Such a great feature. Sidenote: The ducking option is also available within the edit page. Simply select your track and open the inspector. No need to switch to fairlight.
Bruh, the reason why it pops in and out is because you didn't put in any lookahead, but mostly because your hold is too long and rise too short. The hold sets how long it takes before the volume starts to rise again after you stop talking, and the rise must basically be a "release" that defines how fast the volumes goes back to normal. So in order to avoid volume "pops" you would want to set the hold quite short and the rise quite long. The duck level must be the treshold abd expander, so the higher the level, the more ducking of the music from the lowest voice input. The lookhead must play a role in anticipating the waveform and smoothing the response of the tool.
The popin in and out is because you haven’t adjusted the parameters (how much you want the music to lower? How long do you want the fade back to full volume to be? How long would you like it to look ahead and start lowering the volume before someone speaks? You can adjust all these to make it behave the way you want it to.
Sorry dude, but everybody has been talking about it. What’s still missing in the update is the ability to remix to a specific length… that would be handy.
At the time that the video was made, I had not found any other videos specifically about this feature. There were mentions of it, but not a specific video.
Well, not so game chaning 😅 I believe Premiere had this feature already, I've been using DR since I started making videos and this is such a basic feature that I wanted as well. It's good that they finally added it 🎉
I can’t imagine how this ducker made it out of alpha. It is sooooo bad. If the dia speaker observes commas or takes a breath, the music comes back up. So now every soundtrack is going to sound like EDM, volume up, down, up, down. It’s really bad.
Learn how to duck audio manually… You don’t have to be a music engineer you just have to have a pair of ears. No matter how good resolve is there’s no substitute for ears and the human brain. Only Crappy editors would want to do this Automatically.
Shout out to @russellwofford for letting me film in his office!
Nice explanation, Rocco! Interesting stuff 👍
Thank you!
This guy definitely reminds me of how big of a David Tennant fan I was back in the day

We already can do it on Fairlight with the send/listen trick - and save a preset. But now it looks quicker to apply anyway.
Loved this! Thank you. I also subscribed.
Glad to hear it! Thank you for your support!
Audio ducking was already there but was little complex previously.

I think this is actually helpful, even if it's just for the purpose of saving time while editing...
well done, thank you! 🙂🙂
Time is everything when it comes to editing! Thanks for watching!

Sorry to say this, there's like 10 videos out there talking about this.
I suppose it doesn't hurt for there to be an 11th one.
@@RoccoGermani And I can make # 12, but you said, no one its talking about it.

Its not a feature thats "Nobody is talking about". Stop making misleading clickbait titles
Everyone is talking about it 😂.

The funniest thing is that version 18 has auto ducking as well so It’s not a new featcher😂
Rocco mah man

It does appear to be inconsistent for sure. But hopefully by the time Resolve 19 is out of Beta, these issues are remedied!
Yeah, don't learn the art of mixing audio, let the problem do it for you! Stay clueless!
