On the generator, please check the oil it’s oil is low. The engine will not start. I have two of those generators if that’s not the problem check to make sure the vent is OK if that’s not OK the float and the carburetor the needle the jet is probably sticking. On the outboard I’m not trying to seem like I know it all, but I have a lot of experience in diesel jet engines automobile engines all sorts anyways on the outboard. I believe you have a coil problem. Somebody mentioned that before I think you have a coil those coils are covered by resin and and sometimes crack sometimes they crack and moisture gets in there. New spark plugs in the outboard will probably get it running again, but it’ll start quitting because it’s not a hot enough spark and they’re fowling
I’m gonna rush right now. I’m sorry my spelling is probably not correct. If you need any information, I can look up stuff for you. Just let me know. Sorry I’m rushing right now.
You need a four season trail. I bought a bulldozer for $5000 and used it for 6 months clearing a driveway and building site. Then I sold the bulldozer for $5000. Snow machine in winter, quad for 3 seasons.
@@SteveHammer-b3k small excavator (3-4K) would be ideal but no idea if he can build a road?? Agree creating decent access would simplify his life. Even a track that would support atv and a trailer all the way would make a huge difference.

@Jeremy_936 : Ok,so you think it's a great way to live! And this was in the only road to town, versus canoing up a river! Well,it's not bad living the rural life, but,it's a completely different way of life! Summers not bad,but here's the life of cabin boy! I lived ! It's-25 °farenheight and your out of firewood,b water,c no electricity, d you can't drive to town cuz your propane trucks fuel freezes up at -25° farenheight. So,I have to go fetch firewood, run to the well ,as I'm the " running water," and when my welfare chq ran out,so did hydro one day! Then hitch hike to town, hoping some of the seniors would pick me up to fetch groceries and trinkets! And hitch hike home 20 miles with groceries! Life in the stix! Have you sat on a cold toilet seat at -20 first thing in the morning, while the wood stove you JUST STARTED,warms the room up! I've lived it,and every ten minutes for six months, chuck more firewood in the stove, which means you'll be breathing more wood smoke! The beginning of lung problems! Emphazima? But on the bright side, you can have chickens, a pig, and a goat! After a few years all those trees near the cabin are gone, firewood! And now you have more wind...and wind chill, needs more firewood! And one very cold day,it hit minus 42.2! I made it to tge rd,and I had on 2 pairs of gloves, inner glove were work gloves, outer were sheep skin and my fingers started to burn within 3 minutes of leaving the house!
@davidrussell8795 That's wild...did you move back to civilization? I do wonder how many of these off-grid pioneers will stay and for how long. That's part of the excitement of watching them and rooting for them. Also, if they don't return to civilization, maybe they'll build the comforts of civilization around them. I think (hope?) that with modern technology (starlink, phones, solar power, etc) that we can have the best of both worlds, a connection with nature and harmony with our Creator along with some of the comforts of the modern world. I think that's the future for humanity, moving forward in some ways and back in others.
Hey bud. Im a small engine mechanic. You need to remove both the high and low speed jets and clean them thoroughly. The low speed (idle circuit) jet is located below the idle set screw, it is a black plastic jet. You need to remove the idle screw to be able to access it. Use fine wire to clean it out. Flush all galleys with carb/throttle bidy cleaner. And also make sure to completely remove the emulsion tube which atomizes the fuel above the main jet. clean all the holes out of this brass emulsion tube. The idle circuit draws fuel firstly through the main jet so make sure that is also clean. Good luck. Ps. I use a torch to shine through the air passage of the low jet to confirm i have a clear unobstructed flow.
@cabinriveroutdoors Glad I could be of some help. I try to watch all of your videos, And will help where I can. I'm a gold tech for Husqvarna here in NZ. I like your choice of saws. Those older jreds are great.

