Hey, tanks for the vid. wondering is there a way to keep using the van's stock mic so we dont have to run an exta cable around somewhere? not sure if this was asked before. i didnt see it lol
I’m pretty sure this way too hardwire the stock mic to an aftermarket radio Me personally have not found out how to do it. That’s why I’m running a aftermarket, Mic.
No, I did not have trouble with the volume what I did have was that even if the volume was set to low, it was on the high side, but no worries adjusting volume
Hello! So if anyone is interested in buying this head unit (there are many different screen sizes and different housing but look at the back of it and usually they all look the same and have the same internals.) I have found that it is great for cheap. Still, there is 1 big downside that no one seemed to talk about through many TH-cam videos, the audio quality (surround sound, and audio chips that are built in with the uConnect 430 series) are lacking in the aftermarket unit. Yes, that is to be expected but what I found is if you turned the volume up to any higher levels (to hear it if the windows are down or whatever) it will start to distort the audio usually I found the front tweeters start to pop really really loudly and the other side of volume if at 1% volume, it still was pretty audible. The equalizer is kinda a mess to get it perfectly aligned. So I did a decision I should of not have done (I did return everything after all of this keep in mind) I got a Kicker amp that had fancy stuff built in to make it sound good yet still after all of that it just did not sound as good as the factory sound system, Yes the factory sound system is not the best in the market but this just made it worse so I got it uninstalled and returned it. This is due cause the uConnect system already had Dolby Atmos built-in and other technology to enhance it and professionals already tuned it (THAT WAS ACCORDING TO THE AUDIO TECH THAT INSTALLED THE AMP.) Hopefully, this is helpful for anyone who was concerned about that. -side note all my 6 speakers were upgraded to the stock Infinity speakers (the previous ones were damaged and found Infinity ones cheap at the junkyard) -the issue with the head unit is that the audio was worse than the factory head unit, and it got very hot if you had a high volume for a while. Otherwise, if you want Carplay/Android auto for cheap it's an okay alternative. I have no idea how it sounds if you already have the 10-speaker amplified audio system so if you have this didn't really help, sorry! yes, I have reposted this comment from a similar video to this, I just want to help yall before you guys buy this! Again I am not saying this is a bad head unit, its just you get what you pay for saying.
any luck getting the built in Mics working? from what I'm told the car has 2 mics in the rearview mirror. Anyway to keep those instead of that small mic? How does their mic work ?
I had somebody else had the same problem. He said he took it into a stereo shop and they connected two wires, two red wires together and instant sound I believe it’s a wire from the stereo that gives power to the amp. Check a red wire coming from the stereo harness to the cables that connect to the stock harness.
Hello and thank you for watching. so the yellow wire is for the SiriusXM antenna and the other little adapter I believe is for factory USB or steering wheel control.
The factory built camera is not high resolution, and the display on apple carplay is way better. Let's say the apple carplay default is 2040p and the backup camera is on 780p, and it is stretched to fill the whole screen
Excellent video! 3 questions: 1st: does this mod retain the facorty amplifiers/subwoofer/speakers? 2nd: in your opinion, overall how does it sound? 3rd: did you ever get the button mapping to work to reverse the button directions for track/station steering wheel buttons? Thank you!
Hello and thank you for watching. 1. Yes 2.from 1-10 this unit is a 6 3. Yes. I got to work. To be honest with you I ended up getting a different unit a couple months after I installed the one on the video. I got the TEYES unit. This Amazon unit was a bit glitchy with the Apple CarPlay. But the TEYES unit ever since I installed it. No issues at all Highly recommended. And the sound quality is better. I will say from 1 through 10. This is an 8. Here’s the link. th-cam.com/video/-Rifc_jaQ4M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lghYv6Sk1Hv_2pKQ Links to this radio it’s on the description of the video.
I have a few questions. I have a radio very similar to this one. 1) are you getting the frame to lock in the dash or can it be pulled out fairly easy? 2) I can’t get the steering wheel control to work at all. Can’t program them. I’m not sure if the canbus decoder is correct or what I need to do.
Yeah the frame does not lock in place it pulls easy. If you fallow the video. You need to get In yo the canbus setting and activated it. Look at my video again around the 14 minute mark I start explaining about the canbus setting.
@@RonDIYMods ok, thanks for confirming the frame issue. Also my canbus box is different from yours in the video. Does it matter?? I msg you on your instagram, I’ll send you a pic of the box.
Si at the beginning. Of the video you had the original kit at the left and you said that you found the kit with the frame an the wiring I just want to know where you got it
When I made this video their was seller on eBay that was selling the kit but he no longer has an active links. But in the description of this video theirs a couple of links to aliexpress that are selling the frame and cables.
Your welcome I don’t have this unit anymore by when I did screen resolution was not bad better than OEM. Now I have the TEYES unit. Way better no glitching.
Yes, everything should be plug and play but in order to make your OEM rear camera work you need an extra adapter cable. Link to the cable is in a description of the video.
