    Imagine in another parallel world where the aikon or the prx is expensive as hell and normal people have to buy the AP as an alternative solution :)) how funny. Anyway, i’m using the aikon and it’s quite good

    • @WatchCataVlog
      @WatchCataVlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, but undoubtedly the AP RO has the best quality, of coz not everyone can afford it, I wear the Aikon every day for work too, it's a very cool for daily use, I only wear the AP in certain occasions only.

      @@WatchCataVlog yes the ap is nicer But I think the external finish to the aikon is very close, it's very far from your average 2000 dollar watch that's for sure. Yes it's no royal Oak but it's a great watch. I have seen both and own the aikon. I compare it to the aquis or a decent Seiko, yes it's not technically that impressive for the price and with the movement it has but the build quality and finish is tiers higher than its price

    Aside from the movement.
    I don't think the quality of the case is worth 30-50x the value, on the Royal Oak.
    The reason for wanting it, for some it's the long history of the Audemars Piguet brand, but for many it's the AP logo.
    Most will not be able to tell the difference between a case made by Tissot if it has the AP logo on it.

    • @WatchCataVlog
      @WatchCataVlog  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi friend, most of the time the cost of the watch is not just about the manufacture cost, it includes brand level, stability of the brand, quality control, after sale support, watch resale value is also a factor to cost a watch.
      I believe that people can really spot the differences when they have a chance to look at them together, the quality of royal oak is stunning, even you look at itfrom bare eyes.

      I would say Royal Oak is still a classic considering its debute in 1972, 50 years ago, and Aikon came much later so it can reference Royal Oak as much as to look cooler, I love the Aikon too, but I hope Aikon can evolve more to develop its own characteristics, providing that ML has the craftsmanship to do nice case design.

  • @conannanoc8768
    @conannanoc8768 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Good video, the differences are very apparent. The OG genta design, and two homages that try to do something different while following the same design idea. The Aikon kills it with its case work and bracelet. Wearing that watch is a constant invitation to do wrist rolls. The 39mm version works as a more dressy alternative, while the 42mm version the sportier one. The prx is... not good enough, at least for me. As a genta homage, that unispired bezel is simply a no no. As it is, it looks like the RO stripped of everything that makes it unique, save for the integrated bracelet.

      I have all three watches with me, since PRX is a new watch that you may not get any discount, while you can get a fairly good discount for Aikon, if I have to choose between the 2, I will definitely go with Aikon. 2- AP (how much does this watch cost? can anybody get it at retail price? also, the WR is quite underwhelming for what´s supposed to be a sports watch).
    3- PRX (i would never get this one. It´s still a homage, but rather bland. The only thing i like is the movement).

      @@12801270able yeah if we also put the price point into consideration, Aikon might be the winner, but if you really just compare the quality, Royal Oak is really unbeatable, how much detail the dial it has, the bracelet and case are just perfectly produced. Anyway, I love both Aikon and Royal Oak.

      @@WatchCataVlog Aye. To me, the Aikon's design looks visually more attractive because its design is more dynamic, bold, angular, masculine, and robust. I love what they did with its bezel and bracelet, and how harmonious those design elements are in concert with each other.
      Hypothetically, if the quality and finishing were finished up to the level of the Royal Oak, and if the design was produced by Genta (since it seems some watch people really care about that), it's possible it would receive more accolade and better status from the wider watch community.
      It's not to say the quality and finishing of the Aikon is bad by any means - it's phenomenal for its MSRP, and is likely much more than good enough to pass the quality-seal-of-approval in many people's eyes; in some cases, great enough in design, finishing, and quality that it makes some people question the value proposition of Genta's Nautilus/Royal Oak, etc.
      For me personally, I'm not someone that buys watches to be perceived a certain way or to feel a certain way (I draw my sense of fulfillment from the work I do) - I buy them because I like their design, quality, and engineering. In the case of the Aikon, it's a much more attractive watch to me than the Royal Oak, in spite of splitting-hairs differences in quality, since the quality of it is more than phenomenal enough.

      @@12801270able No worry, I am with you, I got the RO first, and then I still bought the Aikon, as I wanted to know how great ML can produce the sports steel watch, ML really did the job well, the bezel of Aikon is lovely, unique with own character, build quality is no doubt.
      I just feel a bit pity to Aikon the bracelet is somehow looking too alike RO, which might be a hurdle for some of the people, in my humble opinion, ML got the craft right, but they should apply it for a better bracelet design.
      Anyway, Aikon series is a good seller, good for ML, and I really hope that they can eventually develop their own Aikon DNA. Cheers Bro.

    Utterly lame and almost (almost) pointless video. It the AP hadn’t come out on top it would have been worrying. But the rather superficial comments didn’t do any of these watches justice. I have all three. I wear the Aikon most of all even though the Sellita movement is horrible, Un-modified and inaccurate. The powermatic movement in the PRX is way better. I wear this often as a beater. But it’s really better than that. I bought my AP before the prices went nuts from AD I’m Paris. It’s worth a small fortune now and guess how often I wear it. Daft really as it’s a total classic. Finally though. Get the Aikon. It’s got a few issues such as the anti reflection coating wearing off and that terrible movement. But it comes with leather and rubber bands now abd has 200m water resistance. It’s seriously versatile

      Yeah, thanks for your comment, the objective of this video is just to provide a comparison as many of our viewers asked us to film so, of coz the AP is far the best among three, but in my opinion the Aikon is really doing a great job at that price point, nearly no competition, Tissot, umm, fair at that price point. Anyway, we hope the video can fulfil three different types of audiences, at least they realise how big the gap is, cheers.
