When making your body scrub, do you try to dry most of the oil that is left in these or do you leave it in? Also, do you mix it with some thing else? I am pretty excited about this one so thanks for sharing!
Heidi, here's a tip for ya... I live in Texas and our summers here are insane. This is sandal wearing season and my feet tend to get dry and crack, also, sometimes my elbows and knees can get pretty dry. I mixed 1-cup of good olive oil, to a little over 1-cup of pink Himalayan salt; mix and use on dry skin and rinse w/warm water... I tell ya, you'll LOVE the softness of your skin; this is extremely handy for dishpan hands too, again, do it when your skin is dry, apply a bit (it goes a long way) and scrub, when you rinse... beautiful and healthy skin emerges. I sometimes use this scrub (I make a separate batch and will add an essential oil to give it that 'spa' feel/scent) in the shower and rinse... I do not have to put on any lotion/cream afterwards. For safety in the shower, keep some plain baking soda and shut the shower off and sprinkle the baking soda to 'wash off' the oils so you do not slip and fall. I enjoy your videos and the scripture... and yes, our God is ALWAYS good. Shalom.

Hi Heidi, I made my own skincare for a number of years, still do. Just a tip to make your melting process a little easier. Add your beeswax, Shea butter and coconut butter to your pot, once those have melted then add your infused oils....that way it will precent he beeswax from floating to the surface and hardening plus it will preserve the goodness from your infused oil. Another oil I personally am very fond of adding to my formulations is apricot kernel oil. Apricot kernel is a natural sunscreen, so will pair nicely with coconut and Shea butter, plus it has mega anti ageing properties.
Yes, I have done it that way before but the problem is I sometimes forget to add t he essential oils in later and start filling my tins only to have to dump them out and pretty much start over. So I have gone back to what works best for me
Made my face cream, I cut the recipe in half. In the oils, I also included a cap of evening primrose, jojoba, vit E, sweet almond oil, and caster oil. I am very pleased with the result.❤
This is very similar to the one I make. For this old skin I use cocoa butter. I've used it on my mom's (94 y.o.!) legs and feet when it give her a pedicure and she loves it!🙂 Ok. She loves being pampered too.😏

Hi Heidi, This was a wonderful tutorial. And I love what you shared about coconut oil and Shea butter being helpful as natural sunscreens. I didn’t know that!! I am going to go watch that other video that you mentioned about natural sunscreens. I really need that in Texas!! Thanks so much for all you share!! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️

rose geranium and vanilla , thank you A few times while hanging out in a stream we used the sand to exfoliate feet legs arms hands even the face, felt amazing.
Hi just wanted to say that coconut oil alone is my sunburn blocker(italian skin) but if swimming of course re-apply it. and to the lady who infused dandelion in her oil, that's a good idea since it is a skin cancer preventative. thanks again Heidi! We will all have beautiful skin because of you!

Thank you Heidi! I’ve learned so much from your channel and today you inspired me to use all those nice flowers I’ve been growing and dehydrating. I’m infusing my oil with calendula petals, rose petals, and English lavender and then I want to try your recipe for skin cream. Thanks to you, my garden is full of yummy herbs for teas, soaps, shampoo, creams, etc. ❤👍🏼😊
I don't know if anyone else suggested this, but have you considered placing your little tins on Parchment, wax paper, or a silicone mat before pouring? That way any drips could be gathered up when cooled, and placed in a jar for you to have it for personal use. Just a thought.
I actually now put my tins on my various wooden kitchen boards Patrick made for me. That way when I spill some, I simply rub it into the board to season and protect it. It is totally food safe and there is not one drop that gets wasted
Another option for very dry skin if you don't want to use sandpaper - wash with a nice sugar scrub. This helps to clear off the dead skin cells so that the skin can better absorb the moisture. My good friend used to make and sell lotion and she made sugar scrub with the same scent so as to work together with the lotion/cream.
I've just stumbled onto your channel and cannot get enough of your knowledge! Thank you immensely for sharing. This is exactly what I need. I've been making my own skin cream for a few years already,, but I'm inspired by your creativity and some of the comments on here. Blessings to all❤
I love these skin creams that I received from you yesterday❤ I may try to make them myself one day but right now it sure is easy just to order with PayPal! Awesome feel and awesome scent❤️ Thank you for offering these!