Don’t worry about the content. Whether the boat works or not or you are building or not, this is my favorite channel and I’ll watch anything!
Cheers from Colorado. I know you feel like you're struggling or maybe on a losing streak, but I think you're killing it. This all looks amazingly desirable coming from a guy working an office job.
Well.. its actually not. It's the opposite, when he gets stuck like now with only problems. Just as, or more frustrating than a boring, but safe and stable job/life. Living of grid is a dream, but allso a living nightmare. You have to be able to see this. It's obvious.
Thanks for all the effort you put into filming your adventure for us. As a 70yr. old pensioner, I really enjoy seeing you working so hard towards your goals. Good luck with everything... I really hope you can get your outboard engine to work, reliably
You are a strong man Shawn carrying those heavy logs. So much work to do and lots of hardship while we love watching you. It's tough living the mountains when you don't have an easy access and enough money. Take care of your self. We need more awesome videos.
This is one of they few channels on TH-cam that i always look forward to any new uploads! Thank you for sharing your journey! I have been following along since the very first video!! You have come so far already!!!
If you have sediment on the carburetor jets then you have sediment in the lines and fuel tank. Pull the fuel tank and clean it replace the lines from the tank to the carb and that may help. Your boat motor may have similar issues. Bad gas in both likely if your source is the same. Your chainsaw has a degree of protection from the oil in the gas. Also any kind of fuel stabilizer can cause sediment to drop out of solution in fuel and collect at the pickup tube.
Damn,i am so rooting for You. You are twice what i wish i was 30 years ago. Dont forget you have years to make it perfect, make it home sweet safe home now.
Howdy from the NWT! Love your content bud, always look forward to your new episodes. One thing I really love is that no matter the hand you're dealt, you step back and plow through it after you've taken some time. I think you're a little hard on yourself at times but you persevere. You're authentic and that's what sets you apart from a lot of other content. Hope freeze up goes as well as it can for you, keep up the great work!
Looking forward to the next episode with a hopefully reliable boat motor again! Mechanic here and if you haven't already heard it a few hundred times the best way to help any engine start reliably is to drain the carb bowl(s) if you're not using it for a few weeks or longer. Ethanol is the worst thing for fuel systems, it attracts moisture which causes all sorts of issues. Can Tire sells a fuel stabilizer made for marine applications - the blue stuff. It helps a lot if you're only using a motor a few times a month or if storing it for months at a time. I recommend it with every fuel up for that boat and it's a very small ratio so a bottle goes a long ways. Cheers!
This had it all, ASMR raindrop and fire, POV walking scary night time jump scare forest, boat drifting and Shawn self care clothes washing... loved it all
It has been mentioned a few times here but i would agree i think you have a water in your fuel issue in generator and boat. Drain your generator tank and then keep it out of the rain after
Yes the problem with trying to live in a remote place like this definitely takes guts. What I see is one problem after another. I’m glad it’s not me because I don’t have the patience for something like this besides being way too old. I’m rooting for you
You have water in the gas of your generator! Sypmtoms you showed correlate perfectly with that. Drain the tank and I bet that will take care of it! Best of wishes! edit: Now that I think of it could be the same with the boat motor too actually. Simple thing to rule out at least.
... Yeah ! ... he is fightin' against his own nature ! .. like .. " One against Nature " ... Voila ! ... of course he is the problem out there ... Yeah ! ... is all his own mistakes ...
Im leaning on dirty carbs ,maybe some water in the fuel. Maybe oil mix is too rich so it fouls the plugs over some time . I hope the mechanic gets it figured out and dialed in for you man !
Great video. Don’t worry so much about getting back to building. We all just like coming along for your journey. You’ve got this and things will come together.
Shawn, your grit, resolve and stuborness to get to get things sorted despite all the struggles you're having is so impressive. The one issue with your stuborness though for all your viewers is your reluctance to set up a way for us to help you out with donations. Please do accept that folks want to help you succeed and help you out to achieve your goals. It's part of being a TH-camr to have something like that as well as a P.O. box so people can send you gifts as well.
pull the carb off and strip it, carb cleaner and compressed air, works wonders and most times makes a huge difference. also, when you use the prop, wedge a piece of timber between the transom mount and motor shaft to trim up the prop. as long as the motor can draw water in for cooling, you're good. you won't be breaking speed records but you won't break the prop. we used to do that in shallow spots in the river over sand banks.
Buy a product called sea foam. Put it in every gas tank u have and all equipment. Don’t measure just pour it in. Best stabilizer you can use. Makes everything run top notch summer and winter.
Yes! Another video! Woot woot! My #1 favorite channel and although being able to see your videos every Thursday was nice - actually not knowing exactly WHEN a new one will post makes your videos even more special!! Hoping you get that motor fixed and the mill soon! We are all rooting for you!!
The old ferries where I live were swinging boats. Rope on each bank, crossed over left to right, right to left and tie off. Take rope of opposite bank, take turn around bow cleat and push off. The current swings you over. Remember to bring rope back on return trip. Condemned climbing rope is cheap.
Awesome content, you are the real deal, and we are your posse. We all want to see you do well. Hang in there. You are inspiring people all over the world.
Haha, love your humour! Well thought out reasons regarding the cable and boat configuration, you have a logical and practical approach to the problems. Good luck with the motor and enjoy the beautiful place you have up there!

