I remember in the 70's showing my folks the "polaroids" of my trips throughout Europe while in the Navy. I would have loved to have had a camcorder like what you guys have and drones to show where I have been. Experiences like this are great, but sharing them is at least half the fun. We all appreciate it - and we all are jealous. Another invention - thank God for spell check.

We have been to Ouray, Co. a couple of times and I agree it's beautiful country. We have never seen the Ouray Water Fights but here is a little piece of information I got online in case you are interested: We are proud to turn our town over to the local volunteer firefighters to host a marquee event on the western slope of Colorado; the Ouray Water Fights. Each year the crowd gathers on Main Street prepared for soaking and watching an epic battle of pride. I have a friend that saw it and said they had a great time. Keep up the good work and I'm glad y'all are having a good time but I think it's time you got back home and started cutting and building things. (LOL).I had to put in the LOL, like the youngsters do, so you wouldn't think I was serious.

Mike, I like the videos when Melissa is involved, she has such an infectious smile. LOOK LOOK, LOOK
I want to give you a heads up about your truck engine. Many of the diesel engines use a CP4 high pressure fuel injection pump. When they go bad it will destroy the engine.
There is an aftermarket fix for it, or S & S diesel makes a complete pump. It's something you should look into because when it goes it could cost $15,000.00 to fix.
Pittsburg Power in Saxonville would be a good source.

Glad you both had a great time out west. CO. is my favorite place. Horizon is definitely worth watching. Lonesome Dove is also my favorite all-time movie. My parents took us on the Durango, Silverton train ride when I was about 16 I’m 63 now it was a great time then. Parents had a log cabin shell built in Buena Vista in 83 by Don Winslow and now left to us kids.

I love watching your experiences in the mountains Ouray is the natural Hot Springs are swimming pools all the hotels have open Hot Springs that you could sit in you should’ve spent a night there it’s unbelievable that town closes for the winter. They get up to 400 inches of snow and over 6 to 800 on top of the mountains about a dozen people stay in the town to watch the buildings, but it completely closes all winter

What beautiful videos… I’ve never made it out west. I love me a good western also. I’ve never seen “Horizon” the western with Kevin Costner yet.
25 years ago my next door neighbors, Costners here in western NC …had a local family reunion. To everyone’s surprise, Kevin Costner walked into the church fellowship hall.
Kevin…somehow knew about the reunion, and nobody had any idea about him. He was part of the family located here in NC. Needless to say, it made all the local newspapers, that he was here in the small country town.
Had to throw that in. I’ve always been a fan of his, and it blew everyone away here in Cleveland county, A big farming area since the pioneer days.

Wow, that was an awesome video; I watch you'll show every day. I was a born and raised in that area (Cortez). out 20 miles North at Pleasant View, on a Pinto bean & wheat farm, Left for greener pastures back in 1964, I was 18 yrs old. moved back there before my Dad died in the 80's., a couple years after his death, we moved to Arizona, been here since., we try to go back up there every Summer for several months in our RV., just too cold there to spend the Winters, been back many times,. still have lots of relatives there in that country. What made it so interesting to me, that I knew exactly where you'll were all the time, ever when you were over Hunting in Utah. been in all of those places many times. Durango used to be an Awsome little sleepy Town, mostly a Ranch & town, it's sad to hear about all the homeless and the drugs there in Durango. Enjoy your Family's Video's, thanks for sharing Your Hunting trip. Have a Safe trip back home. May God Bless the U.S. A.

We LOVE our motorcycle trips to Colorado. I went out there by myself to celebrate kicking colon cancer a few years ago on a new bike. I decided to go the southern end of Trail Ridge Road through RMNP. Riding from Fraser into Tabernash the trees ended about 15 foot from the road. A moose walked out of the woods, stood there at the edge of the road until traffic stopped, and walked across and into a field. Beautiful. Second moose I've seen in the wild and that road, unreal. I'm amazed I survive every time I'm out there. My first trip out back in the 80s I was like a country boy in New York City, lol. I'd be riding down the interstate with my neck craned back watching lightning flashing thousands of feet above me on the peaks. Glad you got an elk, glad you had a good time, and happy to see you home. Love ya guys!