My question is really does the harness have a separate brake wire from the radio to ground out the radio when it’s in park or does it retain the factory park brake wire with the factory harness..in other words can I by pass the park brake so my wife can watch movies while we ride trip with out sitting in the back
@@RonDIYMods ok cool and thanks for the response I seen your other video of the other radio you installed now that you had some time to try out both do you still like the second one better the SIM card really seems to be a big plus
@@ChadSudano honesty i like the TEYES unit better. I haven't had any issues with it and performance is better than the first one I installed. yes, the sim card is a big plus when running apps like google maps and TH-cam.
When you order from Ali make sure you pick the one with frame and wires. If you did then I suggest to contact them to inquire about your missing items.
Radio looks great but can you tell us how the sound is? Original radio has a very decent built in amp. This radio almost flat. Need a separate amp? Thanks in advance
im trying to order this whole setup as a gift for christmas but the dash and canbus kit on Alibaba wont come in until a while after any chance you found/know of another link maybe somewhere stateside
No, my van did not come with the multimedia center, but apparently you can make an aftermarket radio work with another harness that you have to buy separately and apparently with this harness you’re able to control the DVD and the back screens. Also, this harness allows you to keep your OEM rearview camera. links to this harness are in the description of the video.
Thanks for the video. Everything at my end is working fine even steering control. But there no audio when i play music, no even for radio. Its completely silent. I have installed in Dodge caravan SE. any insights?
Double check the connections that have the color-coded wires. Those are your speaker wires make sure it’s connected well because that’s weird that you’re not getting any music or any sound coming from it. Also check that your stereo is not in mute.
Thanks for the video! I have put your same system, for the camera I believe it is a problem with the original camera….very bad quality. My biggest problem is the fact that the android radio doesn’t turn off when I turn off the car. Turning it off with the button on the screen it only turn off the screen not the radio. They told me to connect ACC cable, but the original radio is controlled by CANBUS and there is not ACC cable! Did you do any hack? Does your system turn off when you turn off the car automatically?
Hello. Yes when I had this radio it did turn off and on with ignition. It never stayed on. It might be a wiring issue not canbus. I would recommend checking the power wire maybe it’s not connected or wired up properly. Theirs two main power cables one that goes to constant power, and the other one to accessory power. Check those cables maybe you might need to switch them around.
Hi! I need some help, so I mess it up in regards of clipping the screen before connecting the back up camera, how do I remove the screen without breaking it?
Hello, Thanks for your help. May I ask one doubt? How is the reverse switching work? Is it through the CAN network. I don't see you are running any extra wires. Thanks in advance
Yes I’m using the vehicles OEM wire harness to connect to the stereo via a separate cable that can be use with this android stereo. Check out this video. I install an aftermarket camera with better definition for this android unit. Links to the cable is in description of video. th-cam.com/video/_2TBYGLkIgQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Xyd_QLm6PYPjRYsx
Did you do anything to get the reverse camera to work? I have the same similar setup but nothing happens when I put the car in reverse. My stock camera doesn't initiate. I'm not sure what will give my stock camera the 12v it needs to power on in reverse. My wire harness has a reverse pink cable and says I should connect it but all those instructions are for installing a after market back up camera with a red wire.
If you have the stock camera on your vehicle, you need an extra cable that is link in the description in order to retain the stock reverse camera. It’s plug and play.
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have that cable you suggested and a different cable CRTCR01 by Scosche, that I had to dremel out some plastics on the connecter to make it work but uses the same wires. Both do not initiate my camera on my Android head unit. I'll have to troubleshoot some more. From Five Star Car Stereo's video "How to retain your Cars factory backup camera Installer Diaries 253", th-cam.com/video/wLvfER-V844/w-d-xo.html, I hear the factory camera uses 6v and might need a 12v to 6v stepdown converter for stock rearview camera retention. I'll have to check with a multimeter if the camera wire is putting out 6v, when I have a time to troubleshoot further.
With this particular set up.. do you have to have your phone connected to a USB in order for the apple car play to function with your phone or can you do via Bluetooth for Apple CarPlay as well with this?
Me personally I don’t have the rear monitors so I wouldn’t be able to tell you if yes or no but there is a cable that you can get that says it retains the real function monitors. check out the description there’s a link there.
@@lifeofkaimusic oh ok I see. Theirs a extra cable you need in order for those screen to work. It’s the same cable that controls the rear view camera. Link in the description.
So I live in Canada and want to do this to my van but I can’t find the parts you linked in the description aren’t available for me here like they are I. The US, so do I need to get a dash kit and the head unit separate? And also how would I know if the head unit would fit into the dash kit well?
Check the links for Amazon. They come complete as a whole unit. If not then the aliexpress link might work for you. You would need the stereo and the bezel kit.

