The fact that this video skipped over Kaina of the Great Snow Sea despite Garnt saying he's very interested in it and giving it 3 episodes is downright criminal. It's an anime original and the first episode was breathtaking!
It's a strong recommend for anyone into really awesome world building.
Oh I was gonna ask if he actually skipped Kaina since it wasn't on the video. Not sure how much Garnt cares about worldbuilding in anime, but I feel like Kaina somehow beat Hikari No Ou in that regard with its first episode, it was truly fascinating
Just the fact it's the same author with Knights of Sidnia makes this a must watch for me.

As an 11 year Trails veteran the notion of you and Joey even attempting to play this series with your work loads leaves me giggling insanely. Don't get me wrong I love the damn things but hell they are a lot.

Mappa is handling vinland saga very well thus far,the music choices,the animation,the colors and the background,the new characters are interesting too..

it's decent but on episode 2 some shots look quite unfinished with the featureless faces and some rough animation at times. The art department is still really good but there are also scenes where the color choices and lack of shading make it look somewhat bland.
What i really don't get as of now is the change to Einar's character. They conciously changed the character's attitude and it really does't feel like the same character. IDK why they made that deliberate choice

@@yeet-ri2vc It's not the exact same staff, just some of the big positions and some animators. Even then, the production hinges on more factors than just the staff and even in the last episode 5 studios were credited for key animation. There's definitely some production issues at hand. Mappa is getting too greedy

I am simply patiently waiting for Golden Kamuy to resume. I am also watching Vinland Saga, but like... Golden Kamuy has me breaking down and binging the manga. I'm in love with it.
i read the vinland saga manga back when s1 ended and now im wishing i hadnt and just waited for the anime. i love golden kamuy but also waiting for the anime to come back
@@Solarstormflare so far Vinland Saga has been so good, and I'm SO excited for the new season, especially based on the themes of season 1 and where it all led.
as for Golden Kamuy, I will say, the manga is rewarding to read, even as someone who already watched the anime. there are whole chapters that I know got cut for being technically non-essential, but even in smaller ways, there are just some things that don't work the same way in the anime, because the anime is trying to streamline the story a bit, and details do get lost here and there. I can give examples if desired... but the tl;dr is that the story's themes and certain character parallels become a lot clearer. plus Satoru Noda consistently produces absolutely gorgeous illustrations of animals and nature... it's like the exact inverse of the CGI bear from the anime. it's worth seeing just for the irony of that alone.
I dropped Golden Kamuy halfway through season 1. Do you think it's worth another chance due to stuff that happens after that, like does the show pick up at all? The premise of flaying people to recreate a map made from prison tats is p unique, as is the Ainu bent, but I found the show lacking in atmosphere and having weird pacing.
@@collinbeal I would say yes, the show is worth it, but I am biased because it's my favorite. if it helps though, I can outline a little bit of the way it's structured, to help you decide.
basically, in season 1 the characters start out in the getting-to-know-you phase, and like... the whole arc with Nihei (the guy who hunts bears) is something I can see dragging for some people. it's probably one of the weaker story arcs, if only because the characters haven't come out of their shells yet, so the story isn't helped by all the vibrant personalities that you can see so clearly later on. that said, the first half of season 1 is primarily used for a bunch of setup and character introductions, and all of that is satisfying to see utilized effectively later on.
the latter half of season 1 is where you start getting some of the goofier setpiece episodes... highlights include the murder hotel episode, in which the gang ends up staying at a hotel where the proprietess is a serial killer, or the episode with Henmei, which is just... entirely bizarre. this is where things pick up a little and the show starts to reveal the true depths of its strangeness. but the really important part is the introduction of Kiroranke. if you haven't gotten to him yet, then believe me when I say that he introduces a groundbreaking new element to the plot, which really ramps up the intrigue for the main storyline.
the other thing about the show's pacing is that season 1 doesn't really have a proper finale. instead, the first two episodes of the second season take the show's existing weirdness factor, and (on a scale of 1 to 10) bump it from maybe an 8? to like, a 15. Edogai as a character is like... either this show is going to deeply amuse you, or you might bounce off of it's sense of humor, which is fair. it's definitely... unique. but all of season 2 is a real treat. you get some compelling backstory episodes for recurring cast members, and you get a lot of movement from various factions toward a common goal, and the real cherry on top is the three episode long season 2 finale. that's where _everything_ that has been moving in the entire plot explodes at once, it's a total clusterfuck, and it's incredibly good.
EXTRA NOTES:
ultimately, I think some of the weird pacing is due to adaptation... but I think that, for as tough of a sell as it may be, the early story has to make time for some setup. even in the manga, it takes a little while for Sugimoto and Asirpa to warm up to each other, and this can admittedly make for a bit of a dry start... but one of the themes in this series revolves around how war has caused Sugimoto to feel like an irredeemable person, and how Asirpa has experienced various losses in her own personal history that make it hard for her to form new connections. at first, the two are really only bound by their common interest in the gold... but I think the manga communicates certain thematic parallels much better, which keeps the early story more interesting.
and beyond that, the reward for watching them develop slowly in this way, is when you see them change. they become warmer, happier people because they know each other, and you can clearly contrast the way they are later in the story, with how they were at the beginning. it shows you, by example, what war could've robbed from Sugimoto in terms of his personhood, and what Asirpa could've missed if she never knew him. it's important for Sugimoto to be valued for the person he is in the present, regardless of what war did to him, and it makes even the silliest moments in the series feel oddly touching. by the time I finished watching this series, all these characters had become some of my favorite fictional people to see on screen.
and yeah, once you get into seasons 2 and 3, each episode delivers important characterization, vital plot information, or is just an absolute laugh riot... or all of the above. definitely start from where you remember dropping it, if any of this sounds appealing to you.
@@collinbeal I think season 2 will drop many fans, while there is fights and stuff, there may be parts where its like, well idk if i'll continue to watch. If you do, there is pee, and that sniper guy, your welcome. On a serious note, while vinland has me in awe now, golden kamuy is up there with legend of galatic heroes for this generation and possibly last generation. To me, there is no other show but Golden Kamuy in multiple seasons. I think it is just so gosh dang good, I would've binged rewatched 4-6 times if I had the darn time.