Would a chain work? The chain is fixed either side but drops to the river bed. You use your boat and pull the chain over the boat like a ferry. Maybe the metal boat could have some sort of guide (like row locks) just to guide the boat so it always points up river and can’t turn sideways and be rolled. Just an idea.
Is there anyone that could run your materials up river to you? It pains me to see you running out of time and chance the loss of the material you already bought. You seriously need a plan B while waiting for your repair. Great to see the next stages unfolding and see your frustrations with setbacks. Have a great weekend 🇨🇦
Before I retired I was leader for a year-long project in a foreign country. When our team got on on site, we found that the actual conditions were much different than we were led to believe when we bid on the project. Once we found that out, the team agreed that we couldn't stick with the original plan in light of what we'd discovered, and we decided to step back and re-formulate a new plan to get to the outcome that the client wanted. That decision was very difficult in the short run and created a lot of issues with the client when we said we wanted to abandon the original plan, but the decision really paid off in the long run. This is a long-winded story which I share because i think it may have some resemblance to your situation. You started out building on your current site with the best information you had at the then. However, based on watching your videos, your life is absolutely consumed by the difficulty posed by the river. Just as we had to do, you may want to re-think your decision to build on your current side of the river. Deciding to build your homestead on the other side of the river would be a massive pain in the ass in the short run, taking all your work apart, reclaiming as much of your building material as possible, moving it to the other side and starting again. Would it cost you a year's lost time or more (and invariably some money too). But in the long-run, I think you'd find it much better in the long run so you are not plagued by the river forever.
Well said. I like that. I like that you shared your experience in the past.. it would be great to put pen to paper and document that experience. It sounds really interesting to me
Hi, building a crossing of the river is a costly (costly, minimum $50 thousand) hazardous undertaking that may last only until the next flood. I am an angler and have used them all over New Zealand and these are solid structures build by the Parks engineers for public use and are called Flying Foxes! We normally have a cable swing bridges to cross rivers, but even these can be wiped out in a flood. In your case you need cash to get all your materials together and have them moved by helicopter, expensive but cheaper than making a river crossing. The solution for transport on your shallow river is a NZ Hamilton Jet. Look it up, it was designed for fast flowing low level rivers. Good luck mate, you will need it! Harera
Lots of jet boats on the rivers here in BC. In fact, maybe you've heard of Ali-Craft Jet Boats. Originally started in New Zealand, now made here in Prince George, BC. This is the type of boat Shawn was referring to as inboard jet boats in this video. I thought the same thing, he should get a proper jet boat instead of using that outboard with the jet. But currently people are asking a lot for these boats here in BC. Used he would be looking at around 40k. New, more like 80k and up.
@@reallyfastbiker4077Hi, have a look at the original NZ Hamilton boat made by a farmer who needed to get around his farm that was bisected by a shallow river, all home made in his farm workshop using a car engine. We are so use to be thousands of miles from anywhere that the kiwi mentality is called the number 8 wire solution, i.e. use whats available like your fencing wire. This do it yourself attitude sprung from shortage of money with import restrictions. Kids here could get their car licence at sixteen and then cobble together a old vehicle. Not possible these days as you need a doctorate in electronics and computing. Cheers mate. Harera