You're always teaching me new things, And I love it!!! So here is a tip I recently learned: If you melt your oils, then add your shea butter to melt, It puts less heat on the shea, and the butter will be smoother less grainy. 🤗 Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful knowledge and wisdoms. 💙🙏💞
@@RainCountryHomestead , It looked like you were heating yours on very low heat. So that's probably why you don't have any problem with it being grainy. A lot of people said that they heat theirs in the microwave and that probably overheated it. 🤓
@@ml3110 Yes, I always use a low heat to also preserve the benefits of the herb infused oils and the other fats. I would never consider using a microwave for this application
@@RainCountryHomestead Thank you again for all of your tips and wonderful teachings. I've spent too much money delving into all of this, I think. But I have been enjoying myself so much, I know it has improved my health just being happy getting back to basics like this.
I followed your steps for making this salve but used calendula flowers, yarrow, plantain and comfrey. I gave some to my dad who is elderly and always falling and cutting himself. He applied it to a recent gash to his forehead and he told me that within three days the bruise was gone and the cut was totally closed. Yippy, for homemade, nontoxic healing creams. I also made your salve without the plantain, yarrow and comfrey and dear Heidi, my skin is softer and moister than it's ever been. I've always had extremely dry skin and I love this combination of herbs and oils. Thank you for sharing and God Bless.
Another great video Heidi! All these things are so good for your skin, I'm a LITTLE older than you and have been using these skin creams now for a few years (my own and now yours too) and I LOVE them...I use them on my hubby's "cracked" fingers (mechanical guys) and he likes it too...thank you for all you do out there! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN
@@RainCountryHomestead Heidi, please be encouraged that there are so many people that LOVE you guys for how you stand on things, and the information that you freely give to those of us out there that truly use your lotions, potions, tinctures, etc. plus the gardening tips, etc. I, personally, have learned so much and I say thank you by clicking that button! My son makes lotions like this but with essential oils. I use just that in my face and body. I'm 57 and they are amazing. He made some for age spots, circulation, inflammation, pain and healing. Better than what's on the market!
I will be 57 soon and have been very happy, I make mine with essential oils as well, you may have missed that but for those who buy from us I have a total of four options and one does not include any essential oils for those with sensitive skin
Another great video, Heidi. We really appreciate your thoroughness!!! You are a really gifted teacher. Oh, and tell Patrick to be careful up there on that roof!
Thank you Christy! Yes, I pray every day that he stays safe up there. So far the worst that has happened is he dropped his drill in the stinging nettle which is now 5' tall! Poor guy had to get in there to get it out! haha
I love your videos, thanks for sharing Heidi. I'm heading out to the garden to harvest some blooms, I really need to start an infusion..... The noise from the roof was not a problem at all. God bless you, Kim
Glad that noise was not too bad, it is always hard to tell. Noises you think won't be noticeable end up sounding really loud in the video and vice versa, it is always guess work when you have background noises and pretty difficult to never have some kind of interruption when shooting videos from your own home - we may not have little ones around here but we do have a dog (sometimes two) and 10 chickens! haha
1/4/2021 - Hey Heidi! I received my Plant Therapy EO’s in the mail today, and have made your skin cream recipe 🤩 I used a large Pyrex measuring cup in a pot of water on low and it was sooooo easy to pour. I melted the beeswax first then added the other ingredients. Once all melted I added the EO’s mixed well and poured into the containers. I will tell you that the PT rose absolute EO smells AMAZING ❤️ The PT Vanilla smells super as well 🎊 Thank You for sharing this recipe ❤️ Blessings from Green 🌱Ohio!
I did not know that about sunscreen. Thank you! I found you a few days ago and I immediately subscribed to your channel. I look forward to making my skin cream and shampoos. Blessings to you.
Thank you for this skin cream video. I usually just use essential oils and coconut oil and whip it to make a softer easier to use cream. Will be trying the essential oils combination you use here. Thanks for all your videos!
