Admittedly, I have hindsight, but was it that hard to see that Lackeys were *much* better than cards in the early game, and that a 4/4/3 that discovered a card was pretty good?
@@stevethebarbarian9876 to be fair a fair number of people underestimated just how powerful lackeys would be, its one of those things you kinda have to see in action before you can know for sure, and even with some optimistic with lackeys, most thought cable rat and burglar would be too slow, it just turned out that yes, lackeys are just that good. as for that rogue card, sure its decent, but isnt exactly that powerful by itself
Khadgar was a card that made me laugh when I saw it, because you know what kind of Combo-Board deck Mage has been poking its head into since Witchwood? *_Murlocs._*
Love the new symbols, also, I think your system also helps highlight the best case scenario for some of these cards, such as using Khadgar for a double janali burst being the best use of him as of yet
Same I think khadgar will see play soley because of the janali potential. The other synergies like unexpected results etc. are just icing on the cake that may help push the archetype
I like the new symbols, but i've been working on a diffrent way of evaluating decks, and it gives a place for kadgar. 1) combo decks are control decks -> 2)there should be a tempo control deck -> 3) kadgar increases minion based tempo -> 4) kadgar in hand mage.
I love penniless card rating videos, they're just so much better than any of the other Hearthstone TH-camrs reviews. And gives a way better understanding of the cards Keep up the good work penniless!
I think an agreement can be made that lackeys are worth a card in aggro / tempo decks since most people would put the lackeys in their decks if they can
You know, I've been skeptical of most of your overly complicated attempts at finding some sort of perfect system that would allow you to fit everycard into a neat little box that would make them easy to evaluate. I think they were both too heavy and simplistic, but I actually quite like that wheel thingy you came up with. It's simple, it allows to visualize any card and the positionning of each item on the wheel makes sense. It's a very nice idea ! So, well played, you managed to get the approval of some randomdude on the internet. Isn't that nice ?
I think Blizzard might reveal a couple more cards that Synergize with Mage cards. Yea, they have a lot of weak 6 drops, but I could see them printing one or two mage specific 6 drops to help even that out. Plus there is also the Neutral 6 drops in this expansion we haven't seen yet. Khadgar is also quote strong, and I think with a few more cards, it would be at least one step up the power ladder. I see it being experimented with at least.
My guess is even if there is a strong neutral 6 drop if there is no mage 6drop that is strong it won't be worth it. If you play this you have to build a deck around it and it is just not consistent enough to rely on good neutrals popping up.
If you want the math, Power of Creation has a 78% chance of giving you something better than a vanilla 5/5, and 25% chance of Stegotron, Cairne, or Sunwalker.
@@rawovunlapin8201 Lol, making me count the number of cards again. But wait, by good-card-pool, you mean better than vanilla or top tier? @@SeventhSolar sorry for not being clear and making you do the math again, but yes, I meant the top tier, seeing as they have an immediate impact on the board/face. In a similar vein, I guess spark drill would also be there (totally didn't forget about five seconds after it was shown in the video). Thanks though! :)
I disagree with your lackey value. They're low value cards, but they pack 2 mana worth of value in a 1 mana package, for all of them. I think lackeys are worse then drawing cards in control, but far better in aggro. For that reason, I think you're sleeping on some of them a bit.
*Travelling Healer* : Aka Master Ooglay from Kung Fu Panda. *Wrenchcalibur* : Saw this joke on Reddit- "What do you call a sword that plants bombs? A Claymore." *Dr. Boom's Scheme* : The worst card in the expansion so far, not counting any pack fillers. *Heistbaron Toggwaggle* : Slightly better than Marin, since A. the effect isn't random, and B. It can't be easily countered by your opponent (32/32 Priest chest incoming).
