NOTE: This information is meant for educational purposes only .I am NOT a doctor nor pretend to be one. Nothing I say should be used to replace professional medical counseling. Also, PLEASE do your OWN research!
I would take Echinacea / Garlic / & Zinc religiously every day before pollen season…. Instead of allergy medicines …It helped me feel so much better! I put the three together years ago before learning about herbs . It encouraged me to want to know more about herbs. Thanks for teaching us! God Bless you!
What would I do without your videos. The first place I go when I need information. You go the extra mile to make it easy to find information and I am so thankful for that. You really are a treasure and blessing for so many of us. THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU ARE VERY APPRECIATED!!!!!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Heidi. Echinacea is not only a good remedy, but to grow it attracts lot of bees, useful for pollinazation and to get lot of fruits and vegetables in our home gardens. Have a good evening ❤🙏❤🌹
Wow - so many great benefits if you are not allergic to it. Just started seeds last week and look forward to growing this very useful herb. Thanks so much for your research on this herb.
Good morning!
You say herbs...I listen 🌿🌹🍃
Such a pretty flower, Heidi.
I started growing Echinacea Purperea 2 years ago, as it was supposed to be great for pollinators. Now I will be harvesting for the medicinal uses this year.
It is a lovely flower to have in a garden in general, but to watch it attract the bees and butterflies is so pretty.
Very much appreciate your knowledge.
Another great video! God bless!!
I appreciate all of your details ...all the ins and outs. Not only that such wise advice. ❤
My only additional is that you can only take it for (I think) 5-7 days in a row. Your body needs a break from it to be affective.
I heard it was 3 days in a row and then a break. But I'm betting it's different for almost everyone. I definitely wouldn't take it longer than a week just because we don't want our immune systems becoming dependent on it.
Heidi, you mentioned marshmallow in one of the comments. I'm in Az and wild marshmallow is sprouting up all over our yard ( every year...rain or shine).
Even the tiny sprouts peeking up withstand the cold frosts and even freezes we've had lately. It usually always warms up during day. I would love to show you pics but yt wont let.
So appreciative of all the volunteer marshmallow. Tastes good too. My neighbors consider them "weeds" and pull them :( :)
So crazy that your neighbors consider them weeds! They only grow in wetter/marshy climates here in Northern California. They are one of my favorite plants. I hope to figure out how to make actual marshmallow stuff from the roots one day. I'm glad that you're keeping the ones in your yard! If your neighbors ever manage to pull out whole plants (roots included), you might as well ask if you can have them! Then you could have a whole little garden patch just for those, or you could line your back yard with them.
Thanks Heidi, growing Echinacea for the first time! Taking notes on everything you say! God bless you!
And when you buy it it is not called echinancea but conflower
That would be Coneflower but not always is it called that. Depends on who you are buying it from
I think that might depend on the region you buy it from and whether you're buying it from, say, a nursery/greenhouse vendor or a place that sells herbs for medicinal purposes. Echinacea is a type of Coneflower. I know there are many different kinds. If you plant a garden with a few variations, it's quite a sight when they all bloom. So pretty!
My echinacea hasn’t come up yet, but it’s been cold so I’m not sure if that’s why. I found this video to be particularly helpful. Thank you! Many Blessings!
I have not even checked mine yet but am pretty sure I won't see a peak of it for at least a month, my marshmallow is coming up though :)
@@RainCountryHomestead I’m not sure about my marshmallow, I need to check it.
Thank you Beautiful Heidi🌹I thank God for you and your channel daily❣️ Grace and Peace ❤
One of my favorite flowers and herb, and boy do the bees love them!
Such a Beautiful flower. Will be using it this year. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! ❤
"The time of the singing of birds..."❤🐦
For anyone with allergies to that type of flower family, make sure to give echinacea at least one try. My personal allergy comes from the pollen/flowers, but the roots and often the leaves are usually just fine for me to take. The root may be a better option for many people. That might mean you need to grow it yourself rather than buy it just so you know you're actually getting only the root. But once those plants take off, they can grow like weeds so very little work may be needed to grow enough for home medicine stocking.