I have normal to oily skin. I normally oil cleanse with coconut oil. I just apply it and wipe off with a warm wash cloth. It leaves behind enough moisture for my skin. I used to also honey wash in the mornings but for some reason our water heater isn't heating the water. It's easy to spread the honey if you add a few drops of warm water to it and then splash it off. It's harder to do that with heated water on the stove and I'm out of the honey anyway. Lately I just wear sunscreen on my face to prevent more acne scars yet and leave the rest of my body as is to absorb more Vitamin D and even in the Philippines I didn't burn. I've already had sun positioning even though I was sitting under a tree so I make sure not to overdo it. Also I'm out of coconut oil for now so I've been using a soap that's manuka honey and tea tree I got from winning a Wedderspoon giveaway from a natural beauty blogger I followed. Hope to get coconut oil again soon since it doesn't irritate my eyes like the soap does. Anything I put on my forehead migrates into my eyes and since soap mixed with water is runnier than the oil it gets in them.
Why wash it off? Warm water wash your face with wash cloth then ap0ply the coconut oil. The drains in the place you live will clog up over time due to the coconut oil becoming solid when in the pipes and will be a nightmare to unclog and cost a lot of money as that is not a typical type of clog, the plumber will be lecturing you about letting oils go into the pipes!
@@cindys.w.8566 That's how oil cleansing is done. It's not an issue if you wash them with hot water. Same as you would with greasy dishes or clothing. If I didn't wipe off the oil before going to bed it would get on my sheets and pillow. If I oil pull with coconut oil I spit it out in the trash.
Hi Heidi, I’ve been making my own skincare for about 13 years now. Just a suggestion. Add about 2% of your formula hexane free castor oil. Castor oil is a natural humectant, has anti microdial properties, and is wonderful in skin creams or hair treatment formulations.
Yes and while I do not prefer to add castor oil to my blend, I do use in conjunction with the skin cream, usually in the evenings as described in this video: th-cam.com/video/wfBOPlzSujE/w-d-xo.html And also in my castor oil series: th-cam.com/play/PLzVtTPDzFPKG77txPFzVfpyvOfMuo_7wk.html
I make an infused oil with beeswax and store it in a large easy to use [wide mouth] container and then as I need it, I add the essential oils and perhaps CBD oil, heat for 30 seconds to one minute, and stir with a very thin knitting needle. That way, everything stays fresh and not overheated. I sometimes put the salve base into 4 or 8 ounce jars and then proceed as above. It's very flexible for me. My CBD oil is calendula, coconut, sometimes comfrey oil all from my garden plus the CBD oil, and I named it "Atomic Balm". And it is as named. Just great
Great video, new subscriber here. Love how you mentioned that citrus oils can impact sensitive skin. I've got sensitive skin and I can never tolerate citrus oils and strong antiseptic oils like rosemary and teatree. Looking forward to your videos.
I’m working on my floral infusions as we speak! I’m so tickled to FINALLY have my own herbal flowers and such. We have soooo many ideas. Thank you so much for all your hard work sharing what you do. You are the BEST and I mean it whole heartedly!! Love, hugs and blessings ~The Kid! ❤️
Thank you so much Lisa! Hope all is going well among that chaos of moving. Excited to see what all you will be able to do once you get settled in the new place. Are you thinking of starting a channel?
Rain Country No channel for me but I’m trying to encourage my daughter to start one. She’d be great at it and mayyybe I would make a cameo appearance or two. Hahahaha
the spent herbs could make into nice fire starters maybe? It would be a way to bring a nice element to fireside time :) I love the idea to use it for a scrub!
Tip: I measure and melt my wax. I then place a heat safe mat over my scale and finish measuring out the ingredients. Entire process is done in just a few minutes. Thanks Heidi!
The essential oils you pick is the reason on how the cream works. Oils are very specific. They all have benefits but all specific benefits. You need to know what you need out of the oils for your skin needs. My skin is older so what I want is different than a 20 year old.
