Rather than talking about balance I feel like what blizzard is doing shaping up things the way they want so the game doesn't reach a point of staleness like year of the raven. It's clear that their intent is not "equality between classes" but "having always something new" whether that is a new deck popping out while dethroning the best deck or adding new content. I'm really glad blizzard took this proactive position towards the game rather than the passive stance they showed during year of the raven. (If only they did that in Overwatch)
Everyone ignores silence priest. Now with the rogue nerf my aggressive silence priest has a 70% win rate. It’s only weakness being warrior since their health gain is crazy. It runs Leroy, double mindblast with vargoth, and extra arms to buff after silence. It cuts the divine spirit otk because it’s too slow. It feels like the old face hunter decks but better. I’ve gotten from rank 25 to rank 2
It's not rlly a "twinspell" with the buff. "More arms", the card generated by "Extra arms" is still 3 mana. But yes, now is a very powerful card for priest. I think if we will see more of them in ranks.
I disagree with you on the power of the mulchmuncher buff. The problem with the current form of mulchmuncher is that it is a card that requires synergy, and that the deck with this synergy (treant druid) is too weak for constructed play. That deck is incredibly weak, and the mulchmuncher will probaly end up costing 0 if you are using that deck so this buff doesn't push the archetype. But I do see potential for the 9 mana mulchmuncher, not because of it pushing an archetype but rather fitting in to other druid decks. I don't think this card will fit into token druid because by the time they reduce the cost enough to where the want to play an 8/8 rush, they probably have lost the game. So then where does it fit in? I think this card could potentially fill the last 4 deckslots of midrange/control druid decks that need decent cards to complete their deck. By 4 cards I mean 2 copies of this and 2 copies of landscaping. I think it is feasible to say that it is fairly easy to play 1 copy of landscaping by turn 7, and if the treants created by landscaping end up dying (which they likely will), Mulchmuncher (In its current form) would become 8 mana, and an 8 mana 8/8 rush is too weak to use in constructed. However, reducing the cost of Mulchmuncher to 9 mana means that playing Landscaping makes this card cost 7, and a 7 mana 8/8 rush is probably strong enough to see play in constructed. It certainly isn't the most powerful play in the world, but if a deck lacks a decent early game card and a turn 7 play, these 2 cards can fill that gap. Right now, I think this card fits very well into heal druid, this is because unless you are running dreamway guardians and lifeweaver, it has a weak early game, it doesn't have a turn 7, and juicy psychmelon draws this card for you without having to sacrifice drawing lucentbark or the 7 mana gloop sprayer. landscaping is a strong card on it's own, so it doesn't weigh the deck down too much, and if you draw 2 landscapings and curve turn 3 landscaping turn 4 landscaping turn 5 mulchmuncher, you will have a good chance of winning the game because of this. Mulchmuncher is also strong against giants because it can rush in kill them without your opponents being able to duplicate them the next turn. I think heal druid will be pushed to tier 3 with the mulchmuncher and gloop sprayer buff. If the gloop sprayer buff is strong enough to push another druid archetype, I believe Mulchmuncher could fit into that deck. These cards will make ramp druid stronger, especially because a ramp druid deck may run the forests aid, but I don't think ramp druid will be seeing serious play anytime soon. I think the landscaping mulchmuncher combo will see play in heal druid and other midrange and control druid decks to come in future expansions
Also by the way Penniless, you rating Madame Lazul being a "craft it golden" card is correct, despite the fact that she doesn't see much play. I have been experimenting with a midrange/tempo style priest deck because I realized the raw power level of the priest rise of shadows cards like convincing infiltrator, catrina muerte, madame lazul, and EVIL conscriptor. The deck itself wasn't very strong, but if I played madame lazul early in the game my winrate increased by about 15%, which is insane. She is insanely strong but just doesn't see play because priest is bad right now
The biggest thing that has always been making hearthstone feel stale was always that they refused to buff cards that were bad. Here it feels like they may finally start buffing more cards, which will ultimately make things more exciting without having to wait for another expansion to come around and force life back in.
Some of these card that got a buff can realistically be very good, a 3/6 for 4 Mana in of itself is decent, put a good effect on it and you can have a meta changing card. Drawing 2 one attack cards is very impactful for just 1 Mana, as it’s now a good deck thinner but also a high value card to have in hand when running low on minions. The restriction to 1 attack makes it balanced again. Some of these cards never really shined, so buffing those is a good choice to make “lesser powerful” decks a bit more competitive, even if the changes only represent 1,5% more winning
The Prep nerf was not necessary just the nerf for RP, an it is not like the old innervate at all at least that could give you the choice to put a minion on the board not a spell only
I think the prep nerf was unnecessary. To me classic cards should be powerful no matter what meta since they don't get rotated out, if some get sent to hall of fame, that's ok since we can still use in wild.
I feel like the wrong word in capitalized in the title The root of the surprise is not that both nerfs and buffs come out, but that buffs were made at all. Nerfs and BUFFS? (Insert title here) My little random criticism
Priest does not suck as much as you say it does. I hit rank 2 today with resurrect priest. Priest control in general can beat out bomb warrior and rouge if you get a good draw
Does this just make Dr morrigan a better cairne in the right deck? Just basically recruit warrior but it's just Dr morrigan instead. Think of the meme potential
That’s what I’ve been thinking. Zalae briefly had that thought in a video he made with Pathra, but after thinking about it for only a few seconds declared that she still sucks. I asked Regis Killbin if we shouldn’t think of her as being comparable to Cairne and he just said that Cairne’s not that good right now and Morrigan restricts your deck design. But the point is that Cairne frequently comes back to the meta when a deck can exploit him, and the right deck can certainly exploit Morrigan’s deathrattle. Kripp was the only other person I encountered that thought she had potential. But seriously, I think a deck with her, Betrug, Plot Twist, and minions that work well when summoned but not played, or at least aren’t upsetting if you get them for free without a battlecry, has potential, and I think people forget that Warlock has quite a few minions with battlecries that you’d rather not trigger, possibly enough that would not be terrible if you had to play some of them occasionally. I’m not saying it will work, but it annoys me when people dismiss the idea before they’ve had a chance to try it. With the game being 5 years old now, people should know better.
There isn’t a ton of super strong minions warlock wants to cheat out, nor is there much of a way to cheat them out in the first place aside from plot twist+ dorian or betrug (and you probably don’t want morrigan then because she’ll potentially screw your combo/ alternate win con of arch villain rafaam) wild might use her though since there’s ways to reliably cheat out big minions and a slew of big minions to cheat out
All I’ve heard for 4 years is that Priest is weak. . . WTF. . . I just concede to Priest. . Like I have been for around 4 years. . . and about 30 to 40% of the players I face are Priest. . . I guess I should copy a net deck down. . . .? I concede to turn 1 open the way gate. . Too
I am starting to feel... vindicated? I'm not sure that's the word. Apparently my understanding that Rare cards should have +1, Epic +2 and Legendary +4 value is actually already in the game...? I can't say for sure... although it does seem that way. If you look at all the nerfs (except for those abilities that are just impossible to give value to) it's like they are trying to push those cards into that R+1,E+2,L+4 rule. Good Job blizzard. Now next step is to limit rares to 8, epics to 4 and legendaries to 2 per deck and you're done.
bs video. Prep has never been the card that made rogue win the game ffs... the meta now is completly stupid. Mage and hunters everywhere. with over 300 games played the last couple of days hunter had between 30-25 % on my deck tracker and mage with an average of 20%
