The PRX is nice for the price but the Aikon is a far superior watch in both looks and construction. It's not even close imo.
I bought the ML, in my personal opinion it's far more elegant than Tissot, solid, compact, and very well balanced the brushing and polished combination, it's in another league.
Did you buy the 39mm or 42? 39 looks very small..
@@dominicburrows7317 42mm, and since the watch is thin wears very comfortable , I also bought a rubber strap for daily use and looks well balanced between elegance and sporty vibes.

I have both, the PRX in blue and the Aikon 42 in black and also the PRX chrono in blue and love them all.
I love Tissot, one of my first (and thus most special) pieces was the Tissot T complication. However, the ML Aikon is far superior in almost every way. The design, build quality, form factor, and finish really shine on the ML, which is reflected in the significant price difference.
ML has insane quality(braclet is integrated perfectly while fit and finish is class above prx) insane ar coating,one of the best I ever seen.
This might be the review that swings the decision for me. The PRX looks so good - ‘less is more’ is exactly why it works. Thanks for a great presentation!

I actually own the ML since last December and I think I'm going to sell it sooner than later... I just don't feel a connection and I hardly had it on my wrist for any time at all. The PRX is definitely a watch I have to take a closer look at. I think the "cleaner" design does it for me.

Great review! Imo tho, my preferences swing towards the ML and I’ve recently bought one myself in the 39mm. I think it’s better than the 42mm for me cos it’s more subtle in its sizing. One of the biggest wins for me for ML is it’s bracelet. I think the finishing and pattern on the ML is far better and looks great.
IMO, the Aikon just looks better. The bracelet is awesome. As far as inspiration is concerned, it doesn't matter to me much. Although, the PRX is much more of a Vacheron 222 copy than the Aikon is Royal Oak copy.

got the prx powermatic 80, just love the simplicity of it and i agree with you. it's has a timeless look to it.
I get your point, but when I picked up the ML chronograph in the store and started inspecting it, I was truly amazed. It felt so luxurious and of top quality. For me, I would not even look at the PRX in the store after seeing the ML. I guess its just personal choice. Nontheless, for people who are not used to luxury (and lets be real 3k for a watch is a luxury for most people), the ML is fascinating!

I feel you should have compared it to the 39mm Aikon to really get a fair comparison. In my opinion the 39 looks more classy and less aggressive.
Great comparison. Personally the MC was well made but the claws where an eyesore to me. Trying to impose a thing of their own past that is just too much, something belonging in the era of the omega constellation nonsense. The PRX is just a winner, because of the balanced, well executed simplicity. Had it since July and hasn’t stopped to amaze me. Since I am a kid of the seventies, this watch is more meaningful to me and will never age. Size wise, especially the dial to case ratio is perfect. Wearing comfort is brilliant. One thing I would want to change is sunburst dial on powermatic, The original T in the Tissot branding back (as per the original) and leave the powermatic 80 off the dial please and have a lighter blue dial on offer and since we are at it, a fitting date wheel color… now that would be the creme de la creme, the kipper’s knickers…..
Aikon wins, I had both on my wrist. Don't let anyone fool You. The bracelet is way better on the Aikon. Nice polished surface.
True. I have handled both. PRX is great everyday watch, very nice. Just wearing it. Blue dial Color on Maurice just pops great. Overall more Maukka (=nickname in finnish) feels just luxurious.

I detect a little bit of recency bias the ML aikon is definitely 3-4 times the watch the prx is…dnt get me wrong i still love the prx the aikon eliminates the need for a prx imo. Since homage gets thrown at these watches they both look very different from the watches there homaging. Even the aikon when you put in next to a ap ro it looks nothing like it
I love that PRX and looks much better and reminds me of a Rolex Oysterquartz somehow .
When I wear my prx it leaves something to be desired. I enjoy it, but it just doesn’t feel complete. Just picked up an Aikon and I’m hoping it scratches that itch I have for a well made and well finished integrated bracelet design sports watch without having to spend more money.
Also the ml does not refernce the royal oak. Its an uodate of an older ml model called the calypso. It just happens to have some genta-esque design similarities but it in no way homages a royal oak. Looks completely different imo.
I feel like if they took out the polished sections on the bezel the Aikon would be greatly improved.

Hi @Uptick, what do you think about the Tudor Royal 41? I know it gets some mixed feelings from the community, but I feel the brand alone gives it quite some edge over the PRX or Aikon
If you love it and don’t buy it as a stopgap for a Datejust then I suppose it’s ok. There are good deal to find on those.

Seems like it’s 50/50 with these two among us watch nerds. The PRX is bigger value for sure but the Aikon is better made in general. I own the PRX and think about upgrading to Aikon. Do you think that the 39mm Aikon would wear more similar to the PRX? I can’t decide between the 42 and 39mm and feel like PRX is already big enough.
I’d stick to the PRX for now. Wear it out and go straight to a Datejust afterwards

Got a pretty good deal on it as well and they just went up in price I noticed. Thanks again for sharing your experience. I am a younger guy and have not owned any high end watches, but the ML looks quite dated with the unnecessary polished marks on the bezel. I am interested in the fluted bezel prx

The Aikon 42mm weights 173gr. Which is heavy for daily use

I just purchased the tissot after having the ML for two years. They really aren’t in the same category. The tissot wears well but in quality of the band and thickness it shows its 1/3 price tag.

