This board looks crap tbh. Asrock is not in their best period rn, they cheap out on whatever they can, resulting in cheap performance on their recent boards. HWunboxed tests usually confirm this too. Rather spend 20-30$ more on a TUF/Strix/Aorus board, and then you know you bought a quality product.
Aorus boards in my experience don't o.c. well at all, my 2 kids have em' and they just don't perform all that well in my case. I'm an MSI guy personally, but Asus is cool also.
I personally had great luck with Asrock motherboards, Taichi's are my favorite and even Steel Legend, I have one running 24 / 7 with a 5800 Ryzen rock solid.. Asrock like most brands, have the low end boards that might fail the expectations, but since I never buy the lower end, I never had issues with them.
Hello :) Could you please help with choice between ASRock B550M Pro4 vs B550M Riptide vs B550M Steel Legend, all three boards are close in price. Thank you in advance.
I can see why they leave the internet update option out on AM4. I have seen so many people brick their AM4 boards because of compulsive updating (particularly on AM4). More than once I have had to send boards back because the end user has updated their BIOS to the latest version and their gen 1 or gen 2 CPU is no longer supported due to BIOS ROM size restrictions. Even on boards without such restrictions you then run into the old "but the XXX board has the option, why doesn't mine". Given there are ROM size restrictions the amount of code needed to program an auto update function that not only looks for newer updates but checks the CPU model and compatibility with said versions becomes problematic. As a tech I honestly miss the days when the end user didn't even know the BIOS could be updated.... As they say, a little knowledge is dangerous.
really love your review about on board audio , i hate external audio solution because its too expensive for no reasons and i prefer a clean set up on the table,, SCHIIT stack, audio quest or whatever it is just a quick money grab for whatever they call audiophile, but i call them idiot, any china dac/amp of it will do a good job or better with cheaper price
What's with board manufacturers still putting on legacy mouse connections still? I mean I just love hooking up a mouse from the 90's to my brand new build...
@@hansmaker1236 wouldn't you just kiss that board goodbye and junk it at that point? It still seems useless and a waste of time if you are just going to replace the board anyway.
He also tends to be pretty intel oriented it seems. Maybe it's his old schoolness, maybe he hates hype/band wagons. Older intels that are still relevant tend to be better than the old AMD FX series. Or all the stuff that other guy mentioned. Sadly I've been AMD/Ryzen for years now so I dont even keep up with the latest Intel models.
I think if it was cheaper, it'd be a great budget board with an m.2 heatsink and a thunderbolt type-c but compared to its competitors like the aorus elite v2 and msi's stuff. Well it just isn't worth getting it over them
I had 3 AMD ASROCK B550 Riptide's, NON OF THEM WORKED! It took 6 months to build a computer, I had to use ASUS. MSI and Gigabyte had problems the USBs NOT WORKING and the bus on a Gigabyte not working and I can not return the the idem. WHAT GIVES! I have 5 motherboards that will not work! I lost over $1000 USA dollars and they brand new! They need a working CHANGE!
B550-F has no USB 3.1 Gen 2 front panel header (lacks this header completely in fact) and all of the B550 Asus boards use Intel's 225 Ethernet controller of which steppings 1 and 2 are known for having some significant issues (you can google these).
@@ShamanKish i mean yes, it is backwards compatible, but if you want to use older chips, i think you should just use an older motherboard instead, unless you plan on upgrading soon, and are just waiting for the prices to go down and stock to go up, but even then, i would still wait a little longer, and something like a b450 board and maybe a 3600 should last long enough.

True, if you have people updating bios that doesn't need to it can cause problems. Though the convenience of it is really good!

You need them when your usb-controller says goodbye. Heavy overclocking can cause that for example...

Hi bro, Very good video and Channel 👍🏻
Hey do you ever give a reason why you went with the 10900k instead of 5800x
We could rant all day about that comparison, good question :)

Great video as always 👍
Another great video
I bought a B550 ITX Auros last year for my R7 4750G but I am worried that 5xxxx will be the last processors it would support. Will 6xxxx be AM5 only?
should i buy this mainboard or asrock b550m steel legend? both have the same price
Hey Brian have you thought about Biostar am4 Mainboards?
@Tano of course it does they recently showed off their new 11th gen Intel Mainboards.
What is the name of the sound test tool youre use in these video for the freq.graphs

Actually b550 might be better for memory overclocking than x570 since most x570 boards are pretty old
What's up with that giant oldschool clock in the background?
The MSI b550 unify x had the best ram oc at 5800mhz on any am4 board been a 2 dimm board.
if i'm not careful when i riptide, it leaves a big mess
Does the fx stock clip on cooler work with lga115x if you have a ring adapter? On paper it should work right?
@Tano I'm thinking of mounting the cooler on h410 on a i3-10300
what is the riptide function
I would still pay a bit more and get the X570S Riptide, the price gap is not much..
For the Ryzen 5600g to work do I need to update the BIOS?
ja, Steel Legend looks mutch better imo. riptide is more like ripoff ;)
is it better than steel legend series bryan ?🙄

Maybe $80 would be good for it
wow i remember when asrock boards were cheapies
160$?....take a b550 Aorus Elite V2 for same Price but with decent sound and Wifi
you can get the aorus elite v2 for 50 less here...
Hi Mr. Tech yes city, please help me, tell what the chepest mobo where i can get clr bios cmos button?

Yeah, I'll just stick with my ASRock B550M Pro4.
$100 flip up challenge season 2?
Why bother, when the B550f strix is $189.

Asrock?.....not in this lifetime.
imo x570 is only really needed for the higher end 5000 CPUs
x570 will work with older Ryzen chips, while b550 won't.