thank you for watching. And yes I experienced a little bit of lagging when I was using the Apple CarPlay. I ended up going with TEYES unit that one has no problems at all.
When it comes to your particular year and model this kit does not fit. Ive seen people on TH-cam put a double din aftermarket radio with apple car play. that's a route you can go.

Hello and thank you for watching. Ok so my factory audio system didn’t come with rear monitors but there is a harness you can buy separately to retain rear monitor functions. Here the link: to retain rear view camera with rear monitors
amzn.to/3BjFnrA
When checking the link is says it’s for 08-12 model grand caravan but I have a 2017 and it work.
@@RonDIYMods ok great thanks for replying so basically I can use the same factory wiring with this adapter you posted and I should regain picture on the rear monitor correct? Because the whole point at the end for me it's the kiddos watching movies would be awesome to use streaming apps
@@baltaorel yes with that adapter you retain function of the rear monitors. have you checked out this video th-cam.com/video/-Rifc_jaQ4M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YXPwWo5AkD9eFhRl
Nice video. I have 2012 Town and country, i know it is same setup. Is it possible to play video on the back screens?
Apparently yes you just need an extra cable if you go to the description on the video there’s a link there you can retain rear view monitors and back up cam.
Muchas gracias carnal! Me ayudo mucho este video
Me da gusto que mi video de ayudo Hermano.
Hi thank you for share this . What year its the grand caravan? Months a gobintry to change the radio on my town and country and I cant becouse no have the 12v power wire . But now a go to buy a grand caravan gt 2019 and wanna know ifthis works. Thank you!
Hello my Dodge Grand Caravan GT is a 2017 same as 2019 that your going to buy. Yes this system will work. Check out this video. I upgraded to the TEYES stereo it’s much better. Both stereo will work. th-cam.com/video/-Rifc_jaQ4M/w-d-xo.html
@5:58 Is there anything to do other than pull it? I took the screws out but it's giving me a hard time coming out.
Once you remove the screws you need to pull hard out. What I did was I stick a screw driver on top and wiggled it out
@@RonDIYMods Thanks bro! I wish I saw your video before I bought this Kenwood got. This helped a lot! Sub!