Generally speaking yes, but at 56 (next month) I find it really boils down to the main ingredients but I can mix up the essential oil and get the same results
Hi Heidi, Hello from hamilton, Canada. Love your videos. Love your skin. Glad I found your video. BTW just as an aside, I pulverize and use the left over "INFUSED OIL HERBS" from the infused oil and keep it a jar for use before and after gardening. I never ever throw out precious herbs in oil. If face or hand too oily I use chickpea flour to remove excess oil. I try to not use soap at all on my face and I am 68 with pretty good spotless skin. Thks for all your tips. Take care and be safe
Because I have to make a LOT of skin cream and have a LOT of spent herbs because this skin cream is a great seller on my store, I just do not have the space for storing up the spent herbs where most of the benefits are gone anyway. Here is a video I did on some of the uses for them: th-cam.com/video/eVUCY8iXfqk/w-d-xo.html
I had this thought while watching the previous (or the one before the previous) video on skin care. How about cutting open tea bags (leaves, of course, not powder) and infusing those herbs if we don't grow any? I sure hope you'll see this and let me know what you think. This is now 11 March 2023...i know...but I don't even want to do house work over learning from you...hahahahaha. Anyway, maybe that was a good idea. I thank Holy Spirit for whispering that to me, and I'm gonna try it. Blessings on you and yours, Heidi!
@@RainCountryHomestead Oh praise God!! I found the video where I asked this...hahahaha...I went through two other videos, scrolling through comments to see which one it was and if you had answered. Thank you, beautiful! Oh, I'm cracking up over here. I just love your videos, and I know it can feel strange to you because you don't know anything about us, but to us who watch you (binge watch, sometimes..hahaha), you feel like family. Sending love and God's richest blessings on you and yours, and thank you for the reply. I'll get some bulk herbs, but I now know I can do whatever I need to until they arrive.
I know many like DoTERRA but I will never again use or purchase any items that are from a Multi Level Marketing company. The reason they are expensive is because of all the middlemen that get paid. Many essential oils are edible regardless of brand, the only reason NOW foods does not claim that is because it costs a lot of money to get verified for such. Though I do not do it often, I have consumed some essential oils such as using the peppermint or orange as flavoring when making homemade chocolates. They turn out great
I'm wanting to get a scale. What kind is yours and where can I purchase one? I enjoyed this video on making skin cream. I've been careful about the products I purchase for my body for quite awhile. Now since I was diagnosed with cancer, I'm even more careful. I found your video and thought I can make my own and know for sure the ingredients are non-toxic and clean. Thank you for not removing this video. I'm so grateful for it.
The digital scale I have is linked in the description box under the video screen. Make sure to click on the word "...more" and scroll down until you find it
12/28/2020 - Thank You Heidi for this video! I had to order the Vanilla and Rose Absolute EO’s from Plant Therapy and look forward to making this skin cream very soon! 🌱
I'm so glad you added that I can go ahead and make the skin cream with the uninfused oil and already be using that while I'm waiting till I have the herbs and flowers I want to use. Thank you for sharing what you know.
For my feet, I use my home made magnesium cream on wet feet after my nightly shower and I put socks on, my feet are very nice and smooth not too soft. I once used coffee to scrub my feet and I couldn't walk for a couple of days as my feet were so soft. Coffee is also messy though it's good if you don't use it as hard as I did. Magnesium cream is so much better.
So 8oz by weight not volume… never thought to do that way .. one sure way it will be close to the oz of tin you have … learned something new ❤. Can one ingredient be more dense though and throw off your ratio?
So detailed and so much information. Great video. I want to start making my own skin care products as well as medicinal salves and such. This helps me and inspires me. Thank you so much for sharing.
What all herbs did you use in your infusion? I am wanting to make a separate infusion for a more intense healing salve (even though this one has worked great for me) and have been working up some ideas. I need to get started on that infusion though, I keep forgetting! haha
@@RainCountryHomestead this will be more of a healing salve. Comfrey, plantain and dandelion. With some essential oil's. My hands and feet get so dry and crack so bad in the winter. I think I can also use this for a bug bite salve as well. We have chiggers, mosquitoes and ticks so bad. Ugh
Could you add a bit of aloe vera to the skin cream? I would think this would also be beneficial for healing; especially for burns. We who do a lot of canning will inevitably burn ourselves on something, even the most cautious of us get it on occasion.
