And drone manufacturers will then produce stuff (probably all ready have) to meet the new requirements/laws. the drone market is worth millions around the world at £750 a unit do you think they would just stop production all together.@@stetomlinson3146
His point was clearly less about his importance and more about DJ committing an offence, and flying his drone unsafely. That is clear to see. DJ was in the wrong, there is no disputing it. This channel is about promoting safe and legal drone flights. That flight was unsafe and unlawful. Taking off from a wooded area is obviously a bad idea. The drone code is very clear about having visual line of sight, DJ did not have it.
For a police officer working within a drone unit you would think he would know it is an offence, distracting a pilot. When this was mentioned, he didn't want a bar of it and completely ignored this fundamental safety regulation. But that's what happens when you think you know it all.
Yeah surely the correct thing would be “morning sir, can you land the drone for me please so we can have a chat?” And then step back and leave you alone until it’s landed
The only reason he pulled up was because he thought he'd play "I've got bigger and better toys than you" you could almost see the delight He got from telling you you could have your equipment taken off you. What a waste of public spend to have this dolt play out an ego trip. Condescending in manner. He probably played it out later in some 007 style dream. We need rid of this style of mis-policing.
The second officer was correct - visual line of sight must be maintained + orientation/ direction of drone. He suspected that the pilot was not following rules and stopped to investigate . He was was polite and imparted useful information/education on drone rules and also police drones. It certainly isnt a waste of time for him to stop and investigate this . His job is to fly drones for emergency assistance - accidents etc and Im sure if there was a shout he would have left to respond . In the sameway air ambulance pilots, firefighters have a lot of time waiting for a shout/incidents and if they use this time to educate then all good.
He CANNOT say what you could or could not see while he was driving up to you. He CANNOT distract you and then tell you that you have not got line of sight. As soon as he distracts you HE has committed an offence.
The PC had no idea where the drone was, so his opinion on VLOS was formed without any evidence. Then he said DJE had no VLOS as he saw him looking at his screen. He lost the argument right there. 🤦♂️ It’s hard to believe he does this professionally.
I believe DJ did the right thing here by an engaging with the knob, as he’s confident in what he knows & he also knew the cop didn’t have a leg to stand on & engaging with copper this brought the whole situation down a notch. If he’d have gone down the “no comment” path, he’d have no drone now & possibly no matter how dodgy, a charge behind him!
All he wanted was his Details, he was sent down by the big knob in charge. Yeah yeah there's the museum you can send up your drone ( I have no problem with that ) down at the bottom where you came in . Knowing that he didn't want it flying over at all but legally couldn't stop it . So got his partner in crime to go down and make up a reason to stop him . Ask soon as he got out of that crap of a car he wanted to know if he had line of sight . Now legally that drone was up vertical DJ hasn't had time to fly it because he turned up . From where it was he had a clear view of its position. Also that cop who was so concerned about safety, insisted on talking to a drone pilot while in charge of an aircraft. That in itself is a BREACH OF C.A.A regulations. That cop like they do so many time ", fitted DJ up " took down his personal details under a lie and threats of his equipment being Confiscated. I would seek legal advice on this outrageous act by Thames corrupt police in action.
He had a patronising manor initially but gave this guy a lot of time in the end. Actually thought he was very kind showing him his drone and going into so much detail.
The manipulative copper turned all friendly because he'd got the personal details he wanted via the Operator I.D.. It's very naïve to imagine that someone who immediately accuses you of a crime with no proof, threatens to arrest you and seize your drone is actually 'kind' - and we all know now the Inspector Lewis must have called him, so Lewis was also full of fake friendliness. Very very annoying interaction knowing that this guy, who did nothing wrong, now has his name tagged as being in the wrong - no jury, no judge, no proof - just a baseless accusation from that bully boy, and now his drone I.D. is tagged forever. So 'kind'? Not one bit!