I had the ml. Grey and gilt hands version. Sold it and utterly regret it. Such an amazing watch. The tissot is good but is common as muck. A victim of its own success. Its getting dangerouslybinto the relms of omega moonswatch hype. Also the pm80 movement is terrible. Give me the sellita any day. No plastic oarts in the sellita and it can be regulated and maintained with ease. Not to mention the smoother sweep and decoration. Pm80 is a throwaway movement and has greater error potential due to the stretched out power reserve
The ML looks MUCH better, its no contest for me. And I pick a Direnzo DRZ04 before this particular Tissot.

The price of PRX is adequate for what it offers, no screw crown, no screw case back, 10 atm of impermeability, less lavoration of case and bracelet..

i'm in the opposite camp as you! I think the ML look ages better whereas the PRX is too simply and will be outgrown. personally if the PRX wasn't at its current price point, it would be completely overshadowed. I think the PRX has hype right now because of its price. If it were similarly priced as the ML, i don't think people would care. Nonetheless great comparison!
Lol, "if the PRX wasn't at its current price point" thats the point, for THIS price point PRX destroys everything and is MUCH better value than ML. If we compare Oris Aquis similar price point with ML, Oris Aquis on bracelet destroy ML with its original design and build quallity. Everything is about price point buddy, there is not IF... ML is better build cuz its more than DOUBLE the price of this Tissot.
100% with you, ML for the win here and I o1wn both watches, is just a better product and the powermatic 80 has tons of issues…
@Takèr the Oris original design might give it a nod over the ML but to say that the build quality of the Oris "destroys" the ML is laughable and demonstrably false. The finish and build quality of the two brands are very comparable.
@@Visitor555 no doubt the price point is the key feature of the prx. But that doesn't make it better than the aikon imo. Prx bracelet looks stale and boring to me. Would swap it to a strap but then it would defeat the purpose of an integrated bracelet sport watch.

Pas d'accord sur le fait que la ML ait mal vieilli, sans doute parceque vous l'avez beaucoup portée. La PRX est une déception au poignet je trouve, trop peu de présence malgré une taille quand même significative. Et le cadran est pas génial, l'effet tapisserie est mieux fait sur ma samurai. Après ça reste du chipotage et affaire de goûts, cela reste 2 excellentes montres.
The finishing on the case of the Tissot is much better on the bracelet. I guess you can’t really make a good bracelet for the money of the Tissot. The Tissot has more power reserve because they slowed it down. Some plastic parts included too. The Tissot is also too large for this design. The reason is usually that they can’t get a smaller movement for the price.
The Tissot is an homage to the Rolex Oysterquartz, which in turn was inspired by the integrated bracelet trend of the time. The design of the Oysterquartz is very different to the AP, no question. That’s why you can’t really compare them.
Two more homages of the AP, but for £12000: The Chopard Alpine Eagle and the Gerard Perregaux Laureato. For that money there are other options.
I went to buy the prx yesterday and didn’t make it for me looks too small for me . And I am actually satisfied with my omega constellation . Maurice Lacroix are underrated it’s a classy provider
If you have a Constellation, I don’t think you need either of these ;-)
Own both and I can say the aikon is a better made watch and much better finished. But it is less comfortable and has a worse movement even though it is modified and well regulated.
I'm honestly staying with the PRX and getting rid of the aikon.

This PRX actually has a slight sunburst effect on the dial. Not as prominent as the quartz but it’s there. Just enough if you ask me.

Grey market you can find the ML for around $1300. Still not cheap but better than $1900!
if I buy an automatic watch for 2000 $ I don’t want that the same model is available a lot cheaper as a quarz. Therefore I would never buy the ML (as new). Another competitor beside PRX is the Tudor Royal, a little bit more expensive but better brand image, no quarz sister and higher second hand prices.
True that, the styling of the Royal is just a bit too old-fashioned, it could have been, and still might turn into, a smash hit... with a little retouching
Earlier I attacked this guy for speaking his opinion.. I apologize, and I deleted the message.. In my opinion the Tissot is a little to plain looking, very soft spoken , and will only tell you the time kinda like a timex watch while the Lacroix speaks out loud, and says "I'm here enjoy me, and admire me......
I have both ML aikon 42 and tissot prx 40. Bracelet on ML wayyyyyyyyy more better. Wayyyyyyy more solid. Wayyyyyy more better made. Brushed and polished on ML look more expensive than prx. But prx is a beater compare to ML. ML wear when go to nice event. PRX on daily.
If have money, get AIKON. If on budget get PRX.
Sometimes people said prx better because cannot afford ML and they dont know much, Tissot is more well known. 🙃

I was torn between the 2. With similarish styling designs. The ML is very much AP royal oak'esque and makes it look as though you bought it because you couldn't afford an AP. The Tissot doesn't make you feel that way. Makes u feel like you've got an iconic 70s design watch modernised whilst still giving that luxury feeling, and not worrying about people saying "oh wow is that a royal oak, oh nox it's a ML." not like that would ever happen in real life unless you circulate in that crowd. The ML would make people second glance it to make sure it wasnt an AP they spied. The Tissot again on the other hand if anyone sees it and if they have an idea about watches (or not) would probably say something nice about it. I wear a no date 2019 black sub almost everyday and it's probably been noticed twice, both undesirables. I have a cheaper Tag Monaco Steve McQueen (cal 12) that is cool and different looking and nobody has actually said anything about it. One of my favs to.

I really don't like the Aikon. It screams "new rich". The Tissot on the other hand looks more expensive than the Aikon, refined and clean.
Aikon looks better, got that expensive look. of course it is more expensive. if you are on budget, I'll say PRXP80.

A comparison that cannot be made. Aikon is also cheap compared to true, unperceived great quality.
Tissot tried it several times but the cheap effect is what penalizes it the most. I find it too expensive.
Here is the quartz version which costs half its fair price.