In order to add aloe to fats, you have to emulsify it by processing in a blender, otherwise they will not blend. Even then, the aloe will still sometimes separate from the fats. It is a messy process that is not worth the work in my opinion, especially when results can vary. I prefer to keep them separate. When I get burns, I use the aloe straight from one of my plants then later follow up with the my healing cream, which is a bit different than the one in the video above: th-cam.com/video/SVVViB57OS8/w-d-xo.html
And yes, I recently got my first real burn from canning (even though I have been canning for many years) and I talked about what I did in this video here I think about half way through it: th-cam.com/video/ItTJSUSR6Qw/w-d-xo.html
@@RainCountryHomestead Ok, just wondering if it would work or not. I have some shea butter, beeswax, and think I have some other thing in my craft room. Don't have time right now because of canning season, but this winter, I need to get something made up.
@@RainCountryHomestead Sadly, there are no exemptions! lol....we end up with some battle scars! I sliced the end of my thumb on one of those mandelins the first year I ever canned... got a half moon scar. Being diabetic, I babied it pretty good and did some soaks with coconut oil. My doc said that was the best thing I could have done and it healed well.
I use something similar to this, but I can't use shea butter since I have a mild contact allergy. Coconut oil, beeswax, vitamin E, rose essential oil, and cedarwood essential oil. I wait until the base is melted together before adding the essential oils so they don't evaporate during heating.
Hi, I noticed you recently commented. I just found this channel an hour ago. I am out of coconut oil. I don’t have bees wax. I do have a avocado oil, olive oil, shea butter and cocoa butter. A bunch of essential oil. Can I use these as a replacement for the beeswax? I really want to start making my own homemade. What whips up the best to make it creamy? I can grab the other supplies at Whole Foods if necessary. I use emulate but I’m out. It absorbs well and great for dry skin. It’s not oily and I won’t be adding emu oil. It smells kind of citrusy. My daughter is a honey eating vegan so bees wax can be used, but does it make it creamy?
@@greenfairy4894 bees wax is mostly used to solidify although it's also very good at keeping moisture in and softening the skin. You can leave it out. Both shea butter and cocoa butter are solid at room temp and can 5ake the place ofvthe wax. I would say that you could just mix what feels right to you. If it's too hard, add additional oil, too soft, add additional shea or cocoa butter. THEN add your essential oils. Be careful since some oils are irritating to the skin. Do a little googling before you add them.
You can reuse the herbs as a body scrub works amazingly. Just grind the herbs for few seconds and u will have a good body scrub
When making your body scrub, do you try to dry most of the oil that is left in these or do you leave it in? Also, do you mix it with some thing else? I am pretty excited about this one so thanks for sharing!

I had no idea that pansies were good for the skin. I’m so glad I learned that today because we always grow a lot of them. Thanks for the info!
I loved this easy to understand, step by step video. I just made my first batch and can’t wait to use it. Thank you so much! 💕
I've just stumbled onto your channel and cannot get enough of your knowledge! Thank you immensely for sharing. This is exactly what I need. I've been making my own skin cream for a few years already,, but I'm inspired by your creativity and some of the comments on here.
Blessings to all❤
Heidi thank you so much for being so gracious as to share your precious recipes. I shall definitely make this.
I do not have any issue with mine being grainy. It has been very smooth, I love it and so do my customers
So glad those are working well for you!
Thank you Dawn!
@@richardschmidt2430 nice honest review. Heidi is such a treat o watch
Noises you think won't be noticeable end up sounding really loud in the video and vice versa, it is always guess work when you have background noises and pretty difficult to never have some kind of interruption when shooting videos from your own home - we may not have little ones around here but we do have a dog (sometimes two) and 10 chickens! haha
Hi Heidi, God is good all the time. Hallelujah. Amen.❤❤❤
FINALLY someone intelligent enough to speak in plain English
Can I buy this from you ? Where at ? Thank you , I am also interested in other products if you make them ? Like your toothpaste?
I did not know that about sunscreen. Thank you! I found you a few days ago and I immediately subscribed to your channel. I look forward to making my skin cream and shampoos. Blessings to you.