He’s on the clock here… just an excuse to waffle on and waste some minutes in the countryside. Tbf the real work of a police office out there on the streets are not something I’d enjoy too much so so maybe I can have a little compassion for him. Just a little.
You came down to his level in the end because you knew in court that it’s him there believe not you. But hey how many times have you got line of sight not many I know.
First copper is a smug, arrogant, troublemaker, determined to create an issue out of nothing. Not fit to wear the uniform, and the bar is already pretty low.
what a complete fool of a policeman. literally looking to find a reason to violate your rights. trying to enforce his power. made himself look like a tyrant
I read once how rich private yacht owners complained about drones peeking at what they were doing on their yachts away from prying eyes. today a policeman is working off his salary by terrorising a defenceless drone pilot instead of fighting crime on the streets of london.
Actually it iS illegal to to fly a drone and look into private places, and that would include privately owned yachts. Company premises are different, a home or somewhere you live or holiday in is different, shows how much you know. You obviously think someone with a drone looking into your home is fine…. Test was made illegal soon after drones with cameras became popular.
Tosser cop. He asked if you made money from the flight, but then didn't bother asking if you had third-party insurance, he just launched straight into "you've committed another offence".
@danielweston8077 Nope. Commercial gain is where you are paid under contract to create content. Legally it's defined as the promotion of a product or service. TH-camrs are all paid for the adverts shown on the channel. Not for the individual videos. That the adverts appear on videos doesn't mean that the advertiser commissioned the video. TH-cam doesn't pay for the individual videos to be made either. A TH-camr can run their content creation as a business or just do it as hobby or sideline. It just depends on how much they make. Even if they are pretty successful and make a lot of money they don't have to set up as a limited company. They just have to pay taxes. Setting up as a company can lower the amount of tax paid.
@danielweston8077 Nope. Privacy complaints doesn't do anything to my point about what commercial gain is. Privacy complaints are put on videos made for commercial gain and personal use ones. There is no difference. What is the difference is that a company can't use the Human Rights Act to get back at the entity making the privacy complaint. A person can use article 10 in their favour. It doesn't matter if the privacy complaint was made by an individual. If they were working at the time, then their employer can be sued.
@danielweston8077 Nope. Channels are only demonetized for breaking TH-cam's terms and conditions. Individual videos can also be demonetized. for Nothing to do with the financial gain. Financial gain is the whole point of TH-cam content creators. If a channel gets lots of privacy complaints then the channel is likely to be suspended or shutdown.
OMG, this copper doesn't have a clue! The law states that the drone has to be within visual line of sight, not that you have to be continually looking at it!!!
9:26 Beware of the copper who approaches in a friendly manner, they turn to slimy gits without fail. What an unpleasant specimen this copper is and I suspect that nobody has anything to do with him in his normal life.
The way he talks to him at that point is downright disrespectful. The copper is not a teacher educating a primary school student. I'm a pretty calm person but I would be put out by that attitude
That policeman is horrific. Fair play to you for keeping your cool. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate you. He made up his mind that he was going to book you
Because he knows damn well that he's in the wrong, Interrupting a pilot and then demands to ask where the drone is, hence he made up his mind, DJE played it cool so he wont be delayed because it's going to take a while until the case cooks and he wouldn't be able to make much videos during that time, hence money wasted compared to the compensation amount, thus DJE played it cool
If the copper was studying you flying your drone as he drove towards you, then he was not in proper control of his vehicle. Driving without due care and attention I believe. Luckily there was no traffic coming towards him. Of course he would brush that off while telling you how clever he really is and that he knows everything and is so superior to you. Truth is he could not tell that you had line of sight, he was plainly just guessing. Love your channel DJE, keep up the good work please!
The new CAA rules require you to have line of sight at all times. How that officer could tell whether you could see it or not is mind boggling to comprehend. He must have the 3rd eye? The ability to have the all seeing eye and see what you see! I’m not sure how he is going to prove this, drone flyer or not.
