Ripple counter is also called asynchronous counter. In this clock pulses for each flip flop is different. Input clock pulse is applied to only first flip flop.
A n-bit ripple counter can count up to 2n states. It is also known as MOD n counter. It is known as ripple counter because of the way the clock pulse ripples its way through the flip-flops

Thank you mam for making this video.
Thanku for watching
Mam can you explain in video about asynchronous mod8 down counter using jk flip flop.
th-cam.com/video/yZkozx-g_Ho/w-d-xo.html
Refer above video all will be same only use JK FF in place of T
@@TechnoTutorials2783 tq mam 👍
why didnt u use nand gate???
when should we use nand gate???
In this case max count value is 7 and by using 3 binary digit we can represent 0 to 7
If 3 bit counter will count less than 7 like 4 or 5 then we will use nand
Thank you Mam
My pleasure dear
Thank you maam
Good luck for exam
Mam mod 6,7,8 asynchronous counter will same
Yes for 6 and 7
Only input for nand gate will be different
In case of mod 8 nand gate not required only 3 flip flop
@@TechnoTutorials2783 can u please tell the reason for mod 8 asynchronous counter why don't we use nand gate?
@@Vaibhavshot because for mod 8 only 3 flip flop required
Mod 8 will count 0 to 7
By 3 flip flop max value is 111
Hence nand gate not required
8 =1000
If u rbusing 4 ff for mod 8 then nand required
But we caount using 3 ff
@@TechnoTutorials2783 ok ma'am thanks 😊