So i was looking at your video and in need of a bew ine cause my went Caput lol i would essentially need the radio thats like 99 and the frame that comes with the cable thats like 20 ?
Yes.
Great video, Thanks! But the original yellow plug and the smaller grey plug is not used? Does the USB connectors power the radio?
Yes yellow and grey plug not in use with aftermarket radio.
Where is the link at for the kit in the middle ???
Can you explain what you mean by kit in the middle
Thank you!!
👏🏻
Bro i have a cuestión, you know where Is the ingnition cable
No bro but with a power tester you can find it in the fuse box by switching the ignition on and off and see what fuse make the power tester light up.
Great video, but the link to the harness is for the whole radio kit, I have the radio, just need the plug and play harness
When I made the video the seller on eBay was only selling the plug and play wires and frame. And the stereo was from Amazon. But now the seller is selling a complete kit( stereo, wires, and frame) and his shipping from Canada. That’s why I updated the links.
@@RonDIYMods not a problem I mailed the supplier, hopefully they can help with just the harness, thanks.

Did you ever have issues with the volume not adjusting? No matter how high up or down it goes. The volume doesn’t change.
-side note all my 6 speakers were upgraded to the stock Infinity speakers (the previous ones were damaged and found Infinity ones cheap at the junkyard)
-the issue with the head unit is that the audio was worse than the factory head unit, and it got very hot if you had a high volume for a while.
Thank you for this information.
any luck getting the built in Mics working? from what I'm told the car has 2 mics in the rearview mirror. Anyway to keep those instead of that small mic? How does their mic work ?
No luck on making the factory mic to work. I’ve been using the mic that came with the aftermarket radio.
I can't get any sound. Did I miss something? I can connect bluetooth but no sound coming out
I got the same issue. Pretty anoying. Dodge Grand Caravan 2014 for my part
I had somebody else had the same problem. He said he took it into a stereo shop and they connected two wires, two red wires together and instant sound I believe it’s a wire from the stereo that gives power to the amp. Check a red wire coming from the stereo harness to the cables that connect to the stock harness.
Just did this. What is the yellow wire. And the other little adapter that was on the factory but is not used or mentioned in this video ?
Hello and thank you for watching. so the yellow wire is for the SiriusXM antenna and the other little adapter I believe is for factory USB or steering wheel control.
The factory built camera is not high resolution, and the display on apple carplay is way better. Let's say the apple carplay default is 2040p and the backup camera is on 780p, and it is stretched to fill the whole screen
So the factory camera is not HD so it doesn’t stretch the image is just a bit distorted
Good video just got a 2019 GT. I want apple carplay but also Sirius
Yes you can get apple CarPlay check out this video as well. th-cam.com/video/-Rifc_jaQ4M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JRoL8W0Kg7EDV-BH
Excellent video! 3 questions:
1st: does this mod retain the facorty amplifiers/subwoofer/speakers?
2nd: in your opinion, overall how does it sound?
3rd: did you ever get the button mapping to work to reverse the button directions for track/station steering wheel buttons?
Thank you!
Hello and thank you for watching.
1. Yes
2.from 1-10 this unit is a 6
Here’s the link. th-cam.com/video/-Rifc_jaQ4M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lghYv6Sk1Hv_2pKQ
Links to this radio it’s on the description of the video.
Is it trustful bc it says it from china ??
Hi, thanks for the clear information. Do you have a link for the mic which you bought seperately? Thanks!