Tomo-chan manga is good, glad it's getting adapted. Not worried about tri-gun's darker moments, Land of the Lustrous and Beastars had plenty of those and they all landed.
the problem is the writing, there's so many dubious choices in the first two episodes
@@bassbusterx the Thing is the First 5(?) Episodes of trigun where either original or Side Stories. Then until where vash fired at the moon is pretty Close to the Manga, but after that the Story is completly different between Manga and Anime. And after the half Point of the Manga Miley and milli pretty much are mostly out of the Story.
But i still ask myself why they replaced milli with a Kind of older Wolfwoodish character.
Only Thing I ask myself why July (the City) still exist in the new Anime, given that was the iccedent why He was wanted at all.
Small Spoilers from Here on Out: There are more hummanoid plants then Just knives and vash, earth plays are role in later arcs, Zazie is Something completly in the Manga and the puppetmaster has a Connection to Vash.

@@carloscauan7967 yes, yes it is, not every villain needs to become a bad guy turned good story. It's ok to have a villain be a villain just because they want to. Plus the Nebraskas were unhinged, and once again more menacing. It will also hinder how the rest of the Nebraska family will combe back later in the story
I definitely recommend Ningen Fushin. It doesn't seem like animation studio itself is giving it much care, but the novels were actually good, all four protagonists were likeable and felt more like humans than characters.