I liked your comment about no guard rails on the road from Durango to Silverton. Your comment reminded me of my trip over 35 years ago. There was a sign on the highway just outside of Silverton that pays tribute to the number of snowplow drivers who have lost their lives keeping the road between Durango and Silverton open in the winter.

Sounds like a Great Trip. Over the last two years we have gone out there from our home in the Adirondack Mountains of NY. That place is so different than home. We loved Mesa Verde, Durango and South Western Colorado. We also spent a lot of time in Utah. The ultimate driving experience was on the Million Dollar Highway! Some people might get squeamish along the hairpin turns with no guard rails and hundreds of foot drop-offs but we LOVED IT. The sheer rock cliffs are amazing. The Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP was a wonderful place. Many people do not know about this National Park. We were there in mid May with temperatures in the 50's. During the afternoon a storm rolled in and the temperature dropped to 32. We left the park with two inches of snow on the ground! It was really cool! Your video brought us back to that wonderful place. Thanks for sharing it with us.

On my one and only elk trip to Colorado during the 2007 rifle season, our group of six had a wonderful time, but none of us came home with an elk. Great memories, though. Ouray has the best hot springs. That's why people are in pools there. Healing mineral waters from the mountain. No sulfer or sulfer smell like Glenwood Springs. My favorite hot springs. The town pool has water coming out at 104 degrees. Too bad you didn't pass through Montrose and stayed on Hwy 50 to Delta, Colorado. Then turn East from Delta on Hwy 133/92. We live in Paonia, Colorado, 30 miles East of Delta. We are surrounded by National forest. We're a mile from the town of Paonia in Delta County. Paonia reminds me of Napa, California. Everyone here has an orchard of fruit trees. There are big Orchards of local fruit. We have 30-40 ourselves on our little 1 acre farm. Then you could have taken the road to Crawford, Colorado and followed it on the North Rim of the Black Canyon to Gunnison. Anyway, we would have loved to meet you both. Glad you enjoyed the trip to the Western Side of Colorado. Denver is on the other side of the Rocky Mountains, and we are not Denver. We are living a sustainable life. We have an Amish cookstove in the kitchen, raise our own beef, chicken, pork, raw A-2/A-2 Jesey milk and fresh free range eggs. We have seasonal organic fruit from our trees and a summer garden of organic vegetables.

Durango ran the last Coal fired train this summer. Running on fuel oil now. Beautiful ride up. Natural hot springs in the town feed the swimming pool in Ouray. We visited Teluride few weeks ago drove majority of the mountains trails. I agree beautiful state to visit and hunt. Have taken several nice bulls and Mule deer or the years. Now get back to work ! 😂

What beautiful scenery, we live in a great country, It's a shame more people either don't want to or possibly can't afford to travel and see it for themselves. Glad you had a great time and congrats on getting an elk, I'm always available for a barbeque lol. Enjoy it and have a great day. Looking forward to the next video.

Mike and Melissa, you have to see Horizon. It is being filmed in 3 parts. The first part, out now, sets the story lines for the next two. You really have to pay attention in this first part to keep the characters, relationships, and storyline straight. This movie was filmed in Utah and Colorado. Several portions of the first and second installments were filmed here in Southern Utah. Kevin Costner has purchased 500 acres a mile from our house in St George to build a new movie studio/sound stage. It was fun to watch them film cattle drives right across from the entrance to St George Airport. Glad you had a nice trip out west - the Durango, Silverton, Black Canyon area is beautiful, although we go in the summer to escape the heat here and avoid the white stuff there!

I had to look at a map to be sure where you were. I didn’t realize how far south Durango was from Montrose. When we were out west around Labor Day, we originally planned to come from Grand Junction down to Montrose and the east through Gunnison etc, and come out of the mountains at the Royal Gorge. But there was some bridge being worked on so we had to go east on I-70 until we cut south at Breckinridge and Hoosier Pass to get to Colorado Springs. Thanks for giving me the photo of Black Canyon. Nice trip, and congrats on the elk.