You need to put a level marker in the river so you don't have to guess if its deep enough or not for the boat, take the guess work out of it in an instant 😉
@@fredz61 he could find a big stone that's been there forever, just a line where the level is too low would do, saves him doing half a video telling us it's too low
keep up the good work. the work is never ending but i guess the old phrase "paying your dues" comes to mind because in a few years when you are all settled in your going to look back and laugh and remember all the hoops you had to do to get there.
Love all aspects of your adventure! And you are doing it in an entertaining way. Thanks so much and good luck this winter. I’ll never complain again about our 5 minute boat ride to our cottage.😂
use the canoe to get across the river - much simpler, easier than any kind of cable trolley - which is not nearly as simple or cheap as some people claim - better to put your time and energy into fixing the trail so you can take ATV to other side of river - then cross with canoe
Oh no! I have to wait another week to find out if you got that motor fixed? What a way to keep us in suspense. :) Seriously, though, stay strong and stay warm. Your determination is an inspiration.
You are a legend, Shaun. Have been watching your videos since the start. Re: propeller powered outboards, in NZ our surf rescue crews have a shroud around the propeller that prevents the propeller from hitting the ground and stalling the motor on IRBs. This could be applied to one of your quests, transport up and down the river. Another low cost thought is to build an anchor pole upstream (on the shingle island/spit) of your crossing point. Then by tying a rope to this and your watercraft, with a suitable rudder (or an electric kayak motor/or bow thruster) you should be able to use the river flow to swing you to the other side. No huge cost, no permits, no danger to helicopters, and (mostly) dry feet etc. As starting and finishing points are fixed, a weir and jetty could be built to eliminate landing issues and seasonal river heights. Google Bixby Kayak for motor-drive. From the land of the Hamilton Jet. Regards Lindsay
I really like your hungry man meals. Shawn , depending on that old outboard, which is not dependable, it cost less with a jet driven 50 hp Honda or Yamaha. You can take the lower unit off and install the jet drive. The Honda has more power than the Yamaha . The two motors I have used in resorts are very dependable. They will go through hell with tourists . Take that motor and mark a reef . Also look for a boat made with aircraft aluminum on the bottom hull ! That boat will take a beating without caving in
Hey Shawn, thank you for the month long video journey that you have provided for us! I've been following the channel for almost 6 months now and your video upload has definitely been my highlight every thursday since! Wanted to thank you for the work you've been putting into the videos and your project in general! It is both impressing and motivating for me. Thanks a lot from Germany, Jari!
Before you pull off the Carbs, try draining them. Might be water in there. Easy job to do with the tools you got there. Make sure you have clean fuel before trying again🤞
Was thinking the same. Especially on the generator. Might have water in the fuel tank. When pulling the bowl look for water droplets. It will be visible most likely. If so you need to drain the entire content of the tank to be safe. I don't know the name of the product in English, but there is a very common additive you can put in the gasoline that will make the water mix with the fuel (to a certain extent). Considering your environment and the use of so many containers etc it should probably be a part of your inventory.
I agree with you. I think he's got some really s**t fuel. If he can't deal with the carb, a small engine carb isn't expensive to rebuild or replace even. I wouldn't risk my life to learn. Learn when it's not critical.
Giving your channel another view & like from South Africa. Hope this makes you feel better, knowing folks globally truly love your channel. You're living the life we all yearn to. Blessings from over the pond 🌍🇿🇦🏠🏔️🌳💯🔥🙏👍
Great video, I know everyone has suggestions , I have a cabin 2km in the wilderness back her in Ontario that is only accessible by atv or snowmobile. Watching you struggle brings back many memories for all the work it took to haul all the material to build and then everything else. With a very independent mind set like you , I built a few trailers for my atv, created different ways to haul very awkward items. You can do it , don't give up! Any thought on building a bridge over that wet spot on the trail to get the atv across? With a small bush trailer you can haul almost anything behind a atv, through a much longer season.
If the mechanic can get that engine running and reliable for you, you'll be in great shape! You're doing a great job Shawn. Things will get better very soon, I have no doubt.
Hey Shawn, have you considered an electric jet motor? This would be much more reliable given all of the gas issues from the weather. You could get a couple lithium batteries to power it and just store them inside when it is freezing out. You could build a hydro generator that gives you power 24/7. I can certainly help you or direct you in building one of considerable power. I can also show you how to have PC on your large TV without the need of laptop for more reliable computer set up.I love what you are doing and I truly want to be as remote as you are and I am off grid now but not as remote and I would love to have a raging river such as what you have. You could also build a rope bridge up high from tree to tree or even bank to bank. You could use a barge as well that you could pull yourself across with a rope and have the rope flown across with a drone when you want to cross with materials, you just pre set it up on each side and ready to use your drone for carrying the rope. I can show you several ways that are relatively inexpensive to do. Would love to help you out there!
@@nicktw8688 What are you referring to? The batteries are around 130.00 for 100 amp/ hour if you care to get the cheaper ones and they perform just as well as the expensive ones. The electric jet motor is way cheaper than a gasoline motor and you can get them also from China that perform very well. The rope bridge is nothing more than two by eights cut into tread lengths and rope woven into them, just a little measuring and math and a drill for holes. The computer set up is cheaper than a laptop and way more reliable and uses AC current as opposed to a battery to wear out. It is a mini PC that you attach to your TV through HDMI cable and get a wireless keyboard and mouse combo for less than twenty bucks, the PC is less than 100.00 and has built in wireless to connect to any internet source. It is impervious to cold and is completely portable to hook into any monitor or TV with HDMI connection. The Hydro generator is not expensive if you build it yourself by sourcing strong neo magnets and magnet wire. Then you simply build the turbine in any fashion that you like to capture the most of the current or head of water source. The generator can be encapsulated in resin and the turbine can actually be made of wood if you cannot source metal or weld. Water wheels have been used for thousands of years made from wood. He could also build a bridge across by making several pillars of stone as the footings for the spans and then attach each span with wood and the planks for walking. He can make this high enough to go under in a boat and to account for high flooding. The stones can be collected from his surroundings and he can make a frame from straight branches to then load the stones into, at each calculated support area. This would only be sweat equity because he can make his own boards with a chain saw mill. He can do this in the seasons of lowest water levels. None of these things would cost more than what he has already spent for his current individual things he has purchased for his infrastructure. He already has a drone that he can set up to carry rope across. He can build a hook and loop the rope at each end and have a staging area designated for easy drop and attach points. Snow and ice could present obstacle so he could build a box to store the rope in at both sides to keep the rope clean and ready. Use a lightweight nylon type that is strong but light and wont absorb water. Could have a light tension retractable reel at both ends or even an electric winch that is remote operated and enclose it in protective shed or box. Have it knotted and looped at each end to hook onto and this loop would be out proud to hook onto. Electric winch is less than 100.00. There are so many ways to use tech to improve any type of living and can be incorporated with his current level of tech and budget.
@@nicktw8688 Also, I would also add...He can make his own fuel as I do. You only need wood chips or chunks. He can build a gasifier that turns wood or any carbon into usable "Wood Wine" or syn gas. You can run this directly into any internal combustion engine (ICE). It does take a little effort to build and set up but it is free fuel and is worth the effort. It does take some effort in running it as well as will need attending to minimally and the effort of making the wood chunks, but again it is free fuel or the cost is only your labor. If living so remotely I feel it is paramount and if you desire to be self reliant then this is indispensable, as it liberates you from any outside needs and this fuel can be stored and used later or can be used on demand. It can be used for replacing propane as well for cooking and even heating. If you take the time to build it well and set it up with some automation you can run your generator full time or to marry it with batteries you can use it to charge your batteries while maintaining the generator while using the batteries. It is endless and totally self reliant. No worries if solar is not keeping up. You would have an endless source of fuel and never need to worry about being without fuel for cooking or heat or power. This gas can run all of his motors including his car. The waste from this process is "bio char" and is highly sought after for fertilizer as it is loaded with highly beneficial components for growing food. He really can be totally self contained out there! He can build his own forge for casting parts from metal sources. He can build green houses for growing food all year long. He has a bounty of wood that is a primary resource for almost all of his needs. He has abundant water for food and power. He truly is in a wealth of self reliant resources. It only takes some mental and physical power to provide everything he needs.
@@nicktw8688 I also noticed that he is using Elon's internet. But I did see an episode of his where he had friends over and they were using their phones for internet due to his issues he had with Starlink. The Starlink is very expensive. I use my phone service for unlimited internet access with no throttling and it is 80mb down load and 25mb up. It is not as fast but you cannot discern the speed advantages doing everything I do. Internet browsing or working and streaming is flawless. I only pay 25.00 a month for unlimited everything and I can tether all of my other devices to my phone with no issue and no added cost. If he can get a cell signal as I saw that he did then he could save quite a bit of money as I'm sure he also is paying for his cell service as well as Starlink. My total bills is only 25.00 a month for my phone and internet and I pay for my insurance and business costs and that is it, well I do buy some things from Walmart from time to time when I venture out and I do pay for gasoline on some things but I do not have to.