He said he would use the video to establish if it was in line of sight but how does he know where the operator was standing? I think if this went to court it would be a nighmare to prove. He also said his eyes were down, Im not sure that having it in line of sight means you have to watch it 100% of the time.
@@lastxpwithout aids I believe. Also you’re supposed to know the orientation of the drone without looking at FPV which this auditor admitted he used the FPV for - luckily the officer didn’t pick up on that.
Bro u fucked up with the take off point. School boy error. I didn't like how PC drone spoke to you considering how you spoke with the inspector Lewis in a very amicable way. Happy Christmas 🎉
Thanks for posting this video I have been flying drones for over a year now and watched many videos but yours is the first that ihave seen were someone has had a encounter with a officer from the drone division it has been a education on what to do and not . I found that if you put some luminous strips on your mini 3 pro it really helps with you visually line of sight . Have fun with your new purchase !
@@drazi5201 yeah good point drazi I purchased a kit to cover the hole drone but it took my drone over the 250g so I cut them down quite a lot and still made it under the 250g actually 249.6g so all good and it does make it easier to spot although I think with such a small drone these VLOS rule is hard to achieve sometimes.
@@philiptaylor6911 Good. 0.4g to go is just perfect xD Yes these small ones on a gray day, can be hard to spot if you dont know exaclty where they are.
Clearly the senior officers in part 1 told them about the drone being taken off and they sent officer 6316 to try and stitch you up saying you didnt have line of sight. He came across with a bully attitude and seems like a right knob. They clearly wanted your details and abused there powers to obtain it
Once someone distracts you it is incredibly difficult to point out your drone if its above 50 meters. You can lose it briefly just from scratching your nose never mind an officer questioning you. He has visual line of sight meaning he can locate it if he gave him a moment to spot it. Nothing was obstructing his view. This officer bullied the man by forcing him to answer immediately even after knowing he distracted a drone operator. Very unprofessional and well done for capturing it on camera so he can learn from his mistakes today.
Yes also only the pilot needs to have line of sight, other people don't need to see the drone directly. So even if the officer can't see it, it doesn't mean anything because it's possible that he has worse eyesight than the drone pilot.
"You don't wanna lose it, do you?" "It would really hurt you if I seized it, wouldn't it." That guy is a nasty piece of work. He just can't help himself. I think his favourite part of his job is being every so slightly threatening, knowing that, most of the time, he can have his massive ego stroked. The power it must give him to know another dangerous mini-drone flyer has been "sorted out". I, personally, am not fond of the ability of drones to fly over private property and "snoop", but I'm less fond of the attitude of some plods in these videos.
I couldn't agree more. I generally take a pretty dim view of auditors and their aggro-for-clicks approach to this stuff, but there's no way I'd have put up with that sort of patronising drivel. The guy would - politely and without swearing - been told off, and I'd certainly not engaged him in conversation. And shake the guy's hand... Christ. No.
Yes, this is so true, a few years ago I had trouble with a copper just because he was a lying b`sard, he was sacked not so long ago, it put a smile on my face.
10:53 ‘That will be seized, you will never get it back’ That is a clear admission that he intended to take your property. Keep your property. With the intention to depriving you of your property. That would be a malicious seizure of your property. More than enough for a lawsuit 😉
@@TMA_Droning Perhaps not , but an officer surely cannot be allowed to knowingly distract a flyer with the express purpose of criminalising that same for being distracted whilst flying ? That certainly seemed to be Inspector Lewis’s intention when he sent his toy boy down there .
The minute he showed you 'his' drone, it was simply oneupmanship, he was showing off, it was not policing, it was 'look at how great I am compared to you'.
yes his drone was bigger because it was paid for by the taxpayers along with his time and his uniform the only thing the cop paid for was the defaced union flag
I must admit, when I first started watching this, I thought, oh no, another copper who is power hungry. But he actually ended up being quite a nice guy.
