I love how well Dee Bradley Baker’s voice acting combined with the animated expressions of the clones sells the true tragedy of the situation. Rex finds out that the clones, his brothers, are firing at each other unknowingly; and like any good brother would do, he puts himself in direct line of fire and into a position with a higher rate of being shot and killed than the other clones taking cover. He doesn’t know why they’re firing on each other, he doesn’t understand yet that their general betrayed them, but the only thing he does understand is himself and his brothers are gunning each other down. He screams and yells frantically at his brothers as he runs by them, telling them in short, clear sentences to us the audience, but unclear sentences to the clones he runs by on what’s happening and who they’re firing at. Although we the audience understand what’s going on, the other clones that hear Rex as he runs by either hear an unclear message or hear nothing at all and so shots continue to be fired from both sides after the big reveal. Rex tackles Cody, who’s in shock as to why Rex tackles him. Cody questioning how Rex is there and why, not yet understanding what’s going on. Rex takes Cody’s helmet off before pulling him up and frantically shouting and spinning in every direction with Cody in his arms to show the clones of the 501st and the 212th that they are firing on their brothers. After the troopers we see stop firing on each other, shots continue to be fired as the message has not reached all the clones on the field yet. The utter grief and despair as the gravity of the situation finally crashes down completely onto Rex’s shoulders drives him to his knees as he tries to make sense out of the whole situation. The expression of horror, disbelief, confusion, fear, and grief are perfectly encapsulated in a single minute.
I think my favorite part is this is the first time we’ve truly seen Rex legitimately panicking. Rex is usually one of the most level headed commanders out of the clone commanders. The moment he saw they were killing their brothers, he immediately started acting crazy. I also love the sniper. His spotter just putting his arm up and stopping him, right as he realized he was about to kill Rex.

You appreciate the prequel trilogy as a whole, Especially after everything Disney pulled out of their asses to make the sequel trilogy a thing. At least George Lucas had vision for what to do!
@@Noremac25 A great tv show doesn't make the prequel movies any better. Or what? If disney made a TV show like Clone Wars set in the sequels and it was good, are you going to start thinking the sequel movies are better now???
@@boshwa20 I'll never find myself liking the sequels anytime soon because Disney/Ryan Johnson/JJ Abrams committed so many unforgiving war crimes to Star Wars Lore & came up with the WORST storyline follow-up to ROTJ & made joint efforts to make Rey a protagonist, thus throwing Luke Skywalker straight under the bus (who allegedly from George Lucas was supposed to be 10 shades more skilled & powerful of a Jedi than he was in OT).
It was because of this that the clones were able to execute order 66 against Krell, even though their inhibitor chips were not activated. Their kinship towards one another is unmatched.
Waxer wouldn't want to join the empire. He was a true hero and fought for his clone brothers and the Republic. He would never fight for the Empire if he was still alive.
It was one of the saddest things to see in the series personally Frankly Krell got off too easy not having to face Anakin for what he did to his battalion
This is why perfidy is a warcrime that forfeits your rights as a prisoner of war. (It’s when you impersonate the enemy or humanitarian organizations and conduct combat operations)
Cant believe Dogma was still trying to be loyal to Krell after this, he does eventually realise what's happened and shoot Krell but how could he still be loyal to a general that ordered him to kill his own brothers??
Blind loyalty makes a soldier EASY to manipulate like a puppet. That level of obedience gives a man tunnel vision that’s what differentiates him from Rex. Dogma follows every order no matter how morally wrong it is while Rex follows the right orders

I can still remember how horrified I was when this episode first came out. This was one of the darkest moments in star wars history up to that point.
If Krell survived, he wouldn’t have lived much longer afterwards, as Anakin would let Vader out.
Everytime i see this scene i can't stop hearing "Clones" by Ash
Mostly the part that says "Shame, that's everyone the same, i though you stood alone, we're different from the clones".
I like how the 501st has different hairstyles and then the 212th jjst all have cody’s haircut 😂
Essentially almost all the non-named ones have just normal hairstyle you can see it in the bad batch in the cafeteria fight scene they just have all the same hairstyle it ain't because of CMC Cody, it's just the clones generic hairstyle, not influenced by Clone Marshal Commander Cody...