In Spy Classroom, not only does that girl have an eyepatch and a fang, she also refers to herself as “ore-sama” and which is just adorable to me. The show itself feels mid as hell tho
As much as I'm really looking forward to Spy Classroom I have to agree that currently the first two episodes feels lack of impact. It's a shame because the VA are some of the popular ones and they did a great job

Spy Classroom had the potental to be good but it decided to go more on cute side then it peers, a show like this should had some serious stakes but the girls are the most memorable (in term of design about this show) and they are just breezing through every plot beat by using plot armor, they should be in danger but they aren't as sth somewhere will save them while sth like Princess Principal or Release The Spy, two shows about cute girls doing spy things were more darker more enjoyable and more interesting, people actually died even even though they had their cute moments, they know when to be serious but not the case with Spy-Room

I read the manga for this about a year ago...from what I do remember it was 95% wholesome. However that remaining 5% allows for certain things to be animated...like Gigguk said let us pray to the wholesome gods on this one.
Considering they had to split it into censored and uncensored versions already, I'm gonna assume theres probably some more risque elements to the anime (that or the translators/localizers are going overboard on censoring).
@@nicholasjacobs6605 could be, or Studio Bind are adding more risqué scenes than the manga. I've seen Mushoku Tensei and know they are willing, but never read the manga so don't know of any "additions" out of the source material.
@@Oxijinn_ I dont think binds added extra risque scenes in Mushoku as far as I remember, but its been a while since I read the manga, also think the anime is based off the LN or WN anyway, so if there is, that might be the reason.
This one is *bizzare but certainty interesting for all the wrong reasons* is how I would see this show. I might check out the manga to see how wild that is.

better description: 52 playing cards that grant powers to their wielders, who are refereed to as players, are spread throughout the kingdom of Fourland. An organization of players called High Card is employed by the king of Fourland who seeks to collect all 52 cards. Finn, an orphan, is soon to discover the power of the cards and begin his journey as a member of High Card.
I know its not the best description but it gives enough information to know that the show is about an orphan who joins a government organization to collect these mysterious and powerful cards throughout the kingdom.
Catch up to bungou stray dogs for sure! S1 was okay but it really gets with each season better. S3 was awesome. Also there's OVA and Movie you should watch after S2

I pretty much binged it last 2 weeks, season one was good but a little confusing, season 2 was very good, season 3 was meh, the movie was ok... that one OVA with Kunikida was meh. This new season it's been good so far, after all Rampo is the best character...
Gigguk predicted the blue hair girl in that Ice blade anime got me good 😂. I watch a couple of episode it is very bad, episode 2 is bad but very funny.
Tomo-chan is surprisingly voiced by Rie Takahashi, who also voiced Emilia from Re:Zero and Megumin from Konosuba. Takahashi is very talented and seems to challenge herself in new character voice.
I have around 25 anime on the list to watch for this season. It is WAY much more than the last few season. Maybe I'll get to cut down on some anime, but a lot of them just looks really good.
25 holy shit! I'm at 10 and I'm already considering dropping two of them (Spy Classroom and Tsunlise). Really enjoying some of the others though.
@@stefandesu Yeah, a few of them are from last season like MHA, Iruma kun, Blue lock, and Shadow isekai. I am also watching Spy Classroom, hope it doesn't ruin the good premise. I probably will drop a lot of the new anime. But so far most of them looks good enough.

13:15 Can music carry an anime? Yeah. Cross Ange was one of those for me. By Akiko Shikata (also did "Umineko", "Yona of the Dawn", and "Tales of Symphonia" OVA themes songs) I still listen to the soundtrack to this day though I hated the show. But it did introduced me to more of her great work outside of anime too.

Farmland arc is probably the best arc in the entirety of Vinland Saga till date. Especially the last few chapters, the "I have no enemies" hit a lot more harder than when Thors said it but ig it's gonna be divisive coz of how much of story(minus the action, there is some action but it's nothing compared to Season 1) is in this arc

Reminding people that if you only watched old Trigun, it had the wrong ending, manga ends completely differently.
Also the motivation of Knives is waaaaay better explained in the manga and its a lot more understandable why he ended up doing what he did.
I hate it because Vash's character is crap and the animation is really bad. I honestly have and am trying to get past it and give it a fair shake, but it's some of the most painful shit i've seen...
I'm enjoying it a lot, actually. And I'm an OG Trigun fan. The animation is great, new character designs are pretty good, story is more faithful to the source. It's been a pretty good watch in a season where I'm really only interested in 1 or 2 shows.
Ice-blade sorcerer seems pretty competent so far. MC is just a pleasant, decent dude with an interesting background and characters are interesting enough 👍

