positioned identically on each side instead of like a mirror

I get that speaker placement makes a difference, and I could have spent more time with it, but I thought this picked up the differences surprisingly well. The mic was the built-in mic on my Nikon DSLR about 8' away dead center. Dome tweeters aren't as directional as, say, a horn tweeter, so the field is pretty wide. Thanks for the feedback, though; that's a good suggestion when I do my next review!

Frankly speaking, the YU2s sound like they've been covered with a blanket. There's not enough ringing. But using an external equalizer, I got a great sound. The downside is that when I connect them to my TV, I get the default sound and it's sad.

Yes, they badly need an equalizer. It's too bad that a bass/treble control isn't built into these.

If you connect it to a receiver before connecting to tv then you'll have an equalizer. Connect to receiver through line out or pre-out

A2+ sounds better so much more clarity and imaging,
the kantos sound like "over there"

The A2+ actually was impressive when it came to instruments, whereas the YU2s were flat, but not offensive. Too bad a combination of the 2 doesn't exist!

I am a complete noob when it comes to sound, but i would say the A2+ sound wider and louder but with too much treble for my liking. The YU2 sound more natural but they seem to lack some punchiness.

Yes, that's it exactly. The A2+ sounds amazing with certain songs, but the tweeters created almost like artifacts, especially with vocals. The YU2s are not offensive at all, but not exciting either. Honestly, if the best of both were combined, it would be one heck of a speaker.
      Thanks for watching!
