Captain you have a vivid imagination and innovation, you put a smile on my face when I see your videos, thank you for making me smile and thank you for being you!!!
WoW! You're raking up the views now, brother. Few are more deserving. And, this is a project that will be concerning me soon once I move out of the city and into the country here in Nevada. Thanks.
Hi Captain. Your ability to adapt and learn as you go is great but even greater is you bringing us along on the journey. Your humor and dialogue with us as viewers always puts a smile on my face a makes me chuckle. That’s why I always look forward to seeing your videos. Thanks for being the dad and family man you are. Stay safe
I was blessed to grow up with parents that had multiple businesses. I was running torches by the age of 8 and stick welding by 10. My weld and torch cuts at that age looked just like the stuff entry level college students do in their early 20s. Don't worry about how things look right now so long as they work. Getting better will come with experience and time. You are doing just fine :)
Much better summary. Good job teaching yourself. My father learned to gas weld using steels cans and welding them end to end. He said everything else seemed easy after that.
You're doing good Mr. Mike. It's awesome to see a homeowner fabricating a piece of kit and learning a new skill at the same time. That's how we should go about life. Work with your hands and slow down a little bit. And don't ever forget- Edison didn't fail inventing the light bulb. He found 2,000 ways how not to make it. My only suggestion on your torch work- if you're cutting toward you, raise the handle just a bit above 90° to your workpiece, and if you're cutting away from you, lower the handle. That way the preheat flame will get your steel up to kindling temp and you'll get a cleaner cut with a bit less slag.
@@CaptainKleeman I'm going to send you a few tips for your torch. One is a washing/gouging/scarifying tip. It has a curve to it so you can make a nice flush cut with it. Like for instance when you were cutting the tabs off and what was left of the rollers of the forklift frame. Plus a few others that'll make life a bit easier.
Great job! There's nothing like O.J.T.! When I started farming I quickly learned there were things you could not farm without: air compressor, cutting torches, welder and 4 x 4 pickup! With my old Ford T-20 small square baler, I'd bale awhile, run to the shop and weld on it for awhile! But, I ran 20,000 bales through it and sold it for more than I paid for it. One thing about that baler: it never missed a knot! Thanks, Mike! PS: At 7 am this am, we had 1/8" of frozen rain on the ground. I could not stand up on my gravel drive. Be safe! Lee
Cap’n, you gave my dentist a run for the money today… he is always telling me that another tooth needs to be drilled and filled. Or worse, come out. You put in a whole lower set without anesthetic, blinding lights and warning that I need to take out a second mortgage! I’m gonna send him a link to this video… he can learn a thing or two! I like the design. Thanks for the peek at the Whoppa Choppa and beauty of the 755 showing off her new tail piece! Stay warm bud… it is 11f here with blowing snow. And it’s coming your way!
If you put your weld on the side you want to pull it , it will help with your clamping ! Welds pull towards the side you weld it ! Put a piece of sheet steel on the ground to catch the slag ! Slag on gravel , stone , cement can explode ! You're doing Great !!
It's a beast !!!! Will definitely dig dirt that's for sure ** it will work just fine. Might have to tweek it a bit but will do great. Now make me one lol !!!!!
Great job Captain, Great the way to take the time to do your projects and take the time to spend with the Kido's Great job. Where's the pup haven't seen it lately.
Two suggestions, add a piece of light chain to your pins for the scarifier so you don't lose them and get a rosebud for the torch, heats a lot better. It's a work in progress just like life. Stay safe stay warm.
You're coming along with fabrication much faster than I did, way to go. A few things I've learned that are worth mentioning: Watch the I C Weld channel and you'll learn more about fabrication than watching 20 other welding channels; I always use 6011 for my root pass and then top with 7018 passes and I get strong welds that don't look too shabby; buy some inexpensive magnetic welding positioners (I have some Strong Hands but there are many equivalents); when money permits you'll find that an Evolution Cold Cut Saw will improve your projects because the fit up is much better; "When there's slag, you drag"; 1 amp per thousandth of material thickness is a ball park rule that's on the hot side but a good starting point; a useful technique called "Texas Tig" is worth learning; and when money permits a plasma cutter is better for cutting many things than an oxy torch (having both is best case).
@@CaptainKleeman 7018's built America and they weld really nicely, but 6011's weld through crap and get deep penetration so they're perfect for root passes on materials that backyard warriors generally have available. BTW, a surplus 40mm ammo can makes a great rod storage box that keeps them dry.
I would think about some kind of keeper pin for this pins that lock the tines up and down. Looks like vibrations could cause that thing to bounce around.
Your doing a good job you will get the hang of it. Your learning more this way then have some one tell you how to. Some time pretty welds don’t hold crap
Fantastic video. Loved the snow work. Very clever thinker and builder. Goes to show one must protect the eyes and skin. Now to see it do the job which it sure will.
Great video as always. I really like the fact that you don't mind showing your learning process including your errors sometimes, it makes it very educationnal and authentic!
The way you swung the hammer from both sides makes me think you could be a switch hitter playing baseball. Enjoy following you in your adventures, thnks!

Hey I definitely appreciate it!

Lol very true!
Getting better all the time. I love the commentary. Thankfully we're here, so you're not talking to yourself. People might think you're crazy! 🤔
Exactly! Lol

Couldn't "get 'r done" without that torch! Not having to deal with bits and hole saws on that thick of metal is what would put a smile on my face🙂
The torch is definitely a game changer!

Your channel is awesome, just remember to go back and look at your old mad mud dabber welds and those were the days.

You're a welding/fabricator genius. MBTS got nuthin on you!
I like your way of using a ratchet strap and torch to bend the steel.

Just keep practicing and one of these days you'll be like Man Behind Scene!
A guys fabrication skills are coming along nicely.
Outstanding! Welds work, that's all that matters.
Thanks Rick!

My father learned to gas weld using steels cans and welding them end to end. He said everything else seemed easy after that.
Dang that's awesome!
use a "cutting torch" to do the gas welds, the skill needed to avoid blowing through any thickness of metal pays off when using a welding tip.
Your imagination is great,
I wonder does it keep you awake at night?
Awesome,,, thank you
Sleeping can be tough sometimes!
Yep, I’m still loving that lens for the torch/welder shots!
Thanks Jeff!
Your doing it, so you will get there. The welding is looking better every time.