Damn, sometimes I forget how good this show was.
NOT WAXER! NOOOO
Yeah fr I’m still shocked and sad about this 😢
Disparar a tus Compañeros de Milicia por accidente, confusión, o por error es una de las peores tragedias militares en una guerra.
For me this arc was the best in the show. It shows how deceptive the sith/separatists were, the clones individuality, critical thinking and ethics. Seeing a whole clone batallion go agaist their rogue commander was incredible, and I think the show should have had more stories like this.
Seeing Waxer crying immediately before he died was so emotional.
Imagine shooting your own brothers... This is just so unimaginably traumatic.
I know this is one of the worst things to happen to the clones but I find it absolutely hilarious that all the 501st guys are all different and special and all the 212th guys are literally the same character model
God seeing Waxxer dying was just terrible he was a good man and a great soldier.
Still clone
@ Regardless despite sharing the same face they were people. Men not just clones okay Prong Krell.
I will never forget watching this for the first time when I was twelve. For me this was a big plot twist at the time.
One of the best arcs ever!
That last tear drop before waxer died was heartbreaking
I like how the scene where rex says ATOP SHOOTING STOP AHOOTING THEYRE CLONESS
This is the saddest scene in the entire series
Actually fives death is
A truly heartbreaking experience for clones
Waxer 😭😭
It's terrifying. Imagine seeing your brother face as he die by your hand
Pong Krell is right up there with Umbridge in my opinion. Screw that guy!😤
Yeah fr
The Clone Wars is so much better as a prequel than the movies
Revenge of the sith was the best of the trilogy
@@Noremac25 Same stuff can be applied to the prequel movies. Only difference is that the prequel movies are extremely boring and will put you to sleep
This reminded me a lot of our Civil War. I imagine this is what the Confederate and Union troops thought and said as they were shooting each other.
This is tragedy. A good soldier falls orders yes but a good leader supposed to protect his men in the battlefield😢
It was because of this that the clones were able to execute order 66 against Krell, even though their inhibitor chips were not activated. Their kinship towards one another is unmatched.
Most emotional scene of the original run
RIP waxer 😢 you were a true hero, you should of been there fighting the empire with us bud 😢😢
Waxer wouldn't want to join the empire. He was a true hero and fought for his clone brothers and the Republic. He would never fight for the Empire if he was still alive.
2:00 Aaaaand that’s a sign something is wrong.
We never saw it coming
This hurt a lot 😢
PTSD goin wild with this one 💀
Bro everyone is doing a friendly fire but atleast they realize they were allies for now
Does anyone know the name of the track that plays at 2:35? I’ve been trying to find it for years with no luck
It was one of the saddest things to see in the series personally
Frankly Krell got off too easy not having to face Anakin for what he did to his battalion
My man why do you refuse to render the shot of Rex and his men approaching the airbase
0:12 was that transmission fake?
Surely, it sounds like a droid
It could be real as he made many platoons patrol thinking they were the only one and making sure platoons would fight each other.
Maybe he mind tricked the clone into sending the message.
Best way to piss off clones. Sad about Waxer.
So I guess there are no IFF tags for the Clones' HUDs?
I think only the arc troopers and clone commandos had the IFF systems
Blue on Blue is the worst thing someone can do.
This was such a raw moment for 12 year old me
This foreshadows their Generals fight on Mustafar and Waxers death foreshadows foreshadows Kenobis Death with 501st Clone killing Waxer
Except kenobi wasn’t killed by the 501st
@@SavvyMon4 no a 501st Clone (Anakin) kills Waxer (Obi Wan)
@@SavvyMon4I was referring to their Generals final fight on the Death Star
@@haydenfowle7576 then why does your comment say “501st clone killing Kenobi” ?
No. 😢
Fortunately there is a sub-Reddit dedicated to trash on Pong Krell for things he did like this
This is a serious case of Friendly Fire or "Blue on Blue" as they say in the military.
Blue on blue, just like the clones’ blasters.
This was one of the saddest scenes in Clone Wars!!!
Aspyr should've added this mission in Rise of the Empire
I’m disappointed we never saw more use of the mortars, they were fucking cool
THEY'RE NOT UMBARANS!!! THEY'RE SLIPPIN JIMMY!!!