Finally got tk watch, i started growing it last year, it was in a big pot so i hope it comes back...Thanks Heidi ❤
Great video Heidi. I'm planning on growing dandilion and oregano so I can press it and use my Infuser to mix some up with either MCT oil or another carrier oil. I've never done anything like this and I'm hoping to use these drops to help heal my body. I'm thinking I should add echinacea to my garden.
If you have any parks or hiking trails nearby you, next time you go, just grab a couple dandelion plants from the ground. They are a very invasive species here in the US, so it's never against any regulations. I live in California, and pretty much any plant that grows like a weed except our state flower, people have no problem with some "weeding" for them. But I think near a hiking trail might be better for guaranteed organic and not sprayed with pesticides. Just a thought!
@@homesteadgamer1257 great idea, thank you 🤗
Love echinacea
Great information, thank you!
Thanks
Quite helpful. We harvest & dry leaves, flowers & stems and make teas for health. When colds & flus are going around we make teas with it for immune system. And when we get the bug it definitely is very beneficial for relief and quicker recovery. Thank you.
Thanks Heidi!
Blessings! 💜
Thank You Heidi!
I love your herb profiles! Great video! Thanks for sharing!🥰
Good information thank you
Wonderful ❤
Thanks Heidi!
Thanks Heidi 😊❤❤
Afternoon Heidi 🥰 I've been busy today, now I'm resting & enjoying your video🥰
I love growing Echinacea. We love the flavor in our teas. I add some to my salves . I learn something new with every video you post or have posted years ago . Love that you have a play list so I can find what herb I want yo use or review . ❤❤❤
Thank you
Love taking echinacea and zinc during cold and flu season. I work in an elementary school and it has really helped me not get sick
I will be growing it for the first time this year. Heidi, you have really inspired me to learn more about natural remedies and their uses. I already told my husband that we are doubling the garden this year!
Good informational video thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Thank you Heidi so much for this video, yes I grow it,but haven't started using it yet, this will be the 3rd year it's been growing 🥰 God bless 💞🙏💞
I love Echinacea! and I wish I could have taken all of my Echinacea, at my old home. I almost cried when they took them all out and turned it over to grass. Heidi did not know it could be used for acne! wow. Heidi, I love all your videos!!
Love echinacea!
Thank you Heidi. No will listen but the 3!tines I tried it I broke out in a severe rash head to toe. Do not know which plant sad I was years ago.
I got a bunch tinctured up back in the fall....from our own, home-grown, flowers! 😍 One thing I did read, or hear, is that, using preventatively, it's only good for 5 days...then you have to take a break for a while. Don't know if that's true, but, when I'm around, or have been around, anyone who's ill, I just take it for 5 days. 🤷
I just assume that applies to any herbs one is using medicinally which is why I always switch it up.
@@RainCountryHomestead Good assumption to make!
Here I am I been pronouncing echinacea as E-chin-a-sia. I just found out its pronounced ecanasia lol
Echinacea, chamomile and ragweed are indeed, in the same family.
Yes, as are a great many as the Asteraceae family is the largest of all flowers. So this also includes feverfew, sunflower, dandelion, calendula, and much, much more
Can I grow this flowers in greenhouse and how much watering g is good ?
No need for a greenhouse expect maybe when you are first starting it from seed. We live in a cool and very wet (rain forest) climate and mine all grows out in the open
Trying to heal a skin cancer legion nsturally
🥰
Would u recomend it for skin cancer
I cannot say that, one would need to do their own research to learn more about something so specific
🥰🤍
Hi Heidi, do you pick the leaves in fall all at once?how and when do you gather leaves?
Do you use the whole flower are just flower leaves?
