- This is another great group that actually looks like they love making videos and also love to sing. This is a fairly rare hit of theirs, parachute clubbed has originally uploaded this but I did find a better quality version. Right On Track would probably be their biggest hit.

I'm 38 , I remember playing my dads record collection of vinyls, Breakfast Club and Michael Jackson I listened to repeatedly . Call me old school or whatever, but when u can listen to artists whose songs are more than 30 yrs old and u can still smile and dance to the music and have that not a care in the world good feeling , then u know the power of that artist's heart they put into their gift . And u also know why music is an art that transcends eternally . Breakfast Club is truly one of my fave groups of all time

I would've sworn this band was from rhe UK. They sounded just like the greatest British new wave bands. Only now in 2022 I just found out they were American. What a band!

I must have bought this CD at least 11 times. Ex-Gfs & friends kept "borrowing" it; never to be seen again lol Lucky I digitized it and it still remains on my phone, to this day!!

Breakfast Club, a band polished like a diamond, was part of the beginnings of Madonna, Stephen Bray, and Dan Gilroy, whose creativity and talent each defined their own style of music until they reached success. Dan Gilroy with a unique voice combined with the Pop sound of his great songs like: "Right on Track", "Never Be The Same" "Kiss And Tell" and his spontaneity, great humor, and genius in his videos, enshrines him as one of the most influential artists of the 80s!

I kinda had the same sense, had to laugh when saw your comment :). On the other hand they couldn't exactly do a serious video w/those lyrics & their ages --- almost has to be a better place in between like w/o the silly stuff. But I like the lead's voice, & think the whole thing's definitely got charm!

Probably a new fact to absolutely no one on here, but the lead singer, Dan Gilroy, was a boyfriend of Madonna's in the early '80s, when she was part of this group. So was Stephen Bray, the drummer here and the man who brought Madonna to a record deal when he recorded a series of demos with her in '80 and '81. Real shame the group didn't take off beyond '87.
Andrew Harmon agreed. It is sad they didn't take off seeing how they were so musically diverse from one song to the next. Didn't the guitar player in the white jacket at the end of the video go on to sing lead for Train? Just kidding...but they look kinda similar😉
And the lead singer hooked up with Shelley Duvall actress from The Shining and is now after 35 yrs going to do a documentary about life with Madonna and releasing love letters, videos, and recordings of her and them He's like 69 don't get the point of doing it now except he must need money....
I really didn't know all of this, but a so-called Madonna's seeming proclivity to have had a boyfriend, boyfriends, lovers, flings, husbands, effing, if u will, her first producers on here first album, etc......

This band is going to get a lot of attention with the Maddona doc on Hulu. It might even bring back this type of 80s sound. Members having written some of Madonna’s early hits, they seem to have been overlooked. The blue eyed soul sound was largely overlooked by critics of the time. I really like the fusion of music and fashion. We could really use this sort of fun again in music and pop culture.

The Breakfast Club was always a favorite group of mine from the 80's. Good stuff.
I had really only heard of these (despite being born the year their eponymous album was released) but after seeing the "Madonna and the Breakfast Club" documentary on Hulu earlier this evening, I had to check them out. Most of their songs really make me want to cry, because they seem not only introspective, but also autobiographical. The way that Madonna seemed to breeze into all their lives just to be ultimately torn from them because of her ambition and the cruelty of the music industry affected each of them profoundly. Each track seems almost to reflect this very specific time in their lives from the late '70s to the early '80s, and it really makes me sad. Even more so because they finally made it as a band, but only for a short time, despite being incredibly talented. It's almost like the music scene said time and again: "We only want the super beautiful star material singer/songwriters, not everyday people, begone!"
I always loved the Breakfast Club! And after their first album, I always wondered why they never made a second one. And the song Tongue Tied was a song I would have liked to sent to some beautiful girls that I wanted to approach when I was a young shy kid. God bless the Breakfast Club!