Welcome here Bina! Hope you enjoy and find the content helpful and fun :)
Grapefruit is an exception among the citrus oils. It doesn’t react with the sun.
Yes and while I do not prefer to add castor oil to my blend, I do use in conjunction with the skin cream, usually in the evenings as described in this video: th-cam.com/video/wfBOPlzSujE/w-d-xo.html
And also in my castor oil series: th-cam.com/play/PLzVtTPDzFPKG77txPFzVfpyvOfMuo_7wk.html
Just great
Thank you Heidi. that was fun. Just made a batch. Feel like a scientist now. for today the fused oil was only olive oil. 😊😊
Great video, new subscriber here. Love how you mentioned that citrus oils can impact sensitive skin. I've got sensitive skin and I can never tolerate citrus oils and strong antiseptic oils like rosemary and teatree. Looking forward to your videos.
I love your videos I’ve been binge watching because I made my own infused oils and body butters
Thank you so much for your recipe Homemade Natural Skin Cream, I would love to do it if I complete items to make it 😀👌👍🙏
Thanks for sharing your recipe, that's generous.
I recently ordered some of this and I'm loving it!!! Highly recommend.
Love this Heidi, will try this for sure. I have the butter, wax, on the hunt for geranium. Thank you.
Absolutely loving your videos! It was interesting to hear about how citrus oils should be avoided if you have sensitive skin, good info!

Yep, I most often use t hem for fires: th-cam.com/video/eVUCY8iXfqk/w-d-xo.html
I loveeee plant therapy!! They have them on amazon for cheaper but I love the calming the child !
Yes! Yes! Yes! I've been thinking about you doing a new skin cream video. You must be able to read my mind. Thank you so much, Hiedi! Blessing
Haha! Cool! :D
I'm watching again and wondering if this would fluff up if I whipped it. You have more experience, so I'd love your thoughts before I try.
@@RainCountryHomestead Always !
Like the sandpaper idea. I’m going to order the ingredients to make for myself and for gifts. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for posting this, I'll haft to check it out!!👍✌💙
Thanks, Heidi for the tip on citrus and sunburning.
I could not remember if I had said that before but thought it was important info :)
It's funny how crunchy they really sound !! I actually went and found those black infinity jars you had shown at one time, to put my skin creme in..
Hi Heidi,
Hello from hamilton, Canada.
Yes, you can do that but you can also just buy the herb or herbs of choice in bulk form. That would be cheaper in the long run
DoTERRA is therapeutic and smells divine. My favorite so far. It goes through extra testing and some of it you can eat/drink.
They turn out great
You look fabulous sister! 🙏♥️🇨🇦
I put my infused oil in a pump bottle and I use it to wash my face with it. Awesome
Thank you for sharing. Used your basic recipe for pain salve (different oils and EO's).
Turned out great.
Oily dry, normal I would highly suggest adding cacay oil. Exfoliation is so good for every age and this is a great oil!
I add the spent herbs to soap batches at trace
You are so smart! And industrious! I don’t like the smell of Shea butter, either! I never use products with Shea butter!
I don’t like the smell of shea butter but I will try this with mango butter. Frankincense and ylang sounds awesome. I use doTerra oils.
Your skin looks great!....and Thank you for sharing your recipes.
I make my lotion with shea butter and oil and it’s good for a while but you give me more ideas thank you
I'm wanting to get a scale.
Make sure to click on the word "...more" and scroll down until you find it
ah the left over oiled flowers would be great for tea cookies!
Maybe to add a bit of color, nothing more

It’s nice to know others use sand paper on their feet to get rid of rough spots lol
How did you make the magnesium cream please

Glad this is helpful and thank you!
Great video! Thanks Heidi! Now I need to make salve😊 My infused oils are ready to use. ❤
Ugh
Really enjoyed learning about this cream . Thanks
When I get burns, I use the aloe straight from one of my plants then later follow up with the my healing cream, which is a bit different than the one in the video above:
th-cam.com/video/SVVViB57OS8/w-d-xo.html
No Exemptions! Ain't that the truth! haha
@@KeyClavis Thank You so much! Its great logic too. I really appreciate the info😉