Farming Life in Another World is a very fun manga. Yeah, the guy is doing almost all the females in the village, aside from those from species that are incompatible and the beastman girls aside from the chief's daughter (because they look like they *might* be middle schoolers, at the oldest), but it's hilarious watching him constantly trying and failing to get additional men into the village with the right plumbing to help him out, while at the same time the girls are constantly trying to get him to take potions and foods that can keep him going for up to a week.
Sadly, the anime seems to have cut that entirely. Hardly any mention of this aspect of his life so far. They seriously cut one of the best running gags in the series. My advice, read the manga. More specifically, read the unofficial fan translation of the manga, as the "official" translators made some really stupid mistakes.

As someone who has read most if not all the manga for the coming isekai anime, I would say that most of them are good enough. Generic, but the twists they give is sufficient to make you watch. Personally, I would recommend you guys to watch the tsundere, magical revolution, and campfire cooking since for me, they're the most exciting ones to watch for an isekai
I personally kinda hate most isekai, but also, some of my favourite anime came from that genre, mainly re:Zero, but i've read both endo and kobayashi' comment (wich ain't really isekai, but it's pretty good) and the cooking one, and they are kinda ok.

Magical Revolution is probably the best new show of the season. but it has the benefit of a really strong main character that would be difficult to screw up. Anis is god tier. The most significant thing to mention is that it has the Girls Love tag on MAL, and that is not a mistake. THIS IS A YURI BABY! yeahhhhhh!!!!! It's also technically an isekai.
Tomo-chan is good, though I wish the production were a little better, and it's too obvious it's adapted from a 4-koma at points.
Ice Guy & Female Colleague is extremely wholesome, very nice to have an adult romance like that. It also looks really nice. and the ice guy manifests adorable little snowmen sometimes, it's really funny.
Reborn to Master the Blade is surprisingly good, especially in comparison to all the other 'reincarnated but I'm still a badass' shows aside from Misfit of Demon King Academy. it's not quite as absurd as that one, but a baby does defeat a dragon in the first episode, so.
Fire Hunter looks intriguing, it's based on a novel and has industry veterans just doing their own thing and not giving a shit about how anime series are supposed to look these days.
Saving 80,000 Gold for My Retirement LOOKS like dogshit, yes, but it's pretty fun so far. but it's so janky that it's kind of charming. This poor studio is aware it has no budget, and it frequently makes the show feel like a throwback.
Trigun Stampede has been solid so far.
Campfire Cooking shows that even when MAPPA isn't adapting something hype, they're still among the best in the business. looks good, well-directed, the jokes land, food porn.

I love this season. As an avid manga reader who has already read most good things and most trash, this season has so so so much of the latter. The entertaining kind. Watching generic trash and laughing at absurd scenes really takes the stress out of a day.

After a couple of episodes the Tsundere-yadda-yadda-Liselotte one is quite good. It's wholesome, the characters are adorable and likeable, and the pairings are quite strong, and you can tell there's going to be some real developments happening. Usually with this type of show there's one pair that I just can't stand, but here, I'm rooting for everyone equally. It's just super wholesome all around. If you're into wholesome romance, I think this is the strongest offering this season. For me, Tomo-chan falls flat in that regard, because it's mostly just slapstick comedy built around romantic feelings, and not actual romance. This whole set up means there's zero chance Tomo-chan will get her boy by the end of the season. No romantic development = out of the running for me.
Hold on now, give Tomo-Chan a chance. It’ll be worth it in the end trust me....

Of course I'll wait for the final reviews and I might binge watch the whole season if I find they prove me wrong, but from what I could gather on the interwebs there's absolutely no chance this will turn into a romance anime in season 1, and there's little chance for season 2, so I'm not gonna keep my hopes up just to be disappointed. My anime season is already full as it is. Meanwhile, Liselotte is already delivering on it's romance and I'm loving it.