Did the plod(nker) announce he was recording? Also you can't disturb someone flying a drone, have to wait until they land. He looks a right angry little man.
@@MrAndrewFarrow Only of they have REASONABLE GROUNDS that an offence has, is or will be committed. The tyrant did NOT have reasonable grounds. All he had was bluff and bluster that DJE didn't have line of sight to the drone - without any actual objective evidence that that was the case.

Surprised he didn't throw a blanket over you to obscure your line of sight. At least he'd have something to prove you couldn't see the drone in that case...
This nasty, arrogant egomaniac needs sacking and every single conviction that's been secured using evidence from him needs to be tried again. This video demonstrates that he's happy, no, in fact determined, to fabricate offences.
Visual line of sight doesn't mean constant line of sight. The police officer clearly had attertude showing he wasn't policing on policy but his own emotions. And he was the one who committed the offence. He needs his drone licence and training revised. Please take further action.
visual line of sight does mean constant line of sight, you need to keep it within full sight, so the pilot can control the full flight path unaided, also by the pilot not knowing which way round the drone was facing (by looking at his screen and yawing the drone shows that he didnt know this), Users just look at the screen with no idea of where the drone actually is what is exept if you are using the floow me more on some drones or FPV in controlled sterile settings

I do remember when Police were Respected, they were better days than now. As Kids we were taught 'The Police are your Friends. And They Were. He is 100% only trying to scare you with his ‘authority’, you have done nothing wrong. This cop does not truly understand what VLOS is, you don’t have to KEEP looking at it!! Plus you MUST challenge him as a “drone expert” that HE distracted you as a pilot whilst you were in control of a drone in flight.
According to Geeksvania (a drone channel) the police have been making a lot of arrests/seizures of drones just recently, particularly about the use of 3rd party apps to extend flight distance etc.
Ive been watching a lot of USA vids of people impersonating a police officer and getting caught. He reminded me a bit of one of them. lol. They call some of it 'Stolen Valor' over there. Actually, only joking. He is genuine. A bit full of himself though. The ticking off. The way he said that he knows you were out of line of sight. He is probably right, as most users are out of sight at some point, but him stopping you was a bit suspect. To be fair, after the initial bit, he did seem ok though. Or nearly ok. or at least not a right bstrd. lol
The cop has no way of substantiating his claim that DJE did not have a line of sight and he knows it. What a twat of a police officer. He is just trying to assert his perceived and nonexistent authority over a drone pilot. The fact that he interrupted a drone pilot while the drone was in the air is an offence.
Recklessly interrupting is an offence, interrupting isn't. No court (nor the CPS) would consider a copper checking on someone like that as reckless or negligent.
I don't think the cop was being unreasonable, just a reminder of the regulations and useful info to save future problems, Unlike other cops you have come across he knows his stuff
Future problems like what? The end of life as we know it? The Big Bang 2? All because there was a branch in between him and the drone? What's next? Execute kids on roller skates to prevent them from stealing nuke secrets and and sell them to Russia?
That cop was clearly struggling from the start. He couldn't even recall back a few seconds, then admitted he struggles to understand what line of sight is. He thought that looking at the screen meant he'd lost line of sight. The cop broke the law by distracting a drone pilot. There was no reason for the cop to get the drone landed and that could cost them in court if DJE wanted to press them.
@@godsgod1677 no it’s not if you have a link I’m happy to be proven wrong but I’ve done the test and was never asked anything like that, it’s up to the pilot to put the drone in a safe place or to land before engaging otherwise you could be flying in a NFZ and the police wouldn’t be able to stop you until you land 🤦♂️
@@TMA_Droning TH-cam might not accept links so type "CAA" or "drone services survey" and query "is it illegal to interrupt a drone operator", or type it into the Google search bar. Did you mange to find it out from that information?
This sounds like a complete stitch up all because of the new CAA regulations. This officer has already committed an offence by distracting a drone pilot from focusing on his drone. Over zealous officer trying to be smart.