The leaves are best when picked in spring before the flowers start coming on and all the energy goes into making the flowers rather than the leaves. Before the petals start to wilt, I will pick only them and leave the center to mature as I save the seeds to sell
Hi from Australia, I'm just wondering if you have ever used Pineapple Sage as I recently grew some from cutting, and no I'm not being lazy as all l have is a mobile to research and it gives me a crazy headache. Even watching your Videos is a struggle. Anyway love 😘 what you share, much love 💖 Diane. xo and may God Bless you and family.
Not really, I had a small pineapple sage plant that was given to me but it did not survive
@@RainCountryHomesteadThanks, l actually grew mine from cuttings on my kitchen window.
@@dianehamilton1793
I did a quick look in my books (I don't trust Google searches). Pineapple sage can be used medicinally like most sages, but it is mostly used in culinary dishes and teas.
All sages have antioxidant properties, and are supposed to be good for the memory. Pineapple sage is also supposed to be a carmative (?sp) meaning it has calming effects.
In Australia, if you can get your hands on a book by Isabell Shipard called How Can I use Herbs in My Daily Life. She is Australian, it is published out of Queensland, and is very hard to get here in the US.
@@reibersue4845 Thanks kindly, l will look her up, our power went out for like one and a half days, it was such a coincidence as I had watched you last and other videos on power outages , I had plenty of candles, and torches and battery's and had only the day before looking at oil burning Lanterns, once again God Bless you and family, much love 💕😘 from Aus. xo
Are the commercially grown echinacea the medicinal varieties? (Sold at Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart)
You would need to check the botanical name on the labels since I have no idea what they sell as such stores are too far from us
I know this is off topic but do you have a recommendation of where to buy marshmallow root? Mother earth doesn't have it.
I found your video on this! Thanks again. One of these days I'm going to look before I ask!
Hi Heidi 😊. I just got some spirulina and realize yuck. I was then looking at capsules to buy and know nothing about sizes. What size do you use? Just wondering. Thank you and have a wonderful day!
I use size 00 amzn.to/3OGV5TM
@@RainCountryHomestead Thank you
Hey Heidi. I found and bought some echinacea plants yesterday but the flowers are orange. Does that matter? Are they still medicinal/edible?
I do not remember, if you know the variety, you should look it up, I know there are two that are considered the most medicinal and the Echinacea purpurea (shown in the video) is one of them
Hello mam I am Manoj Pandey from India . I am cultivating Echinacea in bulk . I want to discuss something Is it possible to talk
But...
How much is the question for lowering blood sugar and help allergies🤔
Not being a doctor nor understanding each person's individual needs, I cannot tell you that information. Each person needs to take the responsibility of learning that for themselves, even if it means seeing a licensed naturopath or doctor
will watch later, our power is out due to snow storm
Hope it comes back on soon but I always enjoy those times as it helps me find any weaknesses in our preparedness :)
@RainCountryHomestead we don't have any but boy keeping the neighbors calm is fun...not sure WHY but when things go wrong ppl call me to handle the issues so been a busy morning!
@@Damselfly54315
Will you be in my tribe? I keep looking around and trying to figure out who would be best in a SHTF situation. My neighbors are great but not very preparedness minded, and if things go wrong, I am the one they call too.
I am a beginner as far as herbs and recently read there is a time limit to how many days you can take echinacea. I’m thinking they said 8 days?? Is there any truth to this? I’m on my second batch of the cold and flu prevention you had a video on. And my next project is going to be the pain tincture for my mom who has a type of arthritis, Palindromic Rheumatism. Want to make sure I use the right kind of echinacea.
Everybody seems to have a different amount of time they claim but I have always been of the mindset that any herb used medicinally, no matter what it is, should be switched up often and nothing taken for more than a few days in a row. I do not use echinacea daily and never have.
@@RainCountryHomestead what about the cold and flu prevention you make. I made it and take it every day. I absolutely love it and feel it does make a difference. But it has echinacea in it. Should I not be using it every day?
@@betsykinnamon2267 I only take it when needed such as for a day or two when exposed to sick people to prevent illness or if I do happen to get sick or think I feel something coming on, I take it. I usually only need to take it for a couple of days in that case
@@RainCountryHomestead ok great, thank you!
