Thanks for posting this I just reserved a spot for Labor Day weekend. This is my first time camping and I’m having some anxiety about it. Looks like our spot is Loop C number 10 it’s a nice shady area kind of hidden…super stocked!
These Vallecito campgrounds look so crowded with zero privacy. Thanks for doing this as now I know this would not be my choice as a camp destination. Keep up the good work!!!
It could be that we visited on Labor Day Weekend. The campgrounds closest to the lake were so packed with cars. This last one wasn’t quite as bad. We have some less crowded ones coming up in a couple of weeks.
There are a couple of private resorts nearby with dump stations that should have water. I don't recall if the spigots at Vallecito Campground had a hose connection or were just for filling containers.
The best place is the Ranger District offices. Nearest one for this campground is in Bayfield. MVUM (Motor vehicle use maps) can also be found online from some of the USFS websites.
What an awesome thing that you are doing, very grateful to you. However what I would really like to know, (because I normally never camp at campgrounds) is do you know any place in the vicinity of lemon or vallecito reservoir that you can camp on a Forest road next to a creek off grid? Forest road 2274? (Middle mountain road) Sierra Verde drive along Miller Creek near lemon reservoir? Ect.
I don't remember any dispersed camping near Lemon Reservoir. There were some on the forest roads near Vallecito, but I don't recall specifically where they were.
Here are a couple of campgrounds that need a high clearance vehicle: North Fork Reservoir: th-cam.com/video/gABbpuJwhws/w-d-xo.html Mirror Lake Campground: th-cam.com/video/nAjtlIJydDg/w-d-xo.html A couple of dispersed campsites: Dispersed camping along the Taylor River: th-cam.com/video/zf0RjeYXklQ/w-d-xo.html Dispersed camping near O'Haver Lake: th-cam.com/video/axflHmwkjL0/w-d-xo.html
I believe it is called the golden age pass available only for seniors. Unfortunately for us youngsters, the national park pass doesn't get a discount at USFS Campgrounds.
Thanks for the video. Will be very helpful for upcoming camping trip.
Just booked B3. Thanks for the windshield tour!
Glad to help

Awesome! Pretty sure we recorded this on Labor Day Weekend in 2020, so it will be busy. Still a great one for your first time. Enjoy!
Good job 👏
Thanks!

Is it have signal there or don't have signal ?
We had signal there with Verizon and AT&T
Do you know if they have RV water fill facility or is it just the spigots for filling 5 water jugs?

Would love to see you do a series on dispersed camp sites and also campgrounds that require 4-wheel to access (in CO)

I'll check it out!
Just to let you know, it is half price with certain NP passes. This is true of most National forest campgrounds.

@@CampgroundRecon NOt just Golden Age Pass, my husband is retired military and has a card that gives 50% discount also.
@@RobinT-treehugger Nice! I didn’t realize they had one for retired military. That’s great!