Hi Shawn, I asked before about a week ago, but I'll ask again ....... What would that guide guy who lives up or down the river from you with that bigger jet drive boat charge you to ferry all the rest of the loads up to the cabin site? Can you let us know?
Hi Dave. I'm just biding my time until the boat motor gets fixed. Once fixed it will only take a fee days to get everything up there (I hope) The folks with the big Jet boat are guiding and busy with that.
Your motor is only running on one cylinder when it’s not running correctly it’s losing spark on one cylinder intermittently, the power pack is going bad. It is the part that controls spark to the cylinders, it’s not that hard to replace you just have to unhook a bunch of wires from the old one and hook them back up to the new one.
The boat engine issue is very likely a ignition issue. Not the spark plug, but coil pack, or distributor. Could offcourse be injectors. But those can ble cleaned./same with if its a carby. Allso, when using start gas/spray, you need to open the throttle so it gets in to actually detonate from the spark you say you have.
SEAN! I’ve built and I’m still building my off grid cabin in Alberta. Have you thought about using a helicopter to drop loads of materials. I came to the conclusion that my time is worth more than just trying to get something done instead of getting it done ,meaning I’ve had to bite the bullet and spend cash where I was trying to save cash but it put me in a worse situation and nothing was being built. It maybe worth a second look if you’ve already looked into it. Thanks for the video!
Apparently it costs a few thousand dollars an hour.....but it might be worth it. The distance a chopper would need to cover for pick and drop would only take a few minutes. Of course, it's also entertaining watching Shawn doing it the HARD way.