@@ef7480They change them every couple of weeks now! The 'consultation' is a stitch up, they already know all the regs they're going to make tighter. They just have to 'go through the motions' of consulting us, like they even listen lol the response just gets ignored and deleted.
As with other 'auditors' who fly drones you seem to ignore the wording of the ANO216. "240. A person must not recklessly or negligently act in a manner likely to endanger an aircraft, or any person in an aircraft. & 241. A person must not recklessly or negligently cause or permit an aircraft to endanger any person or property". A police officer walking up to a drone pilot and asking them what they are doing is not 'reckless' or 'negligent', therefore they have not comitted and offence as these auditors continually spout out.
It is essential to maintain visual line of sight of your drone at all times. We can't afford any more deaths from the recreational use of sub250g multirotor drones beyond visual line of sight. There's just not enough room to bury the bodies! The words of Harry Day spring to mind.
All I would say having gone through the CAA test, is that the rules state if you are flying FPV which you are by looking at the screen then you need a spotter with you, so always have a second person with you to keep an eye on it, then it cannot be argued that you are not flying line of sight.
Line of sight doesn’t mean you have to be watching it. Two object can be line of site without an observer being present ! The cop was implying you had to know where it was at all times and that he was an expert. He came across as a lying, vindictive, idiot that was upset that someone else had a drone, he was out to get him.
I don't understand why some officers try SO hard to attempt to punish individuals. How does this officer benefit from seeking confrontation where it's clearly not a violent incident and completely unnecessary and a waste of ressources
he benefits as he flys the same drone personally and what he described about how the CAA tightening the screw on what you can do with a drone. It started off with idiots flying their drones around airplanes landing/taking off at airports which caused the initial major crackdown, and he rightly says that if people are not following the rules as they are now they will only get tightened further making it more difficult for anyone to fly recreationally. If people are disregarding the rules with these
He benefits by the inspector who sent him down to prevent the drone flying is his pal now and will do him a favour in the future and 'look after him' ?
The saving grace here is that you allowed him to apply his bollocking by politely responding and he gradually backed off and gave you some leeway. Saved you a lot of headache that did.
This officer just wants to assert his authority and is blatantly lying to identify you and make you yeild ... This is the definition of a PIG and I mean that in the nicest way possible.
I will be complaining to that force about that constables actions. I will insist that he is charged with distracting a pilot in charge of an aircraft, it cuts both ways.

This may be national buy I've seen this with the pigs in Sussex.
@user-sz6nb1vk6q If he wanted to engage he did it wrong by constantly saying yes and admitting guilt on camera even if he didn't mean it.
All he wanted was his Details, he was sent down by the big knob in charge.
Yeah yeah there's the museum you can send up your drone ( I have no problem with that ) down at the bottom where you came in .

Now legally that drone was up vertical DJ hasn't had time to fly it because he turned up .
From where it was he had a clear view of its position.
Also that cop who was so concerned about safety, insisted on talking to a drone pilot while in charge of an aircraft.

DJE does't make money from the flight. He makes money from his TH-cam channel.
All Do-nuts are tossers, not just this one.

He was really nice, wtf you on about. HE was cool, DJE was just an idiot.
That dirty copper knowingly interrupted a pilot mid flight.
If the copper was studying you flying your drone as he drove towards you, then he was not in proper control of his vehicle. Driving without due care and attention I believe.
The officer commited an offence by interfering with a pilot during flight.
CONSTABLE, not officer
Once someone distracts you it is incredibly difficult to point out your drone if its above 50 meters. You can lose it briefly just from scratching your nose never mind an officer questioning you. He has visual line of sight meaning he can locate it if he gave him a moment to spot it. Nothing was obstructing his view. This officer bullied the man by forcing him to answer immediately even after knowing he distracted a drone operator. Very unprofessional and well done for capturing it on camera so he can learn from his mistakes today.
