The kitchen cabinets are classic and solid wood. Anything else would look like an afterthought
I wish I could like this a thousand times! Wood is always in style. My cabinets are custom from the 50's. They would cost a fortune (70k+) to replace with similar quality. Keep them.
With kitchen cabinets it more about: the type of wood, the condition, the sturdiness, functionality and if you like them in the space !! 🥰. I like those cabinets in your space.

It is not all pensioners, those on a low income still qualify. I have just applied for pension credit for my mum, it took minutes. If you don't qualify then you must be on a reasonable income plus pensions have just gone up by quite alot. I come here to get away from politics, but could not allow your misinformation to go unchallenged.
@@Bubbasmum this is true and needs to be remembered. Most pensioners can save a fortune by switching energy supplier, but often they choose not too. I recommend Octopus who give green energy and wont sign you up to a deal unless its good for you - they also have guarantees and acres of awards. Come on pensioners - switch and save money.

Also, in my 63 years, I have seen the Milky Way ONCE! When I did, I was overwhelmed! I couldnt stop looking at it and even cried because it was one of the most beautiful and breathtaking things I had ever seen!

100% agree with your decision to keep the kitchen cabinets and other wood features. They bring so much character to the space and also, it's a lake house! While they may not be the choice for many of us (I live in a big city), the wood fits perfectly with the overall environment/vibe.

* * * * OK So You Know.. I had a wonderful dog years ago and he would sit out back near the fire with us. He seemed to get sore hips when getting up from being on the cold ground for too long.... So I brought out a comfy rug for him to lay on.. HE LOVED IT! I would hang it over the fence until we were back there again and he would stand there and wait, staring at us, until we put the rug down.. then he would run over and sit or lay on it right away... as if before one of us were going to sit there first. He didn't have any problems after that. Yes they are only dogs right.. (errgh, of course not!) I think it is only fair to give them something comfortable to lay on to enjoy the lake as well... and also on the decks at both houses. Especially the ground as it sucks the heat out of our bodies and causes joint issues..(this is survival training, why to never sleep directly on the ground, so yes it is a real thing) Hoping to see some doggie rugs soon guys.. You Will be amazed at how much they love and use them.. I promise.. OXOXOXOXO

Seeing you both sitting around the open pit fire with the dogs and the silence reminded me so much of the days when my Mother we three brothers and one sister would travel to my Grandmothers farm in Pennsylvania and on nice evenings we would build a nighttime fire sit around it roasting hot dogs, fresh corn and marsh mellows in the silence under the trees and the dark blue sky listening to the crickets. Seeing you two sitting and relaxing by the fire brought back such a very precious memory to me - thank you.

I think a window in the laundry room would be wonderful. Doing laundry is never fun, but having a beautiful view and the lovely fresh breeze would make it much more enjoyable while folding clothes. Love the countertop sink, too!
Absolutely, I would add that a mirror is also useful in the room, I would suggest small window, mirror, window.
That view is a beautiful place for a window. You even have space on the sides for a 'folding door' style of mirrors to reflect light around after dark.

A great laundry room sure helps that drudge job. I just got a new laundry room and all of a sudden I don't mind doing laundry. Your home looks gorgeous, but that night shot from the lake with the lights glowing...just beautiful.
Dumpy is such a find. It seems there isn’t anything he can not do. People like him should be SO wealthy, but probably wouldn’t want the hassle if they were. I have found, the more you own the more it owns you. He seems to enjoy his work, and clearly is a perfectionist in his craft. My Grandmother was like that, only it was sewing. Shpe could look into a storefront window. Come back home and draw out a pattern on newspaper. Then recreate the dress.

While I have your attentions. Found a discarded bathroom cabnet. The top of it is heavy wood and I want use it as a cutting board. Problem: 1 5 in studs in the corners. Is there a way cut the studs off?.

I love the shipping container house and have followed your journey all the way, but your lake house is my total favourite. Look at that night sky ... Wow!!!!. Hey! When you have a lakeside cabin, it screams for 'RUSTIC'. Also, it is particularly a good idea. If you are going 'modern' in your container home, it becomes a welcome alternative to relax at the lake in a warm rustic haven that is different. After all, your rustic interior has all the modern conveniences, right? Anyway, decor is a personal reflection of you two, not all of us distant watchers.
I also love the wooden interior. Where do you get that today? It also fits to the house. Good decision!!!

The cabinets in the kitchen were a good decision to leave as is. The charm of the home is the wood. I may be the only one who will however say that too much white isn’t as cabin-like, as the colors that were there. (But then it’s not my house, so you do you!) 😊 I live in an all White House, save for the bedroom, and it’s just not me. I like cozy colors. But hey, the charm is still there in your home.
As much as I like a mirror in bathrooms, having a window in your bathroom/laundry room is a better choice, albeit more work. But yeah, the window would be nice so as you’re folding clothes, you can look out and enjoy the view.
The lake house looks just as a lake house should. I mean you guys are putting in the details inside and out, making it like a vacation home. Trust me, I’m very envious of what you have going there. Keep up the good work!

I am so glad you recorded the two of you talking. Listening to that and the fire crackling in the background brought back memories of being at my grandparents home on a lake near West Bend Wisconsin many decades ago. Congratulation on the merchandise and thank you.