Damn right. I'm too lazy and comfy to do what Shawn is doing but I respect the hell out of it.
You need a four season trail. I bought a bulldozer for $5000 and used it for 6 months clearing a driveway and building site. Then I sold the bulldozer for $5000. Snow machine in winter, quad for 3 seasons.
This. Gonna need a trail to move in the sawmill
@@SteveHammer-b3k small excavator (3-4K) would be ideal but no idea if he can build a road?? Agree creating decent access would simplify his life. Even a track that would support atv and a trailer all the way would make a huge difference.
And maybe an Argo to get down the trail and across the river!
Shawn, you're doing great man..... and if you ever get discouraged, think of all the people working in cubes, staring at computer screens, fighting traffic, and wishing they had your life. You're inspiring people all over the world 🌎.... greetings from Virginia.
Yeah if you can build a road maybe
@Jeremy_936 : Ok,so you think it's a great way to live!
Hey shaun. To me buddy it doesn't matter what content you put out. I'm watching it. Period. Thanks for sharing and many blessings my friend.....
Noted. Printed off. That's awesome. Thank you
@cabinriveroutdoors Glad I could be of some help.
The fact that you have friends that really show you that they care says a lot about who you are. Great guy you are
Cheers from Colorado.
He is killing it!
The struggle is real, the content is amazing 👍💪🙏🏼
Best time of the week is when ever there is a new episode of Cabin River Outdoors. Thanks for sharing! Amazing as usual 🥳🥰🍁

I'm glad you are getting your motor fixed and a sawmill!❤
You definitely left us with plenty to look forward to next episode! Can't wait.
Go Shawn go, hoping you can get the roof complete before snow really flies. Good to hear some of the $$$ issues are clearing up
Every day will get better. Love this series. We need you at 100000 subscribers!
Cheers!
Excellent video man. I really think your attitude is superb.
I'm always amazed at how well you eat!!
This had it all, ASMR raindrop and fire, POV walking scary night time jump scare forest, boat drifting and Shawn self care clothes washing... loved it all
It has been mentioned a few times here but i would agree i think you have a water in your fuel issue in generator and boat. Drain your generator tank and then keep it out of the rain after
I agree! These equipment should be kept out of weather. Even moisture could have done the same thing let alone water getting in.
Yup. Bad gas is likely culprit since he has spark.
Try putting sea foam in all your fuel cans, will help you fix the engine starting and running issues.
Must be the water. It was the wettest fall in many many years apparently
@@andrewm753 could be the filter in the gas tank too. Or even the vent valve not fully open on the fuel tank. 😂😂😂😂 this happens
Simple thing to rule out at least.
... Yeah ! ... simple like that !!! ... Voila ! ...
very uplifting videos - here's a guy totally focused on his mission, fighting through the various obstacles and challenges - but making progress
... Yeah ! ... he is fightin' against his own nature ! ..
I think the new roof pitch is a much better idea for the snow, it's going to look amazing too. 👍

