Shame on you all for not telling me how incredible an amp the 🍊 Rockerverb is lol. Serious question, though: who’s seen the new Space Jam movie? Thoughts??
I did a quick google about it, and the first thing that really popped was ''Lola Bunny made less sexy, and due to Metoo times the characters are made more political correct and the controversial Skunk has been removed.'' So yeah, screw the new one and long live pre-metoo.
It's amazing how much effort Hunter can put into an amp demo. Most guitar youtubers slack off on amp videos, but Hunter gives "Justice For All" gear demos.
I've tried the 50 watt version and it's literally one of the best amps I've ever heard. Especially with an overdrive out front! Need to own one someday
I've got my eye on the 50 too... me and the other guitar player in my band both use CR120's and they sound great when they're turned up, like 80% of the rockerverb sound....but that last 20% is where it's all at
One of my dream amps. I love getting a bit of its vibe from the OR15 but man this one is just so killer, as demonstrated in your SLEDGEHAMMER of a demo track. Also, the tone is in the beer stain rings.
I went through a phase where I really liked orange but I haven't liked most orange stuff for awhile. I respect orange for doing their own thing tho they definitely have a unique sound.
It's one of those things i loved when it was unique and special but now everyone and their grandma got one so i found something else that is not that commmon.... Still their stuff sound GOOD
This amp is also used on the majority of Dance Gavin Dance's albums, it just nails the post-hardcore tone when set in that sweet middle ground where you can get the punch you need just by digging in and the beautiful clarity you need by softening your picking/rolling off the volume knob/switching to a lower output pickup. It just responds so well. I hope to have the money to purchase one of these one day!
I used to go to the Orange store when I lived in the Est End of London in the 70's. It was the cool place to meet friends and check out used gear. Every visit there were new/old things. They are still one of the very coolest looking amps.
To hear the rockerverbs versatility outside of metal check out Omar Rodriguez Lopez, he uses one and he used ad140s in Mars Volta but switched to the rockerverb combo when he scaled back.
Great review! I’ve had the MKIII for a couple of years now and have learned a bit about its character. It sounds fantastic with JJ E34Ls. Adds just a touch of low end grunt and punch. The built in attenuator is perfect and let’s this go from bedroom to stadium, if you have this amp, you won’t need a small practice amp, and it’s tone is pretty great even low volume. Turning the attenuator totally off and using the volume and gain like a regular amp, it gets a lot of low end back in the tone and gets very loud and very rowdy. It’s naturally VERY saturated and gainy. In my opinion, ODs are best used as a clean boost. Put a 10 band in the effects loop and this thing breathes FIRE. The thing that sold me on this amp was when I first plugged in, it immediately sounded great, and if you like a simple layout and just want an amp that sounds killer without a PHD in tweeking, this is your amp. Oh! And the cleans are amazing. Warm, bright, sweet af and musical all day. Killer drive channel Killer clean. What more do you want? Reverb? Ha! Yeah, reverb is waaaaay better than the MKII. It’s just as good as the reverb in my old roadster.
@@silverjaw138 i used to have one too.. before getting this amp.. I don't remember what happened to it. But I just may have to pick up another. That Pedal Show was talking about it too
I just picked up a used RV50 combo. Despite almost killing myself carry it I totally love it. All tube amps should have an onboard attenuator. I’m too busy to really get into it yet, but so far the sheer amount of tones is incredible. I am really loving how well my pedals are taking to it. It’s just glorious. And I really am not a high gain player. Although I do appreciate the tremendous amount of gain options it has.
You need a foot switch for it! If you leave the reverb off on the switch but turn the knob up on the amp, the reverb's preamp tube will juice up the Rockerverb accordingly. You can turn the reverb knob into a "add third testicle" knob.
ORANGE!!!! They do one thing better than anyone... BALLZ! BALLZ! BALLZ! Big, fat, hairy, narsty BALLZ! The amps are super heavy because they are built with solid components, not a lot of composites or flimsy parts. But, you either LOVE them, or you don't. I LOVE THEM!
I used to be product manager for Orange in France. I got to try most of their stuff. I usually prefer High Gain, and this one is a keeper, but man their classic AD30 is absolutely fantastic.
i discovered the Orange Sound for me as well like 8 months ago. Its just has the right amount of dirt and sludge. It has some kind of ROCK sound and it always has this smokey Rock sound. Even in the clean and metal sounds. Not a versatile amp, but a unique saturation, dirt machine and one of my favorites for a while now. I love it. Also your most massive track so far. good thing you keep it
I play a lot of country music using an Orange amp. Granted, more rock-influenced Alt-country instead of neotraditional stuff, but playing some chicken picking with that unmistakable rock bite that Orange amps has just feels so right to me. No other amp brand that I've tried gives me that kind of feeling
I have an Orange Crush 20 and a Vox VT20X that I run in the Rockerverb MKIII mode in a stereo setup with a TC Electronic Mimiq Doubler. It is the best sound I could have ever asked for! I definitely believe Orange is my tone.
Love that orange tone. There was a band from the 90's called "Gwen Mars" that I seen live and they played a twelve string guitar though an Orange amp . Best sound ever.
I run mine with gain at 11 o’clock and play rock with it. Sounds insane for that as well. Very touch sensitive and I can roll the volume off into semi clean sounds.
I loved playing it clean and loved how easy it was to get good tone. But in the end I couldn't get over the always present fizzy tone in overdrive. I whish you could dial that out.
I’d get a big orange if I had the space for it for sure. Currently I’m loving their smaller offerings. I’ve got a terror stamp for travel (cab sim headphone jack is great) and the other terrors (tiny, micro) for apartment use.
I think you seriously underrate yourself as a riff writer. You are incredibly versatile when it comes to re-creating the feel of bands. Also, I'm torn between this and a Revv as my dream amp.

Great video, I never really connected to the Orange sound, but it is indeed very unique and super thiccccc. One suggestion though: would love to have the specs of amps or guitars you test a bit longer on the screen so I don't have to pause and stop which destroys the flow of the video a bit.
Goodness gracious that amp sounds so brutal. It's chunky, retains a really nice non abrasive mid range, and just seems like it's an amp that would feel incredible to play with all that meaty saturated dirt.
My old ears love hearing guitar with some midrange. Tight & scooped may sound good at home but you disappear quickly in a live mix. Nice touch having an IEC connector with an external fuse.
I own a vintage Jcm800 2203 and have bought a small 15 watt Magnatone and im ready to get an Orange Rockerverb 50. Gotta get some vitamin C tones too. Update. According to Ade, updated internal components for better reliability in MKIII which created for my ear more integrity in the amps sound. Also the clean is re-voiced with more chime. The high-gain channel is apparently the same.
I've always felt these amps needed a boost to sound good. They are a bit flubby for my taste without them. But with a boost they have one of the best tones.