Hi great job can you plug in a U S B onto the stereo to listen to music ????
Yes you can
Why the extra harness for the back up camera when the included harness already has it
This stereo does not come with the harness for the rear camera.
Were you ever able to find a new plug and play harness kit? If not is the device still simple to install?
I believe this cable can work check it out

Thanks for the video. What about the screen resolution?
Your welcome I don’t have this unit anymore by when I did screen resolution was not bad better than OEM. Now I have the TEYES unit. Way better no glitching.
When you plug everything up does the backup camera still work ?
Do you need to do any spearker wire hook ups ?
Yes, everything should be plug and play but in order to make your OEM rear camera work you need an extra adapter cable. Link to the cable is in a description of the video.
Do the left-hand side buttons light up for nighttime?
Yes
I have a Lancia voyager from 2014, it’s interior looks the same than your car. Will I only need the radio from Amazon to work, or any adapter? Thx
If everything looks the same as far as the stock radio, then all you need is the radio from Amazon.
My question is really does the harness have a separate brake wire from the radio to ground out the radio when it’s in park or does it retain the factory park brake wire with the factory harness..in other words can I by pass the park brake so my wife can watch movies while we ride trip with out sitting in the back
It’s all a plug and play harness to OEM harness. But I was able to watch TH-cam while driving.

Mine did not come with a Camera. So I'll have to buy one. Let me know if you install an after market one, and show me how you did it.

I have added a few links to the bezel and cables. also check out this video th-cam.com/video/-Rifc_jaQ4M/w-d-xo.html
How do you secure the unit in the dash- Because the one I got it just slides right out. With little effort there's no snapping it in
Your right it’s not fully snapped in. For what ever reason that’s how it’s held in. Not fully secured.
Does your van have the multimedia center?how does this work with the dvd player
Did you figure this out?
Did you figure this out?
Do you have the link for the rear screen retention cable the extra that you bought PAC

All you do is pull in the frame it won’t break.
Hello,
Thanks for your help.
@@RonDIYMods thank you so much for for reply
What's the connector that you used to connect the OEM CAM to the system??
It’s the link is in the description of the video.
Can you still use the dvd monitors mounted in the roof?

Me personally I don’t have the rear monitors so I wouldn’t be able to tell you if yes or no but there is a cable that you can get that says it retains the real function monitors. check out the description there’s a link there.

Not sure but it’s a android unit. I’m pretty sure you can downloaded
Great guide. I ordered all the parts you suggested from your links and it went in very smooth with the video you posted. I found when running Apple Carplay it is choppy. Having this issue with both the music and even the gps. I contacted the seller and they had me turn off the location which fixed it but it does not retain that setting and has to be shut off everytime I turn on my car. Anyone else having this issue?
thank you for watching. And yes I experienced a little bit of lagging when I was using the Apple CarPlay. I ended up going with TEYES unit that one has no problems at all.
Would this work with a dodge caravan 2010?
I believe not the 2010 model has a different style radio
Are you still happy with it?
For the most part yeah. Like I said in the video I really wanted because of the apple car play.
Did it work for Chrysler grand voyager 2009 or did you know other radios that fit for it?
When it comes to your particular year and model this kit does not fit. Ive seen people on TH-cam put a double din aftermarket radio with apple car play. that's a route you can go.
check out this video it shows how to remove the stock radio to replace it with an aftermarket one. all you would need to get is a double din radio and wire harness to make it plug and play. th-cam.com/video/YJ2eh4gotUg/w-d-xo.html
Great video! How did you get the OEM USB port in the glove box to work? Was it connected to the new radio at all?
No. Not connected to the stereo at all. It’s integrated and powered by the OEM harness.
Thanks for the video. I did all of this. Hooked it up and it worked, sound was fine. The next day I went to use it and no sound. I tried everything and still no sound. Any thoughts on this issue?
Are you playing audio from the stereo or Bluetooth music. If you’re playing Bluetooth make sure your phone is not muted and your phone volume is up.
Every single thing works perfect. No audio. I’m have tried everything. Unplugged it all, back in. I feel like there is some type of mod that I need to make to supply audio

How do you connect to the AC?
You need to activate the canbus on the settings of the radio. I show how in the video.
I see there are a few options 4core/8core, 2GB/4GB/8GB RAM, and 32GB/128GB memory, which one do you have?