Fair assessment.
Two object can be line of site without an observer being present ! unless they turn up first and see a nice watch lying on the floor@@LEERILEY33
Too busy with an auditor breaking no laws.@@Charly6510
Driving 600yrds down a tree lined meandering road he could see that someone standing could not see .....
😮😮😮😮
So as he approached you in his car were his eyes on the road, on you or on the drone (which he clearly couldn't see [Specsavers?] )? Or on all three?
whoever sent that copper really shat on their own shoes with that decision.
I will be complaining to that force about that constables actions.
I will insist that he is charged with distracting a pilot in charge of an aircraft, it cuts both ways.
This is all about retaliation, he had been sent by the inspector who was butt hurt.
The police in the UK are losing all respect of the public and this is why.
Jesus there is no law that state you can’t engage with a drone pilot ffs 🤦♂️
@@TMA_Droningyou cannot distract any pilot of any aircraft, are you so ill informed?
@@MrRoyum there’s no law in the drone code or CAA please post it if there is but oddly no one has managed to yet I wonder why 🤷♂️
@@MrRoyum you found it yet? Of course you haven’t lol if there was a law that states you can’t engage with a drone operator then it would need to be somwhere where the whole population including those that don’t fly drones could read 🤦♂️
I'm putting in a complaint to CAA. The cop knows it's an offence to deliberately distract a drone pilot. He was sent by another piggy to abuse DJE for details after he declined.
@@nicotoscani1707 So 5 complaints?
There’s no law that states you can’t engage with drone pilots while flying, don’t know where you are all getting that false information from as it’s certainly not on the CAA website
@@nicotoscani1707 it’s up to the pilot to say hold on I’ll just put it in a safe place or land then I’ll engage with you, but he’s well within his rights to come up to him, if the pilot just turns around and then can’t find his drone then that’s on the pilot
@@TMA_Droning The piggy said it had to be in line of sight. It wasn't because the piggy distracted him. It isn't wise to distract any machine operator for reasons that are likely as obvious to you as they are to us. If you distract, for example, a bus driver & the result is an RTC, is it the driver's fault you' distracted him or yours? Who would be at fault if the piggy distracted him & as a result, the drone crashes & damages property? The pilot who was in control until the idiot distracted him or the idiot piggy?
@@thefoxhat6163 it would be the pilot at fault, all he had to do was say I’ll engage with you once the drones in a safe position or landed, it would also be the drivers fault for allowing himself to be distracted
I do agree that it’s a stretch to say it’s out of vlos and implying you have to look at it tho but knowing he was doing a police station maybe keep it in your sights to avoid this, he also committed another offence after by going into a field to fly, I’m assuming that field is private property so he would have needed the owner’s permission to take off from there
Enjoying your videos but how do you get voice on the drone footage?
Wonder how many drug deals and robberies were going on while this cop wasted an hour here , waste of police time , what was the risk tbh , pathetic.
Yep he’s just making up crap ,typical lying cop
That was absolutely ridiculous. How do these people get jobs of authority acting like a complete muppet
Sorry to bother you but what's a good drone to start with around £150 ish ? Thanks
“Drone unit” - what a joke.
Any excuse to play with toys and avoid criminals.
Stroke his ego and let him go.
He looked really disappointed when he realised that you had not fitted heavier batteries to make it overweight. After he asked you about the insurance I felt sure he was going to ask if it was taxed and MOTed 🤣🤣🤣
Taxed & mot'd ikr!😁
You don't need insurance to be a commercial operator.
Typical PiG. No crime so he created one!!!
You have to have visual line of sight YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE IT TO CONTROL THE CRAFT.
What an awful person. He was told to put his doughnut down and go intimidate someone flying over their area. He really has destroyed my trust in the Police. No wonder - another Thin Blue Liner.
That cop is exactly the reason people hate the police. Aggressive, unprofessional, rude, and a bully!
Police like him put other police officers safety at risk!