great video. i prefer your reviews to most others, as they are very concise. also that you take us through your rating process and methods is really good, and something a lot of creators have something to learn from
Very good video! I thiink from all the Card Reviews, yours is the most detailed one. We can easily understand why you think cards are awesome or bad since you keep it detailed, but quick and simple to understand. I have been watching you for a while and your videos just got better and better. Keep up the good work, huge fan here. xD
And about the content on the video, I agree with most of the cards ratings. (And, on some of them, you mentioned something I didn't think about so you actually changed my own idea/rating about them.) The only one I still (kind of) disagree is the Hench-Clan Burglar. I'm a bit optimistic about this one. Yeah, the variance is really high, but 4 mana 4/3 that gives you a card is somewhat strong, even better considering it's a battlecry. And since it's a Discover effect, I think it will be rare for you to find 3 options that suck. Also, as you mentioned, sinergy might help this card even more. It's a pirate after all. If an Aggro Pirate Deck appears, you can always pick whatever causes the most damage to the opponent's face, for example. Still, as optimistic as I am eith this card, I can only give it 3 stars (yes, only 1 more than what you gave). But I think it will actually see play, somehow. Maybe I'm wrong, I know, but all Card Reviewers take this risk. :v
I feel like you had a big miss on messenger raven, think about it: Big spell mage and other value oriented mages already run stonehill defender, even though mage has NO class taunts like warlock and warrior. The minion discovered by the raven will most of the time therefore, be of higher quality than what defender will give you, not to mention the fact that it apears we're going to be in a value meta, where a card like this is actually good. Also the stat line is about as good as stonehill defender's.
Given the Artwork I'd like to think Dr. Boom's scheme was "Your Opponent draws a Bomb from their deck" with subsequent turns upgrading the number of cards drawn. If it were the case, It was likely replaced due to it's lack of counterplay.
I love mirror Burgal Rogue matchups. Because there are other ways to get cards from other classes. Like Weaponized Pinata, Face Collector, Lich King, Y'Sera, etc. Just generally fun for 2 people to desperately try to get as much value as possible from a 3 mana 2/2 with shadowstep, shuffles, etc.
I feel like you missed something, or just went half-lazy about power of creation, and didn't actually math it out. More than 50% of the time, you'll be able to summon something that is at least the 7th best 6 drop available to mage post rotation, which is comparable to Sun Walker. And two Sun Walkers for 8 mana sounds pretty good, particularly with the flexibility of picking the 6 drop that suits the situation the best. :)
I feel the warrior bomb synergy would fit perfectly into an odd mill warrior in wild. You get the mech package, most of the bomb synergy cards, and classic mill cards like coldlight, dancing swords, and others. I'm not sure how good it would be, but odd bomb warrior would be fun.
I feel the same way. Let's experiment with the cards, or at least see what the full slate is for possible combination, before judging them and saying people are stupid for wanted to play them.

Minion mage with Khadgar could work in a distant dream. Hopefully someone will at least try it so we know. Seems weak without all the mammoth cards like spiteful summoner and big spell package.
The archetypes in the expansion feel so one dimensional and forced. Summoner Mage? Uhh... I dunno, print a cheap legendary that doubles minions summoned? Heal Druid? Uhh... give Druid a mediocre healing spell... and print a cheap legendary to make it less mediocre? Basic control and agro formula decks are going to shine in this expansion, mark my words
Minion Mage has had roots planted as far back as Witchwood with Book of Specters. That card is one of the best cards Mage currently has, so Blizzard wants to design around it. Stuff like the combo Khadgar and Astromancer from Boomsday really help push Book of Specters. As for Healing Druid, a lot of classes get 2-3 cards that jive well together each expansion. Warlock got the Kobold Librarian, Homunculus, and Amethyst Spellstone package back in KnC for instance. I don't see anything wrong with the Healing Druid card they've shown, especially when they synergize with other Druid themes like Choose One.
What if doctor booms scheme were: Shuffle a bomb into your opponents deck. When draw, it explodes for 1 damage. Upgrades each turn. Would that be good?
Frist. Looks like cool stuff btw. Also for the Dr. Boom’s scheme has it been confirmed if it’s only 1 armor per turn? If it was a little more than it might start to look feasible
No, this card comes from the card reveal stream, so we know it only upgrades once a turn. Would be pretty weird if it upgraded different than the other cards without it mentioning it in the card text, wouldn't it? But, they talk about it in Minute 37, it is confirmed that the upgrading is a "End of turn"-effect, so it is upgraded by Drakkari Enchanter in wild. That means it still takes 6 turns to be somewhat useful while relying on a 5 health minion to stay alive. In short: No, this card is just stupid.