pull the carb off and strip it, carb cleaner and compressed air, works wonders and most times makes a huge difference.
also, when you use the prop, wedge a piece of timber between the transom mount and motor shaft to trim up the prop. as long as the motor can draw water in for cooling, you're good. you won't be breaking speed records but you won't break the prop. we used to do that in shallow spots in the river over sand banks.
Buy a product called sea foam. Put it in every gas tank u have and all equipment. Don’t measure just pour it in. Best stabilizer you can use. Makes everything run top notch summer and winter.
Haircut and a smile! Nice to see things are starting to come together!

The old ferries where I live were swinging boats. Rope on each bank, crossed over left to right, right to left and tie off. Take rope of opposite bank, take turn around bow cleat and push off. The current swings you over. Remember to bring rope back on return trip. Condemned climbing rope is cheap.

Excellent as always. Your optimism is seriously infectious! Best regards from Ireland.
The reason for it being a chain and dropping to the river bed when not in use is so that it won’t be in the way of any other river users.
Is there anyone that could run your materials up river to you?
It pains me to see you running out of time and chance the loss of the material you already bought.
You seriously need a plan B while waiting for your repair.

Hello SHAWN, nice to see you back. I look forward to this every week!!! 😃🤠

Only thing river beds keep moving so may get caught out
@@fredz61 he could find a big stone that's been there forever, just a line where the level is too low would do, saves him doing half a video telling us it's too low
A marker is good idea when the rivers low make stone covered piling.
Thank you Nick, and the good neighbors
keep up the good work. the work is never ending but i guess the old phrase "paying your dues" comes to mind because in a few years when you are all settled in your going to look back and laugh and remember all the hoops you had to do to get there.
Thank you for sharing your life with us
You are a legend, Shaun.
Only 1621 miles to meet you at that restaurant. For you, a sawmill could be almost life changing.
Soon Troy! In the works

Yes I have been thinking about the fuel as well... the boat and the gen... are it simular issuses?
@@Zachry86 i think you are thinking of the additive called heet
basically helps evaporate the water in gas
I agree with you. I think he's got some really s**t fuel. If he can't deal with the carb, a small engine carb isn't expensive to rebuild or replace even. I wouldn't risk my life to learn. Learn when it's not critical.
So inspiring. Keep it up man

Another great video Shawn!
I liked all the thinking back and forth about stringing cables and a cable-car across. Another enjoyable watch, well done!
Wow....but aren't those expensive?....
From turbulence to triumph, back on track, we are all waiting for the river trips and the continuation of the cabin build, good stuff. forge on.
Could you hire someone to haul all your materials on a day when the river is high?
I look forward to your content every week, Shawn. We are all rooting for you. Don't give up. Don't give in. YOU got this! Most of us can only dream of doing what you're doing. You'll get there. These are all just minor setbacks. Look at how far you've come. Amazing. All the best from Seattle.
You are showing real life not the look its perfect life thank you Shaun
You are a strong dude in so many ways! Keep on keeping on. You have a great enthusiastic audience behind you enjoying every video you put out. Good luck Mr. Inspiration!
Hi Shawn,
I asked before about a week ago, but I'll ask again .......
What would that guide guy who lives up or down the river from you with that bigger jet
drive boat charge you to ferry all the rest of the loads up to the cabin site?
Can't wait to see what they find with the motor. Love this channel!
24:07 hilarious edit 😂 caveman style
Stayed out of the Camelot many Summers tree planting!
I have to hand it to you; you're one tough dude! Don't ever give up; you are making progress, even though it does not seem like it !
Hi Shawn nice to see you on line again… keep up the good work and get set for winter❤❤❤…. Must be great not having to wade across the river for your starlink as well..
