Hats off to the camp host for the condition of this campground, it's pristine. Just a bit scared by all the empty sites, hopefully it won't be closed down. Driven by there a million times on my way to Taylor Park, didn't realize it was so nice.
It must have been lucky timing. I think this one gets pretty full
This is WONDERFUL that you two have done this. OMG!!! There is nothing like this, even with the Wildlife Parks and Rec... Thank you SO MUCH for doing this. Absolutely wonderful and a huge blessing. Makes it great to be able to plan. Keep it up!
Thanks for the kind words. Weekly videos will resume soon. Stay tuned
Thanks so much for sharing all of these, being from Indiana it’s great to see this and come out running blind 😊
Exactly why we do this. It sucks to drive 100's (or 1000's) of miles and realize you could have had something better or the site is too small.
Thank you for making great videos that show the size of campsites! Will definitely stay here!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for this video. We used to camp there alot in 1974-75, it was a very active lake back then. Trout fishing was wonderful. Up the creek there was a giant felled tree crossing the creek that gave access to the other side. Also one of the camp sites on the creek literally had you park your vehicle with the front tires in the water (if you had a 2nd vehicle).......When I returned in 2003 it looked totally abandoned, campsites were overgrown, road was in need of grading. I was surprised that this jewel had been allowed to deteriorate so much. You video gives us hope that Cottonwood has come back to life somewhat, as we plan to return soon.
It's a great campground! You will find it better than in 2003. Probably not as good as the '70s since everybody knows about it now.
@@CampgroundRecon In the 70's it was pup tents & maybe a pop-up camper. I suppose now its 5th wheels with satellites & generators.
My personal favorite, 7 years i tent camped there, was worth the 960 mile one way trip :)
Yes it is!
This was an enjoyable review of this campground.
Thanks!
Thanks for this, I'm just starting my Rving adventure and it so nice to see the campground and sites before arriving.
This is a great campground in a great area. Glad we could help out on your adventure
@@CampgroundRecon So with no reservations, you just take your chance on a spot?
@@barbarabuchler3514 Correct. Usually, a campground that does not take reservations isn't as busy. If you can, avoid arriving on a Friday or Saturday. The best sites might be taken especially on the big 3 summer holiday weekends. Showing up on Tuesday thru Thursday is your best chance of getting a great site.
I've shown up and taken what I could get, then moved to a better site a few days later when somebody left.
Sweet vid !
Camped at site #4 in the fall. It was magical with the golden leaves fluttering.
This one and Alvarado Campground by Westcliffe are top of my to do list for fall foliage.
Thank you
I was there 2 weeks ago...busy spot!
It’s a very popular one.
I’ve spent some months in Colorado since I retired in 2015. Besides rhe cold winters, the cost of living keeps me from moving there. But New Mexico is pretty damn nice for now.
Note there is no water available in the campground. Very nice and well maintained courtesy of Kennedy and Linda your host.
Good to know!
And please remember to clean up after yourselves slow down there's families and I'm tired of picking up truck loads of trash after everybody leaves this is my home please keep it clean
It is sad how much trash is being left behind.
Stayed here 30 years ago with my parents and planning to take my kids next summer.
It's a beautiful area
Hi guys! Just found you! Thank you 😊. New subscriber
Awesome! Thanks for joining us on the journey
At 1:42 you ran over a chipmunk!
He got away! I've had a few close calls but they always dodge the tire at the last second.
Is wifi working at the campground? I would like to be able to play my healing music for sleep on my phone. ?
There was no cell service at this campground the last time we were there.
@@CampgroundRecon Thanks.
I don’t see the Amazon link in the description, maybe I’m blind, long day :)
www.amazon.com/shop/campgroundrecon
We had an issue with the link for a while and had removed it from our videos. Thanks for reminding me to add it back.
Ok, I've noticed that in your last few videos you've not signed off with "Have a Blest Day" I missed those .
Thanks for pointing that out. We'll add it to the checklist we are putting together for our spring campground tours.
$22/night......
Is it 1/2 price for Golden Age Pass or America the Beautiful Pass?
Also, is there boondocking along the road in, before this campground?
Boondocking is located a little further past this campground. USFS Campgrounds honor the passes. Should be $11/night if you have one.
