"Anakin actually does kinda care about them"
No, he fully cares for them. Anakin understands what it feels like to be ordered around by masters despite being an individual.

    • @AbsurdFalcon
      @AbsurdFalcon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

Anakin does indeed understand being ordered around (so does litterally anyone else because it’s not unique to Anakin) but him being ordered by the council isn’t the same as the clones being bred to follow orders. Anakin doesn’t have to be a Jedi, he can choose to leave freely if he so wanted to do so. The clones however cannot choose and are conditioned to not want to leave. It’s not the same.

I think the misconception is because he always takes the risky strategies instead of safe ones. So like the costly strategies, casualty wise. But what makes it worth it is because he is ALWAYS in the front. He wouldn't make the 501st do what he wouldn't.

Obiwan doesn’t have as good a relationship with his men like Anakin or Plo Koon but he was really good friends with Cody and cared about the other members 212th.

12:00 'rex' is cold af - the ARC trooper with the horizontal crescent above the visor is fives (same design as in the citadel rescue).
rex has a lot of blue markings and other notches on his helmet, it's nowhere near as "clean" as fives, and you've seen it many times.
while we're at it, here's some ways to recognise and distinguish the 501st members (not that it'll ever happen):
rex - pauldron on one shoulder. inverted V above each eye. tally marks all over. short blond hair.
fives - ARC gear. single stripe over the top of the helmet, horizontal crescent above the visor. flat top medium length black hair.
hardcase - chaingun (Z-6 rotary cannon). 3 stripes over the top of the helmet, 3 stripes under each eye. blue line on his face, no hair.
jesse - republic "cog" emblem on the helmet, and the same on his face.
kix - medic backpack, red medic logo on the shoulder, single stripe over the top of the helmet. aurebesh tattoo on the left of his head.
and here are the clones that you haven't met before now in the clone wars (you might have seen appo elsewhere):
tup - no stripe on the top of the helmet, single teardrop under one eye on the helmet and face. long black hair with a man bun.
dogma - large chevron (V shape) over the whole helmet face. short black hair, V shaped tattoo slightly left of central on his face.
appo - 2 stripes over top of helmet joining to 1 stripe at the front, with a negative space downward pointing arrow above the visor.
and hopefully you'll be able to recognise the new detail on the familiar 212th clone's helmet when we get there.

If the Second Battle of Geonosis was the D-Day of the Clone Wars, then the Battle of Umbara was the Vietnam of the Clone Wars. The Umbarans seceded from the Republic after the Senator of Umbara was assassinated by a representative from Rodia.
Give Krell some credit - he remembers the clones birth numbers and doesn't mix up clones, even if his command style is the exact opposite of General Skywalker.

We've seen the Jedi and Republic fight beings other than droids when they fought the Geonosians, also the helmets the Umbaraians wear are filled with some kind of berserker narcotic for combat. it's really just a way for the show runners to get away with using the same design for all the soldiers since with having to create a whole new planet environment, new ships, vehicles, weapons, animals, and Jedi design while also having one huge battle after another, they were pushed to the limit.

I don't know if it's been explained before, but the reason Fives was so willing to stand up to Krell is cuz of his status as an ARC trooper. The ARCs were very explicitly much more independent than the average clone; even clones promoted to ARC, like Fives, tended to be a lot more independent than the rest of their squad. we even see that way back in Rookies. Had the entirety of Domino survived to the Citadel mission, I have no doubt that the entire squad would have been made ARCs

Before ppl get mad. Just wanted to say it’s completely okay if y’all confuse clone names like Fives and Rex. It’s very uncommon for people not to make this sorta mistake during the first watch. I’m sure by the end of this arc y’all will know every clone by name ;D

On my first watch through I never paid attention to the clone names and just assumed a different clone was used each time. It's this arc that got me to remember specific clones

The reason why they are here is because in the arc of the senate murders, the senator of Umbara was killed and the planet became angry with the republic. Diplomacy wasn’t an option for them

Welcome to one of the reasons that people love this show. The Vietnam of Star Wars.
Honestly, you could take this arc out and not miss too much story wise. But, it's one of the most important arcs in all of Star Wars. I don't like how comically over the top the general is when it comes for his disdain for clones, but I think it's less racism and more viewing them as expendable creatures rather than living beings, which lets be honest, that is exactly how the politicians view them, the civilians, and a lot of the jedi. And we've also had commanders who treat their men like this in history; these people are tools to be used to win a war. And especially with what it's building towards, that's important
I also love the fact that the arc is not about racism. The message is all about whether or not these men can trust the person in charge, and your responsibilities as a soldier when you can't rely on your commander. They trust Anakin because even though Anakin does put their lives in danger, he is there with them and will do everything possible to keep them safe. When Rex offers suggestions or advice, Anakin listens and often acts on it. That's what the first half of the episode was for; to show how Anakin leads to be contrasted by how Krell leads. If the general had just sent them into a risky situation, that would have been enough for them to question him. But even before that he is blatant about how much he doesn't respect these men. He expects them to follow his orders without question solely because he's in charge. After all, they were bred for obedience, why should he need to respect them? And we've all had bosses like this; the ones that won't even listen when you ask for help or offer advice and then berate you when things happen exactly like how you predicted.
On a side note, the fact that the Umbarrans have gas helmets on their own planet has caused a lot of speculation over the years. The two I've most commonly heard is that their race naturally lives underground, so they do need protection when they go above the surface. The other one is that the gas isn't for them to breathe but is instead a drug to increase their adrenaline, ferociousness, etc. In other words it's specifically for fighting. I'm sure Filoni probably explained it in the behind the scenes since that's something that they would need to put effort into making, but I've never heard anything official

How come people aren't reacting to "Prey"? It's the biggest premiere Hulu has ever had, and it's a huge hit on Disney+ outside the USA.
